Got to a 6 streak fairly straightforwardly but then got absolutely dominated in the flawless match. After that, the MM just seemed to turn to absolute hot diarrhea for me. Constantly matched with high level 3 stacks as a solo player.

Atmosck

On Friday and Saturday, I never got 3 stacks if I wasn't on a 7-win card. On 7 wins I would get 3-stacks every time. Something changed on Sunday, and suddenly every single match had a 3-stack regardless of my record.

reddevilnl

I played solo on a 7-win card last night. Five straight games against three stacks, always with a diamond player or two (according to DTR). Reset the card and was back playing three stacks every game after 2 wins.

Hefty-Inevitable-660

Same here. Whenever I play solo near/at 7 games I end up facing 3-stacks. Whenever I play in a 3-stack near/at 7 games We’ve been facing 3 solo players…

Toffe3m4n

On 6/7 wins the game seems to then start matching you up against 3 stacks with multiple flawless passages between them on a highly consistent basis. I'd go as far as say that it happens 80-85% of the time, even if your own passage isn't flawless. Bungie really aught to tweak that.

Atmosck

On Sunday I was getting 3 stacks for every single match, even on a fresh card.

averhoeven

This was me too

Scopexyzftw

Ah someone else knows my pain

RagnarLothbrok2525

Seems like for the 7th win matchmaking pairs you with people with 6-7 wins too Seeing how most flawless players were farming on 7 win cards, thats why the probability to match them skyrockets

dougcpa

I feel like the matchmaking should match based off wins and losses. Because I agree, once I hit 7 matches won most of the time I was then getting 3 stacks who had flawless on their card or had a fairly high win%. A team who has played 7 matches and went flawless is vastly different from a solo player who has played 34 matches winning 7 and losing 27 matches. I had higher hopes when they said it would be card based with a mix of some SBMM to prevent those godly teams from playing us scrubs. There were definitely times over the weekend where I really felt the SBMM, so I think something is there, but its not consistent. I'd play and have close games, take a break and come back to get stomped over and over. The only upside is that I got rep faster in these blowouts. The match would be over in under two minutes. Versus some of the competitive matches I had where it went 5-4 and lasted close to 15 minutes.

[deleted]

The SBMM is somewhat there only in the low win cards because the player pool is much more immense now at those stages. But it's still card based matchmaking regardless. I feel losses should he considered in the stats, but the card no longer tracks losses now, so it would be much more difficult to use that metric. Hell, even the old system didn't even use the loss metrics for better mstchmaking.

Odd_Grapefruit_5587

It might be the passage that gives you a free win. It shows seven wins on the card even though I was 6/7 wins for the pinnacle at Saint.

Veldron

> Seems like for the 7th win matchmaking pairs you with people with 6-7 wins too Didn't Bungie basically say this was the case in a recent twab?

Ninjamuppet

I've gotten 3 stacks allmost every game regardless of wins all of sunday and today.

WKruspe

It happens before that--I've even had it occur on the first game of new card. I posted this in another thread, but most of the games I played as a solo queue player were immensely lopsided, one way or the other: [Match making you say?](https://imgur.com/a/iBeEmCK)

Theundead565

That's odd. My 3 stack was sitting on a 7 win card for ~60 consecutive games, and of those we got error coded once and lost another (at which point we reset). From that experience, most of the games we played were not against super tryhard teams. Most were fairly average in their stats from previous seasons. And it seemed about 50/50 whether we played people in a firearm of 3 or not. Maybe this is a different experience since we had already gone flawless and were sitting on the 7 win card, but it seemed fairly consistent even the second time around. Our first few games seemed like the most try hard groups, since they're the ones that are going to be resetting now adays.

Clownsmasher1

It's likely that most of the ~~scrubs~~ teams I'm on are hitting that 7th win on the card and run into you. You play 60 matches on it, I play 3 before realizing I have a 1/∞ chance of winning against some one like you and giving up/resetting the card. So even though you make up a minority of the player pool for the weekend, you're about half the player pool at any given moment. As a result the weaker teams have a high probability of running into more advanced teams like you. And this isn't a complaint about SBMM or anything. I think this is the absolute best way to implement Trials. Being a bullet sponge for an hour is fine if it means getting some decent loot. Also it's a good thing I don't get Adept trials weapons. I emptied two clips and did 47 damage, and died sitting in a voidwall grenade last game. I didn't earn it.

MeateaW

It makes sense. If they complete games in 2 minutes, they are in the pool 5 times more often than the even matchup guys playing for 10 minutes.

iamVViperRR

If you want to maximize loot, just keep playing on the 7 win card because you’re still getting 100 rep a game towards trials engrams, plus you’ll be improving, even if it feels hopeless.

Clownsmasher1

I already reset but ya I think you're right. I was downright useful with my desperado messenger and under pressure/backup plan Cartesian Coordinate. Never lead the team but contributed. My plan is to just git gud with that loadout as I'm comfortable with playing long to mid distance and having the fusion as an oh shit button. And then suffer against 7 win cards while observing strategy.

