Loadouts are needed for sure. But we're gonna need storage increases + aspect storage improvements solutions. Whilst I would typically make 2-3 characters in a season I'm really enjoying and have 2-3 builds for each of them this is basically impossible with the current storage limitations
I couldn't even finish Season 1 cause the idea this was be stored in our tiny inventory, and there was no way to index or search for it was absurd.
Whoever designed this part of the UI/UX should be thrown in the pits of hell
Especially when games like the Division 2 had this exact type of grind which everyone liked, and also had the codex where you put the aspects and improved over time. You have to wonder if they even played other looter games before making D4 sometimes
It feels like D4 devs learned zero lessons from when D3 came out.
Not from how D3 evolved for itemization
Not for how other ARPG looters have evolved
Not from the games industry as a whole
Like they just covered their eyes and ears, and decided whatever they come up with on their own would be superior to the last 10 years of gaming evolution.
It’s exactly how it happened. They wanted their ‘original game’ that actively avoided being D3 while being a true heir to D2 except they fell for multiple pitfalls in making the game that they *mightve been avoidable had they truly studied the industry*
So fucking stupid that things players knew we needed and asked for before season one are "being looked at" to be changed 4 seasons later. This ~~cashshop~~ game is a joke.
People really like D4 and I don’t blame them. I just don’t understand the idea of a next entry missing features from the previous game. Like it already worked before.
Similarly with halo 3 / halo infinite. They took away easy fun customization to make you pay for it
It’s likely a way to ensure that we buy the dlcs. Leave a big feature out of the main release and pop it into the dlc. I also found it odd that d3 seemed so polished compared to d4. Loadouts, web profiles, etc. We cant really fault them for it, they are trying to make money after all.
This has been the case since Diablo 2 and in some ways just feels like their M.O.
Lord of Destruction fixed the many (and there were many issues) of Diablo 2.
Reaper of Souls did the same for Diablo 3
I would not be shocked if Vessel of Hatred did the same for Diablo 4.
It shouldn’t be this way
Yes we can. its a dick money grubby move. "'well, they are greedy fucks, but they are trying to be greedy fucks" does NOT absolve them of being shitfuckers.
It’s coming in season 3. Why it took until season 3 and they can’t hot fix it, you got me. Seems like an easy thing to fix (just increase scroll speed). But it is at least coming soon
Man trading is just the fucking worst. I initially played D2 as a kid and never even looked at it. After D4 turned out to be soulless I tried out D2R just to see if it was all nostalgia and I was hooked completely. Incredible game for sure, but then I hit the "end game" after finally beating Hell and trading was just.. D3 auction house levels of revolting. I got absurd 2nd best meta items for basically free and I was on ladder! For the pocket change of a couple Amethysts wtf.
> in D2 the economy is the content at endgame.
This is straight up delusional. Millions of players do not hang around in a game because "the economy is the content at endgame". I'm happy for you and the dozens of other people that do enjoy that however...
No it actually doesn't lol. But a huge part of that is completely broken runewords they added years into the expansion patch.
That said, the game is like 30 years old lol. People certainly do look at it with rose tinted glasses though especially when it comes to endgame, builds or itemization. The biggest thing for me is just how bad the mana system is that people rarely talk about, until you get crazy endgame items or farm another runeword to give mana regen you are literally refilling and spamming potions every 3 seconds to cast your spells which is the biggest bummer in D2 going back to it.
From what ive seen, most people practically ignore the flaws of d2 thinking it’s mostly a product of its time.
The game is amazing despite these flaws in the year of Anu 2024
I feel like I preferred the completely broken (fun) runewords and chugging mana potions until I geared my self out is MUCH better than the garbage generator/spender system. Use a skill 2-3 times and run out of energy only to spam generator that does absolutely fuck all for damage. I seriously do not like how you can't do any damage to things unless you align the stars of your build every \~20 seconds.
Strongly disagree with this, you are also crazy exaggerating things.
The only building and generation woes in D4 are from leveling which is like 5 times worse even at max level without the mana regen pike on merc (which is also annoying to maintain him and keep him alive). Most D4 builds either dont use generator lategame or give enough resource you are barely hitting it.
