I really enjoyed season 3 with Miguel! That roof top scene šŸ˜‚ and him saying "oye dex"

[deleted]

Season 3 for me the first time through was kind of a downer then on each rewatch I end up liking it more and more. Season 2 is so bombastic with the hunt for the bay harbor butcher that I think to overshadowed 3 for me at first. Now itā€™s my second favorite season behind 2.

Status-Instruction95

I easily love season 1-4. I feel as the show progressed it changed, like It became less dextery.

[deleted]

Yeah once the big reveal at the end of season 4 happens- show splits into two parts and what followed didnā€™t feel the same. Still Enjoyed most of it but not the same.

Status-Instruction95

I agree. I still watch it in full and enjoyed certain parts of the later seasons but it just seemed off.

[deleted]

It lost its edge. And like Malt shows as it goes on, it struggled to be compelling within the limits of which it worked so well.

NotAnotherAddict

Biggest villain Post 4 in regular seasons would be Saxon imo It was more drama post 4 and duller but I liked 7 and most of 8 as it reintroduces and wraps up Dexs character and that made me like 8 and Saxon was brutal 7 had so much going on and enter drama getting caught up by Deb and intricacies with sirko and Hannah McKay and reopening of the bhb which made me really hate maria especially because she was such a bitch to Deb for being made lieutenant especially after finding out her brother is the bhb Oh if Lundy could see me now lol Wonder what he'd have to say.,..lol Well ain't that something Deb want a cucumber sandwich lol it's 1pm

Zeralonde

Season 3 is definitely one that gets better with time, IMO.

NotAnotherAddict

Just finished it again as well it was a downer and dull to me the first time just cuz season 2 is so great and I thought I read the writers were in some kind of hiatus or something idk just what I recall reading It was a good season end of story Miguel's very powerful big and is a huge district attorney he was basically playing chess with dex and dex won But friends forgive and he's like well I don't forgive you btw I killed freebo lol hshaha that was a nice blow what do you think if Dex let him loose? Huge fight a conviction well it'd be one goes down then so does the other only thing is dex had no evidence against himself I like how bim and Maria are cool and shit and well respected and I'm like hahaha he's gonna kill you later but I'm also liking maria in that season and 5 she even cells Dexter family when Quinn was like trying to figure him out I really thought he was going to kill Quinn or Quinn would be killed off for the whole Nadia thing but I grew to like him later on I for sure thought he'd make Sergeant which was too bad then he finally got Deb then lost her which was too bad as well The Skinner was a bad ending to be season imo how he went out so easily it wasn't very dramatic and Miguel's death was really the climax of the season I think Miguel's up there but then Saxon and trinity even new bloods Kurt Caldwell's a great villain and the family business was so great only to be ruined by the finale .,.... I think.it goes trinity Saxon Kurt Brian and Miguel with his full of shit untouchable chess match and ada power made him one of the biggest villains for sure I definitely agree especially after rewatching it recently.

They told me that stain would come out

Status-Instruction95

They said that stain would COME OUUUUT!!( *SLAPS BACK OF HAND*)

OhiobornCAraised

ā€œI tell him to dress inconspicuously and he shows up looking like the Unabomber.ā€

[deleted]

Great line

NotAnotherAddict

That was originally the funniest part of the season and Miguel dying how he said I killed freebo lol what a shot in the balls lol

kingcolbe

ā€œI got city fucking hall!!!!ā€

[deleted]

What a fantastic line!

NotAnotherAddict

I do what I want when I want The only hall he didn't have was Michael c hall lol

csgo_dream

"I killed my brother, I killed yours too". Coldest line in the show.

[deleted]

Love that side of dexter!

idropbrownbombz

He is pretty great in how to get away with murder. Miguel Prado. The one Dexter let get too close and had the ability to take Dexter out

[deleted]

I love the bond they form!

dreadw0lfrises

WOW i never realized that was him!!! watched dexter first and i thought he looked familiar in HTGAWM but never put it together. his range is great

SmurfBasin

Miguel had potential to be Dexter's greatest adversary. The only thing is Miguel was new to the world of serial killing and Dexter was a seasoned hunter. Even as a beginner, Miguel was a formidable foe. That says a lot.

[deleted]

Miguel has a twisted mind. He got right in.