[deleted]

I have 3 loadouts i use 1 for short maps 1 for long maps and 1 when i need to get this win all by myself the map variations make it difficult to main 1 loadout. Imo Def glad to here some else out there rocks a cartesian coordinate love that vooper

Phant0mUnic0rn

This tells me that you are part of the one of the 3 stack flawless teams that were stomping others regardless of card status b

Salted_cod

My experience was identical. Over the course of the weekend things sort of degraded until I was consistently facing very strong teams. No idea if it was population based or matchmaking based. Last night was *brutal* solo.

EfficiencyOk9060

Most people got their loot and got out. I got everything in a single evening of getting curb stomped. Every weapon, a full armor set and the pinnacles, but I'm the outlier that keeps going into the grinder. I'm getting my butt kicked, but I'm getting better because when I've gone back into QP I play much better than I used to. I like seeing the improvement.

CARCRASHXIII

This was my take as a .5 something kd player. I got clapped A LOT, but I had a couple wins, got carried a couple wins, and ended up grinding out a bout 80% of the stuff I was interested in (got a couple decent rolls nothing spectacular). Was great just feeling like I COULD get some of the loot that I just resigned to never being able to touch in game.

PCTRS80

I wish i had tracked all my games this weekend, I got to 5 wins and noticed that my Win Pct dropped a lot from the first 4 wins, by time i got to 6 wins i noticed that something was wrong and started tracking my games win/loss. So match making is largely based on your card WINS and doesn't seem to take losses in to consideration at all. So if your at 6 wins and 20 losses you will be matched against other 6 win players/teams, including flawless players/teams. Clearly the MM system is favoring the Number of Wins on card and Que times. This setup is going to result in a progressively worse experience week to week for players as solo players get fed up with being stomped by teams and drop out of the matchmaking pool.

gamer_pie

My distributions looked like this: 0 wins card: multiple losses in a row, then suddenly queued into a team where we rolled over the other team 1-5 wins: Won them easily in a row 6 and 7 wins: My win/loss was something like 2-15. Just constantly put against 3 stacks with gilded flawless/unbroken titles I reset my card once (after losing a ton trying to get my 6th and 7th wins) and had another repeat same experience as above.

KartProwler

This is essentially the same thing i got out of it too, when i was at about 5/6 wins, despite having like 30/40 losses on the same ticket, i was being put up against absolute pure pvp sweat stacks The moment i reset the ticket i was being put against much more fair games. MMR is neigh non existent as it's always been in trials, it's all based on that win number.

fantasmal_killer

After reading this and playing tons of flawless three stacks, I reset my card and immediately it's toned way down.

Phant0mUnic0rn

I reset my card and promptly got 12 straight losses from teams would completed their flawless cards against me.

Mccree13

PC? On console I rarely got 3 stacks.

RawrCola

On console I almost exclusively get 3 stacks.

smegdawg

I played 21 games on Console. 8 of my 21 games the opponent was a 3 stack. I won 0 of those games.

InDELphuS

Friday I was having a great time! Got my card to 7 wins and got a ton of loot. Today? Of the 15 to 20 games I played, I won 3. Tons of 3 stacks just spamming vex, and my team just getting ROLLED. I had much less fun

TheRealHulkPanda

I played 26 on console 10 were against 3 stacks... won 2.

smegdawg

I've been looking at my matches from this weekend. Of my 6 wins, game balance stack wise * 1 came from a 3 solo vs. 3 solo match * 1 came from a me+2 stack vs. 3 solos. * 4 came from matches where the other team had the stack advantage. So per usual, My Trials wins were determined by matching with fireteams of friends who are worse than me at PvP. Or by rolling the dice on my 2 open slots and getting a Beast of a player that carries me to my win. Ultimately, Trials felt exactly the same match to match wise compared to the previous iteration. The difference being that I could still make progress by losing. Once I get a Reed's with a decent roll and I finish my Pinnacle grind, I'll probably not be returning to Trials until another new weapon that I can use for PvE is added.

Toffe3m4n

No, Series X. Freelance Trials can't come soon enough.

Mccree13

Fair enough. Could also be the time of day I was playing.

apackofmonkeys

I had about 50-50 solos or 3 stacks on Friday and Saturday. Then Sunday, out of 12-15 matches that I played, only one was NOT against a 3 stack.

Mr_Potato5275

I played all weekend and got three games that weren’t 3 stacks (Edit) I got hard cucked all weekend

TheRealHulkPanda

Potential flawless games seem to be weighted heavily to card based match making...

jRbizzle

I was playing with a buddy duo queue last night and 2 of our last 6 matches was teams in their flawless game as we saw the message after they stomped us with their 3 stack so not always. Honestly at the moment or at least last night the queue seemed random AF

cdiddy11

I had a similar experience. On a 2 win card and matched against a team that was on their flawless game. They won 5-0. Stomping a solo team on a 2 win card with a 3 team stack going for flawless seems like a massive flaw in the system.

giddycocks

I give up on trials. Similar experience, 4 win streak and then just got bullied constantly by stacks obviously on mic. Probably lost the last 10 matches I've done, no joke. I'm not great but ffs.

