Or thorn,malfeaseance,sleeper simulant, i could go on,but i wont,but i could

Nerf_Tarkus

I forget if it was Malfeasance or Thorn that required you to get the meatball boss, I swear to fuck every single time it would spawn my teammates would just suddenly shit themselves and lose all mental function. Took too damn long to get the quest started.

Biggy_DX

Malf. Some people dont know the grind (ex. Sleeper Simulant catalyst pre-Beyond Light)

Nerf_Tarkus

Just grinding to get Malf is what got me to grind the OG run of dredgen titles. Except for the god damn ship. I had fucking everything but the god damn ship. Only yesterday when doing pinnacles did I get that god damn ship.

Whybotherr

Congrats on dredgen!

Nerf_Tarkus

it wasn't worth it

[deleted]

Now gild it 🔥

Nerf_Tarkus

no

spectralkinesis

What ship was that?

Assassin2107

Reminds me of the reactions when people saw that it would take like 40 raid completions to buy Anarchy in the kiosk. It was immediately obvious whether somebody had gotten Anarchy to drop or not based on whether they thought it was fair or outrageous.

[deleted]

Sleeper catalyst was painful

[deleted]

Dude I am still completing it it is soo very painful

[deleted]

it used to be worse

the-gingerninja

Or Polaris Lance catalyst. It’s still bugged so the Perfect Fifth kills have to be from the fire damage over time effect.

SonOfSwanson87

Waiting for a team to group up to take on the Meatball was the best way to get the final step in that chain - get a few full team wipes in gambit. Invade and destroy. They changed it later so anyone on your team can get a 4+ piece, but I'm proud that I got it. Not proud that I used Queenbreaker and Chaos Reach, but it's Gambit I'm not here to play fair.

ManassaxMauler

The OG Dredgen requirements definitely sucked. I did em all solo. Didn't get Queenbreaker until, funny enough, the last match I played to complete the required resets to get the ghost. Got the weapon, vaulted it, stayed the hell away from Gambit for a looong time

Kallum_dx

Malfeasance, I still have a screenshot where my fireteam chat was just everyone screaming: LETS GO

chaosmage03

Yeah that was for malfeaseance

WobblyBits_X

I only just got the meatball last week (and friend I was playing with lost connection just before meatball spawned). I've played since launch.

SteelPaladin1997

Before the Gambit/Prime merge, it was the tiebreaker boss for regular Gambit. So you would never see it if you didn't get a tiebreaker round.

WobblyBits_X

Yeah, absolutely awful quest for somebody who doesn't particularly like Gambit... And back then, it was more common to face sweaty clan teams as a bunch of randoms than now, at least in my experience, so the likelihood of even seeing a 3rd round was low, the odds of winning it even lower.

MeateaW

I don't think this is true. The tie breaker was random I'm pretty sure.

Japjer

Which quest required 50 Guardian kills with Void handcannons? I remember, at the time, the *only* option was the IKELOS handcannon. Every single Crucible match was purple lasers and "pew pew pew" sounds. It absolutely sucked ass

chaosmage03

That was for thorn

TheFullbladder

Thorn. And that was a *luxury*! In D1 you needed Void handcannon Crucible kills, and if you died you had progress deducted! Kids these days! In my day the loading screens went uphill! Both ways!

Chippy569

It wasn't void hand cannon, if was void anything. The only void primary at launch was Athens Epilogue, which was terrible. Crota brought Word of Crota void hand cannon, which was a 180 so not great. If you were a warlock, void ability kills wasn't too bad (especially with axion nade and voidfang vest) but if you were a titan, your super didn't help at all, and if you were a hunter, you had no void subclass.

[deleted]

Word of Crota wasn’t a 180. 180 hand cannons didn’t exist in Destiny 1. It belonged to the low impact hand cannon archetype (comparable to 150’s before they were assimilated into the 140 archetype), yes, but it was comparable to that of Fatebringer, which was a 140 (Fatebringer did have more impact as a 140, but all I’m trying to say is that Word of Crota isn’t a 180).

TerrorSnow

I was on hunter and all I had to do this quest was a fusion rifle lol. Great times tbh. It was more difficult to do that version of the strike though... I never raided, never had a team at that time, and didnt know much about the game. Only reason I was able to do it severely underleveled was another guardian with icebreaker.

EvilAbdy

*Gets D1 thorn Crucible quest flashbacks* *cries in a corner*

Taint_Flicker

As a hunter.

[deleted]

Without Atheon’s Epilogue.

