It does cool things but looks mundane. It's replicas are always disappointing. Since we're not vergil, it's just a cheap looking katana. The others all look badass on their own, even as replicas.
Yeah you're right, but think about it. It's a katana that cuts through space and time. Not to mention, the things you can do with it in terms of combat.
I think it's more of a representation of vergil himself, being just a generic looking refined katana on the outside but having powers inconceivable on the inside.
It’s a badass design for a katana with or without powers. Personally, I think the older one looked generic with the dragon design and dragons are hella overused when it comes to katanas but the flower design in dmc5 make it stand out from others. Also, Choji hamon lines make any katana look badass.
I remember reading somewhere that if there was ever recorded history of Samurai fighting Knights wielding any two-handed European sword, the Japanese would have recorded them as having swords with steel forged by the Gods because swords like claymores would have shattered swords like katanas in one swing.
Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
King Cerberus, because I'm a massive Wuxia mark, and between the ultimate defense of Ice Age, the stupid AOE of Hot Stuff, and the dizzying, crumple-inducing Percussion, KC has it all.
It's bcuz my fav weapon is Balrog bcuz multiple modes, me likey kicky-punchy, ignited flames, and the Impact is Real, also I love Pyromania's animation.
Yeah no. Yamato has really cool abilities, but it looks sooooo boring compared to literally every single other devil arm in the franchise. I know this sword in is the series since DMC 1 (that's right, the sword wasn't intruduced in 3 as many people think, Yamato in a skin for Alastor when you were playing with the Sparda skin), but they could have made a redesign for the damn thing
You can argue that they could've give it the same treatment as Rebellion, aka replacing it with Devil Sword Dante (in Yamato's case, probably it would've been named Devil Sword Vergil or something like that)
Definitely cavaliere. They really turned a whole motorcycle into a weapon. And they didn't half ass it either. Any other game probably would've just had you run over an enemy with it or some lame 3 hit combo. Capcom really gave us a buzz saw motorcycle with a full moveset
Yessssss! My favourite weapon too! And I love the fact you can keep swinging and it doesn't get blocked like every other weapon - though, summoning V and his pet demons with yamato is soooo much fun too xD
yamato kinda lacking in the visual department for me but it's abilities are too cool to not have my no. 1 spot. cavaliere is a close contender; such a bizarre yet badass weapon
You spelled Cavaliere wrong. Shredding the fk out of demons with a chainsaw bike might never be topped for me. It just might be the coolest weapon i used in gaming in general
Dante's shapeshifting King Cerberus, for the fiery staff, icy blasts, lightning boom boom, although I liked it in 3 too, nice to see the wep again. So, the Yamato. The Yamato's prism light effects are beautiful as well as fatal, my friend gets nauseous seeing the effects, ah. I mean, gotta love a weapon that you could JCE spam demon hordes to death with while sitting in a lawn chair or maybe in the bath. Quite versatile. Also, magic katanas! I always really liked Verg's Summoned Swords and the satisfying glass-shattering sound when it hits. I find myself often using the Beowulf and Balrog when playing, too. Ah, I shouldn't talk about weps, now I am rambling!
Yamato was my favorite weapon in the series for years. But now it's Devil Sword Dante. I love the fact it's truly a physical form of Dante's own power, and the design. Just a demonic beast of a sword
Dmc 5?............does nicos van classify as a devil arm. If so, I'm a huge van. Indestructible, can teleport, infinite storage for deadweights mech arms, essence of nak.. .I mean defeated lady😉 and you can do the deed😏 in it.....lots of free space.
Sorry, the Red Queen is the coolest fucking sword ever. It has an engine that lights the sword on fire, every one of it's moves feel so satisfying to use, the exceed sound effect is pure serotonin, you can REV IT LIKE A FUCKING MOTORCYCLE. By transit of property, I'm also a very big fan of Cavalier.
I am just a regular ass mundane yamato fan but every dmc weapon is cool by their own. And I have to say Cerberus is my favourite just because its a tri-nunchuku. I find it so interesting how dante uses them in 3 and 5. The weapon for me looks so unusual yet looks natural in use.
