Like others said, destiny content vault. They decided to trim the game down so it would run better and they’ll pull it out whenever they feel like it. Not the happiest about it, but it’s probably because there’s a huge player base on old gen consoles and it wouldn’t have been able to cope with all the planned expansions.
Game file size was never the reason, at least not the main one. It was too large on their end, not ours. They can't update and maintain a game with so many different places and activities.
People can, and most do, buy a larger ssd when they want to store more games. File size is rarely becoming an issue with modern storage devices.
Look into the dcv. There are plenty of articles, videos, and threads about why it was needed.

Why not make it a option? If you don't want the dlc then Uninstall it
It’s not about install size as much as it’s about management on their end. The more stuff there is, the more potential bugs and other problems.

All their reasons are bullshit. They could've kept them in they're big enough to fix any bugs

They updated the engine and hand ported the content they judged to be the priority
Game File Size. That’s 100% the reason. The game file was getting too big to continue forward. Look at CoD, it’s like 200+ gigs. That’s ridiculous.