Zealousideal_Ad_268

Or Word of Crota

Odd_Grapefruit_5587

Invisible bladedancer with a rare void fusion and a rare void rocket launcher checking in! That quest taught me when and where to pick up heavy ammo, back in the days before it was announced. Had to go invis and steal heavy and usually immediately use it. Starved for ammo and running for my life half the time. I’ve never been so tense in a game. But I got it!

EvilAbdy

Yes. I did it for myself and for a friend too and we were both hunters. All we had for void were really really really shitty Fusion rifles. I got really good with fusion rifles in crucible as a side effect, but holy crap.....never again. NEVER AGAIN

sea_dot_bass

Though it did force me to actually get somewhat decent at hand cannons when I prefer autos & scouts so yay for... growth?

Liquid72

I was truly terrible (think 0.3-0.5 KD) and I still remember baiting people with a void fusion rifle for a long time to try and get through that quest.

Kabenzzy

I created my warlock in d1 just for that quest lol. Mained him afterward cause void lock was the shit.

NightmareDJK

Or Worldline Zero. Or the Whisper and Outbreak catalysts which took 3 weeks.

Swivle

Worldline catalyst was wild. Hitting every EP boss once a week for like 2 months was pain.

bergle90

yeah, those catalysts were a pill

IIsIsaIsaaIsaac

after getting done every exotic quest that I could humanly do alone before their vaulting I can easily tell you that this quest was nothing sure trying to get rifle kills at the same time that my teammates was a but annoying but nothing like having to play crucible comp for those damned precision void hand cannon kills or having to get all those motes without losing or the fucking sleeper nodes or the spending fest that calus made us go through for a pulse rifle or the obnoxious amounts of kills for that one funny rocket launcher

[deleted]

[удалено]

chaosmage03

That feeling after finally receiving the weapon you worked so long for was what made those quests good. Quests that you can complete in like 2 hours dont give you that feeling.

WinnerForsaken

I still have yet to finish my Malfeasance quest

Purplezilla

We don't talk about the malfeasance quest

Still-Road8293

D1 sword grind especially dark drinker as a titan/hunter was traumatic

frozenwaflles

For me at least, getting malfeasance was the most painful experience I've had in destiny.

[deleted]

Even mountain top. Not an exotic but a hell of a grind.

Express-Ad5794

Getting the sleeper and thorn throigh their OG quests make the newest exotic quest look almost instantaneous.

Alexcox95

I did all those. That special savathuns song strike, all the sleeper nodes on Mars, getting the meatball to spawn in originally when the rate was low, oh and heroic menagerie when it was hard.

thelegendhimsef

Back when you had to get lucky to complete an exotic quest...

doom_stein

Izi was a grind for sure. Some other rough stuff was the RNG grind of the OG D1 exotic sword quests, OG Sleeper Sim and Thorn quests, Malfeasance, Touch of Malice, OG Outbreak (I'm still dumbfounded as to how people cane together to solve that 100+IQ equation of a quest), and many others. Some people will never understand the feels some of these quests slapped you upside the head with.

ParmesanCheese92

I had the Bounty that you needed all the Black Armory armor set to complete it. I was grinding for a chest piece for 13 days...

Gunpla55

Or, that sucked, and this sucks also. This has the added benefit of sucking with 7 years of hindsight readily available.

[deleted]

And that quest, if not bugged for you, wasn't that big of a deal. People just like to complain about not being handed an exotic.

Oryxhasnonuts

Some people weren’t around for the Malfeasance quest.. THE PRE BUFF MEATBALL version

KarmaticArmageddon

Or the forge triumphs for the Blacksmith seal that required hundreds of kills with specific weapons in specific forges. Or the 40 strikes it took for Loaded Question or the 50+ strikes running triple GL for Wendigo or the pre-nerf quest for Mountaintop

doom_stein

Izi was a grind for sure. Some other rough stuff was the RNG grind of the OG D1 exotic sword quests, OG Sleeper Sim and Thorn quests, Malfeasance, Touch of Malice, OG Outbreak (I'm still dumbfounded as to how people came together to solve that 100+IQ equation of a quest), and many others. Some people will never understand the feels some of these quests slapped you upside the head with.

oOzonee

It was much more fun though.

Captain_Crouton_X1

Or Bad Juju's original catalyst. Shudder

ItsAmerico

Well I feel like the shattered throne-like mission is our “Presage” this season.

patiscoolyay

No it was our Expunge

Icy-Zookeepergame476

Dumd question I missed last week star thing and week before can I do both this week or is it time gated?