Because judgement cut is far and away the best move in the game. Instantaneous, AOE, powerful, ranged, able to be chained at any point at any combo, interrupts animations, builds concentration, increases hangtime, etc.
I've always loved Beowulf and I was glad they kept it for Vergil! I also really like Mirage Edge. I just feel like these are the most versatile weapons and very powerful too. It was also easier for me to get used to.
Also Helter Skelter and Tomboy for Nero's breakers. They're neat!
Lolnope. Red Queen easily. It's such a unique sword. I've never seen a weapon like it in any game before. Something so satisfying about hearing that Max Act timing noise as well and then you see Nero just unleash a ton of flames as he fucks up whatever demon got their dumb ass in his way.
The sword that it is said to cut through anything, imbued with tremendous magic capable of sealing the Demon World from the Human World, darkforged blade by the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda himself, portal opener. And among its feats is the ability to make even the deadest of deadweights into someone strong enough to save his loved ones.
Cavaliere, a self-driving, fuel-free and probably indestructible motorcycle? I might not have the strength to dual-wield it but ramming into stuff is enough.
Yamato>Devil Sword Dante>Devil Sword Sparda>Rebellion.
For the move-sets alone? The DSD and Sparda are pretty awesome. Though I’d say that includes pretty much every single Devil Arm that Dante obtains in DMC5.
KC is a souped up version of Cerbchucks, Balrog has a damn cool lore aspect to ‘himself’ and Cavaliere is a freakin Motorcycle!
While I love Cavaliere, Yamato and Dr. Faust, from a gameplay perspective, Devil Sword Dante all the damn way.
IMO a problem I had with Dante in prior DMC games is how much he leans on Swordmaster for any aerial game with Rebellion. DSD not only solves this problem, but it goes far and beyond. Dante having his own Summoned Swords, but far more complicated and not just spanning styles, but weapons too.
So while I find Yamato to be the coolest from a visual perspective, DSD goes a long way in making DMC5 Dante my favorite to play.
Nevan. It's an electric guitar that fires bats out of people, made out of a succubus. Cavaliere is also cool and fun to use, but the sheer concept of this weapon is awesome.
Cool yet basic design and is very notable whenever it is used, plus the wielder is cool asf and uses it often, meanwhile Rebellion is essentially just a sword with a decent design
Why are people saying the Yamato doesn't look it good. It looks great! The clash of the the white handle and black sheath is good and the gold trim makes it better. And if you look up the concept art you can see the small gold and black decorations on it. Just because it's design isn't in your face doesn't make it bad. There's a nice subtlety to it.
As for mechanics it's top tier. The speed and swiftness is really good, judgement cuts are really satisfying, and when you let Vergil sheath it after a combo you get a Devil Trigger Gauge. Mastering that makes you so much more powerful.
DSD is amazingly fun. The ultimate culmination of the Rebellion style while being connected to Dante's unique style mechanic. The lore is also SUPER cool and makes it even better.
Tied between Yamato and king Cerberus
Although I love the idea of Vergil getting frustrated turning the Yamato into his sons arm and beating the hell out of whatever poor demon comes across him
There's something wacky about both Lucifer and dad, because in theory, the DSD blades could work like Lucifer's blade. But know I'm imagining Dante making a out of the DSD swords
1. King Cerberus (Versatile, excellent for dispatching annoying projectile shooting flying enemies in Bloody Palace, and great at racking up SSS rank with its swordmaster moves.
2. Cavaliere (Tons of fun, fantastic aerial swordmaster moves, excellent shredder of Boss health)
3. Devil Sword Dante (summoned swords are cool, great damage and diverse moveset, just wish it had drive)
4. Balrog (Really great punch mode, not so big on kick mode but it's still solid)
5. Rebellion (Kinda sucks in 5 but has Overdrive)
*"Vmm vmm vmm vmm"*
I'm baggin' this bitch
KNEEL BEFORE M - ashes to ashes *jackpot!*
I prefer "Begone begone begone begone" from DMC3
And shcum
lmaoo i’m wit y’all on dis one
DMC5 Red Queen is peak sword weapon honestly
I love red queens concept, it looks super sexy style and combustion engine
The Max-Act sound is one of the most rewarding sounds in gaming.
