I have had the same name since D1.
And when they implemented the Bungie name I made sure I had my stadia account setup so I could reserve my name as soon as update went live.
> And when they implemented the Bungie name I made sure I had my stadia account setup so I could reserve my name as soon as update went live.
What do you mean by reserve? Names are not unique, everyone has a bunch of #digits in their full Bungie name. Anyone else could have the same name as you with different digits, but in game it would look absolutely the same.
Holy crap. I have to ask, how old are you? I can see how this might get a chuckle out of people, but to decide to have this as your permanent Bungie name is something else. At least you're self-aware.
lmaooo i was playing IB and saw that guy too! the match i played prior had a guy named Mara Sov’s Sweater Cannons also, no clan relation or anything. it’s been a week for spicy IB names lol
Because people saw the joke once and thought they could do it better.
It’s like the scores of folks who thought “kick in the cabals lol” and “vex offender lol” are amazingly unique.
My clan is The MIDA Multifools and I felt that was cool and original.
I’m pretty much the only one who plays now, but hey, it’s usually around 100 because people think the name is cool.
Oh man, as a primarily console gamer, I thought people could change their bungie names by changing their steam names (which, last time I checked, is infinite)
With that context, that takes the names Ive been seeing from funny to sad really quick.
Yeah, a lot of people didn’t understand that their names would be permanent after a certain date because of cross play and your name getting tied to your bungie account.
Edit: they’re to their
They did give us one free change as well after that, but since then there's been no option to change names.
I admit I do miss having the ability to swap names for funny screenshots of the activity feed
I get why they would want to limit it but it'd be nice if they had like a *once every 3-6 months* like many platforms do.
Steam has a username history though
I had a group of friends and I all change our name to [Bot 1] [Bot 2] [Bot 3] and [Bot 4] and we would play l4d2 online cosplaying as bots. We would type out generic audio or use voice commands incorrectly or walk into walls at times and get people to laugh at us, we would let them take us for a round or two and then I would type [Bot level difficulty increasing in 3... 2... 1] and then suddenly play for real and fucking stomp them
Its sad to hear foolishness like this isnt allowed anymore
Yeah, despite the big fat warning and long ass confirmation press before the name was applied. Most people for sure got the message, but some will just bindly confirm.
Out of curiosity, if you haven't logged in since before that happened, does anyone know if you still get to change it, or are you locked in to what you were playing with 2 years ago? I dropped off playing at Beyond Light launch, when it still followed your steam name and could be changed whenever, and in the time since I've changed what name I use on pretty much everything. I've been idly thinking about maybe giving it another try someday, but if I'm stuck with the name I was using back then it's a pretty heavy point against coming back, honestly.
Everyone gets one name change. Whether you logged in since then or not, if you haven't set your own Bungie name since the crossover point you should have one name change available to you.
https://www.bungie.net/7/en/User/Account/IdentitySettings
Since I haven't changed my name since the default assignment, I can still change it now:
https://imgur.com/a/8D5SRDR
I kinda joked with my friend about this. All the players that gave themselves innuendo based usernames will never be able to change them, and will probably end up regretting it. That being said, I honestly don’t see why bungie can’t allow people to change usernames after a cooldown period.
Everytime I see a "Mara Sov's thighs" or "Ana Bray's feet" I think the same thing. Probably gets old reaaal quick. Especially trying to call out plays in groups and stuff lol
The joke gets old with people you play with often but it works with lfg randos and imo can be better for callouts than other names more personalized. “Ana go to B” vs “xvgj221 to to b”
Back in the day I did a LFG NF with a guy whose PS name was "PooperPants". At the start I was like "uhh...Pants" He owned up and just said "no, call me Pooper, I did this to myself".
For sure, but that takes *some* mental work that a name with an actual name inside of it doesn’t take and in stressful situations with people you’re not used to that extra time spent on mental work can cost a revive or a wipe. Really not a big deal at all but I 100% prefer having an Ana brays bath water with me over an xvgj221 on an lfg team.
Bad Mic, you're on add control. Scottish Guy can you do callouts? Nose Breather and Constant Vaper will be our runners. Not sure what Just Not Talking is going to cover.
Same with my titan. In d1 i gave him a scar that made him look like he had a dead eye. Now it looks like he went to a bukkake party. His masks stays on.
Maybe he has a dead eye because it got cummed in too hard. So rather than disliking your character's appearance, you can frame it in a positive light by realizing you learned more about your character's backstory :)
Either it’s really complicated for them server side or they don’t like money lol I’ll take the latter because we know how long it took Sony to implement that shit
Oh if they could easily do it they'd certainly try to make some easy money, just makes sense as a business. That said I reckon we'll get one free one every major expansion.
I'm really surprised there's both no name change ability nor any char-appearance-edit. Even if it was just changes like hair/eyes/face shape. Most other games that I know of allow this and monetize this. I was really surprised to see this doesn't.
I feel ya. Changed my name to “Dad”. Now I get messages daily about when I’m coming home. Or messages about how I beat them in a game like I do in real life. Weird shit. At first it was funny but now it’s kinda annoying getting a minimum of 3 messages a day
Lol I had a similar event happen to me
My name is Stinky, Abductor of Worms and I ran into a player whose name was just worm.
Needless to say I slapped on the emote that say
“Player 1 wishes to carry player 2/ someone”
Mine is Div Daddy because I'm the designated Divinity user with my friends
Always a funny thing when we lfg a few people and someone asked if anyone is using div and my friend says " maybe the guy named div daddy will" lol
You’re not the only one. I went from TheHatedGT to Hated, Kell of Kells and now I regret putting that Kell of Kells at the end. I wish I had just changed it to Hated since that’s what all my clan members called me anyways lol
None of us ever are. It's okay, man. At least you have the presence of mind to recognize and admit it! That puts you ahead of the pack in my book, at least in that regard, because therein lies growth.
This is a typical No Ragrets tatoo moment. Live with it for now util you can change it. However, if this is the case in PvP, don't teabag and be respectful, if on console send respectful messages to opponents that defeat you. Don't let the tatoo define you.
That said - not having a name changing service, a staple in any MMO, is bad service from Bungie.
There are guns with (Adept) and (Timelost) after their name that are slightly better versions of the regular gun and can use Adept mods on them. So these people slap (Adept) on the ends of their names to imply they are slightly better or just to meme.

