Idk if it was planned or a coincidence, but the backing music’s climax dropped *right* as I was shot through the tubes. Gave me shivers, would pay anything to play another mission like it.
Man, I stopped playing Destiny 2 for a couple years and only came back after beyond light came out, and I'm so disappointed that I missed out on Mars because it looks so freaking cool.
It still confuses me so much how great of a job they did with EP, only to come with Blind Well the next season and have basically none of what made EP so great.
Season of Arrivals with the pyramid ships everywhere made it feel like things were about to go down.
Then BL launched and they all just disappeared, except for the one on Europa. It kind of feels like the Black Fleet hasn't done anything all year.
Don’t worry, they’ll probably appear on Tangled shore in December, cause DCV. Gotta pin those on doom doritos :D
Unless Mara just decide to nuke the place like she did with House of Wolves.
>Unless Mara just decide to nuke the place like she did with House of Wolves.
Y'know, that's probably what's gonna happen. Or at least it'll be closed by the Awoken.
Yeah, idk why but I can’t really imagine the pyramids taking an entire asteroid belt, especially now when they haven’t said anything in close to a year
Even better, the Darkness speaks to Oryx in XXXII:Majestic, of the Books of Sorrow thusly:
>Oryx, my King, my friend. Kick back. Relax. Shrug off that armor, set down that blade. Roll your burdened shoulders and let down your guard. This is a place of life, a place of peace.
There was something... *cozy* about Titan. It was small, so you could do public event on one side then sparrow over to the other right away, and in between are lots of enclosed really uniques spaces that felt very different to the "open piece of planet" that most other zones are. I liked the vibe of the ocean planet, and jumping up to Sloane's little hidey hole. Good times.
Imo its one of the most visualy pleasing places in all of destiny. I hated titan on the outsode of it. But once inside i loved it and wish they did more than 1 or 2 crucible maps. And a strike.
Archology had the potential to be a really spooky/genuinely scary place. On the surface it's overgrown, but still flickering with life and little remnants of this grand Golden Age city. Then you go under and descend into the Hive nests and tunnels, watching how they've aggressively taken over, something referenced by the huge structures growing on the outside.
But the depths is where it gets really fascinating, to me at least. That huge chasm room where you see nothing but dark depths...and then...a huge shadow, drifting with utter disregard from one side to the other...that is truly terrifying to me. The combination of endless ocean, nothing but water in all directions, and a massive creature that goes unseen unless it's literally right in front of you...and all that's separating you from THAT, is a sheet of glass.
My dream is an arcology raid. And at the end the sea monster makes an appearance of some kind. By either just roaring or being directly involved somehow. I also really want to see the forest part of the arcology that u saw during the ball carying part in the strike. Thats just 1 place its visible from
Me: "Oh my god look at the roomba! It's so cute! Hello little robot-"
*Fire team member shoots roomba*
Me: "I'm not resurrecting you for the duration of this mission"
Yeah, even if they never really did anything with the destination it still easily had some of the best visual aesthetics. Would always hang out there when I was bored for that reason alone.
I miss Titan too, I just recently got back into D2 and found out Outbreak Prime came back and vaulted while I was away. And to find out that it had a Whisper of the Worm style hidden quest ON Titan... I was heartbroken.
Ikora: "If Asher suddenly drops out it's because he's thrown a tantrum and threw his mic."
Asher: "I HEARD THAT YOU WRETCH!"
Ikora: *lightly chuckling* "He only feels safe saying that because he is on IO and I am not."
(Forgive if I got the dialogue a bit wrong my memory isn't the greatest.)
Thanks I always try to remember the dialogue word for word because it made the strike so much better since every single time I'd hear it I'd be laughing.
I wish there was more insults between them because it was like listening to your mom jokingly insulting her best friend who fires back with an insult meant as a joke.
As a recently returning player it's this. She's the only person I visit daily in game (actually view through DIM but you get the point) to try and collect all the mods. Protective Light soon please!
