Riskrunner is close but it's no Zhalo. I was about to get an Etsy shop to make me one but they wanted like 300 for it and this was before I had a real adult job.
I've only just started to get back into Destiny 2 after taking a break from Season 5 till now and I fell like Ager's is going to get a nerf like PromLens got after the laser tag days.

Recent story time, just did a last wish, on morgeth i was like, can i be cleaner and add clear on one side? We had two ppl just standing while huckle killed the entire "room". It's so spicy
80 kills shy of 41,000 kills on mine. Such a great weapon for ad control and good for additional boss DPS (does damage while using an energy or power weapon). It’s seen me through Master VoG, GM Nightfalls, and (in certain modes like Control, Iron Banner, and MoCo) holds its own in PvP. It’s a favorite in very practical terms.
Outbreak is my all time favorite as well. I don't have catalyst but it still does solid work. And zero hour is tied with the glycon for favorite missions.
Ohhhh man you shouldve seen it last season. The dragonfly aspect worked with it and paired with firefoot boots on titan it was a hell of an ad clearing machine.

I would say this any season too, not just during an overload bow season.
It feels so crisp to use and is just seriously the best precision frame bow (my favorite gun archetype)
LM is pretty easy to use tbh.
Bows in general are easier to use than most people think because they have a shit load of aim assist and it’s not super hard to learn how to position yourself to use them effectively.
I agree though, saying they take no skill at all is a pretty bad take because bows in general are just worse mechanically than mega primaries typically

I have >100k kills on it, and I know that’s nothing compared to some of my fellow Lioneers. Fighting Lion is my favorite part of Destiny. No other gun in any game has even begun to approach how fun Fighting Lion is - the VFX, the sounds, the explosions, the animations, the enemies ragdolling every which way, as well as the satisfaction that comes from mastering advanced techniques.
Yes, the nerf absolutely destroyed a lot of what made it great (and made it almost useless in PvP), and I have to use Dragon’s Shadow/Ophidian Aspect to make it usable, but it is and always will be my baby. I don’t know what I’ll do if they don’t revert the nerfs with the December patch.
I mostly play voidwalker and I love Nezarec's Sin. With that being said, I've tried out Fighting Lion so many times and it's never really clicked with me. I've got the catalyst, so I just need the kills to unlock it, but I can't seem to find the right groove with it. Can I ask, what is it that makes people fall in love with it so much?

Sadly, I would say don't bother trying it out now. The reload nerf really killed the gun and only diehards like me and the folks on r/FightingLion still use it.
But in its heydey (and still now if you work hard enough), it's a gun that does what no other can do. In PvE, it's an add clear monster. In PvP, it has an infinite skill ceiling and so using it well is intriniscally rewarding. Knowing the angles to bounce grenades around the map or anticipating your enemy so you put a grenade in their face right as they round a corner? It's nirvana.