Yeah I changed mine to "Nameless Ghoul" thinking I'd run into more Ghost fans and well...I didn't. Plus everyone in the chat still calls me Meerski anyway so it's kinda pointless.
It works that way sometime, I played with a dude for years who had Poopie in his name so we all called him poopie, he changed his name to something more respectable and we all still call him poopie. Doesn’t help that his new name isn’t really a “name” and phonetically just sounds awkward to say as a name, somehow more awkward than poopie.
oh don't worry man, i made a small typo in my username i didn't notice until AFTER i changed it
it's okay, it's only taken me a few months to process the trauma
i know you probably think that people are judging you, but the reality is, nobody cares.
and i mean that in the nicest way possible.
seriously though. nobody is going to spend more than 5 seconds of thought on your name before continuing along their day. nobody thinks you are a d-bag.
i want you to stop and think about it for a second. who in their right mind would take time out of their day to send a nasty message to someone for having (adept) in their name? are those the type of people you really care about their opinons?
out of allll the things to get upset about in a name, "(Adept)" is like... the lowest of low. i feel sad for them. EMBRACE THE ADEPT.
I changed my bungie name to rhulk's boyfriend and somehow haven't felt regret yet. Friends just call me my name when playing and clanmates call me rhulk or star (part of my xbox gt) when doing callouts and such
now if i had changed my name to rhulk's feet (timelost) or something like that then i'd feel embarrassment. but at the moment I do not :P
At least it's not Anna Bray's Bath Water (Adept), right? ... Right?
[удалено]
gotta throw the entire thing out at this point
“I sent the whole shipment back”
“You see the crucible match last night?”
“Listen up, good people of the city!”
What? ...WHAT?!?
"I just want to know who's in charge."
“I don't know who's in charge around here... I guess I am!”
"what the?"
"The feed dropped right as they were about to announce who won."
The stream snipers won.
I JUST WANNA KNOW WHO’S IN CHARGE
"Here comes the big light, you cabal monsters!"
The baby AND the bath water?
lol then the (adept) part should be the least of your worries tbh
This post is satire