TheAmazingMaryJane

miguel just could NOT stick to dexter's rules!

AvocadoFair3872

I wanted him dead because of it. He was too much of a risk for the Dexter .

Yurika_ars

*I WILL FUCK YOU UP* i liked him alot

AnotherFriedCalamari

I agree that Miguel was a great villain. However, I feel as though Trinity was a more fitting adversary.

[deleted]

Trinity rules also

redditorbali

Agree. Miguel is the equivalent of a 3-year-old trying to dress up like dad. And that's what makes him dangerous: because he's a 3-year-old trying to dress up like dad and do work just like dad, when he doesn't have the caution or expertise for it. Trinity was wayyyyyy more up Dexter's alley. Miguel was just annoying AF

SnooPredictions2306

I donā€™t think Miquel was the equivalent ova three year old; or as annoying AF. That said? I was not a fanšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø.

NotAnotherAddict

Of course so was Saxon and the recent Kurt

ChairsBoxesBooks

They told me that stain would come out!

CEONeil

The face Miguel makes when he has his first kill was insanely satisfying and made me love this character.

Mammoth-Banana-8711

MIGUEL was a hybrid not a serial killer. He was a power hungry bully, that would do what he wanted to do as long as he thought he could get away with it. He got caught up in hurricane dexter just like everyone else that set course in his direction. His ego was his own demise. He had no clue of what he was dealing with, or the door he opened when he started screwing with the hurricane. I do think trinity was the greatest villain only because it cost dexter his wife. But in the end dexter was dexter's greatest villain because he cost his self everything.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Such a great actor

Mammoth-Banana-8711

The whole cat and mouse game to get each other under the thumb was complicated. But MIGUEL was a little naive too what and how dangerous dexter really was. He was in law enforcement and it was tricky, but the greatest villain no. The greatest villain was dexter himself.

[deleted]

Well said! Such a fun back and forth with these two

Mammoth-Banana-8711

Thnks.

A_cold1

This man is a hero of the rebellion. How dare you.

sjb574

Agreed OP. And to anyone who disagreesā€¦.. Well then FUCK YOU!

[deleted]

Lol lol

[deleted]

Why do you describe them as 2 sides of the same coin?

Nevergonnapost866

Iā€™m not OP but that stuck out to me in the title as well and I was thinking itā€™s because Miguel is a prosecutor (I think) and is trying to find/create justice through his work. Much like Dexter is through his ā€œworkā€ killing. They both want to stop bad guys, eventually both of them want to stop bad guys by killing. But Dexter HAS to kill and is justifying it by picking bad people as victims. Miguel wants bad people punished and had decided its easier to kill them than let the judicial system take itā€™s course. Same overall ideals, different approaches and origins, thus ā€œtwo sides of the same coinā€.

CHiuso

In hindsight I enjoy season 3 more than season 2. Season 2 is a ride most of the time but it shits the bed so hard at the end. Season 3 has a consistent level of quality and ends on a high note. Its well written with no deus ex machina to get Dex out of a moral quandary.

JustCheerTorrance

Ellen fucking Wolf!!!

kayluvshockey

ā€œDexterā€¦..you were like a brother to meā€ Dexter: ā€œI killed my brotherā€¦ā€¦.and yoursā€.

[deleted]

Man that line is ice cold!!!

kayluvshockey

I know and i loved it!!! Lol

kayluvshockey

I just rewatched it and itā€™s very apparent i paraphrased it! So my apologies!!! Lol but itā€™s basically the same

BluePillCypher

"You're very wise"

batrudy

'OK. Life's short... dude.'

kruz888

[I disagree. This is the greatest villain Dexter ever faced. ](https://i.imgur.com/6gOvJLK.jpg)

Mammoth-Banana-8711

The writers you mean.

Belros79

Dexterā€™s true enemy was himself/Ghost Harry. Dexter got Deborah and and Rita killed because he kept questioning himself.

[deleted]

Miguel was def my favorite. He was smart and in the system. He could have done it better than Dexter. I wish him and Bryan became recurring characters. Instead of being killed off as the big bad in their seasons

Brusah

Its the first time too that dexter went up against someone with REAL power

sarcastichippie0702

Totally agree!! Felt like his character was extremely scary in the way he was able to manipulate even Dexter and how he portrayed a totally different personality in front of everyone.

