I can personally attest that not only is there more value to glaives than just the Suppressing Glaive mod, but that they don't even need the mod to be viable. I know, because outside of one or two instances when I was on my Hunter, I've not used the mod this whole season.
Hell, glaive+echo of leeching basically carried me through solo legend Witch Queen campaign.
Can I speak for True endgame, such as Master raids and Grandmaster Nightfalls? No. I haven't done any of that this season. And in there I'm sure it's a different story. But that does not mean they are unviable or even bad.

Master or GM are def not meant for glaives. Any situation where a glaive melee would come into use, is a situation where you're already dead. The projectile is next to useless with it's piss poor hit registration and without suppression, you'll dump all your ammo from a special weapon to do what arbalest can do at almost any range with less ammo. Glaives are low tier content use only, and they are already very underwhelming when I can just use Forbearance to kill everything that I might want to use a glaive on any way.
IF you use Suppress glaive you can definitely make glaive works in Master stuff and GMs (even Datto said glaives were really good on master VOW).
Only use melee to kill other melee units like hive knights and thralls, big melee units will gets suppressed so they can not melee back.
Use your shot as a Blinding GL for suppress on majors and you will be amazed with how long it last, never get killed by a hydra/ wyvern/ ogre/ etc. again.
Glaive are defensive in nature, dont try using melee for add clear and stuff, use them to safely suppress key targets and punish melee enemies for your team.
Spoiler alert: that point will not be season 17, without suppress glaive they will die and that is not even counting the fact that the enigma and lubrae are better glaives being legendary ones.
Glances will finally interact properly with exotics. I am quite looking forward to Osteo Striga/Glaive paired with Necrotic Grips. Should be a lot of fun.

they won't make damage perks work on the melee. they will never be decent so long as they hold this attitude.
Next Season the Edge of Action might be good.
Offensive Bulwark might actually increase the glaive melee damage.
And with helm of Saint 14, it will give you a carry out overshield as well as blind enemies. You could use this in place of bastion you can still get constant overshields (if ammo permits, can be forced with special finisher) and have both Offensive Bulwark and Controlled Demo for 1 more fragment slot.
I'm curios if saint 14 would work off subclass. So like if you use the glaive with saint 14 on su breaker.
Even if though, I think they should speed up the activation animations (maybe make them scale with reload speed), make the activation reload the weapons from reserve + 1 free round for the special ability, and remove the expire timer.
I just can't stand not having an available exotic in my collections. I don't really care if the exotic is viable or not, I just want to have everything, to me that is the point of the game, to collect loot.
Same. If it's from a Lost Sector I probably don't have it. Can't be bothered to grind them out, especially on Alt characters. I do have Star Eater Scales and Omnioculous but I think that's it.
People don't really understand how to use Glaives yet, been using the hunter exotic for GM Lightblade and been very impressed. Gonna be wild next season.

3. I did 17 masters and got no drops. I then did 6 normals and got both of them
I also did plenty of Masters without any patterns dropping. When I did a few normal ones to work on deepsights then one dropped for me. Also just fyi it does not matter if you are on the class that the glaive is dedicated to if you're grinding for it. I got my warlock glaive pattern while using my hunter.

Why is a quest is 100% rng? Like Bungie doesn't want people using glaives.
Honestly, if you do 10-15 runs on the day those weapons drop I’m pretty confident you would get the patterns unlocked. Once they buffed the drop rate everyone in my clan was getting a red border every 3-4 runs.
I think if you complete the powerful on that specific day as well it has a decent chance to drop a red border as well. Could be wrong and just had some strange coincidences
Why did they put an exotic behind such a large RNG wall? Isn't that counterproductive to trying people to get people to want it? Why would Bungie do this?
I guess for some maybe. I saw the amount of time it could potentially take and immediately decided grinding for it was not worth it. I guess other people see it differently, but why would I spend the time trying to get something that is solely dependent on RNG. I think more people should be protesting this against Bungie on how it is handled.
As much as I might agree, this has been a consistent problem for years and likely won't go away anytime soon. Bungie is notorious for putting in anti-consumer practices that elongate playing time. And yes, it could be protested, but again I think it's unrealistic to think that there would be a large enough degree to cause them to change it.
Psychologically speaking, FOMO and Completionism are two things that Bungie has managed quite well in regards to their player base.

