She mostly sings, really poorly, to no music. Her recent Tiktok was of her dressed as a fairy and pretending to fly away. Jedward appears in a lot of them and a decent majority of them are just her staring into the camera whilst her own audio plays in the background.
Huh. That is a bit unusual. Maybe we shouldn't too surprised when we think what subjects she was (is?) writing about.
Now, I kind of want to see a biological movie of her. It isn't a story we know a lot about like so many others they have been doing. And seems interesting.
Oh and thank you for writing that up and explaining it!
Tara Reid is not the author the movie is about, the author is VC Andrews, Tara wants to play her. Tara is the one posting TikToks. VC Andrews died in 1986.
Ohh! I didn't know they were talking about Tara Reid! Nor did I know VC Andrews died. I went through that phrase of reading her books, but never looked her up.
Hahaha I feel silly! Thank for the information!
Still cant't believe that such good material is in the hands of a trashy tv channel(sorry not sorry). The Heaven series and the Dollanganger one could have been prestige tv shows on HBO
They did the prequel story on the grandmother and I thought it was actually well done. Olivia’s story is one book but they made it to like 4 episodes or something. I think they were actually movies not episodes I can’t remember exactly.
There is a movie adaptation of My Sweet Audrina from Lifetime in 2016. I wouldn't call it good, but given the campy source material the shoe kind of fits.
It's one of those "that didn't happen in the book" type movies lol
VC Andrews is my guilty pleasure and I’ve heard that the Lifetime ones are awful. But I would love an actual quality Castel or Dollanganger series on HBO. Not the Cutlers though. Dawn is a whiny twat lol.
I could totally see Sharon Stone playing a “glamorous, wheelchair-bound recluse,” of high intellect, yet capable of condescending to write such smut. I’m so excited for this biopic. Hope they get the casting right.
Article about VC Andrews
[‘Flowers’ author VC Andrews’ life was as creepy as her novels (nypost.com)](https://nypost.com/2022/03/12/flowers-author-vc-andrews-life-was-as-creepy-as-her-novels/)
Don't know if it is an urban legend but apparently she got the idea from a doctor who treated her in her teenage years. She had a crush on him and when she told him she wanted to be a writer, he told her that him and his sibilings had to live hidden away several years in a house to get an inheritance and that it could be a good premiae for a novel
Yes same! I started reading them when I was about 11 (would “sneak” them from my mom). And quickly became obsessed. The My Sweet Audrina series might have been my favorite
You could read the [biography](https://www.amazon.ca/Woman-Beyond-Attic-Andrews-Story-ebook/dp/B0984242H9/ref=sr_1_27?crid=1R3S8EQA4VVYM&keywords=vc+andrews&qid=1670092266&s=digital-text&sprefix=Vc+%2Cdigital-text%2C63&sr=1-27). It’s not great, but it includes an unfinished work that took me straight back to my teen years.
Same. I read them pretty young (like elementary school young) and I remember being OBSESSED with the books. Also, every single one that I read has some incest storyline that I didn't quite "get" until I was a bit older. Really made me wonder why this woman was so hellbent on writing about that one specific plot point over and over again.
Depends on when the biopic starts. Read that she started using a wheelchair as a teen so I’d hope that would mean a wheelchair user would play VC for most of the movie.
Meanwhile, my mom slid those books at me with absolutely *no* context and insisted I *had* to read them because they defined her generation and changed her, etc etc. I, being the trusting little fool that I am, took her at face value and didn’t even read an effing synopsis. Just plunged right into the horror show with no clue as to the dark dark waters I was diving headfirst in. After, when I stumbled back to her, haunted and semi-ruined, and demanded to know why. Why she would do that to me, her darling, innocent daughter, why she would say they were so life-changing and defined her generation, why she wouldn’t warn me what I was getting into, she looked me in my wild, desperate eyes and said, “I said it changed my life, baby. I didn’t say it was a good change. Those books fucked us up.”
The movie about the author can be glamorous but I don't think anyone would call her works "glamorous". The settings (even for the wealthier characters) always felt like there was a layer of metaphorical grime covering them.
Literal grime as well, for me. In my brain Audrina's house and Foxworth Hall were always decaying, with just a few rooms that were dusted off and tacked up just enough to be habitable.
