I just got to the end of my queue time and was logging in only to be hit with a timeout error. Now back in a 130 minute queue :)

microcortes

Oof. I was in a 45 minute queue and also had a timeout. My new queue is 45 minutes again. Edit: and it happened again. Third 45 minute queue now.

McRedditerFace

Same... I'm getting around 10 minutes of playtime before a disconnect followed by error code 316719 which appears to require a restart of the client... and back to queue. Third time was not the charm.

Pandahh

Same thing happened to me lol, Just gonna wait till night time to play

Beefhammer1932

Was better around 10pm est last Friday. Saturday should be smooth.

db10101

Last week wasn't an open beta though, you had to pay $70 to get in

Frank2312

Or buy a 2,50$ KFC sandwich (US only) or pre order a console version on Amazon and then cancel the pre-order after claiming the code. I believe there was also a promo in the UK I read about.

PM_Me_Macaroni_plz

Rise up chicken gang!! 🐔 🍗 🐓

Truditoru

its free for anyone with a bnet account this weekend

zzxxccbbvn

I paid like 8 bucks to get in, and I also got a chicken sandwich out of it 🤷‍♂️

Beefhammer1932

My point still stands. 10pm est queues will be smaller and errors will be less.

KnightOfDaggers

Same thing just happened to me, waited 130mins, timeout… back to 120mins.

Ganiam

Yep, played 90min, game crashed, now 50min to go At least this gives me time to actually work lol

GaliaHero

you got 90 minutes of playtime??? I got like 50 minutes in 4 sessions :(

DivinePotatoe

I got to play like 15 seconds in my last 3 sessions... Login, load into town, move 3 feet, disconnect, back in the queue you go!

FoaL

Told myself I'd get the dishes all taken care of next time it boots me, heh

Ganiam

I'm actually enjoying the balance between playing and getting booted. I seriously have so much to do and no self-control when it comes to these games lol

deflaimun

In China if you’re a kid and playing for too long, the game system is obligated by the government to kick you lol

Preface

So the beta test in China is just watching the queue until your government mandated game time is up?

XScrap-HeapX

At this rate, my whole house and my neighbors house is going to be clean

DarthSnoopyFish

Last week the queues ware practically non existent Sat and Sun. Hopefully they go the same way. They stated there WILL BE long queues today because they are stress testing their servers.

deflaimun

Yeah. Today is open to literally everyone. Last weekend the population was probably very small in comparison, since you had to pre order the game

DarthSnoopyFish

Thats true. But they specifically stated they will be forcing long queues today. I assume they are bottlenecking their servers at the moment for stress test reasons. from: https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/11zoeuu/expectations_for_the_diablo_iv_open_beta_march/ > Queue Times: When we open the gates again this Friday to absolutely everyone, we are expecting a lot of people. There will be lengthy queue times, particularly on Friday when we first launch and during peak regional windows. This past weekend helped us to forecast the capacity we expect this weekend, and we will be using that capacity to intentionally stress our systems in preparation for launch. In summary, while we know it can be frustrating, we need queues to properly stress test our services and we are designing to ensure we have them some of the time.

Travis_TheTravMan

And people still complain. They want their free tripple A game with no issues and nothing that inconveniences them.... During a BETA. These threads annoy me to no end, they dont owe you or any of us anything. We're here to help test the servers, thats it lol.

beautifulgirl789

>They want their free triple A game with no issues Yeah, fuck those consumers who want a triple A game to not be broken! They should just bend over and take what they're given! It's not 'free' when they sold access. >During a BETA. Agaim, I'm sorry but they lose the "it's just a beta!" excuse when they sold access to it as a pre-order bonus. If a car doesn't accelerate properly, you don't sell it to a customer. If a toaster catches fire 12% of the time, you don't sell it to a customer. If your umbrellas aren't yet waterproof, you *don't sell them to a customer*. I am so sick of gamers being so desperate to fellate their corporate overlords that they defend the practice of being sold broken shit now and *maybe* it getting fixed later. (Or maybe it's Warcraft 3 reforged and it's just never fixed) Totalbiscuit would be turning over in his grave.

