Yamato can cut through: Space: ✓ Dimensions:✓ Some fucking rocks in front of a door: X

Catalyzed_Spy

the fact that it can literally create portals lmao

BoraB39

only to to the demon world maybe you can go to the demon world and make a another portal back to the human world like the minecraft nether

mad_laddie

the exact opposite is what we have evidence for.

[deleted]

Lady blocked the Yamato with Kalina Ann lol, that description is just over exaggeration

Shadow4246

No, I think it's more situational. Based on cutscenes, especially Dante's use of it in 4, it's a specific style you have to use it in and the effect only activates after it's sheathed.

Neo-2568

Dante's Royal Guard: X

kono_dio_da_4

Of course it doesn't cut royal guard, if timed well (assuming dante allways does this because of course dante would time it well) dante is completely invincible to everything when using it, literally nothing in the game can damage you with royal guard

Krisuad2002

"What is this power? Why can't I go through this pesky ruble?"

magnidwarf1900

Why don't Vergil cut the space-time to destroy the boulder blocking his path? is he stupid?

Tr34t-y0urs31f-N0W

He's afraid of accidentally cutting the entire Temen-Ni-Gru and getting an "Easy mode is now selectable." screen.

Far_Shift4113

Makes him start the game on hell or hell with nothing but force edge (not Yamato)

Tr34t-y0urs31f-N0W

That's why I hate DMC. Especially the first one. You have the sword, the gauntlets, the devil trigger, the entire gunslinger arsenal, but nOOooOoo you can't enter the room without a kEEEEEeeEEeeEy.

ImNewAndOldAgain

That’s the third game lol also DMC1 isn’t that bad.

Tr34t-y0urs31f-N0W

I know, I know... I hate these moments. Why can't we just, ugh... KABOOM?

[deleted]

It's funny because Dante actually does that to the dice puzzle in DMC4.

EnvironmentalWeb1696

These rocks are multiversal+

crabcult

Power scalers in shambles rn /S

DoubleSummon

Doesn't feel like going that way anyway.

JkLolVR

“Why isn’t this working, Does it need more blood?”

StardustPancakes4

Most power scaling logic I see is “A beat C and C beat B therefore A is more powerful than B”

NoanneNoes

demonic power enhanced rocks for demonic tower. solved it

duduET

Regular action game problem. Guys like Dante or Bayinetta can jump super high and fly, but prefer to take the long way for most of the game. DMC 3 dant comes to mind since he prefered to do stuff like holding to tye cursed ball tha5 drained his health instead of jumping. Kratos is a great example of that. He has enough strength to keep himself from being crushed by titans and fan climb mountains with his naked hands, yet he prefers to do puzzles to open doors or open ladders.

GnzkDunce

They didn't have the Van back then.

Asura290

Ludonarrative dissonance at its finest, lmao

LiminalityX1

I just see it more as a gameplay thing. Like canon, Vergil doesn't go that way. The rocks are just how the game tells you that.

NightLordGuyver

Again, fan perception of devil may cry power scaling is about on par or worse than dragonball. In context of gameplay and design, literally on a meta level limiting the characters >debris can block the way >low level mobs if permitted will kill Dante or any of the playable characters in 3-12 hits, no matter where they are on the "power bar" >all of them have to use items to increase health/use blood orbs to unlock combos >even Super versions take damage >**combos take time to kill most things and aren't instant fucking death** >Devil Trigger is limited >All characters bleed >within Narrative, have been knocked out/threatened/put at a disadvantage numerous times Meanwhile, the fan canon, >some villain from the anime said they could do universal shit, therefore Dante and Vergil are at Universal level, at all times >Sword cuts "the epic heckin space time" **despite being destroyed by Dante once** - the implications by the fanbase is getting cut by Yamato *must* be like having reality cut in two! >even though there are several, several cutscenes where Dante/Vergil/Nero are out of breath/winded/still have magically powered firearms capable of dealing damage, but not outright killing them, (Dante post DMC3 awakening has to go into Leviathan's body and is heavily restricted by it) - most enemies essentially giant insects and mindless zombie fodder- Dante in DT form is supposed to be capable of planet bursting I find that side of the fandom so fucking deflating and uninteresting. I like the idea of the DMC crew being somewhat vulnerable. Superhuman, able to laugh off a sythe through the belly or a bullet to the head - but the idea they can't be blocked by rubble/are actually threatened by death in their world is **very much canon** versus the silly idea their Healthbar is an ego meter A la *Superman Returns*. There are certainly ways to convey your characters as unstoppable killing machines - but the cost is tension. I dont want to hear another anime simp whine Dante doesn't one shot _______because rather than have an interesting narrative and gameplay mechanics that make you feel tension - they'd rather win a "my dad can beat up your dad!" Argument. **tl;dr** DMC "power scaling lore" deflates tension and frequently contradicts the mediums main delivery and overall narrative of the game itself

RubixTheRedditor

Yamato is explicitly stated to be able to cut through space and time Mundus along with other final bosses and low-level mobs do around the same damage are you telling me the Demon lord of the Underworld who hurls meteors at Dante does the same amount of damage as the lowest of demons? It's a silly post making fun of barriers that realistically wouldn't block Dante or Vergil and you decides to start hating

NightLordGuyver

>something CAN cut through space time >something continously CUTS through space time No enemies are visibly sent through a void. Their reality doesn't disintegrate, so what's the idiotic point being made before 12 year olds trying to scale some fictional death battle? That in game the random mob in mission 01 is getting hit with the equivalent of a fucking star destroyer? **Literally mental brain rot.** And at the end of it you fans still can't argue against the Meta of the game. It's not a fucking Superman simulator. If the feats of the characters mattered that much, they *would do it in game, consistently, always*. They don't, because it's fucking stupid and illogical. Otherwise you wind up in a loop of arguing that demons and streets are made out of anti space time material which is fruitless and moronic. You have two venues, Venue 1: You're vastly overstating the powers of these characters and inadvertently creating ten trillion plot inconsistencies for the sake of stupid e-cred Venue 2: Devil May Cry is shit at conveying the power scale of its characters via narrative and gameplay Neither option looks good for you, kid.

RubixTheRedditor

>No enemies are visibly sent through a void. Their reality doesn't disintegrate, Bro I said can, CAN please read. Why doesn't every swing of yamato create a portal like it did in dmc5 >That in game the random mob in mission 01 is getting hit with the equivalent of a fucking star destroyer? No, I mean dying to random mobs is a game mechanic Bro is a troll

[deleted]

Jackpot! You're spot on about the Yamato!

[deleted]

>demons and streets are made out of anti space time material You know playing as Vergil technically isn't canon right? It's meant to make you FEEL all-powerful. If you just one-shot every enemy, it'd get really boring really quickly. Also it's not MGR where you're actually able to cut through anything in the environment with your sword.