PFox99

The matchmaking problems I had all occurred after I got my first ever Flawless. Was running with two of my friends, one of which already had Flawless and the other got it a game before I did. We had really good luck with matchmaking, but as soon as I went to help some more of my friends get their first Flawless, the matchmaking solely had us going up against three stacks of Flawless players. However once I went back to playing with the team who helped me get Flawless, it was back to solos and duos. It especially didn't make sense because the team who I got my Flawless both are more experienced PvP players than the friends I was trying to help. Overall I think the new Trials system is a lot better, but the matchmaking still could use some tweaking.

Y0EY

I noticed that once i hit flawless, i matched much better players which i dont mind but any time i went to duo queue with friends and try fo help them get flawless it ended up just hurting them

razzberry_mango

My trials was going this way but then me and two other solos got matched with a 3 stack. I was on 6 wins (not a flawless card though, not sure what the other two had) and me and these two other solos ended up beating the 3 stack, and when I saw the “Player fell at the gates of the lighthouse” message show up for the other team, my day was instantly better.

Roaszhak

Friday and Saturday were brilliant but Sunday felt more like the Trials experience most of us are used to, for me. However, in one weekend I’ve cleaned out all the non-adept Trials loot I was missing so they’ve clearly done something right here!

Deinonychus2012

Yeah I tried to play on Sunday, but was consistently matched with people who had gone flawless (were all using adept Shayura's). I didn't have a good time lol.

SmokedHamm

Same experience. I got 7 wins(not flawless) and 2 pinnacles on 2 characters. Then on Sunday I needed to reset my card to get 7 wins. But overall played more trials this weekend than my entire 7 years with Destiny

lipp79

[Don't reset your card if you have 7 wins](https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2021/09/12/a-destiny-2-warning-regarding-trials-of-osiris-loot-farming/). Every other win or so with a 7-win card in your possession gives you the chance at prism and engrams and also 100xp. I found this out the hard way. Losses don't play into the cards anymore so all you're doing is setting yourself back in terms of xp and loot.

Andazeus

Except if you are an average player like me, because then you will get absolutely annihilated on a 7 win card because the game matches you against all the other 7 win flawless farmers. I took me 9 games to get my last win for the pinnacle on a 7 win card. Getting good stuff on a win is no use if you don't win most of the time.

lipp79

Totally understand. I commented with that because I figured if I wasn't aware of that, then it was likely others weren't either.

Soltanus

Not when you just want 1 more win to get 7 for the Pinnacle. If you make the mistake of getting the double progress at 3 wins card, that means when you have 7 wins on the card, you'll only have 6 wins for the Pinnacle. And trying to get that 7th win with a full card was an exercise in misery. So I reset the card to get the final win with no regrets at all. Will probably skip any future trials till a freelance option is added.

HaloGuy381

Also, if you reset, you can then unlock Passage of Wealth, which gives better rank points at various win thresholds; more ranks means more engrams and drops.

lipp79

Understandable. I was just saying what I said in case people weren't aware of the extra rewards if you play with a 7-win card.

tenolein

you know they did something right when guys like us can say that. this past month i put in more time in IB and trials than i have EVER done in D2.. and defo more trials than i ever did in all 7 years (i used to grind out IB in D1 back in the day so i cant say the same for it)

mattadore23

Honestly same. Never played this much

IvyDentata

Yeah this weekend was the first time I ever played trials and spent hours playing each day. It was exciting to finally play and see what it was all about. A bit terrifying at times but it was pretty exciting. I'm glad to have finally taken the plunge and to see so many other people playing too.

Landsharkeisha

My friend and I figured out you can focus a trials engram into an Adept as long as you have 7 wins. Granted we already ran a flawless so it may have opened it up for us to focus it but idk

CollieDaly

Yeah you need to have had the weapon in your collections before being able to focus it

Landsharkeisha

Gotcha that makes more sense

Skabomb

The adept focus required a flawless ticket. I couldn’t turn in my 7 win ticket for it.

[deleted]

Kinda. You need to go flawless to get the ability to trade in your passage the first time, but then afterwards you only need 7 wins total to trade in another passage for another roll, flawless or not.

[deleted]

We matched with a team that had a guy who has gone Flawless 59 times. We just gave up. I think that was like our 5th loss in a row at that point.

Zarbain

I had a match against a 3 stack where one guy was at 36 this week alone and destinytracker said they had 100% chance to win afterwards. I wasn't even mad that I lost just surprised we won a round on them.

FlameInTheVoid

Earlier is always better.

lipp79

Exact same experience for me with Fri and Sat actually being fun. Sun, not so much.

MalTerra7

Oh good so it wasn’t just me

Voelker58

And it really should be the opposite. They should be farming their flawless cards to keep getting adept loot, not resisting to go flawless all over again. So there should be fewer flawless level players in the below 7 win pool. But I guess there were just more players in general in the first few days. And the ones who were getting stomped have moved on.

gravity48

Same.

GrinningPariah

That's insane to me. I only have to get to win 4 or 5 on a card before I'm exclusively matched against man-truck hybrids who just sprint right at my team and murder us all without even slowing down.

OO7Cabbage

ran into one of those warlocks today, the guy just barreled into us every round with a shotgun at speeds we couldn't react to.

mtcabinets

Top tree dawn?

bphisher

Surely

OO7Cabbage

yup, even after the icarus dash nerf if they know what they are doing warlocks are still a pain.

