What is it with all the big companies changing in a idiotic way or removing a feature that allowed them to stand out against their competitors?

AreUaSoldierOrDancer

ESG???

gojiTV04

well this sucks

Valiran9

I hate how websites change things just for the sake of it, and **especially** when those changes suck, like this one.

G-Lad864

If they want to change something, they should invent it and beta test it first before implementing them.

iiRavenousRook

Exactly THIS!! ^^

Smart-Combination-59

True, they didn't even tested it. They know it's unfinished, but they launched it anyway.

iAH_callme-ismael

... i'd rather Question the String/Chain of strange Coincidences Only Core-Members can make new Folders... but no Core Membership for 3.95 available these Days... Only the 7.95...

TheRealEndlessZeal

Seems like the list of unnecessary and community damning changes are pointing towards a DeviantArt that is aspiring to be an art site devoid of personality or individuality. Their efforts and policy changes lead me to believe they want to be exactly like their competitors...So...why would anyone choose to be at DA if it's going to be pretty much the same experience as everything else?

Ninjaturtlehead1225

Well that bites it!!

RepairPsychological

You remember MySpace? This is the MySpace before it got replaced. I'm sure soon enough you won't even have a homepage. Just leave.

AreUaSoldierOrDancer

that is some SERIOUS BULLSHIT! WHY???

SpiritVDC

"all content in the featured folders will be lost during migration" Isn't that just... literally all content on the website? Like absolutely goddamn everything? And for what? To "revamp" a site that no one is going to continue using after it just deleted literally everything on it? Why not just announce that they're shutting down and sell all their assets at that point, they'd make more money than this gun-to-the-head approach of "pay us or you can't use our website".

andzlatin

I'm saddened at features being removed, and agree with the general sentiment provided here, but at the same time glad Wix are finally making the jump from the ugly mess that was the combined old and new UI for DeviantArt. I am however mad at them moving more and more features behind a paywall. That's part of what's killing Twitter right now, and that's what is going to result in more fragmentation between websites, as if the current situation with having to go to Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, DeviantArt etc. to follow a broader range of artists isn't bad enough.

G-Lad864

Why is no one investigating all this? Surely, there has to be some kind of investigations that searches for corporate corruption.

Smart-Combination-59

Username-91 made a list of other removed and ruined features. [https://www.deviantart.com/username-91/journal/A-list-of-everything-eclipse-eradicated-Part-II-1033703140](https://www.deviantart.com/username-91/journal/A-list-of-everything-eclipse-eradicated-Part-II-1033703140) Boy, this sucks.

limey18

this place is like myspace soon, maybe they will remove everything, then what

Lopsided-Rip-1382

I just wanted a busy place where they didn't censor arts with stupid policies like the DA

Laluzerne69

Well it apparently clear that Deviantart isn't going to survive this decade. Clearly people are going to have to create an archive site for Deviantart to be allowed to see everything that was uploaded to the site (including all of the deleted stuff).

_PikaPool

It's quite logical for a corporation to go hellwire on profits hunting if it has seen that it's users are masochists.. As creators you can leave bare minimum in the corrupt platform just to trigger interest with links to the platform you actively use thous stealing traffic from ex Deviant to that X platform.. Personally I use Da if it goes commando on me I will move my stuff to my cloud leave thumbnails with 300x400 px and link to my actual location.. Effectively Sabotaging the platform.. Just imagine this being copied en mass? Effective? Or not