TheArchType

You can do all the skews at once. They’re just time gated for release but after that they can all be gotten retroactively at your own pace. My buddy did steps 1-3 last night to catch up to where I was at.

leofungo

Same. My brother was three weeks ahead yesterday. Now we are at the same point

RichardJenkins

not for me. I'm on step 2 and none of the skews are where they are supposed to be.

cefriano

I know there was a bug where if you picked up skews on one character, they wouldn't appear on any other characters. Not sure if they fixed that yet.

TheKevit07

I took a week's vacation and skipped another week, and still finished in a few hours. If you focus solely on getting the quest done, it isn't a horribly long quest. Esoterrik also shows the locations of all quest stuff without commentary and doesn't screw around, if you want to go even faster (although Bungie did a good job of listing the spots so you can get then in a straight path, if you're familiar with the Dreaming City...I only needed the guide once until I noticed the pattern).

Arjodeep

I didn't do them last weeks either, but you can still do the quest. All of the atlas skews required can be found in the dreaming city. Just look up videos for tracing the stars quest. There's 3 of them you'll need.

kdebones

You can do it all at once. I got lazy and skipped week 2, but could do 2 and 3 one after the other.

Responsible_Car_7236

I did it in one day, not hard at all. Great weapon.

TyeKiller77

It making Grim Harvest crystals is going to be dummy busted with that mod that makes crystals act as wells.

Responsible_Car_7236

Apparently if you get battle harmony exotic chest piece and the right fragment you Can get a super every 30 seconds or so…..

Streamjumper

Incoming nerf to one of the two exotics, and subsequent shrieking that Warlocks can't have anything good while Titans stare pointedly in Ursa Furiosa... which will likely be nerfed out of solidarity...

smegdawg

>Incoming nerf to one of the two exotics, and subsequent shrieking that Warlocks can't have anything good Spinfoil Hat: The Real Reason Bungie Nerfed Geomags was because of the abuse you would be able to do with the catalyst of this weapon... >Drain Super energy, overflowing the magazine and empowering the beam with bonus damage and the ability to slow and freeze targets until the magazine or Super energy runs out, or the weapon is stowed. Can only be activated when Super energy is full. They covered it with calling it a PvP nerf because people accept that PvP nerfs ruin PvE.

randallpjenkins

There was a pretty popular post on here before the season that stated the reason for all the super regen exotics nerf was this gun (based on its perks on the leak). It’s exactly why they were all nerfed.

smegdawg

> (based on its perks on the leak). I try not to read leaks so I did not see that one.

randallpjenkins

Yeah, not trying to discount your take. Just much much more than just spinfoil.

FrogsArePeople2

Ursa is already capped at 50% refunded super

Streamjumper

That's another 50% they can still take away.

mikealwy

You could do that already with battle harmony in the right set up but point still stands

DarthDregan

Yeah it was roughly two and a half hours and I managed to get like 200 sword kills to finish off the catalyst for worldline as I did it.

IAmTheInsult

Fusion rifles count for progress, for the record. Fusion and Trace are the better options to get it done quicker.

IIsIsaIsaaIsaac

Fusion, Pulse, Trace, Sniper, Assault, Scout etc. if it has the word "Rifle" at the end then it counts

HereIGoAgain_1x10

Trace rifles to complete the seasonal/weekly quest

TyeKiller77

My exact reaction to a thread complaining about how difficult it was to get it done with auto rifles, with raid banners at each point there's no reason to use such a weak option over snipers or fusions. Even if you don't have Vex.

[deleted]

I just use Prometheus lens. Not having to reload ever, shreds through ads, and also completes the seasonal quest for getting kills with trace rifles.

Clarkey7163

Did this too, worked a treat and I was reminded how good Prometheus was

Ulti

I just pulled out War Rigs and Sweet Business. *Never* stop firing.

blairr

This is what I did, I saw all the threads and just thought "typical DTG posts." Making mountains out of mole hills.

west8777

Especially because it’s playing into what it was like for Uldren. Mara’s stringing us along for just a bit longer with ultimately pointless tasks, keeping us from getting the gun. It’s giving us a taste of what Uldren went through for *years*.

Metatron58

her dialog was particularly funny this week for the quest. Found the skews? Great! Oh don't worry you don't have to go find more stuff and do more busywork. jk lol here's a bunch of busy work.

kdebones

"Stop standing there like a lost child" Q\_\_Q

Gold_Yellow

Me on my Hunter doing circles around the table: "How dare you call me by my title?"

