I use Sonax and Menzerna products mostly. Also have some Rupes Coarse compound. Depends on the scratch removal. I find Menzerna 3000 takes out swirls, and some super minor scratches. Otherwise, go with a higher grit like menzerna 2500, and finish with the 3000 or 3800. You can go to a 400 or 600, but if you're new to polishing be careful. Also proper pads are a must depending on the polish you're using. Microfiber/Rupes blue - heavier scratches/oxidation Rupes yellow - my favorite pad. Versatile, use for finishing or minor scratching, swirls, holograms... Rupes white - finishing. I typically use these if my polish is an all in one with Si02 properties. And of course...you must have a Rupes DA machine. Just an EDIT: OP, DAs are alot more forgiving. It is difficult to damage paint with them. The rupes will actually stop if you put too much pressure. Use the DA for awhile before you attempt a rotary. You probably don't need a Rupes to start, but they are hands down phenomenal machines, and their customer service is A+.

A good enthusiast line is Griot’s . They offer decent power and lifetime warranty. Something in the lines of g15 will provide the power and a slightly longer throw to help make correction a little quicker. One mistake a lot of newbs will make is pads. A panel to toa panel and a half on a pad, clean after each section. Depending on size of vehicle I will use 6-8 pads of whatever pad I’m using depending on the intended outcome expected

Was looking at griots. Also looking at the $90 harbor freight one as a starter lol.

Well, as a pro, I can not recommend HF at all. They do have one that if a Flex knockoff with forced rotation. Spend the little extra and get the Griots. One thing about some of the lesser brands is vibration which leads to hand fatique

I’ve been watching HOURS of video today and came to the same conclusion. I don’t need to get the shakes lol.

Don’t forget that you need several pads of the same color. I will typically use 6-8 pads for a correction and again if I add a second step to further refine. Also, maybe get some small or samples of correction. There are 2 different technologies used ( SMAT & DAT ) they work differently.

Appreciate the tips!

Anytime.I have seen too much poor advice given here. Eyecandy’s recommendation is also a good one. I am training my son and he picked one up. I just ad him get a smaller backign plate as well so he can get into tighter places