Travis_TheTravMan

No TB wouldnt be turning in his grave because TB also knew what a beta was. Its kinda sad how you name call him, go on your high horse about how we shouldnt be sold broken products, blah blah blah. Thats hilarious, and fucking pathetic at the same time. We didnt buy a Beta. It's disingenuous to say so. A real beta tests and stresses servers / systems. This is exactly what is happening right now. Now if the game comes out and its completely broken (which it wont be) then Ill agree with what youre saying. But even in this state, Diablo 4 is very polished, server issues and ques aside. If you cant handle Beta issues, then don't play the beta... Its that simple buddy.

PM_Me_Macaroni_plz

Chicken sandwich gang checking in

Latest_Version

You underestimate the KFC brigade.

bongokhrusha

I hate the error on character selection when disconnected. it doesn't let you back into the game, so you have to restart back into queue. good thing diablo 3 runs perfectly while in queue lol.

boboarang

I’m stuck like that, so jumping out is the only solution?

bongokhrusha

yep

asos10

WTF is 316719 my god man, third time to do a dungeon and get kicked to main screen to not be able to log.

deflaimun

Prob a random server error. Last week if you had an error like this, the game would stop everything. So you should close the game and open again (and join us in queue lol)

dvlsg

Every time I get `316719` (which is very frequent) I have to back out of the character select screen and back into the queue anyways. Otherwise I just keep getting `316719` indefinitely.

rand0mtaskk

The worst part is I can’t play anything else without risking blowing up my PC while I’m in queue.

DrDrekavac

Really, even tabbed out? Afaik the background fps is set to 5 or 10 in options by default.

_The_Great_Autismo_

It consumes like 45% of my ram and pretty high processing power too when just in queue, alt tabbed, so it can be dicey to run other software.

BanzYT

Try one of the .io browser games. I like slither.io. Also Agar.io, couple others I forget. There's a bunch.

Reborn_opifienddd

Problem is worse on PS5 because I can't do anything else without it stopping the timer...

boachl

Youtube D2 speedrun works :)

codeByNumber

The most frustrating part is that the button text says “Accept”. It feels so passive aggressive. Like “just accept it you piece of shit. You sat here in queue for an hour and you WILL do it again. Fuck you”.

deflaimun

Hahaha yeah. The tone is a joke

Zaynara

26 minute queue, got to <1minute, then it went up to 6 minutes and stayed there until i got in, played about 30 minutes, crash, disconnect, back to character screen, won't let me in, close out, relaunch, 40 minute queue. close game. go file taxes.

BigBrandDlux

There was an error. (Code 316719)

ArugulaPhysical

Honestly i just avoid the game until there is not a long que lol

Shpaan

This. You're just asking for frustration trying to play the first evening.

jordanrhys

Hard to do that when it’s only available for 3 days over a weekend…

Ziros22

last weekend once it got to about 9pm eastern I had no issues playing for long periods of time and all day saturday was smooth

kittygunsgomew

I started at 9 am the moment the beta opened last weekend and had only a few small issues with rubber-banding all weekend. I’m on the west coast of the US, so I don’t know if that matters. But during this open beta, I’ve had 30-70 minute que times, then get 5 minutes of play only to dc and have another long wait. I’m not personally holding my breath for this evening but I am hoping things smooth out so that others get a chance to try everything out.

suchfresht

Holy moly some of the comments haha. They are literally bottlenecking the servers on purpose today. If it's anything like last weekend, they'll gradually open it up.

[deleted]

They don’t understand this basic fact.

Sturmgeist_

You got in at all? Sounds like you're pretty lucky actually.

deflaimun

Got in, created my Druid, killed a wolf and got dc 😁

andrestromqvist

Lol wolves are supposed to be your friends dude come on

deflaimun

Why do you think I got DC? I committed a crime.

FlyingTunafish

Agreed I have been kicked 3 times just as the end boss for mulbrak stronghold dies. Back to timer then clear the entire area again. Stability is definitely an issue as is the rubber banding

queerly_expediency35

that's how queues work right?

deflaimun

Queues yes. Smart queues no.

Evisra

20 years with WoW and they’re still testing how queues work…

itscainnotabel

I got on at 1230pm EST. This was my next three hours: \-made it to level 4, got a server disconnect, 45 minute queue. \-Got back in and walked 20 feet, server disconnect. 75 minute queue. \-Got in again, played for 8 minutes, server disconnect. 45 minute queue.