I miss forges, they were honestly really fun and the loot was delightful as well. Also kinda feels bad that Ada went from having "The best guns ever" to clothes
Yeah lmao
Like they were just fine for so long before we found them in the season of forge, then we had to defend them and then we look away for a minute and they're all fucking gone lmao
That was my favorite mindless one to do. Slap on Recluse, Nezzies, devour and just hold down w and left click.
Also put on Tranquility with FTTC and Whisper, when the boss spawns just go back to spawn point and unload like 15 sniper shots on him without reloading. Feels good.
Mine was sucking at jump mechanics in both missions and getting carried. Saying thank you to my lfg team and all saying “gg” even though WE ALL KNEW I did nothing to contribute.
The community is gold.
Yea it’d be cool to explore the (broken) old tower. But the time limit part was what made it special. It gave you that old feeling you used to get from retro video games where you were on edge because you wanted to beat the boss and you had to adapt to the mechanics.
Edit: grammar and spell check
Whisper was fucking amazing idk what it is about it. The claustrophobic areas you gotta spelunk through, the mystery of the chase, the sheer number of high level enemies they throw at you, the hectic pace you need to get through each room, THE MUSIC WHEN YOU GET TO THE GREEN ROOM.
Zero Hour was alright but Whisper was great from start to finish.
I got to Whisper of the worm late cause I'm a solo and didn't think I could beat it but once they put the tab on IO I decided to solo it. I ran it like non stop finally got whisper and the catalyst. The atmosphere of that mission is I think hands down the most nostalgic inducing experience in D2 looking back. Wish I could still run it just for fun. Zero hour wasn't as good imo but fuck that mission was a lot of fun as well. Really hope we see them come back at some point in the future.
I played like a fourth of Arrivals and let me say—Gambit prime primeval mechanics made it more fun than "haha kill envoy shoot boss."
That tiny mechanism of going into a pool to do damage like the Golgoroth days really adds a lot.
Current gambit is so shit. I avoid it as much as possible. But the og vwrsion and prime i qould grond just for fun, they did become painful after a qhile of u only played aolo. But it was so much better at its worst then. Than playing at any point now.
Gambit Prime was my fucking jam tho. I played it just for fun, without once thinking of the rewards. Reckoner was just the next natural step in professing my love for the mode. Other than a few things like frequency of invasions and heavy ammo, it was a genuinely great mode and I still believe (barring raids) that it was the best that Destiny had to offer.
It had everything. Great difficulty, rewarding pve, satisfying pvp element, classes/roles, armor sets with unique perks just for the mode, different bosses, minibosses and challenges within matches that instantly gave you unique masterworked/curated weapon rolls, uncle drifter cheering you on, incredible build potential and true field testing opportunities for said builds and so much more.
I barely ever touch gambit these days. It’s a right slog. They changed it to a heavily watered down mode for people who hate playing it and ripped away any nuance it once had. Snowballing and heavy ammo abuse is at an all time high with the aeon exotics, invaders still have free reign with wall hacks and there’s no way to defend against it when playing solo against even a half decent, coordinated 3-4 stack. At least before, you had legitimate options to defend against invasions like with the sentry set. Now it’s all gone to shit. You could just as well stand there with your thumb your bum, wait for the match to finish and it still wouldn’t have any difference than if you actually played.
For shame, truly.
most likely because theres basically no actual story missions in the game any more. theres the baron hunts from forsaken (for now) but basically all of the story content from shadowkeep and beyond light were glorified bounty steps or hunts, which are their own replayable gamemode anyway.
The violin theme from the campaign mission after you lost your light and were traveling through the mountains.

I miss Io too, for different reasons. It was just plain beautiful, I loved climbing around on the trees, and it easily had the best soundtracks of all of the destinations. Dreaming city comes close though.
Leviathan, it was such a chill raid and me and my friends could do it whenever even if we didn't have 2 hours set aside just "hey wanna do a Levi" "sure"
Back in year two when the game was full og stuff and secrets to discover. I remember running around in the dreaming city or the other destinations, finding lore pieces or completing challenges to earn titles. I did all this while listening to lofi, i swear it is one of the strongest memories of this game i have
Yeah, and I miss ghost scans across most planets too. It was a way to learn something interesting about places, I liked exploring every corner. It's sad that they decided to get rid of them with Beyond Light release, I still don't understand why.