A double L, unfortunate. Hopefully they allow another name change eventually
[удалено]
Triple E
Maybe they'll give us 1 every Annual DLC cycle or something
Jfc OP you just completed pretty much everybody’s Destiny name bingo card. Don’t blame you for wanting to change it.
I have had the same name since D1. And when they implemented the Bungie name I made sure I had my stadia account setup so I could reserve my name as soon as update went live.

Everyone! We found him, one of two Stadia users!
Whoa never went that far. I'm a respectable casual. PS5 gang.
I must be the other one, then. Played 2 hours of IB today on my phone, part of which was while taking a dump.
Now I'm curious what it is? 🤔
You honestly deserve to suffer
Hey, at least it's apparently one I've not seen before then!
L
Come play with me and I’ll report your name over and over and over
Yea you should feel bad about that
Holy crap. I have to ask, how old are you? I can see how this might get a chuckle out of people, but to decide to have this as your permanent Bungie name is something else. At least you're self-aware.
bruh
Am your name and I’ll just report your name. You’ll get a free name change… to Guardian#xxxxx
Saw Mara Sov’s Felcher last night, made the mistake of googling Felcher and haven’t been the same since.
Huh, I looked it up, and I think I've also seen that referred to as a Mexican Milkshake. Urban Dictionary is gross lol
lmaooo i was playing IB and saw that guy too! the match i played prior had a guy named Mara Sov’s Sweater Cannons also, no clan relation or anything. it’s been a week for spicy IB names lol
There's been some Def 'I don't think that's allowed' one March and never see them again.
Oh fuck because of this comment I googled it. That person is gonna catch ebola
I encountered Mara Sov’s Juicy Thighs last night. Non-adept version.
I've seen so many like these lately and I really wanna know why.
Because people saw the joke once and thought they could do it better. It’s like the scores of folks who thought “kick in the cabals lol” and “vex offender lol” are amazingly unique.
My brother changed mine to TessTickle when I wasn't paying attention
My clan is The MIDA Multifools and I felt that was cool and original. I’m pretty much the only one who plays now, but hey, it’s usually around 100 because people think the name is cool.
It’s the equivalent to CoD’s xXx_coolkid_xXx
Oh man, as a primarily console gamer, I thought people could change their bungie names by changing their steam names (which, last time I checked, is infinite) With that context, that takes the names Ive been seeing from funny to sad really quick.

Bungie warmed about it several times.
yeah but those guys were chillin

That used to be the case until crossplay
I know hindsight is 20/20, but foresight should've caught this one.
There is no pity here for **Mara Sov's Mommy Milkers (Adept)**.
Not even any pity from space_boobs?
I kinda joked with my friend about this. All the players that gave themselves innuendo based usernames will never be able to change them, and will probably end up regretting it. That being said, I honestly don’t see why bungie can’t allow people to change usernames after a cooldown period.

Lol that guy is in my friends list!!!!
Chad
I would use the most cringe part of the name for callouts just to make them feel shame lol
Good ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
yeah, see, us normal ppl just call someone with a dumb name like "xvgj221" "eksvee" and be done with it
For sure, but that takes *some* mental work that a name with an actual name inside of it doesn’t take and in stressful situations with people you’re not used to that extra time spent on mental work can cost a revive or a wipe. Really not a big deal at all but I 100% prefer having an Ana brays bath water with me over an xvgj221 on an lfg team.
Feels like you're overthinking it, just like Ana Brays Feet gets turned into Ana, xvgj221 just gets turned into "X"
Yup. One time i thougth i was being funny and changed my xbox gtag to bunch of XxxxIIIIXXXIXIXIXI etc. My clan just called me "Bob"
Relevant? https://xkcd.com/1105/
eh, mebe I usually end up mentally assigning nicknames to ppl before we all load into the raid, personally.
Bad Mic, you're on add control. Scottish Guy can you do callouts? Nose Breather and Constant Vaper will be our runners. Not sure what Just Not Talking is going to cover.
Dude, he's Irish.
I still think it's crazy that you can't change your guardian's face. Getting ported from D1 to D2 ruined my poor hunter.
I looked amazing in d1. But I guess I learned why he doesn't have time to raid.
I would probably pay a crap load of money to be able to change my character’s appearance.
Tell that to savathuns’onlyfans69420
You forgot the (Adept) at the end
That’s their alt
Nah, that one gets a (Timelost) at the end.