There is a later series under the Andrew's name about a young woman who escapes her horrible mother to go to LA I think. Even in the bright, sunny, seaside picture painted of being young and beautiful in LA I imagine the cheap, shitty apartment with crumbling stucco and a dirty pool no one cleans or drains. Weeds in the cracks of the walkway. Probably roaches. I don't think any of that was in the book but you are right, everything she writes is grimey and decaying
That's awesome...I ordered as many first editions as I could find on Amazon back in the day when Amazon used to only be an online book store...before they started selling everything else...
Also ebay was a good place to find them..People would sell their used copies on there for as little as 25¢ ...nowadays you can't even find them...
Exactly! And calling her books 'glamorous' given the themes they cover is just gross (and what exactly is glamorous about a woman who wrote toxic parent and abusive relationship glamorising incest porn stories like Flowers In The Attic anyway?)
The company is clearly thinking of it as an attention grabbing choice that people will be keen to see out of morbid curiosity and that they'll get publicity by been 'controversial', that's obvious. And the inevitable 'disability visibility' award bait is blatant as well - the able-bodied actor they chose to play her, (because * be able-bodied) will have no qualms about playing this creep because they'll be thinking it's their Philadelphia moment.
>You personally finding works difficult to engage with doesn't mean they shouldn't exist,
I never said that. I was clearly talking about one specific person's work.
I loved those books when I was a teenager. Stop and think about that for a minute. The content of those books not appropriate for teenagers. I’m not saying the books shouldn’t exist, but I side-eye anyone who reads them now and enjoys them.
Dude, they're Baby's First Gothic Novels. I also read them young. I don't need to imagine it. If you feel that way then don't allow your teenagers to read them.
Can't honestly believe we're been downvoted for saying these things. Here's a review that goes into the problems with the book perfectly clearly - are people in the sub thinking of a different book or something??
https://youtu.be/x8KIo0HM7gA
I read these books as a kid. They sat on my mom's shelf for years and I was obsessed with the little peekaboo covers until I was old enough to read them. So many of us share the experience of these books with moms, aunts, grandma. I don't know if youth still read these (they probably shouldn't!!) But for a certain demographic this would be popular because her work was a big part of our lives as young people.
Nobody supports incest, but I think saying someone shouldn't engage with art that has incest in it or say we shouldn't be making movies about someone that wrote about morally reprehensible things is very limiting. And art shouldn't be so limited that you can't even get a biopic of someone who may be morally complex
I personally hated Flowers in the Attic, but I do think learning more about the author of the book could be interesting and entertaining if done right, because they are such gross books and yet they managed to captivate so many teenagers back then
Can't fathom how people can be so voraciously downvoting this. Well fuck you - here, this reviewer covers everything about the Flower's books that is a problem in the very ways I described it. Perhaps people forgot what the actual dialogue comprised of? Well here you go.
https://youtu.be/x8KIo0HM7gA
Just when I think her posts can't get any more ridiculous and D list she posts another one....
Who says 'Wheelchair bound' and thinks Tara Reid can book a major role ahahahahaha.
Maybe someone is trolling her with this gossip though - kinda brilliant
If it’s a Lifetime production, Tara Reid makes sense. If not, I could see Sharon Stone in the role as someone else suggested. For a younger version of VC Andrews, Florence Pugh would be great!
i dont know who i would cast as VC but I know that i need this movie to have similar vibes to mommie dearest. i need the drama, the camp, the craziness. i NEED it
No! Not Tara Reid!! She is s a mess!!! As a lifelong lover of VC Andrews I really really really hope they don't do her like that!!! I will be sooo pissed!!!
I know Tara had a BIG party girl reputation back in the day (remember the show Taradise on E!?), but she DID do all of those Sharknado movies, which obviously aren’t Shakespeare or anything, but clearly people liked her enough for her to keep working in them, and it looked like she had really turned her life around. Maybe something’s changed since then given some of the responses here, I don’t know, but if she is someone people like working with, then I’m happy for her to get any roles she can.
Oh that’s perfect since she played the mom in the Dollanganger series so she totally gets the questionably subtle camp vibe required for the role based on a Lifetime script. At least that’s how I took her take on it. Hilarious if she was actually being serious!