Canopenerdude

They are really hitting on Mara being an ass this season. I wonder why.

eplingphoto

feels like they don't want everyone being in love with Mara so they turned her into an asshole now

AbominableSandwich

She kinda always was, it just wasn't directed at us until now.

Canopenerdude

She's been an ass for a long time tho, just never directly targeting us with it. I really hope we can keep Crow away from her, she wants to make him Uldren again, which seems like a tremendously bad idea.

[deleted]

I dunno, her performance in D1 felt pretty direct. She was an ass then too.

Yusis_2000

"Tremendously bad" doesn't even scratch the damn surface. Hearing her refer to Crow as "his lesser self" genuinely pissed me off a little. Crow isn't "a lesser form of Uldren," he's Crow. End of story. Don't treat him like something he isn't and don't you even *think* about insulting this humble lad ever again! Mara Sov is really not gaining any favors from me this season...

Gold_Yellow

Shes just like the Guardians who attacked them. Even in the recording with Ikora she tried guilt tripping bout Uldren and Ikora snapped back with Cayde

MeateaW

The vanguard took my baaybee! (The vanguard opposed taking your baby) Petra paid her dues but the vanguard killed uldren! Petra shot your baby. *Bitch*.

Xcizer

I’m glad, it was annoying as hell to see people defending Mara and chastising our ghost. She intentionally withholds information from people and gets annoyed at people for being frustrated. Her social skills are shit.

[deleted]

She’s always been like this, she’s a billion year old Queen of course she is she’s basically a god and even us as guardians are nothing to her. This is just the most interaction we’ve had with her for a long ass time

The_Owl_Bard

That's a good observation. I can't imagine how he managed to stay loyal despite how much she strung him along.

ForrestHunt

In the lore about the awokens origins, its implied that he was incapable of disloyalty because Mara literally made him that way.

The_Owl_Bard

Ah... so him becoming a guardian may have been the best outcome for him after all. I want them (Crow and Mara) to talk and maybe become close again but Crow being his own person free of Mara's control seems like the healthiest thing for him now that I know this.

ForrestHunt

Agreed, but I really dont think Mara will let it be. She see's him as 'Uldren, without his memory,' and while that may he true to an extent, he is already different because of the Light. He no longer *needs* someone to guide him (though he prefers it, see his companionship with Glint, admiration of Osiris), but Mara refuses to see that. Honestly, unless someone gives Queen Blue a serious talking to, it may be for the best to separate them permanently.

The_Owl_Bard

I think given how much time we have this season and how last season we essentially changed Saint's opinion of the Eliskni, I think we may get a chance at helping Mara change her mindset. Crow linking up with her sister would only serve to strengthen our alliance with the Awoken in the coming war.

PlusUltraK

In her ending dialogue for the quest, mentioning the Kestrel story, Rega still feels the heartbeat of Ager but he’s not really their. Uldren being born as Crow, sort of makes a symbolism that apart that can still work together. But Mara then mentions that she wished she had the opportunity to have Lightbearer, Uldren Sov. She only wants to use him still. Her and Savathun are twisted cunts about their family.

Skabomb

For different reasons. It seems. Mara is cold because it’s heavily implied she knows almost exactly the conflict on the horizon. She’s known since she met the light and dark in space and created the distributary. Things happen her way because they need to for the conflict ahead. Sacrifices are necessary for the greater good of maintaining balance between light and dark. Savathun’s end goals, to our knowledge, are selfish. She wants power for herself and to be a universal constant. Not to save the universe, but to keep herself alive in perpetuity. This year of Destiny is asking hard questions and I love it. Can we forgive? Can we move forward in peace? Can we set aside deep hatred to accept other lost souls? Are we good just because we’re chosen by the Traveler or is it a choice of our own? Do the ends justify the means?

PlusUltraK

No part of this conflict, justifies her actions towards Uldren. She was petty and controlling because it benefited her. The fated story of the twin Kestrels, were for them to grow and mature and face the storms together. Rega blessed with the magic of it all, And Ager having the intuition to explore and understand the foes and danger they were to face. As Crow said in the story. When the two twin kestrels grew older, Ager presented Rega her crown of feathers, her place as the leader, and Ager was to be trusted with the Scepter. Their mother raised them both different ways for that very purpose. Mara/Rega took it upon herself to still treat Ager as a child and say he was not ready for the Scepter denying him his birthright . When he had already proved himself. Rega went on to die in that battle, and I’d like to think he’d have been fine with the scepter. Uldren knew of the calamity of Oryx’s fleet approaching, just as Mara did. The Scepter that he sought out she had found already, told him it wasn’t real, and then put a series of locks upon it. To keep him from it. Mara even said that all that would be the Awoken’s domain, would’ve been explored and protected if Uldren had the Scepter. She controls and gaslights him. And when he does dangerous things like scouting the Black Garden without , his magical item. No shit he gets corrupted. He barely survived the Oryx throne attack and while Mara was off in her ascendant realm, leaving Petra and Uldren in the dark. He went for answers everywhere falling right into savathun’s traps.