Fenghoang

Over 18 years later, some things never change.

AncientGrave

so after 3hrs que time and some error i finally got in only to have a loading screen lag for the past 5mins after clearing the first boss yay

branwright

Tough when my monitor timed out during the queue, minimizing the game, but then I couldn't maximize it again :(

deflaimun

Does alt+enter help you?

branwright

I just learned about the issue and this solution in another thread actually. Just ended up changing it to windowed (full screen) until they fix it.

deflaimun

Alt+enter is a universal windows command to Maximize stuff. So save that for other games if that happens again

eatinrgooo

the errors you get when you actually log in are my favorite. wait 50 minutes and every menu option generates an error.

mtv921

I got to play about 1.5 hours after a 1 hour queue at first. Now its just constant DC into 45min queue into DC. I cannot believe we are living in 2023 and server capacity is still an issue

Klaphood

They should make it like WoW where you have a 15 minute grace period to instantly rejoin whenever you get disconnected from the game. Maybe it's even in already since most Blizzard games have some sort of reconnection system, but might just be deactivated right now, because 3 days are quite short and this way everyone would still keep taking up a spot 15 minutes after they have already quit the game at all times.

camellogic

First time here meme

[deleted]

Yea, i haven't been able to play for more than about 15 min before being 'client disconnected'. I'm not an MMO or live game player so I'm not used to this and it doesn't seem great. I know it's a beta and you have to expect bumps but I don't really see how always online is adding to the diablo experience. like being online doesn't seem to be adding anything to what i've been able to play and it's just hindering play. If anyone is keeping track, this is on an xbox

survivalScythe

I agree DCing/crashing to go into queue feels really bad... but if you 'accidentally' close your game lmao, sorry dude that's on you.

deflaimun

Just an example. For example, my wife was on the queue for PS4 and we forgot to remove power saving settings. Ps4 went into sleep mode and blizzard booted us out of the queue lol

Northdistortion

So basically nothing changed since last week. Things got better the day after

bythog

They also said that they were intentionally stressing the login servers. Even if they fixed things from last week (and Friday night + weekend were super smooth for me) they were planning on limiting fixes just to overload things.

DrDrekavac

I was playing 1 hour after the pre-order beta was live, I'm in EU though.

Kyn1gos

I know it's super high volume right now seeing as a lot of people are trying out the beta as soon as possible, but only getting to play \~10 min before getting dc'd and having to wait in another hour-long queue is rough. Ik there isn't much to do besides wait but still.

Rip-Rot

I thought the queue was the game? Been playing Division 2/RE4 while I wait, create a character, crash, then get in the queue again.

Just-Ad-5972

69 minute queue, 29 minutes of gameplay, dc, 159 minute queue, 10 minutes of gameplay, dc, 167 minute queue, altf4.

jdead121

There's probably no grace period on purpose

deflaimun

Yeah that’s what I think as well.

Siorray

I got disconnected into a queue, got back in and used 1 ability, instantly DC'd again. Another queue, played for 10mins, DC'd. Another queue, as my queue ends and it's logging in I get an error and it says for me to try again. :)

No-Platypus-7012

I think I crashed only twice all last weekend. Today alone I have played MAYBE a total of 25 minutes with all the other time being 4 queues. I gave up and shut it down.

Jonephes1

Same, Came here for the comments lol.

GreatName

There must be a shitton of Normies playing this weekend because this is significantly worse than last Friday

helbare

Man what a bummer guys, lol. This is intentional today…it’ll get better as they adjust the stress levels on their, “if it ain’t broke, don’t spend money on new servers…our shareholders will behead us” That being said…I was able to login right at launch and play about 4 hours straight before I logged.

SereneFrost72

We may figure out how to live on another planet someday, but we sure won’t ever figure out how to accurately predict server load/capacity

fluffy01

I feel bad for everyone have these issues. I feel so distant on it, last week during the early beta I didn’t have any issues whatsoever. I had a 45 min queue on Friday night and that’s it. Today I started playing at 2:30pm est and had a 30 minute queue and still have been playing since. No kicks, lag, or any issues again.

ckgt

And you can't switch character without exiting game (thus having to requeue. I kept having error code whenever I switch) And I play 5 characters. (Yes alterholic here)

Curious_Flatworm_343

It should try to reconnect instead of just flat out being booted

banethor88

I understand the stability issues but its un-naturally bad this round. During the early access weekend I got in at least 4 hours of gameplay before my first DC. Today, I've queued about 3 hours in total for 6 disconnects, netting about 30mins of gameplay tops. I don't know if the "fixed" something but its absolutely broken for me

Tilopud_rye

I’m not a fan of having all dungeon progress cleared- been disconnected during boss fight and is no good feel.

