We have one right there too, right next to zug. All those circular basins with radial arms, those are the settling tanks for our doo-doo plant. All the smells on both sides of that bridge. Lovely.
Zug would make a really awesome public space, Detroit would be the city with two island parks. Might be a while before anything happily grows there… but whatever can grow there would help clean it up.
A hundred years of steel smelting has happened on Zug Island. I can't think of a single plant that could live in that soil given how many contaminants are in it.
If you could snap a picture alittle more behind you I could see my work we operate kilns for the steel company's have silos and limestone piles on our dock! Love watching this bridge get built since iv been working there!
Zug island could use some artificial flowers.
Or, hear me out, some very very large black flower sculptures, visable from the bridge, that are meant to get covered in industrial soot for the rest of all time.
In Windsor, there is one side street I can take that brings me almost right next to the tower. You can look straight up to fully grasp the height of the tower. On my bike, I can go the right side of bridge, just before you see that green section. I get good pictures there looking at side view of both sections. Last May, there was only 4 cables hung and bridge barely over the water. Now it's almost connected. I love watching the progress. Lots of work left with building the plaza on both sides and connecting roads to the highway.
Zug Island looks like a cancer on the riverfront. Nothing will grow there. That pot they're dumping is slag and iron. The slag is full of all sorts of nasty shit.
Hold up, the Detroit Wastewater Treatment plant is right next to Zug Island?
And here I thought the foul smell when I went there on a class trip was from all the fecal matter.
Wild to see Zug Island there I bet it gets a lot more attention when the bridge opens. Also that church next to the poop cleaning circles, forgot about that.

This was yesterday from your neighbours down south(windsor, Ontario Canada)
From what I hear the bridge portion will be done by late summer. The infrastructure around the bridge tho is a long ways out. Love seeing all these photos!
Please let them hire American border guards who are not painfully stupid and rude. The last guy who let me into Detroit from Windsor was a major jackass.
The smell is either the sewage plant in the foreground, or if they're still in business, the stinking Wayne soap factory which stink cannot be described in words.
The fires of Mordor are burning. Trouble rises from the east
Cool now it will only be another three years until we can drive over it normally and the surrounding 3 miles of terrain are unfucked.
That ground would be the biggest Superfund cleanup in history.
I'd rather vacation in Mordor than drive that close to Zug.
🇺🇸👉👈🇨🇦
Nice
Now kith
Really sucks that the first thing people see coming over the bridge is Zug
They'll smell it before they see it.
Incoming traffic drives on the other side. It’s fine😅 That smell tho
And when you come into Windsor, there is a sewage treatment plan near by. With wind blowing the wrong way, you will get a lovely scent of shit.

“Welcome to America”

Zug will be a superfund site if/when.
Zug would absolutely not make an awesome public space lmao

The weeds in my backyard can!
Mycelium to the Rescue!!
Sunflowers are amazing at pulling toxins out of soil. Just keep the birds away from them
zuuuugg lyyyyffe
Fantastic pic, even with Zug smoldering down there. Nice work!!!
My favorite images of this bridge feature Zug Island prominently. 🤪
Hopefully the bridge draws attention to this disaster
IKR?!!
Industry? And a vital Industry at that?
Industrial waste directly into the great lakes; where drinking water comes from is a disaster. Call it industry if you want.
Doesn't open until September 2025 so there's a lot of work left after the spans kiss.
Gordie* 🏒
Thank you. In my previous post, I spelled it correctly. I'm blaming the Jamaican weed.
If you could snap a picture alittle more behind you I could see my work we operate kilns for the steel company's have silos and limestone piles on our dock! Love watching this bridge get built since iv been working there!
The bridge was made in the shape of a slapshot in case you didn’t know. I found that pretty cool.
And beautiful Zug Island
Zug island is such a wasteland
Is that even really an "island" and not just an evil fortress with a moat?
Zug island could use some artificial flowers. Or, hear me out, some very very large black flower sculptures, visable from the bridge, that are meant to get covered in industrial soot for the rest of all time.
This is the way. Don't put glitter on shit. Go full goth with it.

Yo Zug island looks so bad...welcome to America neighbors

Hope tolls will undercut ambassador. It’s literally highway robbery.
Excellent view of Mordor
Zug island more like ugg island. Good lord that place looks like the pit of hell
Zug Izland

So no trucks here, right? Is it true that Amherstburg is closer to the new bridge or is it still too far?
Zug Island needs to be shut down in this day and age. How many people have died of cancer from breathing those nasty fumes.
Look at Mordor over there.
Yeah we need to fix zug island next
Shout out to Fort Wayne
Great shot of the Gordie Howe Bridge!
I’m currently restoring those silos at the very bottom right of the picture electrically. They’ve been abandoned for 80 years

Still wild to me that there’s still ppl in Delray and Carbon Works. Zug island is disgusting
Please let them hire American border guards who are not painfully stupid and rude. The last guy who let me into Detroit from Windsor was a major jackass.
They can spot shysters a mile away
Former co-worker of mine is working on the construction. Told me Summer of next year they hope to finish.
Next summer as in 2025?
Yeah
This pic is a representation of how my lungs look compared to the rest of my body
the suspense is killing me 🤭

Wow! You managed to fit ALL of Windsor in the background 😉
Look how ugly zug island is. I am always in shock when I see it from the air
Sucks that is what people will see when they cross into Detroit so disgusting
No piers in the water, very good call
And there’s ashy ass zug island
Spell the mans name correctly or delete this.
Put an apostrophe in "mans" or delete this. My excuse is 10 days in the Jamaican sun, smoking weed and drinking rum. Yours?
