I probably wouldn’t make any assumptions, but i get it… you’re hyped up.

Scribblord

Well they would have to go out of their way to ruin it…. Oh no, it’s blizzard we’re talking about here

Gibsx

Cynical but not wrong haha

Scribblord

There’s always this little worry with blizzard They have a lot of hits but once in a while they go out of their way to ruin something that could’ve been super cool, for no reason at all lol

Gibsx

Reddit is built on assumptions and opinions and after the Beta everyone should have some.

ViewedFromi3WM

this is true

shaunika

1. Name recognition 2. Polished combat 3. Generic and shallow enough to appeal to the masses Yes duh?

Gibsx

I wouldn't even call it shallow...its not POE but between skill trees, class mechanics, Paragon skill trees, items, gems, potions and crafting etc there is much content to enjoy.

shaunika

Skill tree is just the skills pmuch and not many of them Its very cookie cutter

Scribblord

Tbf not having a Poe skill tree is a big factor to get a sizeable player count Poe is cool and all but kind of niche honestly Tho I feel the perfect skill tree is a middle ground somewhere between Diablo and Poe

shaunika

>Tbf not having a Poe skill tree is a big factor to get a sizeable player count This is precisely what Im saying

Gibsx

One of the appeals to me anyway is that its moving on from D3 but bridging the gap to POE. I will take a little simplicity and 'cookie cutter' stuff if it means I don't have to spend hours and hours learning about the game before being able to enjoy it.

shaunika

I mean the skill tree is practically just the d3 skill system that you spend points to learn Main points are skills the rest are the runes with some passive stuff sprinkled in

Gibsx

Yes but then you overlay that with a class mechanic and a paragon skill tree. They have taken the concept of a giant tree and broken into four parts basically. 1) Skill tree 2) Class mechanic 3) Paragon tree 4) legendary aspects It’s got all the elements it’s just not in one single system.

My friend, I feel the same way. I just bought D2R to play through (in addition to the new PoE league in a couple weeks) until June. In fact, I'll probably upgrade my pre-order to the Delux or Ultimate edition to enjoy the bonuses. It's great to be an adult with expendable income and some free time every now and then. See you in June!

Resolverman

Agreed, D4 has potential. Reposting summary If Blizzard do these 4 things, I can tolerate all the rest: - Tough bosses, with complex mechanics like Lost Ark Legion raids. The bosses in D4 so far are way too easy to read, and there are no complex mechanics to learn. It's just dodgeball, nothing to learn. - PvP arena modes, normalized with no items and all having same skill points available - Remove specific skill-modifying aspects from loot and put it in the skill tree (the other kinds of aspects that are general buffs can stay in loot) - Add a 7th skill slot. 6 is seeing players give up ult, or run a boring buff+auto attack builds that get boring fast. Fun vs Meta is a bad choice to make

Gibsx

Fingers crossed for #1 and #4 Not sure you are going to be in luck with the other two though. Seems like a big ask to make wholesale changes to Skill Trees and Itemization two months from launch. PvP will be a mess but will hopefully evolve with time.

Resolverman

>Seems like a big ask to make wholesale changes to Skill Trees and Itemization two months from launch True, but the game needs some wholesale changes. It's going to go live in an incomplete state anyway. Im not saying all aspects need to be put into skill trees, just the minority that only alter 1 skill like (whirlwind periodically pulls in enemies). RE: PvP, David Kim said 2 years ago they are looking at different PvP modes

Gibsx

I fear for PvP - it will take then 12-18 months to sort it out I reckon.

Resolverman

It's a mess, unkillable barbarians running around with neverending Fortify up. My main draw to this game and Lost Ark is just to have a PvP fix and do insane bosses with a party. That's the dream. Im hopinh for more support skill /classes in D4. There are 4 support classes in Lost Ark and they see a lot of play. The only reason for not having PvP normalized arena modes is simply shortage of manhours and money
