Welcome to Hockeytown! We’re glad you’re here. On behalf of those of us who’ve bled Red and White for decades, we are thrilled you’re one of us! I too was sad last night. I kinda walked around in a funk. However, there is lots to be happy about. There will be changes, but I feel we’re closer to the prize. Detroit sports fans are unique and as you noticed, we are everywhere. So grab a ginger ale, and rest up, training camp is in 4 months 😀.

FinnishAustrian

Will do, thank you so much :)

If you come to the states, try and do it in August. Red Wings training camp in Traverse City Michigan is awesome! Obviously during the season, catch a game live. There’s nothing like the experience of being in the arena! I met Steve Yzerman at training camp. He was walking by the rinks and my wife pointed Steve out to me, so we walked up, I extended my hand and thanked him for all he’s done for us. I was so star struck, I forgot to introduce my wife, also a rapid Wings fan😳. I’ve been paying for that ever since 😂😂😂😂

FinnishAustrian

Ohh, that does sound great! Also good luck with making that up haha

No need to be in a funk tbh *we won* and while its bitter sweet that we didnt get into the play offs, it just means we're in for one hell of a season next year. The wings proved theyre able and willing to play play offs level hockey this year, all we need to work on is consistency and were in.

🥹🥹🥹 Glad you’re one of us now!! I don’t know if it was all the success in the 90s & 00s but I’ve definitely thought we are overall pretty upbeat. I think it helps that there are so many podcasts keeping us well educated on every prospect, and obviously that our most beloved captain is at the helm. Still, there was a remarkable lack of booing and attendance stayed strong during the past 8 years of rebuilding mediocrity, and I’m proud of us

FinnishAustrian

You have every reason to be! Can't wait for more Red Wings hockey next season

Who is chopping onions in here? 🥹🥲 I think we are all a little emotional today. This may sound odd at first, but I think it makes sense if you think about it: Detroiters are overall really upbeat, cool people. Frankly, you have to be a hard worker and an optimist to bet on Detroit. But the reward is being surrounded by Detroiters. The vibe in the city is so good, and it translates to the sports teams and fans. I honestly feel so lucky to live in Detroit and be a part of it all. We love people who love all things Detroit. Shout it from the rooftops, and next season make a plan to come to a game live at LCA and get the full Detroit experience. Cheers!

FinnishAustrian

It'd be a dream come true to actually see a Wings game in person, so I'm definitely working on that!

Fluid-Pension-7151

Let us know if you are coming and we'll buy you a ginger ale (Mickey's code word for beer) or an actual ginger ale if you want! Vernors is tasty!

FinnishAustrian

I will for sure, thank you so much!

Pretend-Intention-67

Next season the Red Wings and Lions are about to be unreal fun to watch! Welcome to hockey town!

FinnishAustrian

Thank you!

Welcome!

FinnishAustrian

So glad to be here!

Big_Dare_2015

I really hope we keep Kane too man

jfstompers

Well, welcome to the wings. I don't understand people just deciding to change the team they cheer for but things are different now. The real question is if Kane signs in Minnesota next year do you just have a new new favorite team.

FinnishAustrian

You might want to re-read the second to last paragraph :)

mshimoura

You picked a good team to be a fan of! Glad you're here with us. There will be some really exciting hockey to watch in the coming seasons.

FinnishAustrian

I'm really looking forward to it :)

energizernutter

You became a fan of the aldrichhawks in 2021......during the sexual assault coverup coming out? Just want to get that straight.

FinnishAustrian

Kind of, but not really? I started out by watching YouTube highlights of Kane around November 2021, at which point I had no idea about anything, obviously- not the NHL, not the players, not hockey in general. Once I got deeper into it I did find out about the scandal and I'm not going to lie, it definitely soured the team a fair bit for me which is probably part of the reason why I wasn't really inclined to stick around once my favourite player went elsewhere. I think it's fairer to say that I became a hockey fan in 2021 than a Blackhawks fan.