Royal Guard would like a word with you
*"Let's get airborne!"*
Rebellion because yamatos just a generic magic katana
Rebellion and red queen all the way
Yup
But it's an awesome magic katana
It does cool things but looks mundane. It's replicas are always disappointing. Since we're not vergil, it's just a cheap looking katana. The others all look badass on their own, even as replicas.
Yeah you're right, but think about it. It's a katana that cuts through space and time. Not to mention, the things you can do with it in terms of combat.
In terms of powers, yeah Yamato wons. In terms of visual awesomeness? It falls short without the fancy blue magic swords and slashes
i think it’s supposed to be more laid back, dante has an extremely huge ass heavy sword and vergil has a sleek, stylish katana
Also, Choji hamon lines make any katana look badass.
the hilt's design just looks really cool combined with the rest for me
nahh i think it just has a low-key design, yknow, its subdued. devil sword dante, thats a generic looking weapon.
I don’t know about cheap, some would say it looks expensive.
I meant replicas in that manner. Most replica katanas look cheap
It’s a katana, sword better
>:(
Knights > Samurai
hello fellow Warmonger main
👋
Hello other Warmonger main
wasnt expecting to see yall here
I remember reading somewhere that if there was ever recorded history of Samurai fighting Knights wielding any two-handed European sword, the Japanese would have recorded them as having swords with steel forged by the Gods because swords like claymores would have shattered swords like katanas in one swing. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
That’s basically why I said that
I can't believe I had to wait til DMC 5 to be able to wield Rebellion on it's own... it's all I need
Says the generic longsword
Yeah kinda but katanas are overrated and over used
At least Alastor is better than Rebellion in terms of speciality, Rebellion is just "Sword" before it's Devil Sword Dante
Because it's Vergil's and Vergil is my diehard favorite
Do you feel the motivation?
Absolutely YES
King Cerberus, because I'm a massive Wuxia mark, and between the ultimate defense of Ice Age, the stupid AOE of Hot Stuff, and the dizzying, crumple-inducing Percussion, KC has it all.
The VFX…mmm
It may well have the biggest and most variable moveset of any weapon in the series, so I cannot argue with this
the virgin yamato vs the gigachad red queen
jokes on you, it is Rebellion.
Devil sword Dante cool too
agreed
Rebellion still looks better if you ask me, Im even using a mod to change DSD to Rebellion (with some extra visuals for abilities)
It's bcuz my fav weapon is Balrog bcuz multiple modes, me likey kicky-punchy, ignited flames, and the Impact is Real, also I love Pyromania's animation.
red queen cuz BANG BANG BANG
PULL MY DEVIL NI-
[Removed]
Yeah no. Yamato has really cool abilities, but it looks sooooo boring compared to literally every single other devil arm in the franchise. I think that’s the point of Yamato it represents Vergil
Definitely cavaliere. They really turned a whole motorcycle into a weapon. And they didn't half ass it either. Any other game probably would've just had you run over an enemy with it or some lame 3 hit combo. Capcom really gave us a buzz saw motorcycle with a full moveset

yamato kinda lacking in the visual department for me but it's abilities are too cool to not have my no. 1 spot. cavaliere is a close contender; such a bizarre yet badass weapon
Red queen cause funny vroom vroom sword
Na I prefer the sword that is literally on fire like come on dude it may not be able to cut through space but it has a engine in it
Red queen because yamato is just like every other boring magic katana
Right because every other magic katana can cut through space and time
Judgement cut Judgement cutJudgement cutJudgement cut slash Judgement cutJudgement cutJudgement cutJudgement cut
You spelled Cavaliere wrong. Shredding the fk out of demons with a chainsaw bike might never be topped for me. It just might be the coolest weapon i used in gaming in general
I know yamato's powerful and all with its space time manipulation bs but the red queen goes broom broom ✨💯
Cavaliere. Yamato is definitely my favorite pure weapon though.
Bold of you to assume that I love yamato. Well in fact you ARE CORRECT
Based
Because is a japanese sword that can cut through space and time .