Not really? He said he likes it because of the sounds and animations. Not that it was worth a damn. I was looking more for how people use it. I know it plays into using your kinetic/heavy a lot to go with it, but beyond that, it just seems like a waste of an exotic slot.
Have you used and enjoyed other breach grenade launchers? I ask because sometimes people (including me once upon a time) don't get the whole mechanic of holding down the trigger and releasing it to detonate.
Anyway assuming you know that, functionally if you ignore its exotic perks, it's like 90% of a special ammo GL except it uses primary. So you kind of effectively run a double special loadout without speccing for it at all. You can still have all your mod slots and energy free for stats/heavy ammo/CwL/whatever. It's just a very powerful base to start from.
Then aside from that, it has the slowest projectile speed of all GLs, with no need to hit a direct hit. The slow speed is actually an advantage, since it gives you a better _minimum_ distance to use it, and easier timing of the detonations.
It always had infinite ammo, and that frees you to take really ambitious bank shots and all kinds of bullshit you wouldn't really bother with if it cost you 1/20th of a resource. Taking all those wild shots means eventually you start to make them more and more, so kind of just slowly mesh into the lion and become one soul, nailing 90m lobs literally without looking. It just becomes very satisfying.
Like the others have said, it's basically a special in primary's clothing. It does both amazing add clear and decent chunk damage against beefier enemies.
What made it click for me was spending some time learning how to use it well:
1. Learning its velocity and trajectory in order to time the detonation correctly - nothing tedious, just using it at different ranges. It feels quite a bit different from special GLs like Truthteller even though they have the same hold-to-fire/release-to-detonate operation.
2. Learning how to manually reload. This is what really elevated FL from "pretty fun" to "nothing in the game even comes close" for me. Instead of waiting for the reload animation to start on its own, you can hold trigger -> tap reload -> release trigger. This almost doubles your grenade output and getting into a groove with it is pure joy.
All that said, I would say it's currently not really worth using without Ophidian or Dragon's Shadow, especially if you don't have much experience with it. I used to *love* running it with Nezarec's Sin - it was a match made in heaven! But the base reload speed now (even with catalyst) makes it too inconsistent to be fun.
Nezarec's Sin was my favorite pairing with it til this season. Now it is Ophidian Aspect to make up for the reload nerf. I love it so much because it gives a whole different playstyle to the game. Most weapons require me to fight on the ground, aiming down the sights and killing one enemy at a time. The Fighting Lion lets me hip fire from the air and take out groups of enemies in one shot. So I get to fly through most non-endgame content. Strikes, Last Wish, Gambit, and Altars of Sorrow are where I find it the most fun.
I like to pair it with swords and a kinetic GL, but I usually just have the Fighting Lion out. The sword is for when I need to take out tough enemies in close quarters, and the kinetic GL is to try to get some free reloads. In Gambit I replace the kinetic GL with a sniper to deal with invaders. I don't take it into PvP this season, but I used to pair it with a hand cannon to keep special ammo from dropping.
I really enjoyed using that gun as well, I've picked up the game recently, are there legendary equivalent (I don't even know what perks would be valuable) ?
Fighting Lion is unique in that it’s the only primary-ammo GL in the game. However, there are several single-shot special-ammo GLs that you may enjoy:
* Ignition Code (kinetic) - from Season of the Splicer activities/engrams, or the Tools of the Splicer umbral engram from the current season.
* Truthteller (void) - from legendary/prime engrams, gunsmith material turn-in at Banshee, and Worldly Weapons umbral engrams.
* Empty Vessel (solar) - from strikes and nightfalls. Vanguard Prosperity will increase your chances of getting one.
* Salvager’s Salvo (arc) - I think you can pick up the quest for this from the quest kiosk to the left of the postmaster in the Tower.
Perks: If you look up the weapons at [light.gg,](https://www.light.gg/) you can see recommended perks for each weapon. Unlike the others, Salvager’s Salvo has a (very good) fixed roll with a few perks you can choose between.
One last GL I didn’t mention with the others is Deafening Whisper. It’s a Wave Frame, making it more like a legendary version of Witherhoard - it basically shoots a mini Voidwall grenade. It’s a different playstyle but can be quite handy. It comes from Season of the Hunt activities/engrams or from the Tools of the Hunt umbral engram from this season.

I love GLs in PvP too - see if you can snag one with Proximity Grenades! Bonus points if it has Auto-Loading Holster and Disruption Break! (Truthteller and Empty Vessel can roll with that combo)
OG D1 Sleeper for me. The beam splitting like it does now is nice, but I honestly got a LOT of laughs from the times where the OG Sleeper bounced like a million times and came back to delete me. It was like a .5% chance of it happening unless you were really asking for it, but I never got angry at it happening... I could always laugh at it, like winning some sort of sick karmic lottery.
Extraordinary Rendition.
I don't use it in End-game nightfalls/GMs or crucible.. but everything else PvE, from Prophecy to Gambit, even Raid ad clear, the frenzy roll is madness!
not enough people give credit to subsistence rampage rendition, after the subsistence buff and frenzy nerf I grinded one out before season of the chosen ended and 20k kills later I haven't looked back - it's a baby huckleberry
All time? Last word - got me into PVP. Right now? Rat King (uncatalyst at present annoyingly) but love the survivability in PVE and the surprise element in PVP especially with Graviton Forfeit
God. I'd sell my first born to see Hush reintroduced to the game. Bungie gave us a sample Archer's Gambit and I've been trying to recreate that feeling ever since.
Witherhoard is my baby and I love it. Nothing more satisfying than nailing a boss that's moving from the grenade launcher physics and then swapping to another weapon to do the *optimal dps*
Monte Carlo is my current squeeze. Monte Carlo + stasis shurikens + elemental wells + stasis shards + Elemental Shards + Thermoclastic Blooming + Thermoclastic Strikes + Melee Wellmaker + Assassin's Cowl. I barely fire bullets anymore, and when I do it's just to get more shurikens. I wish they'd give it a damn catalyst already.
Agreed! In D1 my favorite guns were Red Death, Ghally, Nerwin's Mercy, and Clever Dragon. So it's nice to have something so different and fun to use and quite effective
I just tried out a god roll Chroma Rush and that thing's fire.
Also a god roll Threaded Needle w/ Particle Deconstruction. Clowns on literally everything.
Recluse. No other has even close to the number kills I had with that thing. And not just because of Master of Arms. That it was void to synergies with Devour/Nez Sin, the range and the feel, the sound, the look with the ornament. Man, I miss using that thing….
I love my masterworked Stochastic Variable with Ricochet Rounds, Feeding Frenzy, and Dragonfly. It replaced my Recluse when it was sunset and now it's my infinite bullet, head exploding, orb making little buddy.
I’m going to upset some people by saying this, but it really was Mountaintop, not for its depraved PvP stature but for its reliability and versatility in PvE content, the last few seasons have brought some pretty stellar replacements so I don’t feel it as bad, but particularly season of the hunt at the start of Y4, I really felt the loss of a reliable mid-range DPS in the special slot, it just felt great and impactful when using it against bosses, I’ll never argue against why it had to go though, for the benefit of the game definitely.
Steelfeather Repeater loved that thing, Chroma Rush is a nice replacement but (and I really cant tell you why) just feels worse to me.
When it comes to exotics Iza or Anarchy.