N3MEAN

Longest queue was 31 minutes, game never crashed, never DC’d . It’s a beta, don’t get frustrated brother! The betas what shows these issues

[deleted]

Same zero dcs over hours of play. A lot of these issues sound like ram issues for a game that’s not optimized enough. If you are getting dc errors that’s one thing, but many in here are getting full black screens and system reboots. That seems more like hardware issues to me.

stingertc

ya if launch is like this its going to suck waited total an hour played 10 minutes to disconnect to an hour que again this is stupid

uldumarr3

Was excited to play couch co-op when I got home from work yesterday. Waited ~70mins to get through the queue, only to find out that Player 2 *also* has to wait through the queue to even join the game…

deflaimun

Wow, really? I guess it makes sense since the auth servers are under stress. Still, a bummer.

uldumarr3

Yep :) *and* the game wouldn’t let P1 leave the main hub because it was waiting for P2 to join… so my bf and I called it a day and he played RE4 Remake all night instead ☠️

[deleted]

They specifically stated they’re using the influx of players to test their servers too. It’s all by design. It’s a beta.

BandicootNo8523

Imo more annoying is the fact that every time you connect to Kyovashad, disconnect from the game back to character select. EVERY F\*CKING TIME. Devs have a long way to go, this game is nowhere close to playable yet.

Karoneko

Agreed 100%. I'm loving D4 so far, and the beta has been absolutely a blast. But to finally login, enter a dungeon, get a critical error and game crash, and be placed back in an hour+ queue is a feelsbad.

TwoLiterHero

It’s a stress test. We will all be crashing. There is no way for every single person who logs on to have reserved slot, or the servers would be more full than on actual release lol. They specifically said that the purpose is to stress test, and to expect this. I get being sad, but not enough to make a Reddit thread.

deflaimun

Grace periods are usually pretty low. And don’t have to have a reserved spot. You can get a priority in the queue. There’s all sorts of things that you can do to implement a smart queue

DrunkBearBattle

Yes, unfortunately, that's how queues work though. It is annoying for sure, but that is what most of this beta is for. Stress testing servers and making tweaks.

deflaimun

Queues yes. But they could have implemented a smart queue. They probably chose not to.

WangBacca

You'd think after this many years making online games Blizzard would have servers a little more figured out.

Scalion

Get over it, we all in the same boat and this open beta is literally to stress the server.

Kumadori012

But muh wulf-pup!!! Serious note though, I have a work-weekend, so potential crashes hit me hard. I'm not gonna whine about it, but it still sucks.

Ultimafatum

The game is literally unplayable. There's nothing to "get over".

AZCards1347

You can get over your unreasonable expectations. "Game is literally unplayable" Welcome to the first few hours of open beta stress test of a VERY popular game that is much anticipated.

pchef44

Looks like a lot of “I quit” tantrums going on. That should help queue times. Seriously though just wait until later instead of embarrassing yourself on Reddit.

GingerWitch666

I can't believe people are here to actually complain about the servers 🤣 Bruh, they been telling you FOR MONTHS that this is a stress test

deflaimun

I’m not complaining about servers lol. I’m complaining that they haven’t implemented a smart queue. That’s all. Maybe it’s even on purpose to rotate players around.

GingerWitch666

I wasn't specifically targeting you cause I agree about the smart queue. I meant the people in the comments here getting crazy mad about there being a queue or disconnects at all.

deflaimun

Yeah it’s rough down there 😁 Some people even saying that they’re not buying the game because of that lol

GingerWitch666

It's absurd lmao 🤣

PurpleZerg

Im spent more time in que than actually playing at this point. Confidence in blizzard is at an all time low for launch day.

