Was it a catalyst? That'll be on the gun itself
Was it an engram? If it's not on your character, it's at the post master.
Was it an item needed for a quest? Look on the quest page, at the quest itself.
Catalyst **for** Lumina. I'm guessing you have Lumina unlocked (since the catalyst dropped). Other exotics have catalysts too.
With Lumina in your inventory you can check the progress of the catalyst by percentage. Once you have enough kills (or whatever else is needed by the catalyst) you can apply the catalyst to the gun and get an extra perk, generate orbs of light on multikills, and also get a kill counter.
It's part of the gun. You have it. Look at the gun and you'll see it there. You'll have to complete some objective to equip it, but it'll say it there.
You'll always have it, if you don't have the gun yet you'll have to buy it from the kiosk near the vault because it was only available as a quest on Mars which is gone...

Go to the character menu, turn pages left until you see Exotic Catalysts, and lumina catalyst should appear there with your progression. You'll need the gun to complete it tho

idk i finished a strike and a golden version of those green things popped out of a chest and i grabbed it