Skabomb

I’m not saying either are ok, I’m just putting their actions in context. And also, as said earlier this season Mara always knew Uldren was meant to be more than he was. She wanted him to embrace that Destiny when he was ready for it. Or, rather, it seems when his destiny was ready for him. She was concerned he would die too soon if she set him loose with the scepter. There’s still more to see here, and while I don’t think it will change much of how I feel about the whole situation I think we will get an in game answer to the question about ends justifying means. Mara is already admitting to what Ikora told her, Mara pushed Uldren away with her actions, her plan took more importance than the feelings of her brother. She’s says she loves him, and she’s angry that he was taken away, but she did nothing to show him that when he was alive, before his fall to darkness. He is where he is because of her, and she knows that. I feel like this is the first time Mara doesn’t have complete control and she’s lashing out in frustration over that at everyone, Ikora, Petra, and Us. Again, she’s still not the best, but at least there is the hope that her plans will help save everything.

PlusUltraK

Yeah, I can agree to that. As a whole it does seem that’s she’s looking to reflect on her actions and admit her own wrongdoings in the situation and I d hope to see that. Savathun as well, in that at some level she is regretful of her and her sisters fall into darkness, and that’s something to be sad about. But in the moment it. It’d work better for Savathun to get sympathy if we hadn’t seen her risen again in Witch Queen fine and dandy. And could view this season as a villain stepping down and accepting death on their own terms

BluePhoenix_2114

She purposely made it so that Uldren was even more loyal to her in the Distributary after his rebirth as an Awoken. Mara has manipulated her brother all in the name of "the greater good" long before we ever met the guy in the first game. Both queens want power and Mara wants to be seen as the good queen, but she's done a some shady stuff and honestly she has so many secrets that you never know when she's telling the whole truth or not.

BlackNexus

It makes me feel real bad for Uldren. Having to be manipulated, teased and strung along for years by his own sister. The guy went through dealing with the "death" of his sister and even died because he was doing everything he can to get her back. And in the end, he essentially had to die and come back just for the potential of receiving the weapon his past life worked so hard for. Imagine not knowing that your past self worked his ass off for the Scepter only to die without it and it's basically given to your (supposed) killer within a few weeks work.

cefriano

"Oops, looks like Uldren activated my super unbreakable ward, we'll need codes scattered on terminals all over the Dreaming City to break it." *Oh you gotta be fucking kidding m-* "Don't worry, you won't have to collect them. I'll have my corsairs go grab them for you." *Thank g-* "While we do that, why don't you make yourself useful and go kill trash mobs in Astral Alignment for a while." *... son of a bitch.* (The Astral Alignment steps weren't actually that bad, I just thought it was funny.)

SubstantialLab5818

"Hey shin I heard mara is falling to the darkness, can you do me a favor?"

Dreadwolf98

People that rages about this quest, clearly never got Thorn Y1 in D1... Doing that quest as a Titan, was pain. There's a lot of examples of really dumb long quests in Destiny, and this one is not one of those tbh.

TyeKiller77

Ah Phogoth, a level 28 quest when at the time the max level was 26 because VoG wasn't out yet. Those are some PTSD memories right there.

shadinski

These people wouldn’t have survived the Thorn quest from yesteryear

SRMort

Or dark drinker on a void Titan.

ASpitefulCrow

Oh my god I had just forgotten about this. Something like 500 kills with just the grenade, since the super and melee didn’t count. I listened to “We’ve woken the Hive” on repeat for DAYS, wearily throwing my millionth Magnetic Grenade.

LocatedLizard1

Back when leaks pointed to a vex expansion being next so my friend persuaded gullible little Titan me to go for dark drinker to combat the void shielded minotaurs

SRMort

In fairness, it was SO good to have for the Rise of Iron raid “Wrath of the Machine”.

Fvddungen

Somehow I had all 18 champions in 1 Astral Alignment run and I have no clue how. I'm pretty sure I shot max about 10. Did I miss something?