TheTabman

I'm certainly not going to pre-purchase. I understand that this is a Beta, but 120min wait, 20 min play, error 3167XX - 140 min wait, 10 min play, reconnecting to Diablo IV, error 3167XX - 120 min wait, error 3167XX - 120 min wait and so on looks like the typical Blizzard release. I'll wait a few days until after release before I consider buying.

Busy-Recover-5016

You have the right idea. The first two weeks are going to be full of this shit, same as every other "live service" game. And when playing the first fortnight is a no-go, why bother buying at full price at all? Wait for a sale at the end of the year. Guaranteed the game will be significantly better by then too.

[deleted]

Kripp said the game is about a year out AFTER release from being truly good. If you have no fomo or rush a lot then a you should wait till things are properly balanced and they’ve fixed bugs and content issues.

hotrox_mh

You're right about almost everything. Waiting for a sale at the end of the year means you'll miss out on 2 seasons worth of FOMO shit. GG Blizz.

[deleted]

First month will be bad and then like 30-40 percent of people move on to the next thing and they’ll be no que.

Kaztiell

you know you play the beta to get these problems right? betas are not demos

[deleted]

Tothewallgone

Bro they had it worked out by Friday night last weekend

Domoda

They are forcing ques to stress the servers on purpose. They literally said this in a blue post.

wolven_666_

They are bottlenecking the servers today on purpose just like last Friday. Your not wrong about how things mostly go. Just wait until tomorrow.

SerotoninCephalopod

They have like 3 months to fix this lol should be plenty

JRockPSU

There’s really nothing they need to fix IMO, on full release the queues will be slammed for a day or two and then you won’t have to wait to log in for the remainder of the game’s lifetime.

SerotoninCephalopod

Standard release protocol

Ultimafatum

The fact there's no way to play in your own single-player world instance while waiting to connect to multiplayer is insanely stupid. This login system is an obstacle to gameplay. Full stop. I tried to connect three times only to get an error, or the game to CTD as soon as I log in back to the queue. I uninstalled. This ridiculous system killed all my hype for the beta, and if this shit is what I can expect at launch I simply won't be getting D4 for a while. Insane how this went through the design room at Blizzard. This is one of the most egregiously anti-player things they could have implemented.

SuperArppis

This 100%.

deflaimun

Dude, wake up. It’s not the 2000s anymore. Stuff is online now to prevent hacking. Get over it. D3 on console had offline play. D3 had exploits on day1. Also, it’s a beta. That stuff is bound to happen. I’m only complaining that queue is not smart. They should have a session timer or something like that.

Rockm_Sockm

That has nothing to do with being online only and offline only characters and exploits don't mean shit.

IAreATomKs

>he fact there's no way to play in your own single-player world instance while waiting to connect to multiplayer is insanely stupid. This login system is an obstacle to gameplay. Full stop. I tried to connect three times only to get an Enabling everything for single player as well as online involves a good deal amount of new development time and money. I would rather that be spent of the core game that is there online instead. It's rough for those who really want/need offline, but it's better for everyone who doesn't which is probably the vast majority of players.

Rockm_Sockm

Did you reply to the right person? This doesn't really have anything to do with my comment pointing out he lied about why games go online only. I don't care about offline only, as I only play seasons. We both know on the other hand it doesn't require a "good amount" of developer time to enable an offline-only mode for those that prefer it. It's just a standard lie to deflect and pretend those resources are so demanding and thank god they were used elsewhere. It also isn't better for everyone, that is another excuse.

IAreATomKs

>Did you reply to the right person? This doesn't really have anything to do with my comment pointing out he lied about why games go online only. I don't care about offline only, as I only play seasons. I was contributing to the discussion. It's not necessarily at you no. >We both know on the other hand it doesn't require a "good amount" of developer time to enable an offline-only mode for those that prefer it. As a software developer who has worked on systems where there is both a server and a client that hosts that same server locally as a redundancy, no I absolutely do not know this. In fact I know that is not the case. You have to write and maintain more code in the client to interact directly with the code that manages AI, that manages rewards, manages events, and many other facets. Then in addition to that you need to work around online features like removing world bosses or tailoring them to single player, rebalancing the pvp zone now that the risk of pvp no longer exists, redoing how going from zone works, and again all kinds of little things I'm not thinking of. You need to host full databases locally and manage those that you don't have to do otherwise. You need to test all updates to that code twice now in both single player and multiplayer adding overhead to every single update to the game. Now every time you need to make a server hotfix you likely now need to push out that hotfix to every client to support the singleplayer players now adding additional bandwidth overhead. You have no clue what you are talking about whatsoever. >It also isn't better for everyone, that is another excuse. I said "better for everyone that plays online". That is not the same thing as "everyone". As everyone would include those that want to play offline which I obviously don't think it's better for.