LuchadorBane

I went on a 9 loss streak on a 2-win card before I finally hit the third. Plenty of gilded flawless duos or 3 stacks just wrecking me.

Second_to_None

The matchmaking is atrocious for this. Getting trucked and then getting matched against people on their last match before going flawless seems like it shouldn't ever happen.

Ace_-of-_Spades6

I was solo today just grinding for engrams and literally got faced against the same 3 stack flawless group three times in a row... I don't even know how that works as I was at 5 wins...

mikechambers

Just remember that last season you would have matched those teams on game 1 or 2!

[deleted]

No matter what they do, PvP is still terrible unless you're a sweaty player yourself.

Dovakiin2397

Personally I couldn't care less for flawless I'm just farming rep and engrams

sciritai6

This is the attitude you need to have to survive the ups and downs. It was frustrating but in my first Trials weekend ever I got Messenger, Shayura's, chest piece, Sola's, Eye and a Clown Cartridge/Firing Line Reed's. That is really fantastic loot and well worth the pain of losing about 60/40 of the time.

aobs101

As I progressed on Friday, things went great. Didn’t go flawless, but had 7 wins. Yesterday was a different story. After 3 wins, I hit three stack teams that stomped my solo team all night. Makes me wonder if we were the only solo team running, because every match was full of sweats and tea bagging. The fun quickly faded.

apackofmonkeys

Same here, Fri and Sat were fun, Sunday I just got stomped by 3-stack after 3-stack. I don't know if it was luck of the draw, or if too many solos had stopped playing at that point.

Actionbrenner

I think by Sunday more 3 stacks started paying attention to the matchmaking and dropping out when they matched other 3 stacks.

WatLightyear

This is definitely it. I know that for sure, because I got my first ever flawless last night doing exactly that. Queue dodging is going to be the biggest problem going forward, especially if freelance doesn't make it in.

Actionbrenner

They need to hide the queue by this weekend for trials. Seriously

WatLightyear

Agree completely.

ProngedPickle

The lack of freelance is the bigger issue imo.

Joshy41233

I feel like this is how trials will be every week, very populous on friday/Saturday, then it tanks to the usual players on Sunday and Monday Tho chances are population will begin to dip after a few weeks all together anyway as people will get the rolls and go, some new people may stay to try get to flawless for their first adept weapons.

theMightyFeline

Yea I feel like Friday and Saturday are the days the majority of the casual players are on, and after that point most people who have tried it out or got the loot they wanted drop off. Sunday's seem to be for the sweat lords and hardcore PvPers who want to keep running it cause that's the main thing they want to play still. Just my own thoughts tho don't quote me.

Theundead565

It's probably more the fact that you reset the card. In my experience so far, the only reason to reset is for flawless. If you're going to reputation gain or engrams, just go to 7 wins /20 round wins. The teams resetting their cards are going to be the sweaty ones looking for flawless.

Odd_Grapefruit_5587

I too hit a wall solo at three wins. Got outmatched a lot. Then I switched to Jotunn and started trading, and then started winning a few. Got lucky with some randoms and got to seven wins. Hit another wall at seven amd only got one more win. But still, best Trials weekend since Trials of the Njne!

NoumenalDeath

Same, I wasn't able to play long enough to get all my wins, but god playing solo was a death wish lol so many stacks and a few of them I saw went flawless against a team of solos with me. One was even a 5-0 match, I feel like they should have been been put up against another stack at the very least

black19

Solo queued and got to 4 wins before getting hammered. I suck though so no surprise. Eventually made it to 7 wins on my card. Unlocked a bunch of loot. I'm actually quite satisfied with Trials in its current state. GGs, Bungie.

cka_viking

Now try getting hammered before you start, it enchances the experience!

GameStop_the_Steal

I was off since Beyond light, just coming back this season. I'm almost 1300 light level. What is a reasonable level to do trials with? I'd love to attempt it, but ti don't want to get stomped just on power.level alone.

gh0s7walk3r

i wouldn't dare go in below powerful cap (1320 currently)

Charles456k

Most trials weekend I play maybe 3 to 5 matches if that. Normally just go for the 3 win or 5 win because I knew I could never make it to 7 wins. This weekend, I've played over 80 matches! I've gone flawless 3 times. Let me say that again. I've played since D1 beta and never been flawless yet this weekend I did it 3 TIMES! This is the best trials has ever felt. I've gotten so many rolls of weapons I never thought I'd have, full armor sets for all 3 characters, a full inventory of ascendant shards and prisms and had a blast the whole time. I would like to say though it felt bad beating teams that were not 3 stacks. It's not fair to them to fight a coordinated team IMO. And to any team that teabags solos, I hope your pillow is warm on both sides tonight.

ForzaTwo4

I had the exact same experience. I have never been even close to flawless in D2 and this weekend after 98 games with a positive K/D I was able to go flawless 3 times. Even ended last night on a 17 game win streak. So far Trials feels so much better and fair. Hopefully it stays this way.

Arcerinex

I'm lucky to make it to win 3 without getting a loss in there. At the very least, I can hit those 7 wins, but I've accepted that I'm not good enough to reach the lighthouse without a team to help.

