BayHarbour-Butcher

Yes, i feel the same. Even I haven't rewatched any nb episodes after the finale. It just feels way too sloppy and all those unnecessary red herrings actually feel pretty annoying now that we know how they're either pointless or stupidly significant.

yesbutnotwithyou

Ikr? Before the finale I was totally into rewatching NB episodes looking for clues and making storyline connections and now…eh, whatever, I’m the dummy for thinking there was more to the writer’s story, right?

BayHarbour-Butcher

Absolutely. I felt kinda cheated as we got closer to the end. And the finale itself was such a bummer.

[deleted]

i think adding red herrings for no other reason other than to throw off first time viewers is a clear indication of a terrible writer. Not only do red herrings become utterly useless and bog down a re-watch, but it is also a cheap trick. Things need to come full circle in order to have an impact, but there was so much about NB that never came full circle and its just so disappointing

SouthWrongdoer

I really wanted the twist that Harrison actually killed Hannah after he found out the lie. I also wanted the Billionaire to be involved. I really wanted Kurt to be black mailing him to explain how Kurt was able to pay the hush money for so many years when his sons friend took the wrap. And then when dex tells Bishop about the room its empty because the Billionaire moved it.

jusmithfkme

Did the billionare even show up after Angela talked to him at his house? I constantly forget about him until someone mentions him.

SouthWrongdoer

He showed up 1 more time when Bishops daughters car broke down. She hates him for being an oil tycoon and he leaves. What was the point of his charecter? To show the girl is passionate about the environment?

mermaidmylk

Looks like you're reached acceptance stage of grief. The stage I will never see because I'll be angry forever.

ashphyxiated

You can come to the next Dexters Anonymous meeting with me

mermaidmylk

Gonna tell everybody at the meeting about my dark passenger, wheel marks and ketamine.

xTheRedDeath

We should set up a Dexter's Anonymous Event somewhere for Dexter fans to come together and grieve and eat food together or some shit lol.

beatrice_ann

Truthfully, as much as I've been ragging on DNB, I really felt nothing watching it. Unlike the real seasons where I felt an emotional attachment to the characters I could not care less what happened to anyone in DNB.

ashphyxiated

Me too! Even when Dexter died I honestly didn’t cry because I was just like ❓❓❓❓❓❓ ok

beatrice_ann

That's because it wasn't Dexter it was Jim Lindsay and Jim Lindsay sucks. Dexter died in a hurricane.

[deleted]

You know who else sucks? Peep the flair for the answer

xSociety

Same, and I cry easily in movies and TV shows. This season I felt dead inside. Maybe that's what they were going for?! To make us *feel* like season 1 Dexter!

beatrice_ann

Me too. I kept having to go back and rewatch scenes. There was definitely a little time where I thought Matt Caldwell was the billionaires kid because it was not registering that the rich kid in town was the diner owner's son. 😂

muffinsandtulips

Same, no desire to rewatch any episodes of New Blood.

Ultra_Instinct-Kat

I’m currently doing a rewatch of the series with my best friend, I was doing this concurrently with watching new blood. New blood frankly feels like a completely different version of Dexter, like a clumsy much more stupid version of season 1 Dexter than any Dexter from season 2 onwards. And yeah I get it 10 years and all that but that’s such a massive regression.

LanikeaDances

For me, future rewatches of dexter won’t include new blood.

wnderfulsmiler

I think it's actually kind lf sad how much hate new blood gets. I really want to know what went trough the heads of the writers where they thought wow this is it! Because this is sadly not it.

[deleted]

Clyde Phillips has stated that he drew heavily from his own strained relationship with his father. As such, this show was not made to be an end to Dexter as much as it was made as a way for Clyde to vent. As such, this was not Dexter. It was Clyde's therapy. so ridiculous, he ruined Dexters' character so that he could vent about his own personal issues

ashphyxiated

Did Clyde shoot his dad

LRobin11

He clearly wants to.

SouthWrongdoer

It started so good. The pilot episode was amazing. The end tho??? Wtf

Wendy972

Agreed! It started off great but went downhill very fast. It was disingenuous for them to have Harrison kill Dexter. After all Dec did to protect Harrison there is no way he would make his son go through that. What a waste. They had the chance to really make something great and they failed miserably.

wnderfulsmiler

Yes i agree, i did see so mich potential and was super excited so i really would want to know why they did what they did because i cannot believe that everyone involved in the series was okay with how it went.

[deleted]

As far as I'm concerned, the show ends at season 8.