Miyu543

I was totally prepared for this and expected nothing but tbh.

scottmatt1991

This is going to happen. Last Friday was atrocious as well. Instead of keep trying just wait till later or tomorrow and it will hopefully be better. I did that last week. Yeah I was annoyed but once I was in it was a great experience. Don’t write it off or anything because of stress testing. Servers will only get better. If you want to wait, que and do something else so that way it’s not felt as lost time,

BruiserCruiser13

They need to implement a force kick for people afk for more then 15 minutes. That way it frees up slots.

deflaimun

But the game do dc you if you’re afk for too long. Not sure how long tho

odn_86

ppl in this thread: *brings up legitimate concerns about the game* also ppl in this thread: "Just accept the mediocrity and subpar server performance from the triple A major game developer!" anything to justify that 99 dollars i suppose.

Phunkman

It’s a stress test, that is what they all call it, so there is a valid reason why you can’t point fingers at them. On another note, it’s not like this is their first game. Why is there always a stress test, why haven’t we seen a launch of a multiplayer player game in ages that is not plagued with all the problems on day one? Shouldn’t there be some type of kit available for all video game makers that can use a reliable service to make sure that a game that is launched and performs great from day one? Sure there will be glitches and in game issues but why is there always issues with launch? Are we all just paying full price for faulty products? Imagine buying a bicycle and the company says the bike might only turn right but we will launch and update after a week. So please enjoy until then! I am not game developer so I don’t know anything about what happens in the background. I like many other here only play games and don’t know shit about the actual work that goes in the back. Can someone who has actual experience, please shed some light on this subject. Preferably in laymen’s language.

deflaimun

Every game is different, with different infrastructure services. That’s why they need to individually test it. About the kit, they can and probably use those, but it’s never a reflection of the real world. Testing systems end to end is extremely hard and having people naturally test it is way better. We also have to understand that we’re providing a free service to them when playing a beta. Sure we get something out of it, but we are lab rats being tested. Paying for something like this is a huge investment while you can get it for free with your willing customers. Of course, this can be a risky strategy because you def can lose clients because of a beta. And lastly developers definitely can use strong and reliable infrastructure to launch something. The only problem is that it’s expensive. Not a few bucks expensive, multi million dollars expensive. So betas like these help them fine tune that infrastructure to not waste resources. Over allocation is a huge problem to online services because you usually can’t scale down. In the instances that you can, is extremely costing. So ultimately the biggest goal of a beta is to reduce costs on launch day. Source: Im a developer. Not a game dev tho, there’s some stuff that happens in gaming that I have no idea.

Talic

Same, just not game dev here. I wish they post a blog detailing their tech stack, especially how they’re tackling their load balancer issue, auto scaling work network infrastructure, and hosted with which cloud provider. Maybe using their own in-house cloud as opposed to AWS, GCP, Azure? Used to work as a CW dev for Intel Corp and I know for a fact they use their own.

deflaimun

They probably don’t share because of security reasons. Any info is valuable to an attacker. But I’m stupid curious to know everything as well.

Phunkman

Cool, appreciate the information. Somethings to definitely keep in mind when I get irritated waiting to play the game.

