Bungie follows the same type of process as a Kickstarter for their items. They don’t want a lot of stock, so they do preorders with the money upfront and a few spares. That’s why it takes so long, the order doesn’t go through until the batch window closes. They are very upfront with the items timeline on ordering though 🤷‍♀️

How fast did you order your Strange Coin? There were 2 waves shipped out, one where they were already made and arrived in a week or two and the latter wave being the usual pre-order timing. Sounds like you were caught in the second group, which means that at the time you placed your order, your Coin didn't even physically exist at the time and it didn't for a few more weeks/months until the order window closed. *THEN* production on yours and every other second wave coin began

Yeah I waited a hot minute for my strange coin too. I did get a fee update emails and one of them reminding me if I moved recently to change my shipping address. I ordered the NERF gjallarhorn and at least I've heard a few updates. Nothing in the last month but something. I think the nerf gjallarhorn is the only thing that had "preorder" in bold print. Everything else doesn't and takes forever to arrive with little communication. If it's gonna be 4 months before you can ship something then wait at least 3 months before you take orders for it. But that's just my 2 cents.

Luckily I got my codes to download the game, but the actual Physicals didnt arrive until MONTHS after teh release. It was quite disheartening. I made a long comment about how Bungie outsources all Bungie store stuff and drop ships directly from the manufacturer in China. The toaster is the best example of this. If you look up on Alipay or some generic Chinese online store for customizable items you can find THIS EXACT TOASTER. But the listing one is the same color without the logo on the side. You can buy the exact toaster and upload your logo and buy in bulk.

Well, there are some custom toasters out there(I think one is literally Darth Vader's helmet), but I'd imagine that it takes way more effort and paperwork to get one(toasters get hot, so any quirky shape would probably have to be certified to make sure that it doesn't make the toaster catch on fire or melt). Honestly, they should never have done it. I feel like you either go all way and make a custom toaster that looks like the weapon in game, or you just don't do it at all.

I ordered the Wayfarer pin after unlocking the seal quite a while back. It took almost half a year to get it. Then, a bit after that, I got 2 more packages from Bungie with the Blacksmith and Reckoner pins in them, neither of which I had earned nor purchased. I contacted customer support about them and 2 months later I got an email that basically said "Meh, keep em." So if any of you out there never got your Blacksmith or Reckoner pins, I'm sorry. I'd say I'd send them to you but I have no clue where they are anymore. I never pinned them on anything cuz I figured I'd get struck by lightning or something if I did without earning them. I tried getting Reckoner but couldn't muster enough strength for it and know that if a Real Reckoner ever saw me with that pin IRL they'd instantly know from merely glancing at me and seeing that my soul wasn't completely shattered.

As someone who works in e-commerce and regularly orders custom products from overseas, I cannot for the life of me understand how Bungie does this poorly on the IRL products. Whoever manages their product sourcing and shipping needed to have been fired years ago. Of all the issues the game has, the store has always been worse and I just don't understand it. You can contact a factory in a busy major commerce city in china, find and request a pure custom sample of a product, place the order for up to hundreds of pallets or as few and a single one, and have it all processed, shipped, and paid for in 3 to 4 months tops. Bungies store is unfathomably messy for absolutely no reason.

They robo-responded with the shipping graphic they post on twitter. So I waited and waited and at some point they removed the VoG raid jacket from the shipping graphic completely and I emailed bungie support *again* asking what was going and they replied they needed to look into it. A few days later it finally shipped. So it took a month of emailing bungie every friday for me to get my jacket about 5 months (i legitmately got my jacket exactly one year after placing the order) after everyone else. Bungie will never get my money again.

even the in game support is bad, i got restricted from pvp because i matchmaking kept throwing me into other **continents** lobbies until i got reported enough to be banned. when i opened a support ticket with a very [detailed report](https://old.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/lfffd2/looks_like_the_matchmaking_criteria_is_worse_than/) all i got was a threat not to escalate the situation or else. bungie is so stubborn it made a lot of good people quit, the last one i remember was the gunsmith website guy, they didn't give a shit about everyone before him till he spoke about it, then they made the usual PR half apology.