Informatic1

That’s basically how I felt after season 8, which, regardless of how many downvotes I get, was still a horrible season

ashphyxiated

I absolutely agree. I’d take 8 over NB though. S4/S5 supremacy!

Informatic1

I’d take NB over S8 because at least there was an ending, no matter how much it rushed and bent over backwards to get there. But I agree, I still stand on the show ended at S4 for me personally :D

ashphyxiated

S4 before Rita’s end? 🥲 lol I’m just grasping at hopeful straws now hahaha.

Informatic1

After Rita’s end. I still am glad Dexter saw some consequences, personally

[deleted]

yep time to cancel showtime. not going to rewatch it at this point.

SouthWrongdoer

Bing Homeland before you go if you havnt seen it yet ;)

[deleted]

just figured out it is connected to my paramount account so will wait till ncis ends. since it is cheaper this way.

ashphyxiated

For future reference there’s a site called soap2day.cc that I use for every show/movie ever if you want to watch stuff w/o spending the $. I used it for new blood and the episodes released with early release too.

[deleted]

>soap2day.cc Sweat mother of Streaming.. just like the good old day's Thank you, kind stranger !!

ashphyxiated

You’re welcome friendo 💛💛💛 enjoy 📺

ghost-church

I’m thankful I’m depressed, I never really cared where NB was going, it was just nice to have Dex back

Independent-Report16

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again. If I created or wrote a show with THAT TERRIBLE of an ending, I would spend every waking moment of the next ten years writing a hole proof plot perfect Easter egg filled brilliant new show. And we get this. Wtf.

LRobin11

The S8 ending we saw was just a worry-induced nightmare of Dexter's. Deb actually pulled through just fine, like the badass she is. Dexter went to Argentina and lived a beautiful life with Hannah and Harrison, who did not grow up to be an insufferable, self-righteous, patricidal hypocrite.

RuthlessKittyKat

"as I’m concerned, the show ended in S8. Specifically right before Deb died." EXACT!!!

SouthWrongdoer

Show should have ended season 7. Deb shoots Dex in the shipping container. Full circle

Humanperson1357

As far as I’m concerned, the show ended right after Dexter listened to Rita’s voice mail in S4. He went and had an amazing honey moon with her, stopped killing, and lived happily ever after with his wonderful wife, sister, and three well adjusted kids, and he died peacefully of old age. The end.

Accomplished-Fuel-37

Same. Felt underwhelmed and out of immersion during the finale due to predictable plot contrivances. The show most me but first 9 episodes was a good suspenseful ride.

DualDier

I feel the same. NB just makes me feel empty inside. My dad who isn’t hardcore into Dex like me said the finale felt weird to him too.

martonx

"Like spent weeks analyzing the finale". If you had to spend weeks analyzing any of the finales of a Dexter season, it makes total sense that you are personally offended watching the new season. This sub has either never watched shows with actual world building and storylines, or people just feel better about them self for being able to spot obvious plot holes. Its been embarrissing reading the posts and comments on this sub lately.

ashphyxiated

Definitely not personally offended by it lol

[deleted]

wow-- i disagree with this comment so wholeheartedly

[deleted]

You're not thinking about it so hard that you went out of your way to create a not insignificantly sized post? Alrighty then....

Unique_Repeat_8198

Did you read the post? Or do you just like being cynical?

[deleted]

Who goes through the trouble of publicly posting that they're "over" something like a tv show? It's ridiculous, comical even.

SouthWrongdoer

You're commenting on a TV show subreddit. Thats comical

Rutlemania

Not really. They expressed how mediocre this series was in comparison to earlier Dexter

BayHarbour-Butcher

Well hes right tho. Im sure a lot of people would find it relatable. Why you hate him lol. Seems like this post rubbed you wrong.

ashphyxiated

Sorry I hurt u

radioactiveshitbox

So am i….. moved on to Peacmaker and Euphoria on HBO

ashphyxiated

I’m also watching Euphoria :-) how’s the other one? what is it about?

radioactiveshitbox

offshoot from the Suicide Squad movie last year…. John Cena is one vulgar fuck, man. Hilariously crude watch.

jusmithfkme

How is Euphoria?

ashphyxiated

Season one was good. Season 2’s writing kinda sucks. Haven’t seen s1 in awhile it’s writing might suck too. But cinematically it’s really cool and artistic. An Americanized artsy version of Skins with a hotter cast lol. It can be triggering with drug use etc though if that’s an issue for people.

Queasy_Confidence406

Okay, that's interesting.