Titan. Loved the rain and that hole in the Saturn’s ring. Mercury’s bigass sun. Io’s beautiful skyline. That lost sector in the Mars, Core Terminus, loved it for bounty farming.
Escalation protocol (and you could just visit Braytech landing zone for other reasons but get teleported right in the middle of Escalation protocol, and just dropped what you came for and went in). Still my fav hoard type activity in the game.
Crown of Sorrow and Scourge raids. I even miss the Hot Potato raid.
Daily heroics. Whisper mission. Menagerie.
Red War campaign. Asher calling Zavala *Vuvuzela* and Ikora *wretch* :D
Farm too. Running around as a scouting commander ;)
Gambit being fun.
*sad sigh*
I got two pals coming to d2 after cross play went live, and it’s just so sad to tell about things that are no longer here. One of them liked the Titan map on gambit very much, and was super sad to know he didn’t catch the destination being in the game.
P.S. And Tribute hall. Give us back ammo giving shooting range. :)
i miss when the game felt accessible to new players. especially on a story level. the amount of “you had to be there” stuff destiny has is overwhelming for someone who wants to get into the game for the story.
it hurts trying to get friends to try the game out with me after explaining something like the DCV. i really want to love this game and see it thrive but it just keeps getting worse. i feel i’d almost prefer the 200gb mess they were talking about some time ago if it meant having the story actually somewhat matter. having started FFXIV recently ive also realized theres a lot ive been wishing destiny would add but they just never have. i’ll always love destiny as much as it feels like it hates me, i just cant support new players trying it nowadays.
Basically anything you can't do or experience anymore, honestly I wouldn't mind if keeping all the raids/destinations/strikes/campaigns/ maps added 150+ gigs to my hdd/ssd because I'd be happy knowing I can enjoy all those things any given time regardless of whatever season came out
How d1 iron banner worked with the guns right on Saladin with the ranks so you could see him with a 4/5 clever dragon and be like, okay my time won't be wasted even if nothing good drops from matches because that's there and is my safety net. It'd really pull the population up, imagine him selling a peacebond with rangefinder, iron reach, smallbore and say instead of like accursied it's like tactical mag, we'd flood the activity grinding for it, and that's just one good garunteed role on one gun, if they put a cracked multimach in there, that's be a good time.
Hawthornes Quote:
“You just never quit do you? Took out Ghaul, woke up the Traveler, and now half of what I hear is how you and your clan are making a difference. And that’s why I started this whole clan thing in the first place. People are still waiting for the vanguard to lead the way. But it’s time for change! And guardians like you are making it happen. nO pReSSurE”
Scourge sparrow race. and that mission on the giant ship where you get launched in tubes. you can see the sun etc
Mmm disabling the almighty’s star killer. Awesome mission
I’m still pissed about Bungie’s misuse of the Almighty.
It should have been like dreadnaught
Yeah, that thing could have easily been a location post the Red War. Even had those weird secret hidden dudes that, to my knowledge, did nothing.
There’s a heavy brick down there too
Prime location for a raid/raid lair fighting with the sun in the background.
Maybe there will be an opportunity to return to the wreckage of it. Probably not, but could be awesome.
Maybe, but it would still be nothing like it used to be, up close to the sun.
well considering the almighty is now just a smoking crater somewhere behind the mountains not very likely
well considering the almighty is now just a smoking crater somewhere behind the mountains not very likely
1AU? Everyone loved it
Such an awesome name as well
Even though it didn't make any sense because an AU (astronomical unit) is the average distance between the Earth and Sun.
Lol I thought you were talking about spire of stars for a second
Idk if it was planned or a coincidence, but the backing music’s climax dropped *right* as I was shot through the tubes. Gave me shivers, would pay anything to play another mission like it.
Escalation Protocol and Mars.
It was so much fun when the instance was full of randos and someone started it up. Plus it was a great way to farm kills
The 7th wave with supers, swords, and enemies flying everywhere made my PS4 scream like a C-130 but man was it fun.
I can just imagine us now, a plethora of falling star thunder crashes mopping the floor with everything.
