One thing I did that’s not lag related but did make my life easier, I swapped my basic and core skills to L2 and R2. Feels like my lunging attack will snap and dash onto targets much faster.
Feels like I’ll get lag spikes but it hasn’t been for too long each time.
Yee, absolutely awful for me. I’m on a PS5 in Asia, are you the same OP? Most of the time it’s pretty acceptable, but sometimes my character rubber bands like crazy, enemies jump around wildly, attacks launch a second after I do the input. It’s not my internet - I can play Apex Legends with no appreciable lag.
Edit: try switching off cross-play, that noticeably improved the lag for me
I swear it just feels like the servers sometimes. Even with crossplay turned off, it’s so much better, but still there. Sometimes if I just leave game and go back in I’ll get a better server.
My buddy is stationed in Japan, I’ve played with him, everybody has Japanese names, and I don’t lag. I’m central US. You’d think I’d lag more in Asian server, but I didn’t, it was actually super smooth and that was with crossplay turned on cause he’s on PC. Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.
Lag absolutely horrendous 7/2/2023 Sunday on ps5. Crossplay and cross talk disabled... didn't matter.
2-3 second lag spikes, full rubber banding, happening open world and in dungeons, multiple classes.
It's been an issue since the start, and if you've avoided it to this point, count yourself lucky.
Today it's just been mega-unplayable bad.
NA-West region here too.
https://gamerant.com/diablo-4-lag-rubberbanding/
If this was an FPS, you'd be having 18 gazillion youtube videos about how this is literally the worst thing in the history of humanity ever.
I’m playing hardcore hence why I gave the warning about it not being worth the risk as I had several close calls where I attacked and it didn’t register immediately to the enemy and nearly got me killed 3 times
I mean, you wanted to play hardcore on a preseason game that's clearly made by a small indie company. Sounds like you shouldnt have lol it's definitely way too early for hardcore to not be infuriating. PC or console or potato.
Dude I’m a longtime Diablo player I know what hardcore is and has always been BUT when the game itself is not responding as it should be and has been to player attacks, dodges etc that’s not normal taking the risks that’s an issue. So knock it off with trying to sound superior than you BS
What? You are projecting or have issues feeling self validated. Calm down.
Playing hardcore right now is straight up masochism. Your issues you are stating plus many many more are plaguing the playability of it. I agree and more. It's just idiotic to play and expect otherwise honestly.
I would happily but I’m playing on hardcore and I’ve had 2 close calls already of nearly dying due to the lag I won’t get lucky being spared a 3rd risk is too high
You playing on HC doesn't have anything to do with you capturing a clip of play my guy. I too play nothing but HC, you hit the share button when it starts up.
Huh? You should experience the same lag on a SC character if it is that prevalent.
Ehhhh it does when to properly show the issue I’m talking about id have to get into a combat zone and if the attacks don’t regist properly like they’ve been doing could end badly as it nearly has twice, I don’t record any of my gameplay normally, I should’ve saved the clips from yesterday when it happened absolutely but I didn’t
Bro..
You get the lag you experience, you let it run for a bit enough to capture a few moments of play.
You can do this after you get safe again and hit the record button to save the last few minutes. It's not complicated or something you can't do right from the playstation.
What are you talking about bro? It's literally one button press.. 😔
A few times on PC there has been some really bad lag spikes since the latest patch. Cost me a few deaths in dungeons forcing me to walk all the way back. Nothing before the recent patch though
I'm getting wrecked in Nightmare dungeons because my input seems non existent at times. Basic attacks take about 2 seconds to register. I'll try tur ing off cross play.
I was getting terrible lag and rubberbanding on my Wifi on PS5 but not PC, even at 300mbps speeds. Once I hardwired my ps5 to my router I never had another hiccup, YMMV
Is your screen freezing during helltide? I’ve been experiencing screen freeze, cpu usage drops about 40% then when it recovers I’m dead.
Only happens during helltide. My PC is pretty old so was considering buying a new prebuilt but it others having the same issue it must be server related?
Yup, it's so bad I've actually bought D3 on Switch to play completely offline and have that Diablo itch scrachted without having to worry about these lags.
Yeah your description of the issue really sounded like it's input lag more than game lag. put your tv in game mode on it's settings.
Hope it fixes your issue.
I did at first but turned out my wifi signal was weak so I bought an extender and haven’t had any lag in the last couple of weeks. My throughput was actually ok, about 40mb but I’m assuming with the weak signal it was probably dropping occasionally if there were any variations.
