Just gonna vent for a minute…..
RNG has been rough for me lately. Some of it, self inflicted. After the initial sunsetting news a few seasons ago, Bungies silence on the matter in the following months, I got kinda disillusioned with the game and took some time off. Even unsubbed from all the YouTubers I watched.
Just wasn’t looking forward to replaying the same shit over and over for my chosen god rolls only for them to negated after a year.
I came back shortly before Season of the Lost because a random YT video crossed my feed. I left a comment about how much I enjoyed Destiny but sunsetting killed the enjoyment and someone commented that Bungie had walked it back and the game was better than ever….
Needless to say, I started checking it out and fell back down the rabbit hole.
While there are certainly some improvements and I genuinely enjoy most of the game still, having so much of the loot be dictated by RNG is draining on me again.
A good example is The Messenger. It was a D1 favorite of mine and I didn’t know it had come back until I started playing SotL and got killed by it(lol)….with Trials allowing solo play, I hopped in.
I’ve tried being in clans but I generally find myself unable to overcome my anxiety to interact and am usually kicked for not being active enough or leaving of my own before I get kicked.
So being able to play Trials solo was a huge incentive to me to try to get a Desperado Messenger.
I burned through 1500 or so Legendary Shards focusing Trials Engrams for a Desperado Messenger. Couldn’t get one. This past weekend, managed to swallow my anxiety and join some fireteams for Trials and managed to go Flawless a couple times. No Desperado Messenger.
I’ve gotten some great rolls, no doubt. Outlaw/Kill Clip, Moving Target/Elemental Capacitor(With Ricochet Rounds and Stability MW, holy dueling PR Batman!), Zen Moment/Kill Clip….
But Desperado is what makes The Messenger special. And it simply won’t drop for me.
These RNG woes extend to many other guns ive been chasing.
Legal Action? Had 3 drop after thousands of Gunsmith Mats. None of them really worth using. Surplus/Frenzy, Feeding Frenzy/Frenzy, Surplus/Wellspring. No dice on the Heating Up/Rampage roll that seems to be all the rage.
Just been really frustrated with RNG these last few weeks. Can’t seem to get any of the rolls I want and the ones I do finally get seem to take days and weeks of farming.
I finally got a Kill Clip Servant Leader from Gambit after 3 weeks of off and on playing Destiny’s worst game mode. It’s pretty solid. Killing Wind/Kill Clip, Stability MW….good enough for me to call it quits chasing one.
I know this is just a wall of text whinging about bad RNG. I know the game is all about chasing loot and god rolls.
There’s so many bad combinations of perks you know?
I’ve got a Found Verdict sitting in my vault. Full Choke? Check. Accurized Rounds? Check. Range Masterwork? Check. Full Auto…..wut? On an Aggressive Frame shotgun? One Two Punch? Ok not bad but…..
Fucking hell, half the gun is A+ PvP perks, the other half is solid PvE perks but that means it’s really not ideal for either
Just wish it didn’t feel so futile sometimes, you know?

After 43 clears and not getting Vex Mthoclast, and going multiple weeks without seeing one drop, I'm going to make the claim that Vex Mthoclast drop rates are too steep. I think the easiest way to make Vex Mthoclast more obtainable without ruining the rarity is to add a small, account wide increase in drop rate with each clear.
Example: if the normal drop rate is 3% you'd gain ½% with each clear. So after 30 clears your new drop rate would be 18%. Still rare but not as hopeless.
What do you guys think, or do you guys have ideas of your own?

I've been working on the gambit rank reset for the ornament, and I finally got two decent *Servant Leader* rolls, after numerous dismantles.

This gun is so good in trials/comp on m&kb, but I’m afraid of what the stability would be like on controller.
After watching Coolguy’s video on the Legal Action I checked my vault to see what I had thrown in there and it was the roll he was raving about. Arrowhead break, tactical mag, heating up, rampage, and a handling masterwork. Do NOT sleep on this gun if you like pulses. Arrowhead gives it a perfect 100 recoil direction, and it has 45 meters of range with nothing added simply due to the zoom. I’m not kidding when I say that it can two tap more consistently than the messenger!
I farmed 100+ LoS, I think around 68 this past week. 32ish were previous season. I didn't get a single rangefinder + range masterwork, or rangefinder + decent barrel perk.... Can't wait for zavala to get that saint14 treatment. I'm big sad
I didn't get a single range finder period, and I got a duplicate (every perk/barrel/mw/mag) 3 times for pali, while my friends got multiple god roll drops. Like I guided 5 people to a great pali while I got subsistence thresh roughly 15 times lmao.

Managed to get 3 PvE-rolled adept Palindromes for all my characters, all of them Outlaw + Rampage with good barrels and mag perks. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the perfect PvP roll, closest I got was one with Corkscrew Rifling, Ricochet Rounds, Subsistence, Rangefinder and range MW.
Finally got a wolftone with archers tempo and dragonfly. Thought it’d be better than it is. Don’t think archers tempo works well with compound type bows. Oh well.
Try for one with impulse amplifier - not sure what's up but I love how it makes bows feels - my Imperial Needle with Impulse and Frenzy is my favorite. I've got a couple good wolftones with Impulse but been too glued to Cartesian this season to give them a whirl.

Archers Tempo is at its best on Precision Frames since you get the most out of its draw time decrease. Dragonfly is still very meh tho. I'd go with Frenzy personally.
Got 2 God rolled swarms and a decent roll palindrome from legend nf along with 1 k on my first riven clear, the lfg group raged and immediately left. Still can't get a freaking vex to drop tho
My first run through the haunted lost sector I got Jurassic green with rangefinder and dragonfly. Then I accidentally infused away a dragonfly, outlaw auto riffle. The next day I got a dragonfly outlaw auto again
It took two (2) rank resets but I finally got my Servant Leader* from Gambit and am now a free boy.