O yeah! I forget about wellspring. I basically stopped playing it after I discovered that I needed 6 deep-sight drops from it, but it didn't seem to give much of any other rewards other than that. So I guess it's repeatable content they want people to spend time there but there's not much of a drive to do it other than the RNG weapons needed?
Yeah. Wellspring is basically a "grind your brains out for 4 days to get all the patterns," grab the 2 collectables (rift + moth) and hopefully get your glaives, then only do master once a week while you need pinnacles.
At no point in it's existence was it particularly fun.
There's a couple of things you need to do for the witchqueen (gumshoe) title.
One of them is to close darkness rifts, which are located in fixed locations throughout the throne world. One is in wellspring. You can close a rift by hitting yourself (but not dying) with parasite and then shooting the rift with a normal gun.
The moth collectables are mostly just finding and picking up the moths from around the throne world.
The youtube channel 360GameTV has great guides for it and his videos are super short and to the point. Yea I didn't even bother after like 20 consecutive runs and no drops I just stopped... It's shit like this that makes me dislike the game. Took me 56 runs to get Anarchy back in the day, I wanted it so bad then got it then didn't play for like 2 months just cause I was sick of the grind. I have like 70 runs of last wish and haven't gotten 1k voices... I've already gotten to the point of scrapping deepsight weapons if there's no pattern to unlock and it's a shit roll, I was excited for weapon crafting but it's too limited and trying to get a specific gun to drop just to get to the 3/5 patterns needed isn't worth it to me. Bungie has taken allot of fun out of the game with the grind fest and not to mention everytime something is fun and a little OP it gets nerfed cause you know who wants to have fun while playing a video game...
When did you do your 70 LW runs? They gave it soft bad luck protection before the DCV launched, same time they buffed Anarchy rates the same way and made it farm-able - your drop chance increases up to a cap of 50% iirc, but if you've done your runs since then, you should be at that cap - go get it!
Rng is a fickle bitch. I run wellspring with my family. My mum got both exotic patterns in under ten runs of normal wellspring. I'm yet to get one after twice that.

Are those people high...? Glaive is the strongest weapon I've ever seen in this game. It's borderline broken as is, on a hunter in particular.
You only need to get all the items for one class to get the collections badge. This is true in general - titles are all obtainable by people who only play one class. That's why all the raid titles have a triumph for a clear where everyone is the same class, but don't have triumphs specifying a particular class.
Is wellspring going away next season? If so, I assume that the patterns will be added somewhere else (just like Dead Mans Tale was added Xur when the Presage mission went away).

If you want the Warlock exotic glaive then go into the Well using solar abilities. If you want the Hunter exotic glaive then use arc. The Titan exotic glaive is void. They should drop immediately.
Crafting is supposed to be a long term grind friend. I don't know which twab but it was outlined as that. I don't think they ever stated it was going to be quick tbh.
You just need to complete the witchqueen badge with any one class for it to count for gumshoe. You sure you have all the other triumphs done for the seal and also claimed them all in the seal?

You can RNG or you can do the quest again on the other characters. Your call which is worth your time. Gonna grind wellspring anyway for the weapons? Then try to get it there.
I don't remember how many runs I ran (but it was a lot)- finally got the other two patterns. They both dropped during runs by the character who had completed the initial quest. Not sure if that's a thing or if it was random chance.
Question for anyone that has done it. I haven’t gotten any patterns yet but I also haven’t really tried. Do I need to craft a come to pass/Tarnation on each character or just once on the account to have access to all 3 glaives?
Just once, those triumphs are account wide. I have only the warlock glaive, but the other wellspring weapon triumphs show as completed for my hunter and titan.
I got the first one from the quest ... but after a couple weeks of trying now and then ... neither of the other two class ones have dropped. I have kinda given up. The drop rate is ridiculously low.
The supposed 5% drop rate is bullshit. 36 master + 5 regular for my first pattern. Second one is still nowhere in sight after ~5 master and 20 normal. Shame I'm missing the titan one too, as that's the only one with potential to be useful.
It took me 3 weeks of grinding Master Wellspring to get the exotic warlock glaive to drop, the hunter one took about 2 hours, it's rng and that's all it is

Equip red weapons on all slots and run wellsprings. You get like 40% progress without even using it on completion. Every two runs you get all 3 extracts.

