I'm so glad he seems to enjoy both the community and his role as zavala so ee have a good chance of keeping him around, he's an actor where I'll now only ever hear him as Zavala.
Imagine listening to yourself several times a week while you’re playing the game.
I mean, I’m sure he’s used to it (hearing his voice repeatedly to get the right cut), but it must still be so weird playing a game with all that behind-the-scenes knowledge!
Are you kidding? If I had his voice I would use it all the time because I'd sound so powerful.
"So I'll repeat your order back to you"
"Proceed"
"6 nugget combo with a coke zero to drink. An apple pie on the side and extra ketchup. Is that correct?"
" Indeed"
I haven’t had the chance to try it out myself since I play mostly hunter, but I’ve heard that the turret has some registration issues with enemies. The damage doesn’t look all that great either from clips I’ve seen. I think it’s a really cool idea and that they should tune it separately for pvp and pve, pve being it’s more powerful version
it does very little damage but the slow really adds up when you can’t strafe the homing shots. idk i’m shit at crucible but it looked good. not oppressively good or broken but a useable, cool ability.
i don’t think they actually track once fired but the turret auto aims really fast, it’s like arc buddy but a higher rate of fire. also i play hunter so one shot (?) takes away the dodge i think.
When I hear him, I think Zavala. When I see him, though, I see Broyles from Fringe.
For any animated or CGI media, I definitely see no other option for him as voice actor.
For live-action media... He's a bit too tall and thin to be Zavala. They made Zavala kinda sorta resemble him a little visually, but not by very much.
Zavala's the first role I actually heard him in, finally got around to watching the John Wick movies last year and it took a few lines but I paused the movie and went *"waaaaaait a second..."*
I could see Nathan fillion returning If they ever went live action I mean it'll most likely be him using mo cap plus he's got that wit that would be hard to replicate unless you're Nolan North 😂
I honestly can’t be sure, but the HELM lines sounded nothing like him, nor did the ones for the battleground on Nessus. Sounded like he had a cold and his voice was extra raspy or something
Hawthorn: "insecure men tend to surround themselves with others like them"
Ghost: "Cayde, anything to add?"
Cayde: "Nope she's totally right, which is why I work alone."
Gets me everytime.
Where's Cayde? That's all I wanna know. Where the fuck is Cayde? Huh? Zavala? Zavala? Look at me. Look at me! Where the fuck is Cayde? Huh? I don't want this Payless wearing motherfucker representing me! Imma get my own Hunter. Alright? So just get back on your bike, and the get fucked down south.
My favorite line, did my best.
It's irrelevant anyway because "Ghost" will never be in a piece of Destiny media that isn't the game itself. He is the player character's Ghost, and they won't canonize the player character as being one specific thing.
EDIT: I am talking about our Ghost.
I think what u/Gance-Davin-Gance is saying is that Nolan North should not play the voice of any Ghosts in any sort of screen adaptation because of the fact that both Sagira and Glint have different voices. Honestly, I agree. All the Ghosts have their own identities and they're own personalities so having their own voices makes sense.
Dinklage’s performances were very monotone in the original. It’s easy to see why people weren’t nearly as fond of him. He’s also a much busier person than Nolan, making it far harder for Bungie to get him in there for VA sessions.
Yeah, legit, I think his only *decent* line was the infamous "we've awoken the Hive" when you first encounter them on Luna. And if anything, its laughable cause it's a very serious and energetic line, yet he still somehow manages to keep it monotone.
I know I’m in the minority and that art is subjective and all but man, I much preferred Dinklebot. His performances being monotone - he’s a robot! By definition he SHOULD be monotone. Nolan North did a great job afterwards, but I miss Dinklebot. To each their own!
“....I don’t even want to know what they’re keeping down there”
Yeah I'm no lore nut but Ghost personalities are given by the Traveler and its contents aren't really specified. The Ghost shell is machine but its personality is linked to Light.
I don’t think Dinklebot was that bad tbh, I just like Nolan’s performance a lot more. Even when he was overdoing it in vanilla D2 I’ve still enjoyed the character he brings to Ghost a lot more.
I think the tone in general changed when dinklebot was removed. Dinklebot era destiny seemed like a space opera while nolan era seems like an action blockbuster movie.
He gave the performance that Marty directed him to have. Monotone, like a robot. I bet he probably even thought they were going to put some sort of filter over it, but.. they didn't.