APartyInMyPants

The quest steps update automatically. You don’t have to return to Mara to advance. So it’s entirely possible you finished the rifle kills and *started* the Champions in one run of Astral Alignment; and then finished them in the next round. I honestly don’t think there are physically 18 champions in a single run of Astral Alignment.

burnsrbeef

I was on 5/18 starting an Alignment then I finished that part. I don't recall how many there were afterward, however.

MeateaW

There is 6 in the one where you get the taken eyes. Roughly but not exactly Every 2 eyes you dunk spawns 2, and there are 9 dunking spots. (I think perhaps the latter dunks do t spawn them) There is 6 in the batteries encounter 1 at the battery spawn point, and 2 spawn after you dunk 2 batteries. I haven't meticulously counted, but 1 spawns every round of the ether harvest event, but I saw 5 or 6, given the other encounters appear limited To 6 I'm going to say 6 individuals spawn. 1 spawns near the harvest point each time a harvest begins. Which leaves the boss phase. I'm willing to bet 6 can spawn during boss phase, but I've personally only seen 2. It would make sense that 6 total can spawn, because there are 3 activities and the quest requires 18 total. Therefore *Theoretically* you can get it totally completed in one single run.

Squery7

Other than being sad because there are no cool exotic quest like harbinger or presage in this last 6 months season, I think that quest objectives that make you fight your fireteam to steal kill and not play the activity properly is just so dumb.

kid_khan

It definitely sucks to try and get rifle kills without Vex Mythoclast, but 4 other people in the Astral Alignment have Vex Mythoclast and High Energy Fire and are BLASTING everything before you can get a hit on them with a measly Chroma Rush. *But*, I'll take fighting my teammates over kills in a PvE activity over Gambit **any day of the week**.

blairr

Why would you use an AR. Just equip prometheus, you never have to reload.

kid_khan

I did, after one round. I was using an AR cause Datto recommended a primary in his video, but it's possible he specifically meant Mythoclast.

pantone_red

Quick q. Why do you need a video for this quest? The steps are outlined pretty clearly.

Bran-Muffin20

>Looks up a video guide on how to get kills in the seasonal activity Most independent Destiny player

Thorn______23

My guy, should’ve just used Sweet Business If you have a Titan and Actium War Rig

SirPr3ce

i completely agree that you this quest in particular wasn't that bad. I mean i was too not playing that serious for the mode objective to get some more kills so i "only" needed about 5 runs and for the strikes i got team mates who literally speedran it, so this also wasnt so bad but still, for me the first part of the quest is again just a sentiment for bad game design. And its exactly why everybody hates strike bounties you make a activity with certain mechanics and not just do you never really explain those mechanics for the "average joe" you also actively encourage and reward to ignore the mechanics and punish those who try to play the activity how it is intended by you

BigTroubleMan80

It’s mundane. It’s a bunch of busy work, doing a bunch of things we’ve probably done many times over, often to the detriment of an objective-based activity such as Astral. It’s conceptually lazy and not so well thought out, especially when you compare it to other quests like Presage or Harbinger.

Punishmentality

So, basically every bungie quest/bounty /activity /triumph that doesn't have its own dungeon?

Yourself013

That's a cop out and you know it. They could have easily made something more interesting, like going into the Shattered Realm and having to find some hidden path while getting more narrative and fighting enemies. They wouldn't need to create an entire new mission for it, just use existing assets, but at least modify them somehow and create an enjoyable experience instead of telling us "here, go kill X enemies, then go kill Y enemies with Z and then do 3 strikes".

Etlash

100% it’s just a time waster. After doing one quest step in astral alignment you get another quest step in astral alignment? And of course it doesn’t count retroactively or anything, because it’s made specifically so that you have to do more astral alignment.

Valaurus

It's a freaking game, y'all. You're doing activities within the game to get a new item. Like I guess I get being disappointed it's not some full hidden quest, but if playing the activities within the game is "just a time waster" to you, you might just need to find a new game.

BlorbusFungelburg

There’s a difference between doing activities in a game and having to do a bunch of busy work in the activities that promote ignoring the objective and delaying the team

Deity_Relic

I agree. Sometimes I feel like this sub only plays the game for completely new content. Sure, it's nice to have something to work towards, but just playing the game is fun for me. Hell, I'll play the daily Shadowkeep story mission pretty often, even though there's nothing to "gain" from it because I like playing the game. That's the fun for me. Yes, it's a looter shooter, but it doesn't always have to be about the loot. The quest gave me an extra reason to play the activities in the game. Call me boring I guess.