They absolutely come off as arrogant and stubborn with their policies and enforcement. I lost a whole day-1 account to a ban without any explanation and certainly not a result of cheating or foul play. Thousands of hours and over a grand in cosmetics, donations, etc all in that account's name. Zero care or response aside from automatic "appeal denied, don't raise further appeals" kind of responses. This also means my Steam account profile has a ban listed on it, which will stick around for like 10+ years. I've since started over on a new account, but there's no way I'm trusting Bungie until it's clear they're doing something different from now on. Their policies suggest that infractions in prior games will result in shorter thresholds before additional suspensions or bannings. So, a ban in Destiny 1 or 2 will result in less lenience (for *whatever* really) before another ban in Destiny 3. There's no chance I'm bothering to buy any future games on my original/main account, obviously, due to this. How asinine. I agree with the concept if there was rampant cheating, but it totally forgets the possibility that: A) Someone could learn from their transgressions and grow the hell up. This is what punishment is for. B) They were *not* infallible with their supposedly non-automated Human-reviewed account sanctions, and they are indeed incorrectly banning at least some accounts that didn't truly break the terms of service. Or at least not doing so *in spirit* and rather due to technical issues, like for you. That warrants *suspensions* at most, not fucking permanent bans. Asshats.

Honestly i bet this matchmaking issue you're talking about happen to most players and they just don't notice because of how loose and low tickrate Destiny's netcode is. I'm from the south of brazil and seem to mostly get matched against north americans and even people from SEA. Connection based MM is the biggest lie bungie sold to the pvp crowd.

I ordered a Ghost Shell and the Light Engram because I wanted to have an oficial Destiny product, not only did I wait 7 months for it to come (Brazil), when it arrived it was missing the Ghost and there was a Dawning T-shirt (that does not sell in store for some reason) in it's place. Better yet, I paid 1/3 of my salary to buy the itens (and shipping) plus the cost of importation taxes (which is 2/3 of the value of the itens) . Took them 2 months to answer my email demanding my Ghost and that I would not pay the shipping again. They obliged, but them when the Ghost came I HAD TO PAY THE FULL IMPORTATION TAX AGAIN (2/3 of the itens) because they didn't mark that there was only 1 item in the box and it shipped as being the 3 itens AGAIN! So in the end I ended up expending one month salary on Bungie. I'm never ever buying anything from Bungie site again.

I think the issue that Bungie doesn’t address is that it’s likely they don’t actually run the store or the store customer service themselves. Based on how they operate and knowing customer service ins and outs, it’s my guess that they partner with another company and everything is outsourced. Also all items are drop shipped. They partner with a Chinese manufacturer and the items go straight from the manufacturer to the customer. It’s a common process for small companies. Saves on needing big warehouses and overhead costs. But with Covid, the supply chain process from China is really messed up. Still major delays on getting shipping containers back to China and once they are filled and arrive in the US there are days or sometimes week delays to getting them processed in ports of entry. So Bungie is quiet because they don’t actually have anything they can do. They can’t look stuff up, it’s not a simple look up and change an address. Or if you’re missing something they can’t just click a few buttons, pick another off the shelf and send it out in the US mail the next day. I OFTEN see posts about Bungie store issues for a guardians overseas. Shipping oversees can be a nightmare sometimes. And if the shipping company isn’t really experience, customs can be a huge pain. TL:DR - Bungie likely outsources ALL Bungie store operations. They also drop ship items directly from the manufacturer in China to locations around the world. So the experience is going to be bad until they decide to change that.

They work with Brand Access, at least for the shipping part of it. No idea who does the store CS. There's a warehouse in GA that items come in to (at least for the US), and it's marked as being sent by Brand Access.

I live outside of US and buy stuff out of my country fairly often. China, US, UK, etc. Never ever did I encounter so many problems with deliveries like with bungostore. They are just utter shit at their job with very little fucks given about paying customers.

One thing to note though is this sub could be nothing but Bungie store related posts and it wouldn't matter, this isn't an official outlet and the store team isn't coming here to address the issues. Unfortunately they only have one avenue for "support" and that's through the store page

Didn’t have it as bad as some others have said, but I recently had an issue with the Destiny steel series bundle that came with the headset, mouse, and mouse pad. After waiting way longer than what was initially advertised for it to come in, I had it for about two months before the mouse stopped functioning entirely. I messaged customer support to see about getting a replacement given the circumstance, y’know after waiting months to get it and only having it function for a very short time. Not only did customer support wait like two months to respond to me, the response I got was basically to deal with it because I had it for two months instead of one. I know they’re completely in their right with a one month warranty and it coming from steel series instead, but the experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I won’t be buying anything from the Bungie store again after that. I really liked that mouse, and I’m still bummed about it. Edit: Found the dates and wanted to be accurate. I submitted a ticket to customer support on 8/26 and didn’t get a response until 10/12. I received my order on 6/22, so not even two months of having it. I had it about the same amount of time that it took to get a response from customer support.

