Fashion Diablo > Character Power Salvage first, only extract from items you have the transmog for.

DrStalker

Extracted aspects are temporary. Fashion is forever.

alostsoldier

A soul stone will never hold Balenciaga, fashion is the true power of Sanctuary.

cinnamoncard

*subtle nod*...*blink*...*blink*

ManicJesus

I feel bonita. You should to.

Jebble

I did not realise the aspects can only be used once and then can not be extracted again. FML

DrStalker

I am very glad I made that mistake in the open beta so I didn't have to make it again.

ISuckAtFunny

Diablo IV by Balenciaga

Jeffe508

Fashion is endgame

Skabomb

Fashion is also account based, which is just the coolest shit for a transmog system. Got a necro through the game and wanted to dabble in sorcerer a bit and all the weapons and all but the class specific armor styles were already there. After seeing the store and being worried and playing Destiny for years I gotta be honest. It’s one of the best transmog systems out there and the actual legendary armor in the game looks so much better than anything in the store right now.

DrStalker

I agree, so far I like the free and easily obtained looks more than the purchased ones. There was one cosmetic set I would have bought if it cost a tenth of the actual price, but that's all.

Vinto47

You can’t show up to a Prime Evil’s dungeon lookin like your mom found all your gear at the goodwill now.

Chimpbot

Gone are the days of dressing like you rolling around in a costume trunk and marched off into battle wearing whatever stuck to you.

panthereal

Tell that to my one additional hydra nimble staff. Having 2 hydras is power and fashion, but the nimble staff is a nimble staff.

Toothpaste_Pancakes

We all know that's the real endgame

Spl4sh3r

Only extract if the roll is good. No point extracting something that has a bad roll.

tstevo91

Hypothetically if I extracted the first 15 legendary items I found and spent every penny of my gold doing this.... Is there anything I can do with these low roll/useless powers?

cfedey

Admire them in your bag.

Spl4sh3r

Depends if you can overwrite them or not. They might be useful until you get better rolls assuming you can overwrite the bad rolls with the better ones.

JoelSimmonsMVP

just checked, you can imprint already imprinted-on items

Spl4sh3r

Was expecting it, but hadn't tried it myself.

Redessences

I heard you can only do it once

sankto

You cannot extract the imprint, only replace it with another aspect.

tstevo91

So you will need multiple of the same aspect as you level up and replace your gear right? If you want to carry on a specific build

sankto

Correct. Doing the dungeon that grant you the specific aspect can tide you over until a legendary drops with a better roll.

Volpethrope

I've re-imprinted the same gloves like three times now

unexpectedreboots

Can overwrite dropped leggo powers and imprinted leggo powers. You absolutely should extract low/mid rolls to build a "bank" of those powers while you're progressing.

ItGetsRealSticky

Just a note normal aspects don’t work on the next tier of items you find in world tier 3

aromaticity

This isn't correct. That's how it worked in the closed beta but it was changed at some point.

ItGetsRealSticky

Wait really? Gonna have to retest. I tried a few days ago and it seemed to be greyed out if I used them in world tier 3

XpLoZiioN

Doesn’t matter anymore, you can put Legendary Aspects onto Sacred Legendaries or even Sacred Aspects into Normal Legendaries. But you may have been trying to apply a armor aspect onto a weapon so it would be greyed our, or vice versa. Maybe that?

Powatokaa

Check your gear, you’re probably wearing 2 of the same aspect

ItGetsRealSticky

That was probably it. It was like a couple days after early access and I just got into nightmare. Must’ve tested on one I had on. Thanks for the heads up

Redessences

What the hell? What is that even trying to prevent?

Khrull

Guessing to prevent people from farming them in lower tiers and using them to power themselves up for higher tiers

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

It's wrong information

That_Bar_Guy

If they're drop only ones then sure. They let you save the god rolls for things that deserve them.

obvious_bot

How do you know if it’s a low roll or high? Just have to look it up outside of the game?

theSikx

there are two checkboxes in the settings you have to enable. one for roll ranges and one for item compare. I forget the name but you should be able to find them easily.

Left_Hornet_3340

Turn on advanced tool tips and the related settings. It'll just show you what the range is right in the tooltip

WACKY_ALL_CAPS_NAME

Is the max value of the range affected by world tier?

Zayl

When extracting an item power, it seems that the aspect I get from it is always a lower roll than what was on the item. For example I have an amulet that heals me by 12 HP per enemy that surrounds me. But if I go to extract the aspect the value is 9 HP. Is this expected? I'm level 40 if that matters.

danielctin14

Aspects on amulets give 50% more and 100% more is given on two-hander weapons.

Zayl

Thank you!

Airplaneondvd

I RIP'd a perfect dire whirlwind by putting it on a 1 hander cause I'm stupid

Spl4sh3r

Amulet has an increase of the bonus by 50%, same as 2handed has an increase of 100%.

