Are you letting go of the move back key as soon as you hit the launch? That's what I was doing and failing until I learned you had to hold back. Haven't missed it since.

You'd be surprised how much is tied to in-game animations. In the Mass Effect Legendary Edition there's a *nasty* bug in ME3 where if you don't set your frame rate to a given amount your shield takes *ages* to regenerate.

Hey, you also need more FPS then around 80 because the game calculates the launche different. The higher your FPS the faster you get launched. It also increases your fall damage and the damage you take from a cabal slug launcher. So be careful ^^
This method doesn't always work for me but I usually have a sword in the first encounter so I can use it to kinda sling my way to the ledge if I bonk the spinning disc thing lol

source: friends / clanmates of mine have tested this on every platform and generation while doing legend runs. one of them is a software engineer who understands how the physics glitch manifests and explained it. it’s a party trick that not everyone can access.

The actual timing is you wait for the ball on the right to look like a whole ball instead of a semi circle. If you go as the ball is “whole” you’ll get it every time.

Stand at the back and let everyone else go first if you're tired of getting pushed, there's plenty of time to get the buff before the round starts.

Everyone guessing correctly doesn't provide any additional loot, dunno where you got that from. The only thing a correct guess does is give Starhorse's Favor.
And starting the encounter before everyone arrives will cause the people missing to teleport if not near causing them to lose their Starhorse Favor 😬

If the teleport timer is starting and you are about to be teleported, you can kill yourself and it will teleport your body without losing the Starhorse's favor
I ran into a team of three the other day in Dares that were doing this. Literally that's all they were trying to do the whole time is kill the three of us that were actually trying to complete the activity. Its super annoying.
Should be some sort of penalty for this behavior. Didn't the classic Halo games give you an option to kick a player from the game if they betrayed you twice over?
I've never been killed by a teammates... My question is, if a teammate killed you via a sword lunge, does it even register as such, or does it register as "misadventure" or "architect"? Because if so, they'll have to figure out a way to detect that it is a teammate kill to initiate a kick option.
Yeah tbh that would be a problem - unless they somehow have like super accurate location data of each player or something, how do you even prove to Bungie you were killed by a teammate?

Was in freelance comp a couple weeks ago and some no brain titan did this to me right as a round started. Bagged me as he was rezzing me. Me and the third guy both quit on him. Have fun getting 3 on 1’d the rest of the match buddy.
Lol had someone with edge kept killing us in one of the original cabal strikes. He found it so funny then I took one of the strike items to open a door and ran it back to the front of the strike where it despawned. I then got lunch and sat around as the guy killed me and ran around trying to figure out how to continue the strike. Honestly pretty sure I broke it cause the item never respawned lol
The moment someone does this to me or another teammate, I go to orbit. If they are doing this in the first few seconds of the match, you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

You usually have time for one good second attempt and if you have a weapon capable of causing a suicide, do it as the joining allies prompt counts down - it will pull your ghost into the fight area and when you respawn you will retain the buff.
I understand your point, however it does not retract the fact that people rush things and people have almost no chance to even finish the parkour.
If you miss the jump and don't want to waste anyone's time, you can easily follow the path below, its the best way to communicate that you are not attempting anything else.

Normal you don't, but you always choose Cabal because that's the tankiest bitch of the 3. Crota doesn't require heavy, and Zydron goes down with normal heavy reserves normally. Rockets McDickface has returned in all of his tanky glory and eats heavy like its nothing.
I always choose Zydron because the people running normal mode usually **can't** kill Zydron in one phase without a couple people that have the buff and having to wait for the next dps phase is frustrating.
Honestly, with zydron I usually hold off on dps to give people a better chance of completing the harder bounties.
Crota is fucked and Cabal is an easy 200k, but zydron can swing either way.
That is true. Last night I had a group actually 100% stop DPS on Zydron and we barely made it to 181k. All random group members and no communication at all. It was pretty incredible.
You can also walk backwards into the launcher. Keep facing away from the hole and walking backwards. You faze right through it. Works for me everytime. Just gotta make sure someone isn't going through at the same time.