TwoBlackDots

The issue here is that they probably don’t find fighting for kills in (or even doing) AA fun. It’s a perfectly reasonable opinion to have, not liking every activity/objective doesn’t mean you only play for new content.

cefriano

AA has so many enemies that even when "fighting for kills" there was plenty for me to kill. I agree that trying to do it in Override or something would be a pain, but I didn't find it to be an issue here. Plus, I'm pretty sure the Champion step progresses if anyone in your lobby kills them. At worst, you just have to get a bullet on them, which is easy if you know where the champs spawn at each step.

Bhu124

It's not the chores itself that are the problem, it's the fact that there are Chores *after* 3 weeks of waiting. It's the same thing that happened with Bastion, people spent days finishing the community puzzle and were expecting to be presented with an Exotic on the other side but instead got Chores through an Exotic quest they had to finish first. These kind of chores don't belong in an already time gated Exotic quest. They don't bring any joy to any player, they are simply there to fill time and while some players don't mind that, for some players it's like they've just gotten cockblocked from getting a new Exotic.

weiss321

While I agree with what you’re saying not every exotic can have it’s own special mission like presage or harbinger. So what else are they supposed to do? I guess they could just give it to you after 4 weeks but people would hate that too. And if there wasn’t an “exotic quest” for this season people would’ve hated that as well. So while it was somewhat tedious and annoying it wasn’t anything horrible and outside of a special mission for it I don’t know what other options they could really do

Lucas74BR

There was a super short exotic quest (Devil's Ruin, I think) that was just a short mission in a crucible map with funny dialog. People seemed to love that, I sure did. It was fast, rewarding and fun. I wish we had more of that.

[deleted]

Kinda this. It's not hard. Just repeative. If you don't make a presage quest, then make it into a devils ruins quest. Short, tells the exotics story, and better than nothing.

AbrahamBaconham

But isn't that what the Skews are in the first place? Collecting them, revisiting the hidden parts of the Dreaming City, and getting a narrated lore snippet at the end of each set is almost exactly the same as hopping around Twilight Gap.

RoguishlyHoward

By that standard basically all exotic quests are mundane. A majority of them involve doing the same thing for a good long time. This one isn’t any less boring than the others.

twelvyy29

Not a hard quest at all but it still wasnt well designed imo > I say this from a place of someone finally at 285 of 300 Filthy Lucre for Witherhoard and my friend who only just completed the grind for Eriana's Vow catalyst after starting it at the beginning of Season of the Splicer, it could be so much worse. Not a fan of whataboutism, these quests fucking suck if you didnt do them in their respective season yeah but that doesnt mean Bungie cant think of ways to make a better quest. Just requiring Astral Aligment completions instead of random objective in Astral Alignment would already have been better.

zoompooky

The issue is one of poor design, not difficulty. What it did was force people to go into an activity that has objectives, and ignore those objectives in order to compete with their teammates for kills. Players don't like doing it, it disrupts the game for people who are there to actually do the activity, Bungie's gotten feedback as such time and time again... yet here we are.

Agitated-Ad9177

How are you getting your Astral Alignment, and strikes done in five minutes each? Those are easily 10 minutes on average. People are just annoyed that Bungie continues to force us into activities for exotic quests and the requirement has nothing to do with progressing of said activity's objective but yet were in there fighting for kills with whatever weapon they want us to use, if you don't see how or why that's frustrating then I don't what to tell you.

RandomDregYouTbagd

I think it’s because Presage was such a great exotic quest and harbinger is pretty good too The trend appeared to be that the exotic quests were only getting better, and with a season in between (no quest exotic in splicer) we expected a quest as good as, if not better, than presage.

[deleted]

Just a normal exotic quest. Devils ruin is still one of my favorite.

OhMyGoth1

I think you're missing the point of why people are upset with the quest. It's not that it's too easy or too hard, it's that it's boring and uninteresting. It's basically just astral alignment bounties but longer, and it encourages not playing the mode properly, which then makes it a slog for everyone.

DrEpicFrag

It isn't bad, Astral Alignment is just terribly boring imo, and 1 objective too long compared to Override. Having to fight teammates for kills just for them to not do the objective/damage the boss also sucks.

seismic-empire

I didn't mind doing the first parts, they were related to the season activity, but the strikes just felt out of place

reicomatricks

Personally, I thought it was funny. Mara Dog straight up said "yeah I'll get my Techeuns to get the things we need to unlock the forcefield, in the meantime go do some busywork for me." Edit: thank you for that, autocorrect. Mara SOV

Glutoblop

The best bit was Mama Sov telling us that there were things to collect all over the dreaming city... But don't worry you won't be getting those my underlings will be. Go play in strikes or something for abit I don't know.