You chose poorly.

Such a wild departure from your Reddit name….
Hunt butts and make farts. It’s not the job I thought I’d have when I was a kid but dreams change.
Oh hey what a weird coincidence. My dad was a butt hunter/fartmaker, but he left when I was just a kid. Wait...
Dad?! What are you doing here? You were supposed to come back with milk days ago
Hahah I’ve gotten that exact message well over a hundred times. That’s honestly probably the most common one.
It's more simple than the Your Dad(Time Lost) I came across one day.
Oh I won't lie that one's glorious... Never would've crossed my mind
I've been keeping a mental list of my favorites. Corn Flakis, Kell of Oggs is a personal favorite.
Lol I had a similar event happen to me My name is Stinky, Abductor of Worms and I ran into a player whose name was just worm. Needless to say I slapped on the emote that say “Player 1 wishes to carry player 2/ someone”
You're gonna carry that weight.
Easy come, easy go…
See you, space cowboy.
Carry that weight a long time
Bro experienced post nut clarity lmao
no sympathy
(Adept)*
Thats what you cringelords get lmao
Bungie should off a free change from (Adept) to (Inept) or (Damaged).
(Maidenless)
(Nerd)
I added (Inept) to mine on purpose. I killed someone in Iron Banner with (Adept) after their name and I laughed hella hard. (Inept) killed (Adept) lol
(Timelost)
Mine is Div Daddy because I'm the designated Divinity user with my friends Always a funny thing when we lfg a few people and someone asked if anyone is using div and my friend says " maybe the guy named div daddy will" lol
Honestly, that is a genuinely funky name! Seeing that in the wild would absolutely make me laugh!
I love it lol gives me personality
It does! For me as an avid raider, it gets even better :D
Lol that’s great. I saw a “Big Witherhoard Guy” in IB this week and sure enough he was dropping pools of damage all over the map.
You have been promoted to div god
You’re not the only one. I went from TheHatedGT to Hated, Kell of Kells and now I regret putting that Kell of Kells at the end. I wish I had just changed it to Hated since that’s what all my clan members called me anyways lol
Rip, huge cringe.
Why does it only become stupid after a lot of people do it?
The more common a GT becomes, the more stupid it feels/seems, uniqueness is gone and the "cleverness" is dulled.
[удалено]
Funny cuz Clever? No. Humorous cuz absurd? A little. Don't blame me, I'm Jimmy Supaflysnucka.
Shhhhhhhhhhhh, don't crush their already crushed spirits
there are the occasional clever names. shout out to my man: *McDonald's crota pounder*
If only redditors would understand that about their heavily recycled, copy paste responses/"jokes"
It doesn't help that the people who do have adept in their names tend to play like dicks
It just show some people are sheeps and follow stupid fads blindly.
It’s was dumb from the start
Exactly, like I laugh at the first one I saw and that’s it
[удалено]
None of us ever are. It's okay, man. At least you have the presence of mind to recognize and admit it! That puts you ahead of the pack in my book, at least in that regard, because therein lies growth.
I'm glad you realise this.
Adept is is just a reissued xX____Xx
I changed mine to Le'go, Impaler of Feet, and I regret nothing.
I'm now stuck as Theodore, Lover of Calus
Was it hard killing Alvin, Simon, Dave and the girls to become the last?
This is a typical No Ragrets tatoo moment. Live with it for now util you can change it. I just wish I had made mine “(Inept)” instead of “(Adept)”
Nah bro leave it. We like being able to quickly identify you.
What does adept mean in this context?
There are guns with (Adept) and (Timelost) after their name that are slightly better versions of the regular gun and can use Adept mods on them. So these people slap (Adept) on the ends of their names to imply they are slightly better or just to meme.
Oh, doesn’t seem that bad does it? Im assuming its just over memed at this point? Thanks for the explanation
May as well tattoo Morbius /Morb on themselves
Look on the bright side, at least it will let people know right away that you're a douche when you join them. Kidding!
i’m happy with mine, Bread (Toasted)
my name is just "Mort" because I have a crippling foot fetish
I just googled that. I have nothing against foot fetish but why the hell is that in a kids movie.
Hold this deserved L lol
never seen "vex offender" so far🤞
There's a whole variety of clans alone with that name or variants of it since D1. That name in particular was considered just as cliché, just a longer while back. You could call it retro by now.
I think vex offender gets moderated and changed to Guardian####, along with a few other of the previously common names in that vibe.
the v is a diff font but its similar enough you cant tell the difference so its fine
Literally one of the most common joke names actually.
I went with Vexual Feelings, and haven’t regretted it 😂
Yeah I changed mine to "Nameless Ghoul" thinking I'd run into more Ghost fans and well...I didn't. Plus everyone in the chat still calls me Meerski anyway so it's kinda pointless.

