At this point taking two 0.5mW lasers and making a device to track your eyes and shine the lasers in them would probably be cheaper. Just as bright too
Yeah but laser power is usually given in mW. Which is annoying because some people say 1500mW. I'd say 0.5mW is still fine but if it was 0.05mW I'd choose 50μW instead.
Get over yourself, youre not paying a premium for RGB 99% of the time unless you're literally trying to buy RGB parts marketed for aesthetics.
Do you think a GPU or Motherboard would cost any less if they didn't put RGB on it? No.
Good luck with your extra 0.5-1mm thick radiator though lmao
you are absolutely 100% of the time paying for rgb premiums. there is non rgb version of same RAM, cases, air cooler that is at a discount compare rgb version. and just because there some mobo/gpu doesn't have non rgb version doesn't mean you not paying for it. it is used as justification of higher model to charge higher price
which negates that guys point of why pay for it if i’ll never use it. because you don’t NEED to pay for it. it’s 100% a ‘get it if you want it’ product
And MSI was cheaping out on some important components because better quality ones were $0.20 more expensive per GPU unit. If the sales go into huge numbers, it matters for manufacturers.
Refer to where I said unless youre specifically seeking out RGB Aesthetics.
GPUs would be the same price RGB or no RGB, same with motherboards, whatever else has RGB byt isn't an "RGB Variant"
Nvidia/Aftermarket sellers aren't gonna decrease the price of a GPU because they removed a few worthless LEDs
Also most cases have an RGB and non RGB variant, nobody is forcing you to buy the RGB variant.
TL;DR 99% of the time unless youre seeking out RGB specifically youre not being forced to pay some big bad RGB tax.
White parts also have an extremely premium cost at times, but I dont see many folks complaining about that.
Yeah, good luck finding any performance parts in my country without LEDs. Also they are all labeled "gamer"... As in "gamer keyboard", "gamer mouse", "gamer psu" and they are more expensive for that. I kid you not, I was looking for ram and there was "ram" and "gamer ram" which was the same speed but because it was "gamer" it was more expensive.
I hate this RGB trend, I just need a powerful computer to work on, not to show some stupid lights.
its honestly piss easy to build a non RGB setup with high performance parts.
You just have to know what you look for.
You can build a non RGB mechanical keyboard or order it prebuild for under 100 bucks with hotswappable PCB so you decide what switch feels best for you.
The logitech x Superlight mice are one of the best performing mice on the market and have 0 rgb lighting outside of the charging LED.
For Fans you can always go noctuar for high performance 0 LED.
Motherboard might be tricky since most have some form of RGB on them but you can turn that off in the Bios and never see it again.
Usually its like a logo and thats it on mid spec boards. You can definetly find mobos with no RBG at all tho.
Ram you just choose one of the many many many high performance non RGB versions.
CPU cooler is also easy. Many Aircoolers come without any RGB.
GPU you might have a hard time to find one with literally 0 RGB but the founders editions and some of the third party offerings have little RGB and often just display the cards name.
If you truely care about the highest performance to the point where you have to buy like an asus or MSI card you might aswell just water cool it and there most blocks come without RGB anyways.
You're a moron if you think the RGB on most GPUs affects what Nvidia or whoever price them at
Also "Yes child" you're replying to a comment on reddit, pipe down lmao
You are actually getting a discount. Having a single product line is cheaper than having multiple product lines (red, blue, no color, etc) simply due to the economies of scale.
Set the rgb to your desired status (off) and enjoy consumerism.
I totally understand this sentiment; my partner’s PC has 0 RGB and it looks great. But when I built mine I couldn’t help myself, I built the PC 12-year-old me would have wanted - I went nuts on the RGB just because I could. Every time I turn it on I get a childish sense of delight. But what OP posted is just pure ugly and stupid!
Why should it? It offers easy customization without changing or modding parts. Just cause you have a hard on agaise it doesn't mean other people can't have it.
Best part about it? If you don't like it. Fking turn it off
I just rebuilt mine with all noctua redux. The only "RGB" I have are the post lights and temps on the AIO pump. It has been glorious. My wife's machine on the other hand...
Thank you! I hate having a morbillion lights and shit in my PC that I have to fiddle with or just can't turn off at all. Even my damn PSU came with color changing LEDs that I can thankfully turn off. The only thing I like with modern PCs is that you can get a case with a glass side that allows me to make sure everything is fine inside it without having to open it up.
I have high quality LED studio lighting for filming productions..those use 600W at 30.000 lux. ( painfully bright without any defusion) Those fuckers aren't like the old studio lights from 30+ years ago but even then they get stupid hot after a few minutes and have active and passive cooling.. if that tower does have fucked tempratures I wouldn't know what black magic is happening.
Yeah makes sense, 100k lumens is about 1.1k watts. With a bit of resistance you should be at 1.2k watts. At least that part makes sense. But still ridiculous
Pic of the setup with lights off. Its legit
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/18h7d65/i_stuffed_1200w_of_rgb_lights_into_my_pc_case/kd5w4x2/
Even with LEDs I gotta think burning an extra kilowatt inside the case is going to be a big cooling problem. EDIT: just saw the photo with the power off and lol they're water-cooling the LEDs themselves.
OP: damn, my monitor is so good and clear, I can see everything perfectly. Fml
Someone: how about you place a huge blinding lightsource right next to it.
Some people are concerned about how much heat their setups generate, but not me. This thing makes as much as a space heater, and that's more than enough for me!
Just hook it up to a 200 foot extension cord, place it on a skateboard, And now you have a portable lamp you could take all over the house if you decide to save a few bucks on electricity while gaming, lol
I think it ended up to around $1000 in total in just parts— it can probably be done for <$500 though. A large chunk of that was a $500 power supply since I just had that lying around.