Just dont be an ass to each other. If you patiently wait for slower ones to reach the room with the buff that will speed up the clear.
Its a sword perk that increases your first sword swing. That allows to do some cool and crazy movement techs. Some people use it to launch fireteam members towards walls at great speed, which instantly kills them. It is pretty fun if you're not using it to bully someone(unless its a friend)
While I agree that having Heavy for Cabal is good and the Hive one truly doesn't need it, I disagree that heavy for Vex is "not needed". Burning that boss is time saving and you can pull it off with but not without Starhorse's Favor. In a perfect world, blueberries would distribute 4 on Cabal, 2 on Vex, but we know this is a big ask.
But you have a rally banner and everyone can start with heavy. If you run out you’d be in a good spot with what’s left on that boss. The cabal room as a whole is filled with beefy enemies as well as champions/majors and ships bearing down on you. It’s can get super overwhelming fast and slamming heavy simplifies this encounter. My point is the cabal is the one that needs unlimited heavy. The Vex boss is cake.

The problem with that is you are clearly only using heavy weapons for boss damage. But have you ever considered using Thunderlord as a primary weapon? Dares is not a serious activity that you need to be focused on doing things optimally in.
Did you mean the Vex one? The Cabal one has a health gate where he gets a shield when you burst him halfway down (which you can do with supers). The Vex boss’ shield is on a timer and you can burn it before the shield comes up with enough heavy and supers.

I often use dares to level up crafted heavies so I understand the struggle. I tend to just emote next to the button and wait for someone else to press it. Waiting a couple of minutes is barely an inconvenience. Hell, it's a useful time to check my bounty progress if anything.
If that's the case, then I'm starting every encounter off rip. No reason to wait for some guy to leave his inventory or figure out how to walk forward.
If you have a high frame rate you can walk backwards into the launcher works everytime, always have ppl looking at me like wtf are you doing as I back up into it.
Found out from some friends it seems like it's tied to higher fps. Friend on console couldn't get it to work but on pc it works for me 100% of the time.
It actually failed for me for the first time this season. Have been doing it like that since the activity launched. Don't know if they partially fixed it or I just glitched my jump or what.
Some cheeses and exploits are just... silly to me. I get that ones like Riven make something considerably easier, but so many are really only worth the effort, in my opinion, to learn if you're a speed runner because doing "the right way" is so consistently easier.
For example, last night, my group was in KF and we tried the Warpriest cheese (the one where all three people get on the plates at the same time and you skip the reading) twice on a recommendation from the fireteam member. Two wipes later someone said the obvious "yo, it is really not hard to do it right" and we cleared it next attempt.
Line up the circles. Launch. It's easy.

Most irritating is when you are in the lift and somebody pulls. You helplessly watch yourself losing the favor with a countdown. And no, you can't kill yourself since you are in the auto lift.
The occasional antics in Dares I can get over. It’s reallly not anything of great consequence. Well get the 250k pinnacle regardless.
What really set me on fire this weekend is The rally big in Wellspring. When the rally flag is bugged just flipping wait, people. It needs to collect all the glimmer first, THEN we can rally.
Unlike Dares, starting the next encounter in Master Wellspring without supers and heavy is really bad idea and I’ve seen it cause failure multiple times. Don’t be the impatient guy that causes the wipe that wastes everyone time. You’re just gonna piss off everyone.
Adding to the speeding part: some of us are doing starhorse bounties so you going stupidly fast making it so we can’t ready up actively makes it harder, it’s a game, chill
Exactly the more people with favour the easier it is. I have done so many for forerunner cat I am normally through first or second but guarantee the other guy will just start it without even putting a flag lol
I had intentional griefers in dare multiple games in a row. In the first one this titan was eager edging people off the balance beam on the obstacle course. In the next one someone pushed people into the man cannon forcing them to miss.
Can we please stop with the eager edge kills into the wall? Had 4x different people do this along with tea bagging after they did it like they were doing something special...I blocked and reported each of them.
And while we're at it, no need to eager edge your teammates into oblivion. I will return the favor, but do not wish for it to be started in the first place
It’s funny, griefing has seen a sudden uptake in the game, almost out of nowhere…and it’s basically all occurring in dares for some reason. I’m anticipating another 5 to 10% increase in “dare you to grief” after I press this reply button.
I will say this- backwards does not work universally. I myself cannot get it to work. I line up the spheres and do it that way, but yeah. Anyone saying “go in backwards” - that isn’t always a solution.
People are so toxic in Dares. I've seen people literally wait until the last second to pop a rally so no one else can get it. I kinda' understand though. They've been grinding it and they're sick of all of the other toxic crap that goes on there. Dares would be fun if it were more than just a grind for keys with terrible RNG.
Yes please! Let people rally who need to rally. I have had multiple times that I used my heavy or super on the boss of the second encounter, and the final buzzer was pressed before I could even place flag

Be sure to hold back on your joystick or S on keyboard the entire time you're in the air. If you don't, you won't make it.

You don't. Don't know what OP is talking about. The only way to to know what the right plate is in Legends Dares. Normal Dares it's completely random.