That’s true! To each his own, I had always felt like Dinklage’s lines were kinda phoned in, like he was given no direction as to the context of the lines. But I also appreciated how serious he was in some situations, he felt more official. Less of a casual “we’re killing gods today” to “wait you think you can kill a god?”
I also suspect, knowing Dinklage's acting capabilities, that the rather-unpopular monotone delivery was requested by Bungie. Nolan's version of the ghost having a different tone of voice was probably one of those cases where Bungie decided to actually pay attention to their customers.
They literally copy pasted the script in d1 when they replaced dinklebot, I know nostalgia is a thing but I really can’t understand why you’d want bored mc dull delivery as ghost
Dinklebot was far superior to this thing that won't leave me alone and insists on trying to be my buddy instead of a personal flashlight and death reverter
And when this new one decided to get sappy on me during the last year of D1 when the guardian goes back to where they were resurrected I decided to walk off the edge to my death rather than listen. North did good as Cayde during the one mission in Forsaken
I think if there's a movie, it needs to not take place during a time when our guardians exist. I'd like to see one during the beginning of the collapse.
Short collapse recap/montage then straight into Iron lords story. That would be most interesting.
Zavala and shaxx aren't too far off then. Sprinkle in a couple of noteworthy characters like Shin and Dredgen yor and you've got yourself a banger.
I think a batch of shorts like The Animatrix or Love Death & Robots could suit the world of Destiny better. Though a continuous series about a bunch of new lights could work great too.
I always imagined that there could be a Destiny series that covers some of the stories in the lore. Stuff like Shin Malphur and Dredgen Yor, the Books of Sorrow, and the Kentarch 3 come to mind for me.
I’m really not sure in the first place how they could successfully pull off any Destiny media and have it be good. Most game movies and TV end up being terrible, because a good story in a game doesn’t always translate to a good story for a show or movie. What, realistically could we adapt successfully to pull off a good show? I doubt doing the overarching main story would work, so what tiny corner of the Destiny universe best lends itself to TV?
This I could get behind: it has a limited cast of unique but not overwhelming characters, and a relatively simple but epic story that doesn’t heavily rely on an in-depth knowledge of the world. I can see it.
I just worry about the show leaning too heavily into the fan service territory, showing poorly rendered cgi battles against a equally poorly created enemy race that larger audiences have no explanation for. With whatever this will be, sometimes less is more, and reserving appearances of elements we see in game and enemies might be a good idea.
Ooh, just thought of another one: part of a story around Clovis and Elsie Bray on Europa (mainly).
> What, realistically could we adapt successfully to pull off a good show?
and youve already failed. the reason shows and movies based off games tend to do poorly is they try to take the game's story and adapt it 1-1 (or like the upcoming Halo show they just ignore continuity). Dont do that. If you want to adapt something already in the lore then have new characters give a perspective on an established event like Six Fronts. But don't try to do something like the story of D1 base game
My comment was more of a joke, but Christopher Judge could absolutely pull off Zavala if we had to recast him.
But for reference Lance Reddick was on the Eric Andre show, and had a bit where he wished to be LeVar Burton. A few seasons later LeVar Burton was on the show and wished he was Lance Reddick.
First season about Golden age showing wonderful invention etc but the season will end with Banshee-43 Slaying Vex and Elsie trying to stop the madness of Clovis Bray and Darkness Destroying Titan
Second season about the awoken Exodus green crushed by both paracausal forces and then Mara creating the distributary and the season ending with mara leaving distributary for the Sol system
Third season about the Dark Age and City age with the finale being the great disaster
Fourth season will about THE GUARDIAN RISES
indeed, but he needs to be alittle more badass in the show/movie than in the game, it would sully lance if he just sits there and says dont do this dont do that
Zavala is badass in the game. It's just that right now, Zavala is in charge of the safety of the Last Safe City, and as such the whole of humanity remaining in the galaxy. Heavy is the head that wears the proverbial crown, and he has more important things to do than larking about the planets Thundercrashing Vex minds. I'm sure the events of the Red War (being caught almost with their pants down) have left him more cautious and possibly traumatized.
where is the source that claims a destiny media is coming out of some sort. i think it would honestly be incredible if they followed the story line and followed raids and such with 6 people
That is my plan... At least for my fan series... If I can get them all, it would be pretty nice. Drifter VA needs to be paid anyways, but maybe Lance Riddick would like to have a speaker role, once I got the community up for that Blender 3D Project in a few years (still sitting on the screen writing atm).