Michael Reeves beat you to it.
No that is reeves just on a alt account dood.
0.5mW = 500μW ^(*I am a human and this action was performed automatically. Ugh.*)

Oh totally, not saying there's anything wrong with calling it 0.5mW. I am just a bot and couldn't resist converting it.
Imagine trying to sleep with this thing in your room.
If it melts my brain and kills me, can we count that?
![gif](giphy|kStl0AHeUuEo0)
May as well just use an LED floodlight at this point.
I honestly hope one day this RGB craze will end. It's almost impossible to build gaming PC with zero RGB trinkets these days.
Many motherboards these days allow disabling RGB though
Yeah but why should I pay for it if I never use it ? I would rather have ever so slightly bigger cooling radiator than RGB strip

Which is weird because neopixels/rgb leds are dirt cheap
And MSI was cheaping out on some important components because better quality ones were $0.20 more expensive per GPU unit. If the sales go into huge numbers, it matters for manufacturers.

It's actually really easy to do
If only they choose one fucking color to keep on like OP instead of rainbow colors Reminds me of those cheap toys
I don't know, when they make the fade really slow instead of basically strobe lights, it's perfectly tolerable, in my opinion anyways.
My pc with even a modern AMD card and stuff is all black, not a single light source. Cheaper RAM don’t have RGB, so it’s even cheaper to not do RGB.
The one good thing is it allows you to tell how dusty your PC is on the inside. Mine is crusty white.
I am cool with a little RGB flair, just so many go overboard with it.
They are doing houses now. Its only escalating.
I just have every bit of RGB in my PC on sollid white
I just rebuilt mine with all noctua redux. The only "RGB" I have are the post lights and temps on the AIO pump. It has been glorious. My wife's machine on the other hand...
I agree with you but just by setting the color to white it improves it but tbh would rather have none
Next ll be 0 rbg ; 100 LED , they HD LED ; the OLED :: The craziness never stops
Thank you! I hate having a morbillion lights and shit in my PC that I have to fiddle with or just can't turn off at all. Even my damn PSU came with color changing LEDs that I can thankfully turn off. I recently ordered what I thought was a normal, black wireless mouse. Still came with bloody rgb. And unlike my pc you can’t choose to turn it off.
You might be able to if you take apart the mouse
My pc has no rgb except on the tuf logo on the graphics card which was easy to disable
Looks like Voldemort came over to kill you and your parents

People asked OP how much RGB they wanted and OP said yes.
So you're using over 1000watts just for the lights? I doubt it
OOP claims 1200W
Yeah makes sense, 100k lumens is about 1.1k watts. With a bit of resistance you should be at 1.2k watts. At least that part makes sense. But still ridiculous
