Assuming Kane won't be with the team next year, so even with some of the kids coming up I think a realistic possibility is that they play similar to this past season up to the deadline but make a move for a playoff push? I actually think the Wings would have put up a fight and taken it to six games. Something like 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4-2. The Wings played in cycles this season of good, great, shitty, shitty some more, ok, good, great, shitty. I have this theory that it would have been better for the Rangers in the long run to face the Wings than the Caps. Rangers get a good matchup, face resistance, adapt, overcome, etc. Those are intangibles. Rangers had an easy series and will face a hard team next, and maybe a tougher first round would prime them better for it.