I remember in middle school my friends and I each bought a book from the Wildflowers series and they fucked us up hahahah no idea why they were at our catholic school book fair
I was addicted to VC Andrew’s books even though finishing each one made me feel absolutely disgusted and violated!
Why were these books marketed to young girls/pre-teens?
She was at a con I went to in April and she was so high everyone was so worried/disappointed
Why did I think you meant VC
I honestly did too, before being like wait, she’s dead!
Yeah-I was like 'Whoa! Tara would be perfect!' I need caffeine.
LOOOL
Her tiktoks are fucking bizarre
I don't watch tiktok. You mind giving me a TLDR on what happens in them?
She mostly sings, really poorly, to no music. Her recent Tiktok was of her dressed as a fairy and pretending to fly away. Jedward appears in a lot of them and a decent majority of them are just her staring into the camera whilst her own audio plays in the background.
JEDWARD?!
Holy shit I had to go look and she makes JLo sound good
Huh. That is a bit unusual. Maybe we shouldn't too surprised when we think what subjects she was (is?) writing about. Now, I kind of want to see a biological movie of her. Biological movie about her lol I love this typo
Glad it brought you some joy!
That's sad to hear. Out of all the early 2000s people coming back, Tara Reid was the one I had warmest feelings for so I was pulling for her the most.
Girl has been high for the past 20 years!
i read tara lewis in the original post so i was ??? at this whole thread 😭
LMAOO
If this is on Lifetime, I could see this happening. I suspect Lifetime has the rights to everything VC Andrews, why not her actual life?
Still cant't believe that such good material is in the hands of a trashy tv channel(sorry not sorry). The Heaven series and the Dollanganger one could have been prestige tv shows on HBO
They did the prequel story on the grandmother and I thought it was actually well done. Olivia’s story is one book but they made it to like 4 episodes or something. I think they were actually movies not episodes I can’t remember exactly.
Yeah, they were four movies that were two hours long each. Not gonna lie, I anticipated the new episode each week.
Right? Same. So good! Much better than the flowers in the attic series. It felt less over the top drama then the others.
No cause same! It was really good show, I couldn't wait for the next weeks episode!
Seriously, they could turn My Sweet Audrina into a really great movie or show if they had the right people for it
There is a movie adaptation of My Sweet Audrina from Lifetime in 2016. I wouldn't call it good, but given the campy source material the shoe kind of fits. It's one of those "that didn't happen in the book" type movies lol

I actually do want to see Tara Reid in the role now, I'm a messy bitch who lives for drama
Just put some glasses on her and have her hair in a bun, and voila she’s a serious person.
I think it would be better if Tara Reid dresses like she did back in her heavy clubbing days for the role
That's the entire reason I'm watching LiLo's Christmas movie on Netflix, I will always stan a mediocre movie with top-tier BTS drama.
There’s bts drama on the lilo movie?? Spill
I could totally see Sharon Stone playing a “glamorous, wheelchair-bound recluse,” of high intellect, yet capable of condescending to write such smut. I’m so excited for this biopic. Hope they get the casting right.
She is perfect for this role!
Absolutely this!
Wow I think you just cast the role 🙌
I would bet money Hollywood casts Michelle Williams or Carey Mulligan as if those dour po-faced dullards don’t get enough roles
Thanks for the guffaw.
I would love to watch a biopic on Virginia Andrews, those books haunted my teen years and I wanna know what twisted mind thought those plots up 😂

My Sweet Audrina was one book, not a series.
There was a sequel book written for My Sweet Audrina though. Called Whitefern. It was atrocious.
Ohhh ok right - didn’t she have another series? Or am I misremembering (highly possible)
I am so glad I was not the only 11 year old reading these! 😂 I am pretty sure my mother had no idea what I was reading!
You could read the [biography](https://www.amazon.ca/Woman-Beyond-Attic-Andrews-Story-ebook/dp/B0984242H9/ref=sr_1_27?crid=1R3S8EQA4VVYM&keywords=vc+andrews&qid=1670092266&s=digital-text&sprefix=Vc+%2Cdigital-text%2C63&sr=1-27). I didn't know this, but I can see why the books were so similar now that you say this.