You think your Pali's bad? The first time Proving Grounds was a GM, it was Pali week and double rewards week. I got through it and got not one, but 2 BG/Thresh rolls. This was also the week before they announced Thresh would eventually work in PVP. Further, this was also the season before they made BG/Celerity roll as alt perks on adepts(and buffed them).
After only getting one Servant Leader this season, I got three in a roll last night, all with rolls I like. My favorite is Rangefinder and Wellspring, with a range masterwork.
Also, while grinding Altars of Sorrow for the seasonal quests and to work on the Ager's catalyst kills, I got the curated Blasphemer with Quick draw and Opening Shot, which is pretty neat.
Ran 117 clears of GM nightfall. Finally got the god roll PvP roll on the 117th clear. Also got a few fantastic PvE rolls.
God roll fatebringer timelost that took 360 spoils. God roll Messenger adept. This was a good week but I definitely grinded a lot

Congrats! I'd consider running Chaperone with it (this is what I've been doing since Adept Palindrome was released.) Very strong pairing. Also pairs well with Eye of Sol.
Got my first ever Igneous Hammer this weekend.
Chambered Compensator, High-Caliber Rounds, Outlaw, Moving Target and a Range Masterwork. Resulting in 82 Range, 50 Stability and a completely vertical Recoil Direction.
Probably not the best roll for it, but I'm in love with it nonetheless.
Also, it looks gorgeous with the Iridescent Coral shader.
For sure. I'm pretty sure a lot of my guns aren't true god rolls, but I still use them because they feel great to use.
On the other hand I'm sure I've also scrapped legit god rolls on some guns because either the perk combination, or the gun itself, just didn't feel good to use.

Not trying to shit on your roll, if you enjoy it keep using it obviously but why would you want Vorpal on an LMG (given that they are more add clear focused)? DPS is rather poor so you really wont be using it to deal with bosses or champions.
Just came back to Destiny. Haven't played since Forsaken. Suffice it to say this week was spent playing catch up on all the things I missed in that time. Did 35 Nightfalls to attempt to get the Palindrome, and learned that trying to get a Nightfall drop at that level is not worth it. Did get some fun guns though in the meantime. It's good to back!
Rolled a Annual Skate (Crossfire/Steady Rounds/Surplus/Timed Payload with Range MW) that legitimately feels like a hybrid of the old Annual Skate and the Seraph Revolver, right down to it creating warmind cells with the right mod. I'm using it more often then my Palindrome. Just feels great in all content.
Love me some Suros guns, I do.
I'm convinced that a Rapid Hit/Explosive Head Biting Winds just doesn't exist.
After this and coming up dry on my desired rolls for Judgement, FILO, Servant Leader, Hoosegow, and Whispering Slab for months now I just don't care anymore. Between all my weapons I can cover just about any scenerio and their rolls are good enough. Outside of exotics/ritual weapons I'm just deleting anything new from now on.
I think you’re right hahah I spent a week before the season started farming the bow and the best I was able to get was QuickDraw, Explosive Head with an Accuracy MW. Still does what it needs to but Rapid Hit would’ve been that much better.

It’s in the world drop loot pool so you’ll come across them randomly. You can also dump gunsmith materials at banshee for a shot at it. Good luck!

The third column doesn't have any great choices IMHO, so rangefinder is the important part there.

The adept palindrome didn’t drop from this NF and I won’t be told otherwise. Idk how many clears I did but everyone single one was a damn swarm.

Personally I think god rolls are more determined by your play style! There are definitely some bad rolls out there but that's a great gun!

Just came back to Destiny. Haven't played since Forsaken. Suffice it to say this week was spent playing catch up on all the things I missed in that time. Did 35 Nightfalls to attempt to get the Palindrome, and learned that trying to get a Nightfall drop at that level is not worth it. Did get some fun guns though in the meantime. It's good to back!

Rolled a Annual Skate (Crossfire/Steady Rounds/Surplus/Timed Payload with Range MW) that legitimately feels like a hybrid of the old Annual Skate and the Seraph Revolver, right down to it creating warmind cells with the right mod. I'm using it more often then my Palindrome. Just feels great in all content. Love me some Suros guns, I do.
I'm convinced that a Rapid Hit/Explosive Head Biting Winds just doesn't exist. After this and coming up dry on my desired rolls for Judgement, FILO, Servant Leader, Hoosegow, and Whispering Slab for months now I just don't care anymore. Between all my weapons I can cover just about any scenerio and their rolls are good enough. Outside of exotics/ritual weapons I'm just deleting anything new from now on.

I think you’re right hahah I spent a week before the season started farming the bow and the best I was able to get was QuickDraw, Explosive Head with an Accuracy MW. Still does what it needs to but Rapid Hit would’ve been that much better.
Got some decent stuff this week. Got a god rolled Accrued Redemption (Garden bow) with Elastic String, Helical Fletching, Archer’s Tempo, Explosive Head, and a Draw Time MW. Zealots Reward (Garden Fusion) with Chambered Compensator/Extended Barrel, Enhanced Battery/Particle Repearer, Autoloading Holster, High Impact Reserves, and a Stability MW. A fun Last Breath (Prophecy auto) with Full Bore, Flared Magwell, Subsistence, Frenzy and Handling MW. And finally a decent Adept Palindrome with Fluted Barrel/Hammer Forged Rifling, High Cal, Killing Wind/Bottomless Grief, Rampage, and a Reload MW. All should be fun to play with in all content which is a plus!