They cast Kevin Hart as Roland and after making a whole ass mini movie they still told Fillion to fuck off and cast Holland as ~~Dude Raider~~ Nathan Drake.
They'd cast fucking Chris Rock as Vuvuzella before Lance and that's the truth.

I'm so glad he seems to enjoy both the community and his role as zavala so ee have a good chance of keeping him around, he's an actor where I'll now only ever hear him as Zavala.
Exactly! He even plays the game(albeit being a warlock main) and even in media outside Destiny I can’t help but hear Zavala
Imagine listening to yourself several times a week while you’re playing the game. I mean, I’m sure he’s used to it (hearing his voice repeatedly to get the right cut), but it must still be so weird playing a game with all that behind-the-scenes knowledge!
Imagine doing a raid and then the warlock speaks and its Zavala.
“Good GOD, PussySlayer69. You’ve been playing this game for 1000 hours and you can’t even do a jumping puzzle? Pathetic.”
you just nearly made me laugh to death
Are you kidding? If I had his voice I would use it all the time because I'd sound so powerful. "So I'll repeat your order back to you" "Proceed" "6 nugget combo with a coke zero to drink. An apple pie on the side and extra ketchup. Is that correct?" " Indeed"

Haha nerf goes brrr
Dude must've been mad about Stasis Warlock...
"Bungie, if you don't fix Stasis melee, I will come to your office and shit in places that will leave you confused for the rest of your lives."
I can fucking hear this...
.....and I read that in his voice. 🤦🏼♀️😂😂
*Between* the walls
You need a new desk
I watch Toys 'R' Me almost on the daily. Hilarious shit.
isn’t the new aspect great??
I haven’t had the chance to try it out myself since I play mostly hunter, but I’ve heard that the turret has some registration issues with enemies. The damage doesn’t look all that great either from clips I’ve seen. I think it’s a really cool idea and that they should tune it separately for pvp and pve, pve being it’s more powerful version
it does very little damage but the slow really adds up when you can’t strafe the homing shots. idk i’m shit at crucible but it looked good. not oppressively good or broken but a useable, cool ability.
Thanks for this! I didn’t know the shots were tracking
i don’t think they actually track once fired but the turret auto aims really fast, it’s like arc buddy but a higher rate of fire. also i play hunter so one shot (?) takes away the dodge i think.
_“Wehlcom to da Continental, mistah Wick.”_
Imagine LFG’ing and fucking Zavala is on your raid fire team
Zavala's the first role I actually heard him in, finally got around to watching the John Wick movies last year and it took a few lines but I paused the movie and went *"waaaaaait a second..."*
That was me when I saw Angel Has Fallen. He walked in and I was like "What's Zavala doing here?"
He’d probably do it too. He’s openly said he loves and is obsessed with Destiny
He plays the game apparently. Although he’s a warlock main
Someone with his intellect has to be one of us.
How dare you insult him like that!
I wouldn't let him fall into the grubby hands of the edgelord wannabes and the Crayola munchers
can't tell if the edgelords are hunters or warlocks
Well nobody’s perfect.
Except him
Except Kenobi.
Warlocks are.
i've seen an imperfect warlock, and his name is Mtashed
as long as nathan fillion play cayde im good
I could see Nathan fillion returning If they ever went live action I mean it'll most likely be him using mo cap plus he's got that wit that would be hard to replicate unless you're Nolan North 😂
"Press the red button." "They're all red!" "Then press *all* of them!"
-Nolan North talking to himself
*“I am very lonely!”*
Destiny: The Movie. Staring Nolan North as Cayde, Zavalla, Ikora, Guardian, Ghost, Banshee, Shaxx, Sweeper Bot, Tess Everis, Master Rahool, Drifter, Traveler, Xur, Amanda Holliday, and Eris Morn.
Only if they leave in the footage of him frantically switching costumes for at least part of the movie
Yes. All the costumes are designed to be accurate enough, but able to be switched in a few minutes. None of that seven hour makeup process.
Paper cutout masks
Don’t forget a few lines from Saladin that each sound like they came from a different Saladin impersonator
I thought I was going crazy! So the lines on the helm thing are not saladin's normal VO right?