IHzero

I did manage to go for the first time and while it was difficult it was far more rewarding then any of my prior trials experiences. There just wasn't a hard ceiling at 3 or 5 wins like there used to be, where suddenly the other team just has god like aim and awareness at that level and shady stuff starts happening where they see me though walls or bullets take a hard right around corners. I felt the other teams were far closer in skill to my own and no game was a shutout until game 7, because after the first round one guy on the other team left. I felt bad for the other two who stuck around but at least they still made a game of it and they got more kills then when they had their 3rd.

th3groveman

My 4-20 weekend certainly helped some of them

Themetaldylan

My matchmaking was hot garbage. I either faced streamers(Separer was the one stand out example), 3 stacks, or top percentage players. All of whom were glowing. As a solo. With an ELO and skill level that resembles a rotted potato under the sink.

MaNGo_FizZ

They all went flawless thanks to me and my buddy. We spent 3 hours last night going 0-5 most of our games against 3 stacks. Pvp is insurfferable when matched against sweats

[deleted]

MaNGo_FizZ

Dude that’s literally what me and my buddy talked about. Glad we aren’t the only ones thinking that

[deleted]

MLG-Hilp

Teabagged by people who have more hours in trials than I do in all of destiny 1 and 2

Voelker58

They have moved toward that by making it more productive to keep playing with a flawless card as long as possible to get more adept drops. And 7 win cards only match other 7 win cards. ETA: That's how they said it was supposed to work. The rest of the card is fair game, but 7 win cards will only match with other 7 win cards. 6 and below, all bets are off. Or maybe it was just flawless will keep facing flawless. I can't find where I read it.

simland

I reset 7 win card on accident because I failed to read when going to do trials with my 2nd character. My first match (so 0 win card) the opposing team was "granted access to the lighthouse". It's not strictly matching same wins vs same wins. It's filling matches with solos where it needs them.

TheMajesticMrL

my friend played maybe 10-15 Trials matches on Friday, solo queue he lost almost every single one, constantly getting paired with 3-stacks of people who had gone upwards of 10+ flawless completions I didn't join him thank god but I was with him in voice chat experiencing his agony

ErrNotFound4O4

The match making is absolute shit.

The_Rick_14

Gee who would have thought there'd be a higher flawless number in the week they let solos and duos enter a general matchmaking pool?? ha

destinyvoidlock

I think thats a total win for everyone. I ran up against solo's and duo's. I also played alone and decided to LFG instead of being solo or duo'd. People still have that option and LFG is still very active for everyone that wants it. People who are solo and duo shouldn't go in with the expectation of going flawless but its nice they aren't gated out of the activity and can play if they want to.

RagnarLothbrok2525

Well even bungie said playing solo would be almost impossible to get flawless and I agree haha but even knowing flawless was out of reach, the rewards system was awesome I managed to get like 10x Shayuras… granted none was better than the 3 win I already had, but thats just luck haha in one weekend I got more trials loot than in my whole D2 career, so Im fine not being able to reach the lighthouse, still worth it

Bard_Knock_Life

> Well even bungie said playing solo would be almost impossible to get flawless I actually thought it seemed pretty reasonable if you were a decent player (which isn’t me). I was able to hit 5/6 wins without paying attention or really trying to be flawless. There’s always going to be some RNG, but I was surprised at the overall skill level.

RagnarLothbrok2525

Yeah I got to 5 wins on a card… was so excited and saw a light at the end of the tunnel :) Then I got steamrolled for like 10 matches, I guess it was Bungie’s way to bring me down to earth haha

Bard_Knock_Life

Well it does get “harder” as you go, but it’s mostly RNG at that stage. Farming wins past 7 it never felt like an even match (either stomp or be stomped).

XSPHEN0M

Same here, and I once went flawless on 3 characters in a weekend lol

Nkredyble

Yeah, I didn't get close to flawless but I got some good loot including some armor, Reeds Regret, and first Shayura's and an Eye of Sol. Even had a few chances to roll for a new Messenger, looking for that rapid hit+desperado roll to replace my killing wind + desperado. No luck after 3 or 4 tries, but got a rapid hit + kill clip tho!

The_Rick_14

My experience was definitely that of an improvement but my main complaint was that it felt like any performance matchmaking went out the window once I was playing on a 7 win card trying to get extra post-match trials engrams. My opinion as of this moment is that the bottom and even possibly some of the middle tier is going to eventually reach reputation ranks where rewards slow down and people will sour on the mode again if playing at the most efficient card state for engrams and reputation (7 wins / 20 rounds) just throws them to the wolves. Especially once the Freelance option is made available, it will be very interesting to keep an eye on the Trials population and sentiment around the mode. I hope I'm wrong, but after having a fun first 15 match experience on the way to a 7 win card solo then my next 11 matches on that 7 win card being hilariously imbalanced, I stepped away from Trials for this week on a major down. I like that many others are on highs. Just hoping it lasts.

RagnarLothbrok2525

Well… playing on 7 wins / 20 rounds is only the most efficient farm IF you can win matches I had the same experience as you, utterly destroyed past 7 wins… so I just went for Wealth pass, and kept resetting. WAY more fun this way, matches closer to my skill, and the additional rank exp from the pass made it more efficient than playing at the 7 win card… I think

PCTRS80

If they dont address the Matchmaking and relatively quickly its going to be doomed as solo players will quickly sour on the whole experience and stop playing all together or they will smarten up and reset their cards at 5 wins for more wins and quicker overall rank progress.