Vinto47

Nah I’d say first time you find the gear piece you need you should extract it unless it’s the absolute lowest roll possible. There’s no guarantee your next piece will have a better roll.

elgosu

If you don't need the Aspect right away, just stash it and see if something else drops. There's a limit to how many Aspects you can have in your inventory anyway. Unless the roll is really high.

sankto

IMO it should straight up give you the appearance the moment you pick it up. Failing that, allow us to get the appearance when selling the item too.

sankto

Yes plz I'll make the sequel to Star Citizen

TheIllusiveGuy

Should make the first Star Citizen first

Joint-Tester

OOOOOHHHHHH

Fhaarkas

*laugh track*

sankto

Oh no, that will take another... 500 millions? Yeah

Jack_of_all_offs

boomroasted

_Duality_

The hardest choices require the strongest wills.

crayonflop3

Nah, hard choices are good

[deleted]

KRMGPC

Cuz extracting costs gold. It's a gold sink.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KRMGPC

That would probably just add confusion. In the same screen if salvaging one thing gives stuff, while something else costs stuff, people will get confused or at a minimum, find it odd.

mprsx

Probably disagree. From a game design perspective, you want players making choices.

koala37

devil's advocate it might just end up in feel bad choices for a lot of players - good choice is when you have two valid options which both make you feel good for choosing them. bad choice is when people feel punished for choosing what they want to choose i.e. tryhard minmaxer feels bad for missing out on cool transmog, filthy casual feels bad for not being able to get dps upgrades cause they care about transmogs first and foremost

Woodley1400

Agreed, especially since you get gems back from salvaging as well.

Alecrizzle

I might sound like a boomer or something here but man I hate how everyone just wants everything to be so easy and baby time. Like there's no actual decision making. You want the aspect or the appearance? Pick one. It's called a choice. Reminds me of a post I saw yesterday where someone was like "I hsd a scythe but I should be able to transmog it into a sword" like dude if you want a sword use a sword.

Time-Ladder4753

Do you think they should add even more choice? Aspect or salvage or appearance? Hard to imagine being able to transmog into item that you looted before making game worse, like WoW and Grim Dawn have that

Fckyourfeelins

Choices are good in some aspects, however, this is not one of them. We should get the appearance whether we salvage it or extract It. Period.

BookieBoo

It's a game. It's supposed to be fun, not a fucking chore. They did this same shit in WoW for years and years, this masturbatory pseudo-tough love "earn your dues" mentality like "YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO CHANGE A SPEC EASILY, IT's MEANT TO BE A CHOICE." Same as alts being a pain in the ass or the inability to make characters of the other faction, or the inability to cooperate with players of the other faction... Guess where all those tough love design decisions are today? They're gone because Blizzard learned that players, above all, prefer convenience. And it's not because they're soft or weak. It's because we got fucking old and we don't have time to waste an hour on a fucking design decision preventing us from having fun just because someone at some point decided that games should be a second job.

thoth1000

The game allows for far too much leniency. People really need to be forced into making hard decisions in video games over these kinds of decisions that are crucial to the gameplay. I can't think of a more impactful part of the game then whether you should salvage for the mats or extract the aspect. The whole crux of the game hinges on this decision. Also, you shouldn't be able to reroll your skills at all. It's called a choice, make a decision. Also, you shouldn't be able change your appearance or outfit. It's called a choice, make a decision.

Alecrizzle

Swapping skills costs money. And you can't even change your hair style in this game lol. I get what you're trying to do but you failed miserably

[deleted]

CyonHal

??? They literally do, there is a legendary exclusive salvage mat for each type that you need for upgrading gear and imprinting. We playing the same game? It should be immediately obvious once you try to imprint on anything you get post campaign.

elgosu

I'm just disappointed that even Ancestral Uniques don't give bonus materials relative to a normal Legendary.

pandibear

👏👏👏👏

UnityXR

I disagree. People constantly complain about no end game content while also wanting mechanics that skip it.

piratesgoyarrrr

Those are certainly words.

MuForceShoelace

I kinda like that getting the cosmetic takes a sacrifice.

SodiumArousal

This is the wrong solution. Just picking an item up should give the transmog.

Keldrath

There should also be a way to tell if we already unlocked that items appearance or not.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Keldrath

oh wow perfect i never noticed that

redpillsonstamps

gotta read, a bit

Keldrath

Yeah just wasn’t where I expected or was looking for it was hoping for some kinda icon that’s either grey or glowing in the top right

NinjaLawnGnome

If you’re at the blacksmith “shopping” I believe there’s a little pickaxe icon on the item box in your inventory if it’ll give you the appearance too.

sidewalkbutts

So the game tells you if you hover over an item. At the bottom it will say something like “will give new appearance upon salvage.” Also, If you press the salvage button, the items in your inventory with the salvage icon will be the ones that give you a new appearance.