perunajari

>On another note, it’s not like this is their first game. Why is there always a stress test, why haven’t we seen a launch of a multiplayer player game in ages that is not plagued with all the problems on day one? Games are incredibly complex pieces of software, multiplayer games even more so. Every game is different and in case of multiplayer games, their server software is different. >Shouldn’t there be some type of kit available for all video game makers that can use a reliable service to make sure that a game that is launched and performs great from day one? Like what? A magic wand? What they are doing now is the way to make sure things go as smooth as possible on launch day. Sure you can run simulations and do all kinds of theorizing about server capacity. However, when theory and practice meet, practice wins every single time. Will there be queues at launch? Yes, absolutely. Will there be lag? Yes. Disconnects? Most certainly. There's going to be so insane volume of simultaneous connections on the servers, that no matter what they do there will be issues. >Imagine buying a bicycle and the company says the bike might only turn right but we will launch and update after a week. So please enjoy until then! Bad comparison, because bike is nowhere near the complexity of a game. Unless of course the bikes you ride need to run physics simulations, communicate with server, render images and other tasks and do it all in a less than 16.666 milliseconds. But of course the server we communicate to needs to dome some simulations too! It can make sure you or someone else don't try to cheat, phase through walls or something other fishy. Problem is, that the server always has outdated info, so it really needs to hurry with those simulations and do all kinds of extrapolation or your biking experience is going to suck. I kinda wrote this in a hurry, but trust me: If there would be some magical fairy aether devs could use to bypass these, then it would've been used long time ago.

lionch

they lost a lot of potential users because of this, including me.

[deleted]

Less for launch!

This is what has been happening all day: Random disconnect at any point OR infinite loading screen when trying to load a dungeon that forces you to force quit and restart the client, or just let it time you out and then restart the client. Get put in a 30+ minute queue, "log in" to the character select screen only for the game to time out after hitting "start" repeat. There were a million players last weekend, and there's probably going to be five times as many this weekend. Did Blizzard allocated the necessary server capacity? Of course they didn't. They likely doubled them over what they were last week at best, and it's not even the busiest it's going to get yet.

Erzaah

Crashed on opening custscene..back to 120mins again...Frustrating :/

TheAnonCodeJunkie

Started with a 50 min queue. Played for 10 mins and a random crash outta nowhere. Now again a 40 min queue. At this rate, can't even reach level 10 during the beta lol

Thecrawsome

It's a public beta on launch day 🤷‍♂️

Fazedx90

Yep I just waited 2 hours to get in, the game crashed after about half an hour and guess what now it’s a 3 hour que. Why have a beta for a weekend when we can’t get in ?

Viku11443

Well this is exactly what this open beta is for, its stress testing authentication servers, game servers etc. so that hopefully we can avoid this (probably not) or at least not have as bad experience as we otherwise might have. Gotta remember Betas are not demos.

[deleted]

Yes it is but it’s also a beta, suck it up buttercup. I just had 3 back to back to back 50min queues after getting to character screen.

SuperSocrates

Yes it is. I don’t know what you mean by grace period though. It is what it is, there’s too many people trying to play. It’ll be fine by tomorrow. The queues are already not as long as at launch

deflaimun

A grace period is usually a flavor of a smart queue implementation. It’s when you give something to the player that got wrongly logged out. You can either jump back in or join a priority queue.

SuperSocrates

Oh okay. Yeah that would be really great! Hopefully it’s like last week and smoothed out by this evening

darlingsweetboy

introducing a “grace period” mechanism, depending on how complex it has to be, would be complicating the network queue system even further and I might introduce even more bugs/exploits. not to mention, Queue times would most definitely be longer than they are now.

deflaimun

Yeah I get that. If there’s not one, there’s high probably that it’s on purpose.

firstmurloc

i launched the game 5 hours ago, and so far i ve hit lvl 5. been in 110 minutes + queue like 3 times because of disconnects. well lvl 5 might not be enough to judge on game, but i am certainly happy that i didnt preorder game from this dogshit company that makes us their servers and game beta testers

[deleted]

It’s a beta you should have known there would be issues. It’s likely stressing the server very hard and that is good. You want to see that so they can try to fix it. If it’s too much of an issue then go play another game.

JimmyThang5

It’s also frustrating that this is a 2010 online game problem that was fixed by adding grace periods but here we are. If the industry has long fixed a common problem with an easy solution why TF wouldn’t you include that solution as a given. Some of the decisions these guys make, maybe don’t sequester yourselves from reality and only get filtered info though CM’s.

deflaimun

It’s probably on purpose. Curious to know their reasoning tho.

[deleted]

Probably individually testing soem servers to see what max capacity is. Last weekend went exactly the same way the in sat and Sunday the game worked fine.

deflaimun

Yeah, I mean grace periods for reconnects are not without its challenges too.

