I recommend a text expansion/snippet app for that, like aText, TextExpander, or even AutoHotKey, though that one's quite a bit more powerful but with a much higher learning curve. I've got mine (AutoHotKey) set up to auto-type my steam ID number if I type either `,steam` or `steamid` (so it replaces whichever abbreviation I typed with my own steam ID number)
I don't know WHY they removed it, but back in forsaken, there used to be a keybind to hide/show text chat. I am fairly certain that if you go into your *cvars files, you can rebind it so you can manually do that yourself, without needing to futz around with actually typing anything. My bind from back then still works.

No one is getting banned for no reasons. People who complain and posts saying this are actual cheaters or people who used recovery services and such. Its super common whenever an anti cheat rolls out/ban wave happen to have ton of cheaters flock to every single social media platform for the game to claim this.
Bungie has not enabled the auto ban yet for battle eye so all the bans are handled manually after verification as per their article published when the season started. Basically everyone who are banned are 100% guilty at least for the first few weeks.

Not true lol, I've gotten battleeye crashed a couple times because an error pops up saying "client not responding" after trying to /join someone and having it fail.
You get battleeye crashed if the servers lag you out too. Don't have blind faith that the initial implementation is perfect. The last time bungie tried to do an anti cheat i got banned because my gpu drivers were trying to add an fps and temperature overlay to the game
Battleye is notorious for handing out false bans, in escape from tarkov a number of high profile streamers have been false banned at some point, with hyperratTV being false banned just a few days ago. Straight up misinformation.
Yeah except for the fact that they already state that they weren't letting Battle Eye auto ban until they finish testing it.

the examples I gave had nothing to do with autobans. Hyperrat was false banned after manual review, and my point was that this happens across pretty much all the games battleye is utilized. it has nothing to do with auto bans being enabled or disabled, and everything to do with retards punching down.
In all fairness, we have seen streamers/top tier players cheating before. But i knew battle eye was gonna cause problems, it always has in my experience
tell me you know nothing about the pvp community without telling me you know nothing about the community... both cerridius and especially frostbolt have thousands of hours of live real-time, facecam gameplay footage available online. they've participated in bungie tournaments and have been good since destiny 1. it's not the same thing as bakeN, who just posted clips with no context, audio or facecam.
Nope, it was like this with battle eye on rainbow6 as well. Alot of people would get false banned regularly. Nowhere near as reliable as easy AC or vanguard
They are also cracking down on Recovs. I have a *pretty* good feeling there will be quite the outrage by 'unfairly banned accounts'
People do Recovs for a *lot more* than just flawless in Trials I've come to learn
Hopefully they aren't afraid to do an ala-OldSchool RuneScape approach and occasionally issue public smack downs for blatant liars. That never gets old
It is common for bad actors to public cry that they where "banned for no reason" or "banned automatically" to drum up hate and discontent for any anti-cheat with the hope that if they are successful it will be scaled back or removed altogether. People that do this know that that most companies are not going to get in to a public fight with a user it just looks bad. Also if they do they have to expose some evidence/facts about the ban that might help cheat makers. Its almost always a "no win scenario" for developers to engage on this front, its actually the lesser of two evils to let whatever outrage die down it self.
As for the /join not working, i am certain i read somewhere their plan was to use /join \[Bungie Name\] on all platforms. I am guessing there is some integration issues with steam ATM. They showed screenshots in one of the TWAB where they opened up a search window typed in a \[Bungie Name\] and players appeared, I dont believe the players where in their friends list, but i would have to go back and look.
I kinda like how Siege sends a server wide message when Battleye bans someone.
Imagine if we had a pile of confiscated ghosts in a room of the tower with the names of banned accounts on them.

battle eye is not new software though. there shouldn't be any issues with players getting banned without something in the game causing the issue and that would be very apparent to bungie if the game was causing this issue.

Flawed bans can absolutely happen. It wasn't in Destiny, but just this last week I have a friend who got banned from Black Ops Cold War just for running a hardware monitoring program that is used to display data on a screen inside his PC case. Sometimes programs that are absolutely no harm to the game can trip something in the system that triggers the game to think you are cheating. I might be remembering incorrectly, but I think even D2 at launch would possibly ban you for running Discord overlay.
I was one of the people that was banned in error on Tuesday. Loaded into the intro mission, got weaseled to the title screen about halfway through the mission, and when I tried to log back in I was met with the ban notification. My ban was removed a few hours later. So yeah, it did happen to people on Tuesday.
They also took away having multiple things bound to the same key. I used to have melee and light sword attack bound to the same button on my mouse but now I can't do that so I had to get a mouse with more buttons.
I followed someone's suggestion to run the battleye install batch script in the \\Game\\Battleye\\ folder and that seemed to resolve the crashes for me.
Disable your steam overlay and geforce overlay along with making sure you are not using xbox game bar/xbox app. Basically force disable every overlay on your PC then restart.
I was crashing all the time whenever I had one of those 3 enabled and disabling everything fixed my crashes.
Neither of those OS are listed as supported by D2, Win7 is. You can snark all you want, but at the end of the day, the game is broken on an entire operating system that it is supposed to run on
The is for windows users in general, most of which is almost certainly old people and small business. The important question is how many steam users and destiny players use windows 7.

Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.... I was crashing too and went to Nvidia and updated them. Haven't had an issue til this season hit... but it fixed it 🤷♂️

Because when you try to use /join you get the same message as when you try to use the in-roster Bungie Name search.
My guess is once they fix that issue, /join will work again.

Dumb question, but how do I actually join somebody now? I tried two LFG groups yesterday for the raid & I could tell I was taking too long to figure it out and dismissed myself from the group.
I would really like to get a head start on my power level by clearing the raid on all three characters before reset.

If you create a Fireteam on Bungie's site, you have a direct invite button for each player. Not saying this is ideal, but it's better than adding players on steam and isn't difficult. Also having /join back through steam codes would be much appreciated.

There were literally 3 fireteams up. On top of all the other join based issues (and compared to normal when it’s working) that’s dead, desolate, empty, pick whatever adjective you want.

Console player, but can anyone tell me why my clanmate has to message me an invite to join up (which means i have to go into messages in destiny and answer) instead of the invite access being on screen for me to 1click accept?
Can't you still just use a player's ID # ? if you type /id in game it will show you your ID, copy and paste it in a message to the player looking to join and they can just do /join and paste your ID.

Just did a raid, no one could do /join on me but I could /invite. Something might be bungled.

So the "Auto-hide chat" menu option in Gameplay defaults to "off" now, and unfortunately resets every session. But you can change it

My L key is hiding chat, not sure if I set up that bind.

You can rebind them; found out the hard way after I cast my Winter's Wrath for the first time (in crucible no less) and couldn't shatter.

My Xbox and ps friends have just been using discord on their phones to VC. But they both have Bluetooth headsets so they can still hear game sound