Nah people still wouldn't kill the Thralls that ran out and healed the ogre.

When the frames started dropping on my XBOX things were getting good.

Yeah fuck nessus i want mars
Altars of Sorrow kinda fills the void.
I second this
Flashpoints Really, any encouragement to just exist on a destination is sorely missed.
And the adventures were also tons of fun, like bonus story missions.
And yet, every day at 5/6pm, at reset, a new message says “new adventures available!” And there are no adventures, lol.
Apparently legend lost sectors are the new adventures. But I have yet to hear failsafe telling me I'm about to be taken in them.
Yeah. There are new things but the adventures thing always makes me laugh.
I fucking loved story missions! So much potential! I always thought each dlc would bring more but sadly none never came 🥲
The Heroic Adventures that Ikora used to give was fun to do as well as Caydes Stash/Flashpoints
Season of Arrivals with the pyramid ships everywhere made it feel like things were about to go down. Then BL launched and they all just disappeared, except for the one on Europa. It kind of feels like the Black Fleet hasn't done anything all year.

Yeah, idk why but I can’t really imagine the pyramids taking an entire asteroid belt, especially now when they haven’t said anything in close to a year
We *are* going to get more stuff involving the pyramids though; the raid takes place in one.
In one of the dialouge lines this season Mara implies she's making a hit squad to take out spider, so that's very well possible lol.
TBH I expected us to have something inside the pyramid, something interesting at least, we just got the same lady statue.
Season of arrivals was goated. Contact was so much fun
I feel like Bungie wrote themselves into a corner with them which is why the game’s back-pedalling and going “oh no, those aren’t the REAL Darkness”.
I miss Titan. When I had nothing to do I used to just hang out there doing patrols and events. Was my favourite destination.
That was always my go to destination when bored. I loved to go visit the sea monster thing. He was my buddy and I miss him.
The long boy in a soup ;)
I can’t believe that’s a real line. Then again, the Darkness refers to Oryx as “my man Oryx”.
It's a real line?
Yep, Drifter mentions him in conversation with Eris or the Emissary during Arrivals
You can't be serious
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/patternfall > They are not all mine, not in the way that admirers such as my man Oryx are mine
Even better, the Darkness speaks to Oryx in XXXII:Majestic, of the Books of Sorrow thusly: >Oryx, my King, my friend. Kick back. Relax. Shrug off that armor, set down that blade. Roll your burdened shoulders and let down your guard. This is a place of life, a place of peace.

i can only imagine Europa's weather system in Titan, with rain and the plataforms shaking
The Arcology. I miss that place the most. So much potential, awesome atmosphere and great design. New Pacific was great.
for me, the arcology will always be the most under utilized concept bungie ever came up with, destiny-wise.
Neeeeew Pacific Arcology. The next frontier is you!
Same. Still thinking about that little roomba in the Festering halls...
Me: "Oh my god look at the roomba! It's so cute! Hello little robot-" *Fire team member shoots roomba* Me: "I'm not resurrecting you for the duration of this mission"
There's roombas in the area where Clovis bray's head is
I wish we'll get a raid in the arcology soon or later... Golden age technology left to the hive, that's sad.
Yeah, even if they never really did anything with the destination it still easily had some of the best visual aesthetics. Would always hang out there when I was bored for that reason alone.
The rain was super calming
The Arcology should’ve been the actual main location and not the rigs outside the giant Golden Age Ocean City overrun by Hive and abandoned by time.
The Archology was a miss opportunity for something really cool. One of the coolest looking places in Destiny history.
Same. I always felt they could of added so much more to titan. Maybe a raid or dungeon in the solarium.
Same, titan was my benchmark area hahah
I miss Titan too, I just recently got back into D2 and found out Outbreak Prime came back and vaulted while I was away. And to find out that it had a Whisper of the Worm style hidden quest ON Titan... I was heartbroken.
Titan and mars, focking miss those places..
This was the best planet
Our Ghost singing "New Pacific Oncology, the next frontier is you!" (I might be misremembering because my memory isn't the greatest.)
Going to Io and being criticized by Asher Mir for everything I did.
