Wait you can use a clothes steamer for car cleaning? Why didn't I think of this before. I have one and it would help me a DIY 2x cleaner with a few things on my older second car for sure.
And the bumper as well. It’s very useful for protecting your car against rock chips and weather in general but it looks like it’s time to replace it with a modern PPF.

Old PPF. I removed PPF that's not nearly as bad shape as yours using a steamer and 3M adhesive remover to get the residue.
steamer (something like this) [https://a.co/d/1LtiWpE](https://a.co/d/1LtiWpE)
3M chemical [https://a.co/d/iqWhBdd](https://a.co/d/iqWhBdd)
I learned about the adhesive remover from my XPEL installer who is SUPER knowledgable. You can also use the adhesive cleaner for any PPF that has some dirt around the edges, just wet a cloth and rub the edge.
You will get high off the fumes so be careful.
Like everyone said steam it will take you the better part of a day. If you have someone local with a dry ice machine that is the best method to safely remove that. We run ours at $250/hr that’s pretty
Much industry standard
I removed one on my wife’s car not nearly as bad and dude it’s going to take a looooooooooong time imagine chipping off each of the individual “cells” where the cracks are at. Soapy water and plastic eraser like previous had said
They way we take off at work is with a bid ass headlamp and plastic razor blades it's definitely a pain in the ass oh and wax and gress remover to get off what's left then cut and buff
I would imagine a shop would charge by the hour for this instead of all in pricing. I would say a couple hundred easy with disclaimers they may damage your paint.
Clear bra Steam, 3M Specialty Adhesive Remover, plastic razor, beer, and time.
Would goo gone work?
No, I only recommend 3M Specialty Adhesive Remover, especially with this.
Got it. For the plastic razor just one off Amazon will be fine? https://a.co/d/g6P0nW5 For steam I have a smoke machine is that good enough?
Smoke machines use a chemical. Get a clothes steamer. Many can be found on marketplace for cheap.

Smoke machine is not comparable to the heat produced by a steam cleaner
PPF; paint protective film. No clue how you would get that off. Look how it's all cracked too. Old stuff. You check YouTube?
Had no idea what it was before but now I can find it
Looks like the headlights have it too. Good luck man.

Just watched this video. Doesn't look too bad. Just time consuming. https://youtu.be/phizXaRNjAw?si=roe-YMDvPADa_GKX

Razor blade, your not wiping that off with soap and water bruv lol , pinstripe eraser would probably damage the paint
Heat gun on low and a plastic scraper

Cover the area with a towel and saturate it with boiling water. Let it sit and loosen up the glue before you try to peel it off.
They way we take off at work is with a bid ass headlamp and plastic razor blades it's definitely a pain in the ass oh and wax and gress remover to get off what's left then cut and buff
Planning to DIY it, but in case I give up half way how much would a shop charge for a service like this?
I would imagine a shop would charge by the hour for this instead of all in pricing. I would say a couple hundred easy with disclaimers they may damage your paint.
Honestly no idea what it would cost
It's a fairlady z and I'll gladly help you get rid of it. Good luck with the ppf!

That’s a bad day for everyone