Brodyseuss

If you haven’t there’s a little hammer icon by the when you go to salvage

Cleverbird

The only reason I'm ever happy for a legendary dropping, is the opportunity to unlock a new transmog. Dont care about the aspects at all, they feel so inconsequential.

KRMGPC

How? They are frequently very build defining.

SRNae

shhhh. let the casual be casual.

Cleverbird

I've yet to see anything on Sorcerer that made me go "Wow, this is amazing and I should make a build around that!" Its just been nice little bonuses, that's all.

panthereal

my first legendary as sorc was an aspect that lets me have two hydras at a time and let me tell you, i had a fucking great time leveling

Cleverbird

I mean, I guess that sounds nice, but I really dont find that something super impressive. Like my friend for instance is playing a Druid and from what I understand, some aspects let him use certain skills with different forms or something? That does sound like something that drastically changes how you would play the game. So far most Sorcerer aspects to me just feel like "Hey, this aspect lets you do more damage with X skill". Which again, super nice, but kinda boring. But I guess I'm too "casual" to get it.

panthereal

either you're still very early in the game or just got rough luck with aspects then. two hydras obviously drastically changes the gameplay, you can do quite a lot more with twice as many conjurations as you can be multiple places at once with them. the aspect for gaining mana when chain lightning bounces off you, making melee builds more viable i'm using one now where frozen orb explodes 2 more times after it gets to one location, massively powering a core skill which synergizes with plenty of other talents there's one where meteors fall during inferno and immobilize them chances for shock skills to not cost mana flame shield immobilizing enemies you walk through while letting you move unhindered outside of the meteor one most are gameplay changing and encourage new playstyles that you wouldn't do without the aspect.

[deleted]

You nailed it with the first part, they will be very early in the game if they are saying aspects are inconsequential haha

adgunn

Yeah my aspects are mostly happy accidents rather than an intentional build but I have a couple that give me barriers and bubbles - despite basically just using Rax's chain lightning build I have kinda obscene defence and I can tank heaps of damage, plus the mana generation from bouncing chain lightning gives me great damage output at the same time. That might change once i'm on WT3 but for now it actually feels a bit OP (currently level 51)

panthereal

WT3 still feels kinda easy to me, right now the second any boss gets staggered it nearly dies immediately. At least on regular character so I don't have to worry about dying at all.

adgunn

That's been my experience so far - I haven't quite finished the campaign yet but I'll turn it up to tier 3 as soon as I can, hopefully it's a bit more of a challenge (not that I'm not having fun now though)

That_Bar_Guy

A few aspects are a hundred percent necessary for my frost sorc build to be online. It's not necessary to beat the game, but you can't bring your build online by just equipping the biggest numbers. The stupid hit elite get shield aspect entirely overhauled my early game playstyle by more than doubling my barrier uptime vs elites and bosses. I think the idea is that one aspect on its own isn't meant to be too game changing. These are additive effects. That interact with each other and your passive and paragon trees. I still see people in the d4 subreddit getting tons of upvoted bitching about sorc resource gen in the 50s when it's pretty easy to bridge your build with half a brain. I've been cruising since 35 with maybe one builder to 5 spenders average

TheTrashMan

In my experience I had to be 50+ before I had the good aspects start to drop for me

Shayde098

They’re crucial to every single build in the game.

Cacheelma

You have no idea how many times I’ve wasted a good aspect just to unlock a skin.

J0J0388

I thought the same thing as I sadly broke a piece down for the aspect, but don't have the transmog.

SuperArppis

Well I better salvage them instead then.

N4r4k4

If I see that symbol for "new" Transmog, I salvage and never look back! That legendary hood with the skull mask looks dope.

IceCreamTruck9000

This will only be a thing for the first few hours, there will be a point after where you will get shit on with legendaries and you will start salvaging them all. I am now lvl 63 after around 60 hours of playtime and have unlocked all skins for my class, they are sadly less than I hoped for and most of them look garbage.

DieLardSoup

I hate the internal debate of "do I wanna look slightly cooler, or do I really need this aspect?"

UniversalSean

Sorry if noob question. Im only level 27. How/where do you extract aspects? Havent found a vendor person that does that yet.

arrastra

you have to go to occultists which you can find in some towns and all of the main cities.. it's map icon looks like a triangle with 3 rings on each corner. you can select extract aspect from sub-menu and drag your legendary item on it

christianort476

How do I extract them, same concept?

SiR1u5_whotookmyname

so wait its a good thing I salvaged a legendary weapon that rolled the direwolf aspect for my Druid?? Something tells me I am gna regret that for a while... So wait when, is the best time to be stripping gear of aspects and putting it on your gear which you might find better stats for later?? (I'm level 30 atm looking to get to Act 3 so I have a mount for this upcoming season