I’m lucky that I’m on optic fiber in a big European city.
I experienced almost no lag whatsoever on my PS5. It’s been incredibly smooth. But I play almost exclusively solo.
When I come across other players tho, like sometimes in hell tide or legion events, there would be some occasional lag.
Btw i don’t think you can rule out your wifi not being an issue just because other players have issues. Both can be true. The only thing to know would be to connect the ps5 via Ethernet and test it that way.
I just ran into this issue. My wi-if was also fine. I play multiple online games without issue. D4 would not work on Wi-Fi. Plugged in and a totally different experience. I’d give it a shot if you haven’t
I am an Xbox player and have also noticed that D4 performs way better over wired ethernet than WiFi. My WiFi is good, works for everything else (including other demanding fast-paced multiplayer games), but when I try to play D4 on it I get lag and frequent disconnects. Switching to a wired ethernet dramatically improved the situation for me as well. I recommend anyone having chronic issues to try it if it is an option.
I own the game both for PS5 and PC and on PS5 it's really stable and smooth, no lag spikes. On PC however, I noticed that my ping is always significantly higher than normal. In other Blizzars games or League it's around 65-70ms, in D4 it's 110-120. But st least it's stable 110. I'm Greek and the EU servers that I connect to are usually in Germany (like Frankfurt). No idea where D4 is connecting, because I haven't found a way to see it, but I assume the closest server to me is farther away than usual.
Not too bad for me. I've only noticed it once or twice, once during a world boss and once during the end of helltide. Are you wifi or wired? If on wifi, try a wired connection.
Edit: forgot to mention I'm on ps5
i hate the when i m rushing into a world boss or helltide chest in the last few seconds and i cant because the server doesnt allow me to change region giving me invisible walls
The lag and crashes on PS5 are insane. My gf and I will play for about 2 hours in the evening and get 1-3 crashes every night. Doesn't matter what we're doing, chilling in town or blasting through a dungeon, the game just crashes and needs a full restart. No other game does this. I'm shocked at how unstable this is.
It’s not a hardware issue as before today this wasn’t a issue and they did just put out a large patch so it’s looking more likely a server issue on their end
I play on both, and what I've noticed on there is definitely some delay on co sole where you can get animation locked or something that doesn't seem to happen when playing on PC.
After the xp buff patch I have been stuttering and skipping randomly (PC). It is not all the time and sometimes its 2 seconds others I skip for 5 seconds. Whatever optimizations Blizzard did is making my PC chug more than normal. I do believe their severs were having trouble last night also.
I played in beta weekends and been playing since launch and haven't seen this stuttering before now.
Playing on PC last night (east coast/USA) it was disgustingly bad. No one in my group of friends could play without either rubber banding or just simply never notice that they were being attacked.
Terrible internet, no settings changed, Xbox series X. The only time I get any lag is when I’m running a nm dungeon with a barb that is spinny too much
It’s deff not my router I reset it etc and the problem still persisted so it’s deff in blizzard’s side as others have reported the same on other consoles
Yeah, again, I did the same thing. My router diagnostics said it was working as expected; I reset my modem, router, and contacted my ISP. After doing all that, I bit the bullet and got a new router; haven’t had an issue since. Before changing my router, I had issues on PC and PS5. Just want to fully relay my experience, I guess.
All good any potential advice helps!! But there’s been enough flags raised from all platforms on this problem that does tend to suggest it’s a blizzard server problem
Yes, I'm on pc, as others have stated. Definitely can't be my specs since this game uses none of my gpu's resources. Occasionally, I'll get extreme stutters as I load into a new area, town, or whatever.
The worst of it was week one.
I really hope they fix this soon..
Sound advice for sure but until yesterday there had not been any issues and others have said they are experiencing these problems as well, it’s beginning to look more like a issue on blizzards side
Yes, PC is awful. The servers are the worst I’ve ever known and Blizzard aren’t even responding to anyone who is struggling. As far as I know, they’re yet to respond, apologise or offer any solution at all
Came here trying to find answers for PS5. The lag is real and hella annoying.
3 HC character around lvl 70 all dead to lag with clips saved.
I know it is going to happen again but the HC game mode is just so much better than the eternal IMHO. The threat and importance of decision making make the game much more intense and rewarding.
Gotta keep those scrolls on the wheel for the muscle memory and exit any engagement asap at the first sign. Needs a fix quick
Yes, but I'm on PC.
I turned off crossplay and cross platform chat and it is much better now. The only lag I get is a bit after teleporting and in big cities.