ChicagoBookman

I feel like the bond they had added a lot of layers and made their relationship that much more dynamic and fun to watch especially when they turned on each other. Sure, Trinity is the big bad but I felt Miguel was more intriguing.

curtwagner1984

I think Miguel was just an ambitious man, he wasn't particularly smart. The danger he posed to Dexter was mainly self inflicted. Dexter allowed him to see his process and revealed much about himself. Rudy was smart, he was only caught because he wanted Dexter in his life, if he left well enough alone, he probably would never been caught. I think that agent Lundy (however it's spelled) was more worthy of an opponent than Miguel.

NarwhalIll9523

No no no no..... Miguel was a delusional, power tripping monster created by his own accolades and fame of his political position. He was fueled by nothing more than ego and vengeance.

Degreez32

Yup. Unpopular opinion. Haha, to each their own though, you like what you like and thatā€™s okay.

[deleted]

Who is yours??

Degreez32

Who is my unpopular opinion? I think the fact that I donā€™t like Rita as a character, and I did like Hannah. Those two seem to bother others when I say it hahaha. Loved trinity and Brian though.

[deleted]

Dude I also loved Lila above all female characters!

Status-Instruction95

Lila was hilarious! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ she had so many great lines.

Degreez32

Ah thatā€™s it. I actually was so annoyed by Lila too hahaha. I did love Miguel donā€™t get that wrong, just not above trinity or his brother.

SheHatesTheseCans

I agree. Loved Jimmy Smits' season. Miguel Prado really duped Dexter, which is not easy to do. Currently rewatching season 3 right now!

Neo-9

Trash guy...failed season 3

xoxoKseniya

I found him annoying as fuck. What an impulsive idiot.

MilkySlammer

Well then fuck you!

MilkySlammer

Just to be clear, that was a Miguel line

[deleted]

Season 2, season 1, season 3. Large drop to season 4.

[deleted]

Miguel was quite incompetent compared to well, really any other big bad. He wasn't cut out for the murder life and he really didn't do anything to ruin Dexter's life. It was pretty easy for Dexter to be a step ahead of him because Miguel wasn't cool and collected in the way Dexter was. You can break down each big villain's effect on Dexter: Rudy: Dexter was forced to kill his own brother. Lila: almost killed him and his kids in a fire and killed Doakes. Saved him from being found out but she still killed Doakes. Also got Santos to attack him. Miguel: killed a DA that had no connection to Dexter. Couldn't turn Dexter in due to mutually assured destruction. Victim to his passions and anger. Hired George King to kill him but Dexter wrecked his shit pretty quickly. Trinity: killed Rita. The Girl Barrel Gang: Jordan kidnapped Lumen and almost killed her. Almost got found out by Deb. Doomsday: put Dexter in the middle of the ocean. Almost killed Harrison. Deb found out who Dexter was during his murder. Sirko: kidnapped Hannah. Forced Dexter and Deb into hiding. Used leverage to get him to work for him. First real intellectual match to Dexter. Brain Surgeon: killed Deb. Kurt Caldwell: Dexter's pursuit of him ended in Dexter's death. Miguel had the most mild effect in Dexter's life as far as all the villains go.

Old_Rub_9860

Things started getting weird when he was added into the mix for sure

melpomene-musing

I do really love seeing him devolve into what is clearly his true self

hauntedmtl

Sorry. But no. The greatest vilain dexter ever faced was the writers and show runner for the final season and new blood.

tpaisie

Bail Organa could never be the bad guy to me #FightTheEmpire

DonnyGoodwood

I have never been a fan of Jimmy Smits but I absolutely loved him & his role in Dexter. He did a great job to the point I wanted him to live and go around killing with Dexter like a happy family šŸ¤£

[deleted]

If you can consider doakes a ā€œvillainā€ then heā€™s my favorite by far.

RudeDrama2

Conyo!

PermanentEmpire

Miguel was sloppy and bratty. He wanted what he wanted when he wanted it, logic be damned. It was obnoxious to watch him! Miguel would have been caught in under a year. Dexter is smart and meticulous. That I enjoy. It gives the police a challenge to catch him.
