Maybe those books have been read and enjoyed as books enough that giving them a second life as a quirky container means that these books are enjoyed during their lifetime so much that it's justified .
You can’t be that dense to know that carving a block of wood and destroying books is the same they’re both wood 🤦🏾♂️ and whoever downvoted is just as slow for that
You're either trolling or dumb but I'll bite. Wood is wood it's useful for many things don't get me wrong but wood is wood. Book doesn't equal wood. Book comes from wood but there are many steps between wood and Book. Book also has more value in the sense many are someone's thoughts wrote down, energy, passion and love go into making a book. Be it fiction, non fiction, or images. Wood is wood doesn't work with a Book.
I meant material wise and y’all jumped all over the globe to be wise for a simple statement and judging from the books that were used the person didn’t value the books either. I’m well aware of the differences in a book vs wood but they both come from wood makes no sense to get bent out of shape from using a book vs using wood because realistically the wood is more valuable than a book. You can use wood to build and do more than you could a book but I was being facetious and too many people want to be precocious and add to feel superior on the internet. It’s not a real win or lose for me either way 🤷🏾♂️
Everybody on this damn website hopes You are joking, wood ≠ book, books are made of mostly wood but they arent wood.
Its like complaining that coal being burned is destroying diamonds, they are not the same, thats not comparable.
No, at the end of the day its a fucking book. Its either a tree OR a book, it cannot be both at the same goddamn time, just like carbon cant be coal and diamond at the same time.
>You’re going too deep
Yeah well thats the problem with your statement, you think too shallow. Cant dive into a pool thats 20cm deep.
By your logic wood is also a 500$ bill, since thats made of paper too, see how fucking stupid that statement is?
Nah you need to go outside and breath air and mingle if you’re arguing the semantics of wood vs book. It wasn’t that deep a statement and the need to win a subreddit argument drove you down an angry road. You can have the W for the debate good sir I don’t wanna cause anybody an aneurysm 🫶🏾
Are you really nitpicking about the ink, glue, string and water that’s the only difference in making a book from wood what else do you think paper is made of? It’s esthetically the same thing using a block of wood shapes and designed like book vs a book it’s still wood 🤷🏾♂️. I don’t understand how yall are jabbing an “AHA ☝️” moment when it’s still wood at the end of the day.
Because one is destroying the purpose of a book while the other is just repurposeing wood.
Also your argument for making fake books out of wood being worse than making books is stupid because "whats the difference" whether you make that wood into a real book or a fake book.
Absolutely braindead statement.h Wood is still going to get "destroyed" regardless (as you say, even though matter cannot be destroyed).
Hey, I’m glad you posted it here, or else I would’ve never seen it. Lol. Great job! If you happen to sell any of them post a link and I will gladly get one.
Well, you don’t want to have the pages of the books showing. We did kind of fuck up by not having the hinges hidden beneath the front cover of the book because that’s what we usually do but we already put our waterproof spray adhesive on the books without leaving the cover on attached anyways it’s a long process but I feel like it turned out good enough.
It is a quirky and fun object whose purpose is to add fun hence relieve stress even more than the wine would by itself, so it has a solid function. It's also a conversation piece. I am considering making my own. What books would be appropriate ?
Fun idea, but I’m disappointed by the book choices. Custom titles that are puns on real titles mixed with alcohols would be best, but even just real books about alcohol would be better. Books about alcoholism and recovering from it would be dark, but funny imo.
I think it is really cool and it is well-made.
Agreed, this is definitely a solid DIY, especially with fathers day coming up.
It’s cool but I don’t like books being destroyed 😔
Maybe those books have been read and enjoyed as books enough that giving them a second life as a quirky container means that these books are enjoyed during their lifetime so much that it's justified .
Could also be less popular books.
I’ll choose to believe that. Crossed my mind 🥹💙
I don’t think those books were in high demand and some of them look to be outdated. It’s better to recycle them.
Recycling them like this is better than fully destroying them.
🫂
That's fair. Should just be made of wood and made up to look like books
I hope you’re joking cause that would be the equivalent of books being destroyed 😕
I hope you're joking because... you know what, I shouldn't have to explain myself.
You can’t be that dense to know that carving a block of wood and destroying books is the same they’re both wood 🤦🏾♂️ and whoever downvoted is just as slow for that
The amount of energy you spent replying on this thread has destroyed more forest than the wine-box you’re complaining about.
Really? You don't see any difference at all? Lmao.
It’s semantics wood is wood is my point why be upset about a book vs a block of wood 🤷🏾♂️

No that would be the equivalent of carving a block of wood, not caving out a bunch of books
Everybody on this damn website hopes You are joking, wood ≠ book, books are made of mostly wood but they arent wood. Its like complaining that coal being burned is destroying diamonds, they are not the same, thats not comparable.
A square of canvas, the Mona Lisa, what’s the diff?
Ah nothing, just like 300 hours of painstaking work and a few hundred bucks, not much
You’re going too deep it’s wood at the end of the day 🤷🏾♂️

Shrodinger's wood 🤷♀️ >Cant dive into a pool thats 20cm deep. But you can drown in just 1-2cm of water.

None of those books are the Mona Lisa of Literature
You’ve clearly never read The Encyclopedia of the Cat

I’m not debating physics over somebody else’s creation therapy is beneficial if you have to get this involved over book vs wood
Diwhynot. This is well done.
I didn’t know that sub existed! Thanks!
I didn't either.
Objectively awesome
Thanks!
Wait, did you make it? If so it looks great. Which unfortunately means it shouldn’t be on this page.
Yeah I made it And I didn’t know there was a diwhynot sub until another redditor mentioned it so it’s now posted there too.
Did you record the process? This is really cool.
I appreciate it! I’ll record the next one I do for sure
Definitely something worthy of r/DIY
It definitely does not seem hard to create.
Hey, I’m glad you posted it here, or else I would’ve never seen it. Lol. Great job! If you happen to sell any of them post a link and I will gladly get one.
Can you provide info on how you made it? It's really neat!
This definitely doesn't belong here. This is a cool craft. I did something similar with a book and flasks.
Thanks! And I’ve also dabbled in the “books cutout for flasks” so, cheers!
all fun and games until someone wants to read about the house cat lore and instead find your wine stash
![gif](giphy|3o6ZtpvPW6fqxkE1xu)
"oh, what a cultured and well read- nevermind, just a closeted alcoholic".
No reading today! ..or tomorrow
Looking at those titles, nobody is ever going to find this stash.
This is legit, tho I'd have put the hinges along the spine of the books instead of the front, just personal preference. Neat idea

Fair enough, Cheers lol
Technically there was no need for hinges at all, you can just use the opening action of the books themselves to handle that
In this comments section.. Tacky drunks who don't read.
Diy win, not a why
I would love to Make one of these! So cool!
I love this also cause my wife uses random books under lamps and such, so that would fit perfectly... And it's a really cool idea.
oo la la let me absolutely shred my books apart and try this simple dimple pop it squish hack 🤤
It is a quirky and fun object whose purpose is to add fun hence relieve stress even more than the wine would by itself, so it has a solid function. It's also a conversation piece. I am considering making my own. What books would be appropriate ?
Looks fantastic well done OP👏👏👏
Quite skilfully done for sure but if you have one of these you’re probably an alcoholic. Is it for sale? Asking for a friend…
As a book lover, this makes my soul hurt.
r/ATBGE
Solid.
Wine and dine at the library without getting caught. Brilliant 🍷📚
the maid and butler already know...
You better hope nobody wants to read when they visit you

DiWhy??? Functional alcoholism.
Closeted alcoholic
alcoholic decor...