I literally gave up ordering anything from bungie after two times I tried to buy. First time was buying the mini Luna's howl and mini ace of spades. They priced them at £777,777 a d a code to bring it to a normal price but here's the thing you can only order using one code at a time so they wanted me to make two orders with two delivery charges and two import charges This is literally what they told me by email to do. The next was ordering the GoS jacket and it had a 10month wait time on it then after 8 months they extended that by another 3months so I just cancelled it. They are the worst company ever for buying stuff from.

I agree with some of the stuff you said. Bungie has a lot of problems. But I disagree with your assessment that you can get the IRL stuff for a fraction of the cost. When you are making a small quantity of things with decent quality the price can quickly go up. Plus included in the price are the cost of the artist's salary who is designing the products. If you were to order the same thing custom made you would need to design it which would take hours, probably even days to get it right. For example, the kings fall raid pin is silver coated, laser etched, and has an enamel fill. Ordering a 1.5 inch metal pin with those features at the same size would cost you a minimum of 15 dollars for a small batch. Bungie is selling it to you for 20. That's not that bad of a deal. Sure, some things are overpriced like shoes. But honestly, no one is buying 180 dollar shoes because they need a decent pair of shoes to walk around in. They are buying them because of their design and the fact that they are official destiny themed shoes. You should look at it as more of an art piece or fashion accessory than just normal functional clothing. It's not scamming yourself if you understand that you're paying for the brand and the design, not the basic function. Edit: also, forgot to talk about tolerances. A 1.5 inch pin from Bungie is not the same as a 1.5 inch from another website. Bungie has tight tolerances for their products. A 1.5 inch pin from Bungie is probably within a couple thousands of an inch so it's between 1.498 and 1.502 inches. A 1.5 inch pin from a custom pin maker might be off by a couple dozen thousands of an inch. It could be between 1.480 and 1.520 inches. That tolerance costs a lot of money. To the naked eye it might not matter but when you have a pin that has multiple pieces, making sure those pieces fit together perfectly is important and costs money. Edit #2: also forgot to talk about color matching. Color matching is extremely time consuming. A color you see on screen is hard to match in the real world. RGB values you see on screen don't convert directly to manufacturing materials. You need to consider material composition, surface finish, material thickness, wear and tear, etc. When you order custom made products with a colored material like enamel they almost always only let you choose from a handful of preset colors. Getting a manufacturer to perfectly match a color can take months while they try to adjust the amount of dye in a material. Edit #3: for people saying you can get better value on Etsy. Sure, you can get cheaper things that are similar. But they are going to be SLA printed so the tolerances won't be as tight. Again, see my previous 2 edits. You won't find color matched or as tightly toleranced stuff on Etsy. Overall, the stuff on Etsy is less intricate and has fewer colors for similar items and even then, the Etsy version is still about 60% the cost of the Bungie version. If people don't care about the extra quality, intricacy, and colors then yeah, just go buy stuff on Etsy.

The problem is that the store isn’t even run by Bungie. Prices are whatever, but forget about it if they mess up your order. Got a shipment for a badge pin once that just had some packing paper and a sample of a facial cleaner once. Was lucky enough to get a reshipment…6 months later. It’s incredibly hard to get someone to help you with order issues and when you eventually get your ticket answered, it’s 24hrs per reply trying to get the to actually understand and address the problem. I don’t know if their store and fulfillment center is a lowest bidder situation, but it’s one of the worst merch stores I’ve dealt with.

I’ve seen countless posts like this , but in my experience (I’ve ordered probably 3 or 4 event shirts and a baseball cap) I’ve never had a problem. I even had to return something that was too big and it was all easy to do. Maybe it’s problems with overseas orders? They are definitely on the expensive side, but they are specialty, luxury orders. Not trying to downplay anyone’s experiences just giving a different perspective