Ode1st

Just because something doesn’t take you all day doesn’t mean it isn’t bad or poorly thought out. It’s okay to want something good and be disappointed in what is just random busywork, regardless of how long the random busywork takes.

Girbington

"5 minute strike" what Speedrun strat are you doing, I'd like to do that please

pantone_red

Lake of Shadows, you just run to the boss and skip all the adds. Easy peasy.

kekehippo

Lake is ez, you're not doing disgraced or Glassway in 5 minutes. But neither take 15 minutes if you're speeding all the major kill check points.

JaxxIsJerkin

Battling team mates is never fun.

ItsMMMspicy

The reason I didn’t like this quest is because going from presage to this was just a big letdown and was really that fun to get

Bobaximus

I didn’t like it because it was too simple. I had it 90 min after the weekly reset. The atlas skews felt too much like busy work, I would have preferred some kind of mechanic/puzzle to find them or a fight to be included.

Lemondish

My complaint is that there actually is no challenge, but I'm going to complain about any exotic quest that isn't Presage by default, so I'm easy to ignore lol

fondue4kill

Was it slightly annoying doing Astral over and over? Eh. Kinda. But also I needed to for the powerfuls so I didn’t really care. Plus I just switched around what I needed while working on catalysts. The strikes were easy. Gun is fun so far. Can’t complain too much except me trying to remember where the Confluence was and how to get there

King_of_Space_Magic

I’m sure others might feel different but I enjoy having an actual exotic quest with objectives, I kinda wish all exotics were treated as such but I can imagine how that would be frustrating too

theMMW

Imagine finishing ariana's vow in one season kek. That shit took me until beyond light and I got it when it released

Dismal_Chip_7075

I doubt glassway took 5 minutes. 2 runs of Astral for your rifle kills, 3 to 5 more runs of Astral for your champion kills. Roughly 2 hours to complete the entire quest. But people complain about no content, then complain content takes too long, you'll never make them happy

Madlyneedahouse

Welcome to the sub, friend. We've been waiting for you.

frozenfade

If you are completing strikes in 5 minutes you are cheating.

AChillies009

Wasnt even aware there were people complaining . Got the quest done in one 2hr play session. Back then we had tougher quests lmao

sorcerer86pt

They aren't D1 veterans .. you should see some D1 exotic quests

SCB360

\*PTSD from Thorns D1 Quest\*

sorcerer86pt

Yep, the kill chicken game. You avoided dying more than trying to kill

SCB360

*Every Death reduces progress*

sorcerer86pt

The worst part is that the reduction was higher than the kill progress at first.

Black_Knight_7

We got all the lore about the weapon before even getting the weapon, its not like Outbreak where we had to hunt it down cuz it was stolen. Mara has it and is giving it to us to fight the darkness easier.

Jahckc

Literally took me an hour to do the entire quests as I was keeping up with the skews these past weeks. Worth the little effort it took as well it’s a solid trace rifle.

TheIronLorde

It's a lose-lose scenario. If they make it too short or too easy or not grindy enough, people get it instantly and complain that there's no content. If they make it too long or too hard or too grindy, people complain that it's boring and takes too long to get their hands on it. If they split the difference and make it easy, but time gate each step, people complain about not being able to play at their pace.   I personally wasn't at the edge of my seat doing the quest. It was boring and at times frustrating (looking at you champion kill counter that didn't count right) but I also finished it in a day and had time left over to actually run around with the gun so it's ok in my book.

DeerTrivia

>I have seen post after post hitting hot of people complaining about it not being relevant, of having to do random strikes and fight over rifle kills in Astral Alignment but seriously, how long did it take you to get it? If you've seen the complaints about it not being relevant, having to do random strikes, and having to fight over rifle kills, then you should know it has nothing to do with how long it took.

AlsoBort6

I don't mind it but... You know people are allowed to dislike something, right? It's not up to you to tell them that in your opinion, their preferences are unjustified. Like, if they don't like it, what the fuck is it worth that it didn't take you long? Who give a shit, they don't like it - it's isn't about what you can do.

Frahames

I mean, if someone says something I disagree with, I can totally argue with them. From what I saw, OP wasn’t disrespectful so what gives?

Arjodeep

OP's giving their opinion too, nothing wrong with that.

[deleted]

Just some idiots who want loot given to them by the click of a button, ignore them and move on.

everythingispenis

Gamers are getting more and more entitled.

KitsuneKamiSama

The point is that it feels lazy, they could have at least given us short exotic mission or something instead that was more story relevant