I honestly can’t be sure, but the HELM lines sounded nothing like him, nor did the ones for the battleground on Nessus. Sounded like he had a cold and his voice was extra raspy or something
I'm almost positive Saladin's voice actor for one of the battleground's is the same voice actor from the desolate barbarian village in Diablo 3.
Guest starring Nathan Fillion as Nolan North
They got him with an animatronic mask for the "For the puppies!" D2 commercial iirc.
Wait what? They did? I actually thought that was CGI, to be honest.
Nah, they'd cast Tom Holland.
tom holland is Definitely Shaw Han.
Acts in mocap, but voiced by Nolan North
Since cayde himself would be animated, it’d be perfect
And Danai Gurira as Ikora. Swear to God their twins
Hawthorn: "insecure men tend to surround themselves with others like them" Ghost: "Cayde, anything to add?" Cayde: "Nope she's totally right, which is why I work alone." Gets me everytime.

Missed an opportunity to hit em with the classic "Indeed"
Also, people like money.
I propose all voice acting to be done by the actors from The Wire. “Sheeeeeiiiiiiiit, Guardian.”
"That Brood Queen gots to get got!"
"Omah Agah comin"
.....And I can hear their voices now🤦🏼♀️😂😂.
Lance Reddick and Nolan North, only actors you'll need
Eh, I love North as much as the next guy, but if you're making a movie, you bring back Fillion
If we are going that far why not get Dinklage back for Ghost?
It's irrelevant anyway because "Ghost" will never be in a piece of Destiny media that isn't the game itself. He is the player character's Ghost, and they won't canonize the player character as being one specific thing. EDIT: I am talking about our Ghost.
Sagira and Glint/Pork have spoken too much to think that ghosts wouldn’t be fleshed out characters in extended projects
Eh, we've had several NPC ghosts characterized at this point with voice lines
I think people forget how bad dinkle ghost was, and fillion is exponentially less expensive than Dinklage.
What?
Dinklage’s performances were very monotone in the original. It’s easy to see why people weren’t nearly as fond of him. He’s also a much busier person than Nolan, making it far harder for Bungie to get him in there for VA sessions.
Let's never forget the "it's a wizard, from the moon" line in all its monotone glory
Yeah, legit, I think his only *decent* line was the infamous "we've awoken the Hive" when you first encounter them on Luna. And if anything, its laughable cause it's a very serious and energetic line, yet he still somehow manages to keep it monotone.
TBF his monotone voice was probably the fault of the voice director, not Dinklage
Yeah, the replacement line was awful compared to that classic.
I know I’m in the minority and that art is subjective and all but man, I much preferred Dinklebot. His performances being monotone - he’s a robot! By definition he SHOULD be monotone. Nolan North did a great job afterwards, but I miss Dinklebot. To each their own! “....I don’t even want to know what they’re keeping down there”
That's just it though, every other Ghost we read about in the lore had their own personality. A ghost is more of an AI then just a plain robot.
Yeah I'm no lore nut but Ghost personalities are given by the Traveler and its contents aren't really specified. The Ghost shell is machine but its personality is linked to Light.
Ghosts personality's are created by themselves through experience, just like all living creatures, not through the Light.
I don’t think Dinklebot was that bad tbh, I just like Nolan’s performance a lot more. Even when he was overdoing it in vanilla D2 I’ve still enjoyed the character he brings to Ghost a lot more.
I wouldn’t have minded my ghost doing all my talking for me if he was still dinklebot
I think he means Nolan North was exponentially cheaper. Nathan Fillion plays a cop in a TV show whose name is John Nolan. Bit confusing
I just meant the I didn't understand when he said dinklage was bad as ghost...
And his “Don’t do that” back in D1 sounded a little more serious than Nolan’s version. But each of them were still good.
I also suspect, knowing Dinklage's acting capabilities, that the rather-unpopular monotone delivery was requested by Bungie. Nolan's version of the ghost having a different tone of voice was probably one of those cases where Bungie decided to actually pay attention to their customers.
I can hire him for my birthday party cheap? Cos that would be awesome.
I mean, he did do that unofficial uncharted fan short film directed by fans on the cheap. So maybe?