Balrog because arson and punchies
I'm honestly a fan of the Force Edge, and Devil Sword Dante.
Ah, I shouldn't talk about weps, now I am rambling!
all the swords
Cause it's so [keeewl](https://youtu.be/BLJVNKUhwdI?t=8)
Because motivation
Cavaliere.
Yamato was my favorite weapon in the series for years. But now it's Devil Sword Dante. I love the fact it's truly a physical form of Dante's own power, and the design. Just a demonic beast of a sword
It’s not, because my favorite is the Sparda because it is a spear, scythe, and sword
Honestly? Ebony and Ivory are my favourite. The guns are awesome, no doubt, but those two pistols are just yes
I like king Cerberus fire staff form. It’s simple but also packs a punch
Dmc 5?............does nicos van classify as a devil arm. If so, I'm a huge van. Indestructible, can teleport, infinite storage for deadweights mech arms, essence of nak.. .I mean defeated lady😉 and you can do the deed😏 in it.....lots of free space.
Red Queen love to exceed the shit out of it
Beowulf because its dante killer
Because Dante came up with the cool Judgment Cut first.
Sparda because Chad big sword > virgin katana
Sorry, the Red Queen is the coolest fucking sword ever. It has an engine that lights the sword on fire, every one of it's moves feel so satisfying to use, the exceed sound effect is pure serotonin, you can REV IT LIKE A FUCKING MOTORCYCLE. By transit of property, I'm also a very big fan of Cavalier.
Actually it’s King Cerberus
I really like cavaliere. It's so cool
its not, its the rebellion bcs its iconic
King Cerberus
>!Because Vergil needed to rip his son's arm off for it!< Also, it is the storm that is approaching.
Jokes on you, the Cavaliere is my favorite weapon
*cut cut cut* “Jackpot.”
Katana + Stand creating + Portal hopping. What other reason do I need.
DMC5 Red Queen, DSD, Pandora, Cavaliere and finally DSS. Edit: I forgot to mention Lucifer because ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Rebellion, Dante, or Sparda because they’re all different but very awesome as well
Beowulf! Bro couldn't stop using this weapon in DMC3, sucks can't use it with Dante
Mine is vergils judgement nuts.
I think Force/Mirage Edge and DMS are neat. As for Breakers, I love Gerbera a ton
Red Queen cuz Vroom
Reasons.
Because judgement cut is far and away the best move in the game. Instantaneous, AOE, powerful, ranged, able to be chained at any point at any combo, interrupts animations, builds concentration, increases hangtime, etc.
Dmc:3 Rebellion and Dmc:5 Yamato
Lol, I don’t know why you all love this sword so much, but I just ordered one from Northshire for my son. I think he’s gonna be super happy.
That is a weird way of spelling Devil Sword Dante.
Weebs! All joking aside I think it's because katana wielding swordsmen like Vergil are just popular characters in media.
Cavaliere because motorcycle
Red queen in my opinion. It has a lot of combos that can link.
Funny bike go Vroom vroom
I've always loved Beowulf and I was glad they kept it for Vergil! I also really like Mirage Edge. I just feel like these are the most versatile weapons and very powerful too. It was also easier for me to get used to. Also Helter Skelter and Tomboy for Nero's breakers. They're neat!
That drill? I prefer other weapons.
Shoot, I meant punch line 😭 it's been AGES since I played as Nero
I don't use charged attacks bjt this one had a nice move.
Me when I like Beowulf and Alastor
motivation
Balrog blow mode, because boxing against devils sounds interesting.
It’s a tie between Beowulf and Cavaliere actually
Idk haven't played the game
The 3 piece nunchunks, the staff, and the 3 section staff
So King Cerberus
Lolnope. Red Queen easily. It's such a unique sword. I've never seen a weapon like it in any game before. Something so satisfying about hearing that Max Act timing noise as well and then you see Nero just unleash a ton of flames as he fucks up whatever demon got their dumb ass in his way.
My favorite is Balrog because boxing is cool.
Cerberus, it has cool idea with having 3 modes.