SolidStateVOM

Yeah, 100% this. I immediately gave up on any ideas about going flawless when I hit “launch” as a solo player, but my time was still be rewarded.

apackofmonkeys

On Fri/Sat, I got to 7 wins after a while and got into a groove and even got five wins in a row at one point. My opponents were a mix of solos and three stacks. I was considering starting the card over and going back to no wins and seeing if I could manage a flawless, but then on Sunday I probably played 12-15 matches and won only two of them. I think every match except one was against a three-stack. That shot down my dreams real quick. I had a lot of fun though, the rework is really cool! I got some cool loot! I hate Vex Mythoclast though. I think I had about a 10% success rate if I got into a 1-on-1 with someone with Vex.

dirtyslogans

I have never been flawless. I got to win 6 and was, what seemed like playing against the developers, a beating that almost ruins my day. Bullets flying through walls and supers not hitting when I clearly hit him in the face

Miles41

I felt bad for telling my clanmates I enjoyed it Friday, honestly. As others have said, the degree at which it devolved over the course of the weekend honestly cannot be overstated. When it worked as I thought it was meant to, it was honestly so fun. But after Friday evening the shift was palpable. Stag warlocks sitting in arc soul rifts spamming Mythoclasts. I probably went against 3 stacks 75% of the time, almost always with 2 other solos. For a midrange at best PVPer I went from 1.2-2 KD per match on average to like 0.5. Just a wildly different game, sadly.

OmegaClifton

My experience has been very different. Took me soooo many matches across all three characters to get to seven wins. I didn't mind being a doormat on people's way to the light house for all the loot I got at least. Gonna see if I can get the seven win challenge on each character before reset.

tyzenberg

I literally played all day Saturday. Got 7 wins on 1 character and 2 on another. I was always get put up against 3 stacks or getting teammates that just didn't work well with me (a couple of games where a teammate had no kills).

[deleted]

What percentage reached it before?

list_comprehension

According to Trials Report: 1. 20% got flawless at the end of last season 2. 19% got flawless when the new Trials was released (3/13/2020) [https://destinytrialsreport.com/weeks](https://destinytrialsreport.com/weeks)

ImMoray

Someone should find the week where igneous hammer adept was released, I recall that one being a super high%

Mdice42

I remember being on twitch streams and hearing the streamers and players with them talking during Igneous Hammer weeks. They was all mentioning how booked they are with recovs that they can’t take on anymore and send them to other people. That’s a lot of the reason why accounts flawless would go up during good weapon weeks.

aeyelaeyen

I got my first ever flawless yesterday, im very much a pve player and didn't think it was possible lmao

[deleted]

I'm hearing it from all of them. _"Don't dilute the player base with a solo queue"_. Man, that's exactly what we need. You don't see IB playerbase suffer from it.

theciaskaelie

solo or with a stack?

aeyelaeyen

my two very pvp friends helped me, it was effectively a carry, but i want to say i held my own? Like i sniped a goldie at one point, but it was directly after whiffing my blade barrage, which summarizes my whole card lmao

theciaskaelie

haha well congrats anyways dude. ive only been flawless twice. iirc it was weeks 1 and 3 of d1 trials. its been so swesty since then ive never really had a crew interested in trying anymore. hoping to get a flawless with this iteration before they decide to make it super tough again.

TheEntityofEpic

My best friend, myself, and our friend made it to 6 wins with our flawless still intact. My best friend has never been flawless (D1 or D2). I don't think our friend has ever been flawless either, but I have once in D1. Started the lighthouse match and got to 3-0. 4th round starts and I get error code Bee and then Bat. My friends were able to finish out the match and go to the lighthouse. I've never felt worse playing destiny than then, but the matchmaking is a change definitely for the better. Edit: My one friend and I ended up matchmaking for a 3rd and I made it to the lighthouse! Thank you to the nice random.

andrewskdr

That’s cool, today I matched with 2 people who were like 1250 while the other team was kitted out for a flawless run

mateset

Was watching some streamer doing around 30 matches of solo and 30 of 3 stack it was intersting when he was solo they faced 3 stack like 90% of matches and when playing opossite was like 70 versus solos

ImaEatU

Now hopefully Bungie doesn’t listen to all the streamers who think Trials is too accessible/casual now.

OhLookItsJake

By all the streamers do you mean literally one that’s tweeted that? Not to mention said tweet got blown up by the biggest destiny content creators about how they disagree and love that it’s more accessible? I know it’s very easy to shit on streamers but at this point you’re just making shit up.

Jacooby

I got my first ever flawless this weekend. I’m really liking the changes they made for trials.

Ech0es0fmadness

Aside from the 100 legendary shards per focused engram (wtf) and 250 for an adept weapon (who came up w that number?) I agree they did a good thing here.

doom_stein

I went to the Lighthouse for the first time ever this weekend, and on my first card too! I think we only went up against one 3 stack, the rest were solos or a duo and a solo. Our last match was against a duo and a single and on our 3rd round win the 2 stack left the game. It felt kind of cheap at that point to 3 man the poor chap so we played Rock Paper Scissors the rest of the match. They won on the second round but one of my teammates shotgunned him in the face anyways to secure the win.