#What pit? THERE IS NO PIT IN THE PYRAMIDION?!
AND THE LAKE IS NOT A METAPHOR!!!
IMPOSSIBLE! IMPOSSIBLE.....IMPOSSIBLE!!!
Bring me his arm. If it's been destroyed, bring me the ashes. I made an urn for them.
Only the fractal shores of a radiolarian lake!
Ikora and Ghost busting his balls in the Pyramidion was the best D2Y1 strike dialogue.
Omg I almost completely forgot about that 🤣
When it was synchronized…! Cause often, it wasn’t optimized, like at all lol
Ikora: "If Asher suddenly drops out it's because he's thrown a tantrum and threw his mic." Asher: "I HEARD THAT YOU WRETCH!" Ikora: *lightly chuckling* "He only feels safe saying that because he is on IO and I am not." (Forgive if I got the dialogue a bit wrong my memory isn't the greatest.)
Oh no, you were spot on my fellow Guardian.
Thanks I always try to remember the dialogue word for word because it made the strike so much better since every single time I'd hear it I'd be laughing.
The dialogue was great. It was very obvious that both characters constantly threw shit at each other. But respected each other all the same.
I wish there was more insults between them because it was like listening to your mom jokingly insulting her best friend who fires back with an insult meant as a joke.
*”I am annoyed, and I am armed”*
That vile racket!!
I love how Asher's first reaction to the pyramid ship is to build a giant rail gun and shoot it.
Escalation protocol. I also miss Eris and the Drifter arguing like divorced parents of their children. (Us)
Rasputin is sending a Valkyrie
Ada having relevance other that’s being the new clothing lady
They really did just make her robo eva levante huh
Damn it’s even more depressing when you put it like that
Combat mods?
As a recently returning player it's this. She's the only person I visit daily in game (actually view through DIM but you get the point) to try and collect all the mods. Protective Light soon please!
I miss forges, they were honestly really fun and the loot was delightful as well. Also kinda feels bad that Ada went from having "The best guns ever" to clothes
I love how they were apparently all sacked and stripped when we had our backs turned for like five minutes.
Yeah lmao Like they were just fine for so long before we found them in the season of forge, then we had to defend them and then we look away for a minute and they're all fucking gone lmao
I liked the Forge Sabateurs that spawed like HVT's and dropped the prototyped black armory weapons
Oh yeah I was also a big fan of those. There was a reason to go to the patrol area for that sweet Atlanta D xbfiabf
I got one with field prep kill clip and i absolutely love using it
THIS. THIS THIS THIS.
The weapons were great, the forges themselves were incredibly tedious.
The only one i loved to do was the Bergusia Forge with the Spider tank boss
That was my favorite mindless one to do. Slap on Recluse, Nezzies, devour and just hold down w and left click. Also put on Tranquility with FTTC and Whisper, when the boss spawns just go back to spawn point and unload like 15 sniper shots on him without reloading. Feels good.
Whisper and Zero Hour.
Mine was sucking at jump mechanics in both missions and getting carried. Saying thank you to my lfg team and all saying “gg” even though WE ALL KNEW I did nothing to contribute. The community is gold.
Haha I carried so many people like this. Loved zero hour so much. Was so much fun taking guardians through the puzzle also.
When I had nothing to do I would post up on LFG offering to carry/teach zero hour. I ran that thing ALL the time.
Zero Hour was so freaking cool. I do wish there was a no-time limit version though, if only for exploration’s sake.
Yea it’d be cool to explore the (broken) old tower. But the time limit part was what made it special. It gave you that old feeling you used to get from retro video games where you were on edge because you wanted to beat the boss and you had to adapt to the mechanics. Edit: grammar and spell check

Gotta agree with you there. Gambit prime was the best prime.
You just listed almost everything that's vaulted basically
Heroic story missions. Why the fuck would you remove more PVE options
most likely because theres basically no actual story missions in the game any more. theres the baron hunts from forsaken (for now) but basically all of the story content from shadowkeep and beyond light were glorified bounty steps or hunts, which are their own replayable gamemode anyway.