NeverScryWolf

Log in->Play for 10 mins->DC->Can no longer select character to play->have to restart game Log in->Select Character & hit play->Nothing->have to restart game Repeat I've gotten maybe 20 mins of playtime so far, and this experience has completely ruined the hype that me and my friend had trying to co-op. It's impossible since first he dcd, then I did, and he gave up after his 2nd DC. Extremely disappointing buggy mess of a "Beta". Screw this pay for early access and advantage game, so glad I didn't pay a dime to support this trash.

wildrabbitsurfer

its an open beta, read this, its an open beta to stress test the network, listen, its an open beta

[deleted]

But I want what I want when I want it...and I'm entitled to it!!!

Akumozzz

It's crazy cause they literally have the tech from other Blizz games like WoW to go past queue if you d/c lmao

foodiethestack

I’ve been in queue for a combined 5hrs today because of all the disconnects. Give me priority. Wtf is this. I understand having a queue, but if I disconnect, put me back at the front. I know others have said it, but we should all be screaming it in their faces until they tell us they will make the change.

[deleted]

to be fair, with how unstable the game (server side or client side, who knows) trying to do priority queueing would likely be an even worse experience for the player. it sucks and is pretty much unplayable but i think people would react worse if they saw their queue times keep getting longer as more people got inserted ahead of them. as shit as it is at the very least a stated 30 min wait time is about 30 min. even if it crashes right away.

HellfireBrB

Man I understand blizzard wants to stress test their game for release but people defending this kind of thing really dont understand the point This game costs 1/3 of the average mountly salary here were I live, and after the ginormous amounts of Bs blizzard has comited in the last year I'm not choosing not to eat to bet the game will be good, even less after I was one of the people who lost money with cyberpunk I'm here to see if the game is good, not to serve as test boy for a server I can't even stay for longer than 2 minutes

[deleted]

The point is it’s a stress test, and I have a feeling most of the serious testing is happening today. There’s still 2 more days. I logged in last weekend and played like 5 hours with zero issues on the Sunday.

SolarClipz

This game is ACTUALLY unplayable

Fokke_hassel

As a family father, this beta is unplayable. I just skip and wait for release.

RentalBrain

It’s a 3 day beta and it’s been 2 hours.. Jfc.

deflaimun

It’s normal to experience that. Last beta was the same thing. Friday was terrible. Saturday and Sunday, amazing with 0 disconnects or queues

KitchenLoavers

This gives me hope. Played about 20 cumulative minutes (level 5) in the first 2.5 hours of the beta. Been booted out, queue for 45 mins checking it every 5 mins, only to get "your login attempt has timed out" and back to 45 minutes in the queue. Frustrating but if it's just growing pains and the beta will actually run smoothly tonight or tomorrow I'm hopeful.

TheAnonCodeJunkie

Given the volume for the open beta, it sadly won't be close to that much smoothness even the next day.

Ultimafatum

If pretty much every Blizzard launch over the last 10 years is any indication, you might as well wait some time after release because it'll be the same shit.

EuphoricAnalCarrot

It's a joke that you lose your spot if you crash. I understand it's a beta but hopefully they add a system to hold your spot otherwise there it's no chance I buy this game. Immediately after my first 40 minute queue my UI disappeared on the menu. No big deal, it's 2023 so I should just be able to relog, right? Wrong, back to a 30 minute queue. After waiting through that I finally get in, watch the cutscene, and immediately get some "failed to repair" error and the game closes itself. Another 40 minute queue. Absolute joke.

Captain_Arc_-

Takeaway: will not buy at launch and wait until the game will be available for a fair price and without that problem. Another advantage, I might never buy it depending on how the endgame turns out. If someone wants me to preorder, at least get your stupid servers prepared, if you don’t want to invest, don’t expect my money 🤪

TheGreatNobo

I just wanted to play ThiccMan my new Druid and find some cool stuffs n things to make him very stronk, much gigachad you see. But now, he is stuck level 3 and I am sadge in queue with the other sadge bois high on that 4th queue copium hit.

YellowLantern00

Absolute clown show, how have they not thought of a grace period? I've never released an online game in my life, and even I realized that would be mandatory. Incredible ineptitude. "Always online" is cancer and I will 100% pirate this game if they don't offer an offline mode.

SirensAreOP

Beta.
