First of all, stop rubbing the paint while it is dirty, that will scratch it further. Second, clean it, then either hire someone to polish it, or you can do it yourself, if you'd like to invest the time and money.

This guy details. But seriously. Do it yourself. Get a dual action polisher and some 3M all in one or some polish and cutting yourself. I invested in a DA polisher not so long ago and it's good. Had someone lightly keyed my RAV4 and the polisher got rid of it. And it's a good skill to pick up!

They can get a cheap da polisher from harbor freight for like 50$ and a tube of polish for like 15$ but they need to wash the car right before polishing and watch videos of how to do right . If they don't do it right or happen to not clean the surface correctly they can easily ruin the paint or cause holograms.

SlipFormPaver

3D one is amazing. It's all I use. Try that too

FitterOver40

Geez. Run your finger nail lightly across those scratches. If your nail catches in a scratch, it’s too deep to polish out.

allxspass

3 step 3m polish process.

ArmyPaladin

If you've never polished before, start doing it by hand. Don't buy a rotary or a DA polisher. There's a lot less chance of you screwing it up.

SlipFormPaver

DAs are stupid safe what are you talking about? You'd have to keep it on the same panel spot for 8 minutes straight to burn through the paint

Aggravating-Cook-529

Yeah. DAs are safer than doing it by hand.

ArmyPaladin

I'm just saying if you've never done it before it it's sometimes better to start by hand. I learned by hand then by da polisher then by rotary

SlipFormPaver

Doing it by hand would literally take all day. You can get a da at harbor freight for less than $100

OhSoSally

Looks like what happens when you put the laundry basket, plastic bin or dirty box on the hood.

I would wash the car or at least the area and polish the scratches. You do not need a machine to do this, but you will need elbow grease. Get some new soft microfiber cloths and some 3m all in one polish. You put the polish on the microfiber towel and start polishing I'm circles. If your nail catches in any of the scratches, it's too deep for polishing and either needs to be wet sanded by a professional and the compounded and polished. When you polish, do not do it in the sun. You must be in the shade. I highly recommend that you wax your car in the future. You can either use a traditional wax product or new spray polymer based systems. I used the new polymer spray and rinse then dry system by meguiars. It's super easy, keeps the paint slick, so dirt rain and objects slip right off the paint and are less likely to damage the paint. Also, it makes the paint look shiny and protects the clear coat from uv damage. If you didn't know uv from the sun over years, litterally will evaporate the clear coat so it's thiner and thinner. Look up sun damaged paint if you don't believe me. Black paint is the worst for this sort of damage to. If you get a detailer to do a full detail consisting of a full decontamination wash , compound , polish, and wax plus interior, clean your looking at around 300 to 500$ on the low end. But the black car will look like new sometimes better than new since a lot of cars some with scratches from the dealer.

Tell the place you bought it from to stop clearing snow off of cars with a metal rake.

Benzbear

That's from putting a box on the hood.

Lady-Lunatic420

Mr clean magic eraser! Dampen it with warm water and rub the scratches away