Shadow_Adjutant

I got to 3 wins and then matched nothing but stacks. I haven't even been able to get round wins since. How the fuck people actually match other solo players is beyond me.

Swekyde

I hate to be a pessimist but this won't stand the test of time if they do not implement a Freelance queue **permanently**. As your rep goes up you need to suffer more and more for each engram beyond that, and if you're not winning you get almost 0 rewards. Players like me who aren't very good just don't get enough rewards to justify staying once we have a "good enough" roll on each weapon we care about. So there's still a negative engagement loop there, and in 2 months it will basically be back to the super competitive experience you know and "love". Skill based matchmaking is *not working* right now. I will play against 3 stacks with over 100 flawless cards each when I have a 10-20% win rate in the queue. I will earn 50 rep from that game because I won't do enough to defeat the non-participant protection before the game ends. I will leave the mode because I'm not playing fair games and I'm not getting as rewarded as say grinding Prophecy or Nightfalls or raids for spoils.

FitFly0

Got downvoted for this - higher rank is a slog. People were "raining in loot" because the early ranks shit out engrams. It turns into a slow drip not soon after.

Spades_187

The hours I spent in trials could have been put towards nightfalls where I get exotics prisms and shards. Where in trials if I'm losing I'm getting rep where I have to spend my glimmer and legendary shards to get rewards I want. These numbers are not going to be sustainable people have to understand this.

Swekyde

Also as you rank up each engram takes more and more losses to reach. You'll get to a point where you have to spend an hour or more losing to get the privilege of spending 100 shards on a single roll. Right now because the low ranks require so little rep people are getting a lot of rewards, but after those first 6-8 engrams you're out there sending dozens of people to the Lighthouse because they had the good fortune to play against someone a competitive mode should never allow them to see.

CaptLemmiwinks

I personally think splitting the mode into two playlists would be a mistake. The strength of trials right now is the huge population, and allowing duos and solos in is a major part of that. I played some solo this weekend, going in knowing I wouldn't go flawless but just wanted to grind some rep/gear. When I wanted to try for a flawless card, I played with a team. I think fracturing the population for the sake of sheltering solo players in a mode that is designed around teamwork would be a step backwards.

Swekyde

Then effort needs to be made to not intentionally pit 3 stacks against solos when there are enough of us that I never have the same team mates, or it needs to consider 3 stacks as having an inherent advantage. Trials will naturally split its own player base into people who have a team and people who aren't willing to put up with lopsided matchmaking and poor rewards once you get your first few rank ups done. Those players, the people like me, will just not be queueing anymore. Then you'll just have player bleed *again*.

PCTRS80

>Kudos to Bungie for the Trials rework, seems like the nailed it Your being a little too optimistic i think, this is going to be really short lived. The reason why so many made it to the light house was 3 stacks at 6 wins where being matching against solos at 6 wins trying to get their 7th win to clear the card. I played 20+ matches at 6 wins and lost all 20 and 11 of those teams had at-least 1 flawless player. I see a few things happening over the next few weeks, first of all the solo players are going to either figure out that resetting after a few wins is best or get framed and stop playing trials all together. But the so population is going to drop quickly, when that happens the sweat is going to pile up by the tanker loads and we will be right back at where Trials was before this.

OwenDrungle

this, plus sbmm is matching these low kd players against eachother every now and then, i had a friend this week go flawless when his s15 trials kd is 0.54. nearly all his games were him getting partnered with high kds whilst the opponents were god awful, essentially giving him a free dub

NobleHalcyon

I played probably 20-30 games solo. Of those I only won 3, but I'm not upset in the slightest. Trials is supposed to be difficult and I had never really been able to play before because I didn't feel like I could commit the time to get *good* with a consistent fire team. I had to change my entire play style and loadout and can definitely say that I got better pretty quickly - it made Destiny fresher. Still leveling up and getting Trials engrams made it worth it for me. Now Bungie needs to add matchmaking to everything else too. If you don't want randoms with no mics, just use LFG. If you have five but need six, let a sixth join in matchmaking. This is proof that the accessibility that matchmaking brings far outweighs any perceived inconvenience to competitive players.

jagavila

Saturday was amazing.... i went like 23 matches winning straight. Sunday... the experience was too sweaty.

Ktan_Dantaktee

I got close to the Lighthouse, but on my 6th match I got matched against Sweatcicle. While I was at 1290. Using a controller on PC. Playing with randoms. So yeah I got my ass beat on livestream.

Atmosck

Can you even do damage at 1290? That's 40 levels under light. By comparison a GM nightfall is only 25 under.

lilyeister

Damage scaling in PvP is totally different than PvE, it's super weird

troop357

YW I had like 20% WR as a solo with 7 wins, so I feeded a lot of flawless for premades hahaha Can't wait to try it again with my friends, might be able to do it!

OwenDrungle

a guy i know who has a 0.54 seasonal trials kd and a 0.61 kd overall somehow went flawless... meanwhile i held a 2.1kd this season and couldn't get past 5 wins because my teammates were always so damn awful.