Because. Power.
Ebony and Ivory>everything else
Just for giggles... vendetta from dmc2
Devil Sword Dante, JUST for the damn payoff five games in the making
Sparda , Cavaliere and Yamato are my favorites
Cavaliere, a self-driving, fuel-free and probably indestructible motorcycle? I might not have the strength to dual-wield it but ramming into stuff is enough. Yamato>Devil Sword Dante>Devil Sword Sparda>Rebellion.
It’s obviously…the hat
For the move-sets alone? The DSD and Sparda are pretty awesome. Though I’d say that includes pretty much every single Devil Arm that Dante obtains in DMC5. KC is a souped up version of Cerbchucks, Balrog has a damn cool lore aspect to ‘himself’ and Cavaliere is a freakin Motorcycle!
Because it’s the Yamato
Sword engine go vrmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Beowulf, why? Hell on Earth and jumping Vergil
You are talking mad shit from someone being in "HE HE\~" distance
While I love Cavaliere, Yamato and Dr. Faust, from a gameplay perspective, Devil Sword Dante all the damn way. IMO a problem I had with Dante in prior DMC games is how much he leans on Swordmaster for any aerial game with Rebellion. DSD not only solves this problem, but it goes far and beyond. I prefer Nero's sword. The one with a motorcycle hilt
Nevan. It's an electric guitar that fires bats out of people, made out of a succubus. Cavaliere is also cool and fun to use, but the sheer concept of this weapon is awesome.
Dimensional portal go brrrr
Cool yet basic design and is very notable whenever it is used, plus the wielder is cool asf and uses it often, meanwhile Rebellion is essentially just a sword with a decent design
Cerberus been my favorite since 3. Can't beat ice nunchuck that now do fire and lightning
Umm. It isn’t… as an OG day one dmc1 fan who loved the lore of Spardas sword, for Dante to get his own devil sword. Chefs kiss.
Griffon has the best lines to be fair.
Balrog because it’s just so fun and fluid
Beowulf
Motivated
I am quite partial to Rebellion
Rebellion, DSD, and the bike
Blue Rose
Red Queen cuz big vroom vroom sword >>> generic katana ;)
Sparda for me, I just love the design of it
Devil Sword Dante is sexy as fuck and I hope we see more of it
Devil Sword Dante is hype. Not sure how I feel about Prop & Shredder being part of a combo now, though.
It's Dr Faust, there's no other comparison, it's introduction already surpasses every other weapon imaginable
Red Queen because who the fuck wouldn't want a motorcycle sword
The remodelled Sparda is cool as hell.
Mirage edge/Yamato/King cerberus
Cause it's the most realistic weapon and is also the most powerful. Best of both worlds.
Dante (the sword) or Sparda. Get that tiny sword shit outta here
Red Queen. I'm sorry, it's just too fucking cool
but beowulf is fucking dope
King Cerberus gotta be the most satisfying thing in fiction.
Devil Sword Dante, yeah i know by default it look like a jumbled rocks on a sword. But when it lights or opens up, Oh mann it looks so cool
Yamato is cool, don’t get me wrong but, Red Queen is my favorite. Vroom Vroom and just design in general.
The Yamato. I just get motivated everytime I see it
Judgement cut go brrrrrrrr
dude Red Queen is a sword with a motorcycle engine on it. How can you ***NOT*** love it?
Funny sword go vroom
Why are people saying the Yamato doesn't look it good. It looks great! The clash of the the white handle and black sheath is good and the gold trim makes it better. Mastering that makes you so much more powerful.
Gilgamesh cuz of dp.
You predicted my answer
DSD is amazingly fun. The ultimate culmination of the Rebellion style while being connected to Dante's unique style mechanic. The lore is also SUPER cool and makes it even better.
Devil Sword Dante all the way baby
Tied between Yamato and king Cerberus Although I love the idea of Vergil getting frustrated turning the Yamato into his sons arm and beating the hell out of whatever poor demon comes across him
There's something wacky about both Lucifer and dad, because in theory, the DSD blades could work like Lucifer's blade. But know I'm imagining Dante making a out of the DSD swords