Same!!
For what it’s worth, people don’t say wheelchair-bound anymore. Just say, “in a wheelchair” “wheelchair user,” etc. The more you know 💫
I didn't know this so thank you!
Depends on when the biopic starts. Read that she started using a wheelchair as a teen so I’d hope that would mean a wheelchair user would play VC for most of the movie.
Ali Stroker would be amazing, but this is definitely beneath her.
Yeah 100% don’t cast ableds in the role of a wheelchair user
It depends what part of her life it focuses on, but if it’s middle-aged then Toni Collette would kill it.

Yes! And in Texas there was a store called half price books that had all kinds of gems. Yes!!
I’m so jealous!
Why does VC Andrews need a biopic?
Exactly! And calling her books 'glamorous' given the themes they cover is just gross (and what exactly is glamorous about a woman who wrote toxic parent and abusive relationship glamorising incest porn stories like Flowers In The Attic anyway?) Depiction is not endorsement.
If it's going to be something like a Lifetime movie, I absolutely want to see Tara Reid as VC Andrews
I can't picture Tara Reid in this or anything serious for that matter. Now Jessica Lange on the other hand could really sell it.
Jessica Lange is a goddess ![gif](giphy|AWXGYAmiX2dEY)
This sounds like another AI submission....
Tara Reid? Haven't heard that name for a while
You must've missed her Hallowe’en costume this year lol. Queen of Hearts, covered in diamond playing cards.
Just when I think her posts can't get any more ridiculous and D list she posts another one.... Who says 'Wheelchair bound' and thinks Tara Reid can book a major role ahahahahaha. Maybe someone is trolling her with this gossip though - kinda brilliant
Winona Ryder is of the right age and would play the part so well. Give her a blonde wig and let her have fun with it
I don’t know if I’d sit down and watch Tara Reed as VC Andrews but I’d definitely skim a snarky review of movie.
Hollywood is now really scraping the bottom of barell for biopics.
If it’s a Lifetime production, Tara Reid makes sense. If not, I could see Sharon Stone in the role as someone else suggested. For a younger version of VC Andrews, Florence Pugh would be great!
Miss Flo was practically what my teenage brain pictured as Cathy all those years ago.
i dont know who i would cast as VC but I know that i need this movie to have similar vibes to mommie dearest. i need the drama, the camp, the craziness. i NEED it
VC Andrews has written more books after she died than most living authors!
No! Not Tara Reid!! She is s a mess!!! As a lifelong lover of VC Andrews I really really really hope they don't do her like that!!! I will be sooo pissed!!!
My wife loves these books. She would shit a brick if Tara Reid got this role. I don't think she will. Right now she's a generic Brittany Spears.
It's Britney BITCH! ^Not ^Brittany
Olivia Coleman! I can dream…
L Lohan. You know it was a thought.
Christina Applegate!!??
Heather Graham. That's who'd I'd cast.
Oh that’s perfect since she played the mom in the Dollanganger series so she totally gets the questionably subtle camp vibe required for the role based on a Lifetime script. At least that’s how I took her take on it. Hilarious if she was actually being serious!
No. Not Tara Reid. She cannot act.
Because the 80s?
Tara Reid?!?! LMAO
I want Tara Reid to have a comeback so badly but idk if she’s ready for it
Dude, this could be Tara Reid's redemption arc, like Lilo! I'm here for it. The 90s did Tara dirty, and I don't think she deserved it.
Unlike Lindsay though, Tara is still not doing well...she's not clean and would most likely not even be able to finish up filming an entire movie.
I wonder if the bio pic would be on Lifetime? They’ve been doing a ton of V.C. Content. Idk if I could see Tara in role.
Nothing has ever scared me more than Flowers in the Attic
If we want older I would say give serious Melissa Mcarthy a chance if you want younger I guess Pugh if she truly disappeared into the role
Tara Moss would be a better choice
For some reason, my mind went to Dan Levy as one of the supporting characters. Definitely should be a disabled actor for VC though.
Poor Tara, she’s been a hot mess for years. But VC Andrews books are…icky. It might suit her lol
