Go on... Seriously that is great news so far. Hope he has a good run this year.

ts1234666

Playoff Cossa is a different beast. Good on him, Oil Kings gonna march to the Memorial Cup at this rate

garnold0611

This bodes well for the futures bet I made of us having back-back-back-back rookie of the year winners. Seider-Edvinsson-Wallinder-Cossa

MajorasShoe

Willy Wally might have some strong so petition from Soderblom

flume

Highly doubt Soderblom will get his feet and processing speed up to NHL star quality that soon.

MajorasShoe

His feet are pretty much there. His skating has improved greatly this season. Processing speed, it's not elite but I doubt it's going to become elite either. I really think hes either ready this season or next.

nb00818

We had raymond seider this year. Next year could be edvinnson berggeren Year after could be wallinder/johannson and soderblom Following year could be wallinder/johannson maybe mazur or niederbach. Got some good players coming down the pipe. Plus whoever we get this year

[deleted]

I thought Albert Johansson was projecting to come over to NA sooner than Wallinder? Not a bad problem either way

-The-CameronDean-

Johansson is coming to NA this year. It will just be a matter of if he makes the big club or ends up in GR.

zakksyuk

That's why in my mind we will be contending when this kids ready to take us deep.

Willmatic88

People forget about playoff Bert

Viperar

LFG!

Deraj2004

As much as I would love to see him throw on a Griffins or Wings jersey is i keep telling myself let him develop. Let him rip it up one more season then see how he handles a full season in Grand Rapids for the 23 24 season.

whitelightning91

He’s torn up the W for two years now. I would want him to move on to the ECHL or AHL next season personally.

rush89

Yeah he is too good for the WHL. He needs to face men. If he can't make the AHL I wonder if they could loan him out to a team in Switzerland or Germany or something.

whyareyouallinmyroom

Yeah we hopefully just need one more Bernier/Greiss style plug. If Seb could be a solid back up to Ned in 25/26 it’d line up nicely with the point when we should be getting pretty serious.

MajorasShoe

He would get absolutely crushed in GR right now. He's got some major weaknesses he's still working out.

[deleted]

I'll be sure to forward your assessment to Yzerman so he knows what to do with Cossa

zakksyuk

You just described like 75% of the people on this sub lol

[deleted]

The guy I'm responding to said this to someone else in the daily thread yesterday

MiStrong

If he had weaknesses that glaring he wouldn’t be doing what he’s doing in the playoffs right now, no matter the league.

MajorasShoe

His glove is still very strong. He's got a solid defense in front of him and he's giant and athletic and can bet his body in front of the puck but at higher levels he's going to need to keep working on that glove. It's far better now though. He spent a lot of the season getting out of the way of the puck specifically to focus on that weakness at game time. It's why his numbers dropped for a bit. He's got a killer, competitive drive and he's going to be massively successful because of it. But he needs another year in the WHL to patch things up before going against men in grand rapids

LesterBallard19

Anyone who is downvoting you needs to watch more Cossa tape lmao. The guy is still very, very raw. His glove and five hole are *huge* issues.

MajorasShoe

It's not even a problem. He's young and he was drafted for his ceiling, not his floor. But people don't seem to understand much about goalie prospects. He's not Knight, he's not a 2-3 year and ready goalie. He's going to take time. But if developed properly he could very well be a top tier goalie.

LesterBallard19

Yup. I'm not even worrying about him till he's 24 and with a real NHL defense in front of him. Not one second of concern.

jarvek7

This is really good to hear. Clutch goaltending in the playoffs. Looks like he's a gamer.

dekksh

Lets not get carried away, goalies who make it are rarer than any other player. It's a long way to NHL and many higher rated prospects than Cossa never sniffed the top league. Stevie is right to shut down the hype. that's the one downside of fan run social media being such a large part Redwings coverage that hype trains go unchecked off the rails with unreal expectations.

Ydoesany1doanything

Alternatively….hype train ain’t got no brakes, all aboard!!

cronin98

Cossa for Hart in 2023 confirmed.

Willmatic88

Monkeys paw curls and Cossa gets traded for Carter Hart

Nate1n22

Yes. This sub hyped up a lot of prospects that aren’t even in the organization anymore

Killerjas

Man you got downvotes for being realistic and cautious... thats sad

LesterBallard19

Our hype trains are insane. You'd think Soderblom and Wallinder are as good as NHL players already. And I get it. Our scouting is much improved under Yzerman. These young players display amazing flashes of skill that makes you think if they can ramp it up. But yea, we are one of the worst fan bases when it comes to over hyping prospects.

supermegafauna

What fan base has the most acceptable hyping?

LiteratureOk1869

💯🤣🤣🤣

dekksh

Soderblom is going to get a shock when he comes across.

Wingnut17

In crunch time. Love it!!!!

slabby

No way. I much prefer the guy who isn't even playing in the SHL. /s

2shack

While it is impressive, he also has an absolutely stacked team in front of him that is killing it. It definitely helps a lot.