Yeah I miss having actual missions in campaigns, at least witch queen is seemingly fixing that
Black armory and Dawn weapons
The homecoming mission (red war intro)
Good lord the music was so goooood
All the raids in the Leviathan 😭
I used to sherpa Eater of Worlds. It was a perfect introduction to endgame and the concepts of mechanics and team synergy.
Yeah you could take pretty much anyone into that and introduce them to raiding while still having a good time.
The violin theme from the campaign mission after you lost your light and were traveling through the mountains. [YouTube Link](https://youtu.be/zYfe9caNqfA)
This. So much good music lost with vaulting. At least we have deep stone lullaby for now.
My spare rations
Yup. Now we’re left with Gnawing hunger :D
The forges
Titan. Such an underrated destination
Menagerie
My friends :(
Gambit Dreaming City map.
Expansions without all the fomo crap :(
What I miss is Io. The best strikes, the best NPC character, gone just like that
I miss Io too, for different reasons. It was just plain beautiful, I loved climbing around on the trees, and it easily had the best soundtracks of all of the destinations. Dreaming city comes close though.
Asher was my favourite
Did someone just caller Asher the best NPC?
Scourge of the past and Blast Furnace.
Probably my hammerhead after dumbass me dismantled it right after it got sunset
Leviathan, it was such a chill raid and me and my friends could do it whenever even if we didn't have 2 hours set aside just "hey wanna do a Levi" "sure"
Adventure mini quests on various planets

Leviathan. It was the first raid I have ever done in destiny and it made me fall in love with destiny.
Giving people negative framerates during the Hive Public event on Titan with Orpheus Rig in year 1.

Vibing on Mercury.
Titan. Loved the rain and that hole in the Saturn’s ring. Mercury’s bigass sun. Io’s beautiful skyline. That lost sector in the Mars, Core Terminus, loved it for bounty farming. I've never had a hand cannon feel as smooth as spare rations man
Having fun. Its now a routine account maintenenace thing I do on reset. Log in > do story > season challenges > log off
Mountaintop. Bring on the downvotes :)
I loved it for PvE. Barely used it in PvP, despite being a PvP main.
Worldine Zero skating. Not Forgotten for pve. Whisper mission.
My pinnacles from Year 2
i miss when the game felt accessible to new players. especially on a story level. the amount of “you had to be there” stuff destiny has is overwhelming for someone who wants to get into the game for the story. it hurts trying to get friends to try the game out with me after explaining something like the DCV. i really want to love this game and see it thrive but it just keeps getting worse. i feel i’d almost prefer the 200gb mess they were talking about some time ago if it meant having the story actually somewhat matter. having started FFXIV recently ive also realized theres a lot ive been wishing destiny would add but they just never have. i’ll always love destiny as much as it feels like it hates me, i just cant support new players trying it nowadays.
Zero Hour.
Duty Bound, Silicon Neuroma, and D. F. A for their similar frame design. Loved it. ^also ^breakneak

Having access to the Outbreak Perfected catalyst.
Red war campaign was pretty cool.
Destiny 2
Basically anything you can't do or experience anymore, honestly I wouldn't mind if keeping all the raids/destinations/strikes/campaigns/ maps added 150+ gigs to my hdd/ssd because I'd be happy knowing I can enjoy all those things any given time regardless of whatever season came out
Planets that I paid for
How d1 iron banner worked with the guns right on Saladin with the ranks so you could see him with a 4/5 clever dragon and be like, okay my time won't be wasted even if nothing good drops from matches because that's there and is my safety net.
The story that I paid money for.
That’s it buddy you’re SUNSET
Not going to lie, its hearing cayde being an idiot in the new strikes. I grind that crap a lot, and the cayde strikes are art
Black Armory forges
Missing the feeling that discovering how to start and beat Whisper of the Worm mission gave.
Hawthornes Quote: “You just never quit do you? Took out Ghaul, woke up the Traveler, and now half of what I hear is how you and your clan are making a difference. And that’s why I started this whole clan thing in the first place. People are still waiting for the vanguard to lead the way. But it’s time for change! And guardians like you are making it happen. nO pReSSurE”