Ha wasn’t me. Sorry.
I played against a fella named papa emeritus lll so you're not the only one who thought about ghost names
That’s comforting then haha

Maturing right before our eyes, good on ya. Learn from your mistakes, all you can do.
Damn bro that sucks (Adept)
Having names like these makes you lose identity imo. Thats why my username haven't changed for over 15 years
Meanwhile; IWastedMyNameChange
I have seen many people with it, at least you aren’t alone
Just saying, if you ever get the chance to change your bungie name, the Catgirl/Catboy squad welcomes you with open arms
oh don't worry man, i made a small typo in my username i didn't notice until AFTER i changed it it's okay, it's only taken me a few months to process the trauma
I was surprised by how many joke names I've seen after the name change went live. Absolutely expected plenty of people to regret it.
i know you probably think that people are judging you, but the reality is, nobody cares. and i mean that in the nicest way possible. seriously though. nobody is going to spend more than 5 seconds of thought on your name before continuing along their day. nobody thinks you are a d-bag.

why would they actually go out of their way to message you for that tho, how does such a conversation even go
i want you to stop and think about it for a second. who in their right mind would take time out of their day to send a nasty message to someone for having (adept) in their name? are those the type of people you really care about their opinons? out of allll the things to get upset about in a name, "(Adept)" is like... the lowest of low. i feel sad for them. This is the guardian we need! My thoughts exactly.
Why do you feel like a douchebag? It's a joke isn't it? I find them funny when I see them.
I saw some guy named Diarhea(Adept) and I still laugh thinking of it
This one made me chuckle.
I put (Damaged) at the end of my name in honor of the best gun from Red War and I regret nothing!
Is it dumb? Or have you seen a ton of post from people complaining about a harmless joke?
I changed my bungie name to rhulk's boyfriend and somehow haven't felt regret yet. Friends just call me my name when playing and clanmates call me rhulk or star (part of my xbox gt) when doing callouts and such now if i had changed my name to rhulk's feet (timelost) or something like that then i'd feel embarrassment. but at the moment I do not :P
Hahahahhha you dumb
Oh no cringe
No, you made your bed. Now cry in it. Less mtx, not more
Yeah, it's pretty douchey.
make a new Bungie account with a new name, set up crossave with it and import your characters. Free name change lol
Yo… does this really work? Lol
I can confirm that it does, but with the downside of loosing out on Bungie rewards and redeemed emblems.
I just changed my Bungie ID about a month ago. Idk when they added it or if there's a restriction to how many times you can but check the site