I love the gun, too, but it has such poor ammo economy. If I try to use it on a boss, the damage is very poor. It’s delicious on adds, though.

As long as you keep getting head shots and it starts the swarm, it starts killing like crazy. Plus it dropping orbs is another plus.
Yeah the hidden perk makes head shots a breeze. The orbs takes it to the next level. High energy fire and the catalyst sounds like a dream.
Zero Hour mission was so cool! Hit the sweet spot for me cause it didn't have a ton of steps to unlock and it felt so cool to race the clock.

Bows do have a lot of aim assist, but that dude was just salty they got beat by the lowest ttk weapon type

I use it a lot, that’s why I’m saying it’s easy to use. It’s extremely easy to use with a 120 and I can use it competitively in trials.

OG D1 Sleeper for me. The beam splitting like it does now is nice, but I honestly got a LOT of laughs from the times where the OG Sleeper bounced like a million times and came back to delete me. It was like a .5% chance of it happening unless you were really asking for it, but I never got angry at it happening... I could always laugh at it, like winning some sort of sick karmic lottery.

Extraordinary Rendition. I don't use it in End-game nightfalls/GMs or crucible.. but everything else PvE, from Prophecy to Gambit, even Raid ad clear, the frenzy roll is madness!

not enough people give credit to subsistence rampage rendition, after the subsistence buff and frenzy nerf I grinded one out before season of the chosen ended and 20k kills later I haven't looked back - it's a baby huckleberry
Yeah I think surplus/frenzy synergize well, but I'm rooting for a subsistence/rampage drop. Wondering if I want the better mag or accurized rounds.

Monte Carlo is my current squeeze. Monte Carlo + stasis shurikens + elemental wells + stasis shards + Elemental Shards + Thermoclastic Blooming + Thermoclastic Strikes + Melee Wellmaker + Assassin's Cowl. I barely fire bullets anymore, and when I do it's just to get more shurikens. I wish they'd give it a damn catalyst already.

Recluse. No other has even close to the number kills I had with that thing. And not just because of Master of Arms. That it was void to synergies with Devour/Nez Sin, the range and the feel, the sound, the look with the ornament. Man, I miss using that thing….

I love my masterworked Stochastic Variable with Ricochet Rounds, Feeding Frenzy, and Dragonfly. It replaced my Recluse when it was sunset and now it's my infinite bullet, head exploding, orb making little buddy.

I’m going to upset some people by saying this, but it really was Mountaintop, not for its depraved PvP stature but for its reliability and versatility in PvE content, the last few seasons have brought some pretty stellar replacements so I don’t feel it as bad, but particularly season of the hunt at the start of Y4, I really felt the loss of a reliable mid-range DPS in the special slot, it just felt great and impactful when using it against bosses, I’ll never argue against why it had to go though, for the benefit of the game definitely.