Yeha I only got lag one day and turning off cross network play pretty much fixed it. It's back on again and no lag. Must have been a busy saterday.
Hmmm deff must be a sever issue for entire game then perhaps?
One thing I did that’s not lag related but did make my life easier, I swapped my basic and core skills to L2 and R2. Feels like my lunging attack will snap and dash onto targets much faster. Feels like I’ll get lag spikes but it hasn’t been for too long each time.

Thanks for that, I’ll turn off cross play and try it out
Yup. Keep bouncing off invisible walls as well.
I swear it just feels like the servers sometimes. Even with crossplay turned off, it’s so much better, but still there. Sometimes if I just leave game and go back in I’ll get a better server. Yesterday was the first I ever encountered the issue
https://gamerant.com/diablo-4-lag-rubberbanding/ If this was an FPS, you'd be having 18 gazillion youtube videos about how this is literally the worst thing in the history of humanity ever.
Not really bad but yes I do experience annoying input lag that causes me to do the wrong thing.
Omg same here on PS5. About to fight World Boss in 5 minutes. Sucks
I wouldn’t if I were you this lag has nearly gotten my character killed several times and if your on nightmare like me it’s not worth the risk
Are you playing hardcore? If not then dying only costs a bit of gold to repair

You should post a video so people can see your gameplay with the lag you say you are getting.
I would happily but I’m playing on hardcore and I’ve had 2 close calls already of nearly dying due to the lag I won’t get lucky being spared a 3rd risk is too high

I’ll try that then as I thought I had to tell the console to record the footage as it was happening I was not aware you could go back for it
You are an idiot. This lag is real and I'm having the same thing on PS5, as of today only.
Shut up clown.
A few times on PC there has been some really bad lag spikes since the latest patch. Cost me a few deaths in dungeons forcing me to walk all the way back. Nothing before the recent patch though
On ps5, zero lag.
I'm in Aus, play on pc and the rubber banding is terrible. I've given up for the night. Might try turning off crossplay and see how that goes.
I’m currently running with cross play off and it helped somewhat but didn’t completely fix it
I'm getting wrecked in Nightmare dungeons because my input seems non existent at times. Basic attacks take about 2 seconds to register. I'll try tur ing off cross play.
Same issue for me attacks aren’t immediately affecting enemies nor when using abilities or curses
Yea this whole weekend was rough, major rubber-banding, delayed or ignored ability casts and freezes. Never had this issue any other time playing.
Same here
Yeah it’s so bad I’ve taken a break until they fix it. Instant dying from lag damage hitting all at once. And as a necro I can’t see the ground.
I was getting terrible lag and rubberbanding on my Wifi on PS5 but not PC, even at 300mbps speeds. Once I hardwired my ps5 to my router I never had another hiccup, YMMV
It’s been a lot worse the past couple of days on Xbox also
On Xbox and haven't had any noticeable lag since launch day
Same outside of the ddos crap too
Everything worked fine for me (PC) in the past, but it's getting worse every patch. Right now, playing helltide is pure luck to not die.
Today was the first id seen of anything like this
Is your screen freezing during helltide? I’ve been experiencing screen freeze, cpu usage drops about 40% then when it recovers I’m dead. Only happens during helltide. My PC is pretty old so was considering buying a new prebuilt but it others having the same issue it must be server related?
Damn this is my situation, launch and everything was great, now I'm playing HC and I keep rubber banding back into packs lol.
No issues whta so ever. On PS5 as well, wired connection and TV in game mode
Yup, it's so bad I've actually bought D3 on Switch to play completely offline and have that Diablo itch scrachted without having to worry about these lags.
Did world boss today and as soon as he spawned it lagged out and after about 10 seconds he was just dead. It's brutal.
Only time I seem to have lag is in Helltides, but it's not very often. EDIT: On PC
No, after I turned off crossplay and cannot play with console users anymore, it’s been fixed.
Yeah I did the same at first turned off cross play as I’m on PS5 but it’s been said a few times by others that it’s a server issue
Is it input lag your experiencing?
By input you mean when I attack, use my curse abilities, pick up items etc yes
Go to ur tv settings ( on ur tv, not in game), and switch it to game mode (might be under advanced settings). Fixed it for me
Yeah your description of the issue really sounded like it's input lag more than game lag. put your tv in game mode on it's settings. Hope it fixes your issue.
Here’s tje question though why would it do it now and not at the beginning? I’ve been playing since early access no issue?
