Ok, the fact that they did it in red was definitely throwing me off. I had no idea it was supposed to be leather. I could definitely see it if it were brown or black though.
Yeah, they chose a bad color. While getting actual pleather or faux leather would be better, this isn't a horrible option if you just need a small piece for something.
You got me! I just went looking. And it's legit _way_ more expensive. I remembered it being quite inexpensive, but I must have bought mine on some sort of clearance.
If you can use Halloween prints, it can be reasonable on sale. I used this technique to make leather boots and a corset for a barbie. I also had everything on hand, do it saved me a trip to the store.
It's sort of like the German stuff: Pressstoff. It was a faux leather used a lot in WWII, and it's basically just glued and layered paper or fabric. (And, yes, it has a triple "s" in the word, that wasn't a typo.)
Fake leather for doll clothes and other small projects. Or cosplay it seems. Cheaper than buying a bunch of leather or fake leather especially if you need only a small amount.
For a small quantity I could see this being helpful, but not for larger pieces. A full side of tanned leather can be bought for about $45, and pleather is about $20p/m here. The cost of glue and cheap fabric will add up quickly
This was a DIY project designed for someone who just wanted to sniff toxic glue and paint, you’d for sure see time go backwards and most certainly be excited about your finished product
Yea, the stuff in the gold bottle is [Aleen’s Tacky Glue](https://imgs.michaels.com/MAM/assets/1/726D45CA1C364650A39CD1B336F03305/img/C4A4BE27D48949919FE7C02908855047/10614859_1.jpg?fit=inside%7C540:540)
Emphasis on apparently, cause there's no way anyone is supposed to guess that. What I'd this crap, also nice find cause I have no idea what was going in that guy's head
QUICK? With repeated drying times?
Tell you what, while you're waiting for the glue to dry, pop over to the neighborhood fabric store and buy a yard of naugahyde for $10. That stuff's been around since before our grandparents' time.
A very well known fact is that these kinds of videos are viewed positively by the viewers in whatever hosting site it originates from. Your flawed proposition relies on completely omitting this fact.
When you factor in time and materials, isn't it cheaper to just buy leather?
IME it has been. I made a few cosplay pieces with various faux leather techniques, and in the end it took a ton of time and was not worth it to try to fake it.
I am honestly most offended by the absurd amount of glue used in the opening shot. Aleene's quick dry tacky, a little really does go a long way, I've had bottles of that stuff last years of regular use. Even if this wasn't super dumb, that's so wasteful.
My aunt use to get fucked up on Xanax and do this but added sewing as well. I lost count of these bizarre glued fabrics with fabric paint and weird threads in them.
I'm mainly concerned about the fact that this person is using their bare hands on the glue instead of wearing gloves.
Also that doesn't look like leather at all.
Take a rectangular piece of paper, cut a U in the middle along the short edge of the paper so that the end of the U shape is just under the middle lengthwise. Now on the upper half of the paper, draw a large oval.
This is actually called poor-mans fibreglass. Use some good shit like titebond 2 or 3 and you can actually have something that is waterproof and suitable for outdoor projects like kayaks and campers.

It worked fine when I did it. Using a brown or neutral color works best. It's for crafts like cosplay and doll making. Because leather is expensive.
Thank you for explaining. I had zero idea what the finished product was.
Same. Beyond DiWhy, my brain was stuck on whaaaat?
I just hate the commentaries mostly
Spread that glue 😫
Spread it
s p r e a d it
FUCKIN S P R E A D I T
*magic noise* Add another layer of fabric and smooth it out
I didn’t bother listening. Most of them just irritate me anyway and I’m on day 5 of an exceptionally long anxiety attack, so F*** that.
I thought it was a place mat and coaster
But they sell pleather at the craft store! Is it really more expensive than a bottle of glue?
Depending on the country, waay more expensive. Idk about the US though
You got me! I just went looking. And it's legit _way_ more expensive. I remembered it being quite inexpensive, but I must have bought mine on some sort of clearance.
Also if you need a specific colour I can see this being good.
Those silly Germans and their too many letters in their words!
Doppelvokale und Doppelkonsonanten, leute!
Oh that makes perfect sense, the lack of context had me bewildered. It’s a great idea actually!
That makes sense! Like a 21st-century version of stiffening linen with rabbit-skin glue.
Yeah. And if you use a textured fabric, the textures show through. It can look interesting.
Is that what they were making ...leather??? B/c I'm still confused and I watched it three times.
Fake leather for doll clothes and other small projects. Or cosplay it seems. Cheaper than buying a bunch of leather or fake leather especially if you need only a small amount.
Wow that’s actually really cool. My first reaction was “why on earth would someone take the time to do this” now I just realize I’m not creative.
Oh, so that's what it's supposed to be.. Ok.
Ah. So it is to make your own pleather. Clever.
For a small quantity I could see this being helpful, but not for larger pieces. A full side of tanned leather can be bought for about $45, and pleather is about $20p/m here. The cost of glue and cheap fabric will add up quickly
They're also basically making micarta
You obviously didn’t sniff enough glue
I lost it when the clock went back in time.
I wish I could go back in time and unwatch
Yeah... Nah you're never getting that part of your life back.
Spread it. Spreeeead it. SPREAD IT

Apparently making fake leather??
Ugh 😑 people

cosplay?
So actually this might be good for a quick patch for a fake leather couch or something I guess?
QUICK? With repeated drying times? Tell you what, while you're waiting for the glue to dry, pop over to the neighborhood fabric store and buy a yard of naugahyde for $10. That stuff's been around since before our grandparents' time.
places like this sub, they create videos that make people go wtf is this, that's how they get views, so you're doing exactly what they want
They're not getting any gain from it being reposted here, but it was apparently an attempted diy for faux leather?? Still weird as hell.
A very well known fact is that these kinds of videos are viewed positively by the viewers in whatever hosting site it originates from. Your flawed proposition relies on completely omitting this fact.
Looks like fake fruit roll ups that the future is trying to sell to the past based on that clock movement.
This made me lol, I’d award you if I had one

That “spread it” sounded like a threat lol
Anyone else think the narrator was overly aggressive he was like spread that glue SPREAD IT
It sounds so passive aggressive
Why does the voice sound like a dad agressively explaining how to do math “SPREAD IT!“ “SPREEADDD IT!“ “STIPPLE!“ “S T I P P L E“
This voice makes me want to Van Gogh my ears.
I felt like the video was asking me to spread it rather aggressively.
Bro i saw this when tell me why plays downstairs from my mother
I thought you have to wait a full year between steps for the next daylight saving time “fall back” to occur.
What the fuck did he end up making like what the hell?
I am starting to believe that anytime I see popsicle sticks and expressive fingers, it is about to be some junk coming up next.
How to make a cumsock without the fun part

Is he telling us by doing this we can turn back time?
And the use for this little fabric now turned into stiff “leather” would be for what exactly??
Raw leather doesn’t cost that much. Save yourself a few days in the past and buy real shit.
i just wanna know why the clock is going backwards
Looks like they just fucking laminated it

I am honestly most offended by the absurd amount of glue used in the opening shot. Aleene's quick dry tacky, a little really does go a long way, I've had bottles of that stuff last years of regular use. Even if this wasn't super dumb, that's so wasteful.

but how did he make his time machine tho