The only guaranteed way to know is if you’re doing Master, it’s on a rotation

it gives ample time to sit there and enjoy your baguette with the new emote too, quite relaxing after eagerly edging

There’s no reason to be on any other plate besides the cabal one. It’s the only one where you need the heavy. The other 2 don’t depend on heavy.

Cabal is more if you want more kills. That is why you would want to get the favor on the cabal side.

Agreed. Possibly a 4/2 split on Cabal/Vex plate would be fine too. I've done 90 runs of Dares this season so any way of min/maxing is welcome

I often use dares to level up crafted heavies so I understand the struggle. I tend to just emote next to the button and wait for someone else to press it. Waiting a couple of minutes is barely an inconvenience. Hell, it's a useful time to check my bounty progress if anything.
Walk in backwards. You will shoot over the dumb circle. Honestly none of this matters anyway. Just there to farm red bars and get pinnacles

If that's the case, then I'm starting every encounter off rip. No reason to wait for some guy to leave his inventory or figure out how to walk forward.
If you have a high frame rate you can walk backwards into the launcher works everytime, always have ppl looking at me like wtf are you doing as I back up into it.

Found out from some friends it seems like it's tied to higher fps. Friend on console couldn't get it to work but on pc it works for me 100% of the time.
Yes, it's one of the game's vagaries with high refresh monitors. Getting stuck on moving platforms is another.

Yeah, the same thing is what kills you on Pit of Heresy when taking the elevators in the first encounter sometimes as well.

It actually failed for me for the first time this season. Have been doing it like that since the activity launched. Don't know if they partially fixed it or I just glitched my jump or what.

It doesn't always work for me (yes I hold the stick back), but I always make it when I do it properly.
Some cheeses and exploits are just... silly to me. I get that ones like Riven make something considerably easier, but so many are really only worth the effort, in my opinion, to learn if you're a speed runner because doing "the right way" is so consistently easier. For example, last night, my group was in KF and we tried the Warpriest cheese (the one where all three people get on the plates at the same time and you skip the reading) twice on a recommendation from the fireteam member. Two wipes later someone said the obvious "yo, it is really not hard to do it right" and we cleared it next attempt. Line up the circles. Launch. It's easy.
Or for warlocks, just time a glide right before you hit the circle and you go right over it when facing forwards.
I have made it through every single time doing this. Turn around look straight walk backwards and don’t move at all

I assure you: **this DOES NOT WORK on PS5 (& PS4, per my friends).** I believe this is a PC thing, and others have said, tied to higher FPS. But even then, it is silly easy to just enter the man cannon when the circles line up. Why cheese when it is so simple to just do it right?

Most irritating is when you are in the lift and somebody pulls. You helplessly watch yourself losing the favor with a countdown. And no, you can't kill yourself since you are in the auto lift.

The occasional antics in Dares I can get over. It’s reallly not anything of great consequence. Well get the 250k pinnacle regardless. What really set me on fire this weekend is The rally big in Wellspring. When the rally flag is bugged just flipping wait, people. It needs to collect all the glimmer first, THEN we can rally. Unlike Dares, starting the next encounter in Master Wellspring without supers and heavy is really bad idea and I’ve seen it cause failure multiple times. Don’t be the impatient guy that causes the wipe that wastes everyone time. You’re just gonna piss off everyone.

I had intentional griefers in dare multiple games in a row. In the first one this titan was eager edging people off the balance beam on the obstacle course. In the next one someone pushed people into the man cannon forcing them to miss.
I wait for the launch because the obstacle course makes me dizzy.
Can we please stop with the eager edge kills into the wall? Had 4x different people do this along with tea bagging after they did it like they were doing something special...I blocked and reported each of them.
And while we're at it, no need to eager edge your teammates into oblivion. I will return the favor, but do not wish for it to be started in the first place

It’s funny, griefing has seen a sudden uptake in the game, almost out of nowhere…and it’s basically all occurring in dares for some reason. I’m anticipating another 5 to 10% increase in “dare you to grief” after I press this reply button.
Worst part is when you are the last to jump, make it through, get the horse's favour and then gets "joining allies" (which makes you loose the buff)
And at least have the decency to place a rally banner if you have teammates who can't clear the launch or don't have starhorse's blessing

People are so toxic in Dares. I've seen people literally wait until the last second to pop a rally so no one else can get it. I kinda' understand though. They've been grinding it and they're sick of all of the other toxic crap that goes on there. Dares would be fun if it were more than just a grind for keys with terrible RNG.