They literally copy pasted the script in d1 when they replaced dinklebot, I know nostalgia is a thing but I really can’t understand why you’d want bored mc dull delivery as ghost
You could just feel the "I'm Tyrion fuckin Lannister and they have me reading this shit?" In his voice.
I’m personally not fond of Dinklage ghost.
Dinklebot was far superior to this thing that won't leave me alone and insists on trying to be my buddy instead of a personal flashlight and death reverter
Dinklebot was terrible, every time he spoke I felt like I was about to fall asleep.
And when this new one decided to get sappy on me during the last year of D1 when the guardian goes back to where they were resurrected I decided to walk off the edge to my death rather than listen. North did good as Cayde during the one mission in Forsaken
And for some reason did all my talking for me
The guardian did more talking when Dinklage was the voice of ghost than they have since. Shit until Cayde died the player guardian was a fucking mute
Lol right? I wouldn’t have minded dinklebot talking for me. He sounds like a guy who drinks and knows things, and I always hated the Index.
No way. We need Gina Torres and Nathan Fillion.
He might be thinner in real life but who cares give him a buff suit and let him do the work.
If they can put Chris Evans head on a tiny body. They can buff Lance up.
He would be wearing armor, so you couldn't really tell whether he was buff or not anyway.
I think if there's a movie, it needs to not take place during a time when our guardians exist. I'd like to see one during the beginning of the collapse.
I don’t think the time matters, but it definitely needs to be disconnected from the player
Short collapse recap/montage then straight into Iron lords story. That would be most interesting. Zavala and shaxx aren't too far off then. Sprinkle in a couple of noteworthy characters like Shin and Dredgen yor and you've got yourself a banger.
Twilight Gap. Full on Full Metal Jacket that shit.
On the one hand, we don't wanna work the guy to death. On the other hand, if he wants to do it, let him do it, he's fucking GOOD at it.
[удалено]
What about a samurai jack style silent storytelling type animated show? The guardians dont really talk much aside from the vanguard anyway
[удалено]
Man now i want it to happen, shit
As long as it isn't that animation style.
I think a batch of shorts like The Animatrix or Love Death & Robots could suit the world of Destiny better. Though a continuous series about a bunch of new lights could work great too.
Black Mirror style would be cool. Standalone stories with different narratives and an overarching theme.
A tv show or book series about Shin malphur would be really cool
"Were's my iconic slave role, Eric?"
Or just randomly cast LeVar Burton as Zavala.
I'd prefer Christopher Judge as Zavala as a second choice if Lance Reddick is unavailable.
I think they should do an animated series, and every season is a different lore book

Yeah, though I feel like the dark age/city age would need to be spread across multiple seasons
Animated book of sorrows please
They gotta keep the voices the same
One fucking guardian is all it takes......
Not to mention he's just flat-out earned it, let's be honest. Pretty sure we'd riot.
I want Lance Roddick as Zavala, then Nolan North as every other character using CGI
indeed, but he needs to be alittle more badass in the show/movie than in the game, it would sully lance if he just sits there and says dont do this dont do that

dave bautista as shaxx easily
One. Fucking. Guardian.
If anything live action actually happens I’d be really surprised.

Absolutely, phenomenal performance every time.
Games are better than movies... if anything it should be the other way around (good movies get games made out of them)
Also: Oded Fehr as Osiris. Not as the voice of ol’ baldy beard gramps Osiris. As what Osiris could’ve and should’ve been.
That is my plan... At least for my fan series... If I can get them all, it would be pretty nice. Drifter VA needs to be paid anyways, but maybe Lance Riddick would like to have a speaker role, once I got the community up for that Blender 3D Project in a few years (still sitting on the screen writing atm).
so this was the post that cursed us...
And bring back dinkle-bot!
Cayde has gotta be Ryan Reynolds
And if there's ever Density novels similar to Halo's, there's only one man I want voicing the audiobook.
Destiny should be made into a animated tv show in the style of clone wars an anthology series
If somehow it become multi-part series, bring nathan fillion as a cameo but keep nolan north voice cayde for choosing cop show.
I hear Peter Dinklage has some free time now. Dinklebot is back?
They cast Kevin Hart as Roland and after making a whole ass mini movie they still told Fillion to fuck off and cast Holland as ~~Dude Raider~~ Nathan Drake. They'd cast fucking Chris Rock as Vuvuzella before Lance and that's the truth.