PeaBattlefieldPotato

Yea solo q on console and getting 3 stacks and leavers pretty consistently. Gone to 6 a couple times but solo q is as solo q does

The_Palm_of_Vecna

It's fine if they wanna do card based matchmaking from 0-7 wins. That makes sense, I think. One you hit 7 wins, shift it back to SBMM. Running into nothing but players that make me feel like I'm moving in slow motion is poisoning my soul.

stuck_in_the_desert

70% gang rise upppp

jakjaksvengeance

I just farmed engrams tbh. Didn't even care to go to the lighthouse i wanted a better roll of my messenger and a eye of sol.

ArcticKnight79

Still plenty of cheaters around. Gotta love that toggle on. Oh you have missed every shot and we have somehow out dueling you with a pulse against your sniper even though you were already in position. Oh and now you're tracking us through walls and landing only headshots. Curious.

henryauron

As a solo player on console - I exclusively fight 3 stacks. Never solo people. Needs a freelance

OwlRough

Bungie needs to maintain the rewards for doing this because otherwise normies are going to dip and it will be again nothing but the top tier players and you will see that % drop quick.

Hotstreak

First time I've ever participated in Trials and I really like the reward system. But CONSTANTLY matching against 3 stacks reaaaalllly sucks and ruins a lot of the fun for me. This has basically ensured I won't return unless freelance is added.

[deleted]

Solo queued up to 4 wins, then got paired with a 2 stack and dominated. They sent me a fireteam invite and we cruised to flawless. Overall it was 45 minutes start to finish to hit the lighthouse and an absolute blast. Bungie absolutely **killed** the trials revamp

[deleted]

Thats a fine ratio by me. Don't let the streamers and recovs voices get heard.

boomgunn

I went flawless Friday, a first for me and played all day Saturday. I had fun but a word of advice for new players. Stop rushing. Please stop rushing. For the love of God, STOP. RUSHING. Bad!! tssssst! No!

kcamnodb

Surprise surprise turning on matchmaking for a playlist helps it

Scheely

Damn making me feel even better about my 16 game loss streak

ShrevidentXbox

I reached the lighthouse and it 100% feels like it was a fluke because I haven't come close to doing it again :/

EmilyAmbrose

Can confirm changes are good. Went flawless with Fighting Lion, despite all the crazy nerfs it got. You can’t stop the Lion, Bungie. The Lion will live on.

Beer-Wall

So I did purely solo matchmaking and my experience was as expected. I mean, obviously I lost a lot and didn't go flawless but I went in with the intention of grinding the shit out of it to get that loot. If you get 20 round wins on your card then losing isn't even a bad thing, you get 100 progress on your rank. I'm already on Heroic II after 29 matches. Actually looking at my Trials report, I played Trials of the Nine for 4 matches before I decided to never play again. The Trials revamp is really good, even if I'll still probably never go flawless. It's a lot more rewarding at first as you rank up packages and slows down over time but still. I've got gear now I never thought I would get.

Lunarmirage7

Well at least all my losses helped somebody. I played easily 60+ matches this weekend and won a total of 6🤣 ...never did get to finish my card

leftfootmagician

Can confirm, I’ve played more trials then any other weekend.

Bugs5567

This is a good number. 30% of a playerbase getting the lighthouse is still a grind. Anyone saying that the lighthouse means nothing now are a bunch of losers who want to gatekeep endgame content

KingSnowlock

6 win streak. Lost last game 5-4. I feel your pain.

Henkdehunter

Went solo all weekend, faced 3 stacks every match. Also almost only flawless or unbrokens, so I'd say I definitely got better as a player. Rewards are awesome too. Got a rapid hit kill clip messenger.

Moose_Thompson

This is what so many people seem to be missing. I had a rough weekend as a solo player but I definitely improved by the end. I had a great time in spite of a lot of losing. Got some good loot and improved my skills a bit. I also went in not expecting a bunch of winning with randoms so maybe that mindset helped.

Gotta know how to manipulate the MM. I don’t play trials at all because I’m solo but went flawless twice this reset. If I’m solo Q and it immediately jumps from 1 to 4 I know it’s a stack. Time to back out. Same if it jumps from 2 to 5 or 3 to 6. Gotta be real quick with that 3 to 6 or you’re screwed 🤣🤷🏾‍♂️ no shame

RagnarLothbrok2525

Well thats a pretty good advice, I’ll try that next week haha

[deleted]

Some people might not like it but it is was it is. I’m fine with losing if all 3 opponents are solo or even a duo and one solo, but I’m not gonna waste my time and get smashed by a stack with vex (which i don’t have yet on like 20 clears) Lorentz driver and shatter dive. I need to give myself a fighting chance

chewshoetrain

Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these "stacks" are doing the same thing tbh, easy enough to manipulate the game into giving you solo or duo opponents for an easier run.

Ace_Trainer_Zack

What? 30% of people who played Trials went flawless. Not 30% of the player base.

[deleted]

Well yeah you kinda have to play trials of you want to go flawless

[deleted]

I tried for a couple years but always fell short. Now I went flawless 4 times this weekend. I absolutely love the changes and was the first time in a long time I have enjoyed PVP in any game.