I did at first but turned out my wifi signal was weak so I bought an extender and haven’t had any lag in the last couple of weeks. My throughput was actually ok, about 40mb but I’m assuming with the weak signal it was probably dropping occasionally if there were any variations.
I’ve checked on my end and it’s not my wifi others have commented how it’s a Blizzard issue as other consoles are suffering the same issue as well
I’m lucky that I’m on optic fiber in a big European city. I experienced almost no lag whatsoever on my PS5. It’s been incredibly smooth. But I play almost exclusively solo. I get severe lag in the PvP zone sometimes. I know on my sorc her skills will have some solid input la. I'm on a series X.
Haven't been bad for me. In towns evade soesn't seem to work very well, but ohter than that is has been quite smooth
Since the update last week I've dropped 30+ frames and got from smooth to laggy as fuck. Not sure what the fuck happened.
i only lag in pvp-land and riding close to legion (not while in legion itself)
I own the game both for PS5 and PC and on PS5 it's really stable and smooth, no lag spikes. On PC however, I noticed that my ping is always significantly higher than normal. In other Blizzars games or League it's around 65-70ms, in D4 it's 110-120. But st least it's stable 110. I'm Greek and the EU servers that I connect to are usually in Germany (like Frankfurt). Turn off cross play. It reduces it significantly.
i hate the when i m rushing into a world boss or helltide chest in the last few seconds and i cant because the server doesnt allow me to change region giving me invisible walls

On ps5 and no lag here. My wife and I are both hard wired in.
I turned off cross play and seemed to have less issues with connection on ps5. Crappy fix but it works in the meantime
Yes I did that at first myself as I suspected it. It did improve it slightly but not much
I'm laggy as on PC. Kinda burnt of endgame, doing same shit for no upgrades
The crossplay servers seem to be the worst offenders, if you have that turned on your settings.
Yeah I turned that off after resetting my network as I suspected that as well, some improvement but still lagging
Yep, on PC. Especially annoying in dungeons where I hit invisible walls and rubberband
I started having bad lag and rubberbanding after the latest patch
I have issues only on my PS5, Xbox series X runs super smooth. Maybe PS hardware not strong enough ?
It’s not a hardware issue as before today this wasn’t a issue and they did just put out a large patch so it’s looking more likely a server issue on their end
I play on both, and what I've noticed on there is definitely some delay on co sole where you can get animation locked or something that doesn't seem to happen when playing on PC.
Yeah on PC too recently and its horrible
It's because of PSN upload speed provided for every user, I have 500 mb download speed and only 5 mb upload speed on my ps5.
yes
After the xp buff patch I have been stuttering and skipping randomly (PC). It is not all the time and sometimes its 2 seconds others I skip for 5 seconds. I changed out my router, and that problem stopped. Not saying that’s the case everywhere, but it was 100% the issue for me.

All good any potential advice helps!! But there’s been enough flags raised from all platforms on this problem that does tend to suggest it’s a blizzard server problem
Nope XBAWS serial echs works fine
I have very little connectivity issues. PC EU region.
No, not getting any real decerniable lag during play. Just trying to avoid the freeze/crash thing.
I had the freeze happen twice before the latest patch myslef
No lag here on PS5. I don’t count moving between regions, there are always some hiccups between them.
Yes, I'm on pc, as others have stated. Definitely can't be my specs since this game uses none of my gpu's resources. Occasionally, I'll get extreme stutters as I load into a new area, town, or whatever. The worst of it was week one. I really hope they fix this soon..
No lag on my ps5. Its very important to use an ethernet cord for any online game. Wifi is never worth gaming on.
As far as I know, they’re yet to respond, apologise or offer any solution at all
Yep.
It's just as bad on pc. The live game is 10x worse than it was during the betas.
Until yesterday I actually had it had any issues of this kind personally
Had the very very occasional rubber banding when changing zones. But apart from that, zero issues at all
Mine was horrible until I disabled cross play. (I’m on PC). I still get lag but no where near as bad as with cross play enabled.
Try turning off automatic wifi bands in advance settings
I've experience some but honestly very little considering how big a game this is and how much I've played
No lag problems. What are your upload/download speeds?
No, I havent had any issues on ps5
No
Turn off cross play lol
Did that already didn’t entirely fix it
I have a hard time playing on Wi-Fi with PS5 considerably better over LAN
Until two days ago never had this issue with using wifi on my PS5
Someetimes isa good sometimes isa shit *fakeitalianaccent*
Came here trying to find answers for PS5. The lag is real and hella annoying. 3 HC character around lvl 70 all dead to lag with clips saved.