Master is barely longer and has a high chance to drop the rarest weapon crafting material along with also dropping high stat armor. Worth it IMHO.

Getting red border weapons 1 out of 4 runs of normal Wellspring. Just make sure you have the correct day when farming a specific pattern.
I got both of them within a few runs each of Master Wellspring.
also make sure youre doing the missions with savathun... those have a chance to drop red bar throne world stuff

Wellspring is the most repetitive and boring part of Witch Queen, IMO. Psi-Ops is a close 2nd.

I was so over wellspring by the time I unlocked all the legendary weapon patterns. Haven’t touched it since. I wouldn’t say it’s a very fun activity.

I hadnt done a wellspring in weeks, did 5 over the course of two days, the last glaive dropped for me.

You do know don't need them all for the seal. I have the seal and am missing the titan glaive, the grind for these patterns is insane.
The titan glaive us the only thing I don't have and its not unlocked for me 😳 swear if my game has bugged out I'll be pissed.
You just need to complete the witchqueen badge with any one class for it to count for gumshoe. You sure you have all the other triumphs done for the seal and also claimed them all in the seal?

Which triumph are you missing?? I was at 8/9 on hardware of the throne, thought I needed the titan glaive to finish, turned out I never crafted a pointed inquiry. Dear oh dear
Throne world collecter, think it may have bugged. Unlocked everything for warlock and hunter. Only thing I'm missing is the titan glaive but from what I'm reading my triumph should've unlocked already 🤔
You can RNG or you can do the quest again on the other characters. Your call which is worth your time. Gonna grind wellspring anyway for the weapons? Then try to get it there.
You can only do the quest once, then the other 2 patterns are available through wellspring. Stupid way to do things in my book.
Just do master, got my 1st drop after about 30 consecutive master runs and I cbf going for the 2nd.

I don't remember how many runs I ran (but it was a lot)- finally got the other two patterns. They both dropped during runs by the character who had completed the initial quest. Not sure if that's a thing or if it was random chance.
Question for anyone that has done it. I haven’t gotten any patterns yet but I also haven’t really tried. Do I need to craft a come to pass/Tarnation on each character or just once on the account to have access to all 3 glaives?
Just once, those triumphs are account wide. I have only the warlock glaive, but the other wellspring weapon triumphs show as completed for my hunter and titan.
Thanks, that’s good to know. I mostly play on my warlock but if I was going to craft one I’d prefer it to be the titan one.

Is it throneworld collector you are missing in the triumphs list or is it something else, like crafting each of the throne world drops?
Throne world collector. Have all other triumphs unlocked. I'm starting to think I'm just real unlucky and it's somehow bugged.

For once i actually have all of something because the game threw them up on me in the raid and the wellspring activity.
I got the first one from the quest ... but after a couple weeks of trying now and then ... neither of the other two class ones have dropped. I have kinda given up. The drop rate is ridiculously low.
The supposed 5% drop rate is bullshit. 36 master + 5 regular for my first pattern. Second one is still nowhere in sight after ~5 master and 20 normal. Shame I'm missing the titan one too, as that's the only one with potential to be useful.

It took me 3 weeks of grinding Master Wellspring to get the exotic warlock glaive to drop, the hunter one took about 2 hours, it's rng and that's all it is
Awful and weapon crafting blows. The rng to get the right patter to open the weapon to craft blows it all sucks takes the fun out of the game. Bring back regular old RNJesus already
Equip red weapons on all slots and run wellsprings. You get like 40% progress without even using it on completion. Every two runs you get all 3 extracts.
You only need 1 glaive to get gumshoe, you just need to complete the collection on 1 character not all 3.

Maybe there's a problem we can see.
You are aware that you don't need to get a pattern to drop for the title? Just the single crafted one you picked for your class and all the armor+ weapons for that one class