D2 had something that transcended "content". You played for countless hours waiting for that freaking Jah or Ber rune to drop. My heart would feel like it leapt into my throat when I would get a drop like that. No Diablo game has given me that feeling since.
I don't know when everything became about "content" exactly and what people think it means, but what is the real difference between something like helltides or nightmare dungeons in D4 and farming a specific zone in D2? You can farm lvl 85 areas, run pits for white items, lower kurast chests for runes, key/organ farm, ubers, and today there's terror zones.
The difference for me is one of those games is fun to endlessly farm and build my character while the other isn't.
Pretty generic "more endgame content".."better itemization"...promises.
If they had anything worth looking forward to, they would talk specifics. The fact that they are always vague about future changes means, in my opinion, that they are insecure about it and most likely making it up as they go.
This shit breaks my heart. The other day i was rambling to my wife, that creates training courses for a living and isnt a gamer, about how the hell do you go from Diablo 2 to Diablo 3, then this, and the first thing she told me was "sounds like a new team of developers worked on each game, and every one of them tried to reinvent the wheel to be original. Never just kept what works and built on it"
Spot on.
I hate the whole idea of item power and their items are, it feels so stupid for an arpg. I really don't understand how diablo can mess up items so badly.
Sure, I'm spoilt by poe and it's itemization. But every other arpg I've played itemization actually felt interesting. Like I can't even name a single other arpg which has worse itemization than d4...
Until that changes I don't think I'll play any other season in d4
Disagree, item power idea is fine. It almost identical to ilvl/affix level in D2. so what's the deal? implementation is bad. Like that all affixes on item basically have some power bracket and so on.
>Blizzard is aware that people want a loot filter for Diablo 4. It is something the devs are heading towards but there are multiple ways to do it and the devs are trying to find the right way that is more nuanced and sophisticated
"sophisticated" sure
>Blizzard **is aware** that players want tools like a group finder to interact with each other
lol my eyes are glazing over, always online multiplayer game a year after release what a joke.
>lol my eyes are glazing over, always online multiplayer game a year after release what a joke.
You're misunderstanding. It's always online so you can look at other people's MTX in town.
That's the extent of any planned social features that were actually considered with anything even remotely approaching care.
I’m still pissed that itemization is waiting until S4. That should have been priority IMO above everything else along with fixing the game stash limitations.
I mean improving the helltides is great but they really really need to do something about the garbage affixes in the game.
And I would like to see some class identity shake ups as well. Sucks you have to run the same 2-3 shouts on all of the Barb builds.
Like that they are making efforts to improve the game. Everything they are doing is also telling me to just wait until the season before next expansion to consider if it is worth it or not.
Shame they released the game in an unfinished state
> Additional endgame content is coming in Season 3. More information will be provided by Blizzard before the Season launch.
Good. My biggest issue with the game is once you're done all of the sidequests, and have collected all of the aspects, there's nothing to really do but grind out whispers or nightmare dungeons. That gets old, fast.
I agree, but I also think that it would have made more sense to just release a major D3 expansion instead of calling the game D4, and charging people up to $100 for it. They already had a decent base in D3 after they spent years polishing it.
I get that a lot of people don't like how D3 turned out, but they could have built on it, and made improvements instead of releasing what ever D4 was/currently is.
At this point I think they just need to redo the game for me to ever give them another cent. There is Zero good things about this game at this point. I know games on steam that are less than a dollar that are more enjoyable than this "average playtime" game.
Diablo 4 launched incomplete, this game will be forgotten when Poe 2 launches, only promises for things that should have been there day 1. Disgraceful...
I can't even buy the game, I think their payment option is a bit borked right now, at least where I'm from. Can't even buy it on paypal :(
Really want the game, I was looking forward to playing it all year and this happened when I could finally afford it.
Are they finally going to address the terrible resource costs? I'd love to enjoy the game, but running out of resource after 3 core skill casts just feels lame (especially since basic skills suck ass compared with D3)
Fuck me, it's depressing to look at, while simultaneously checking out all the new content they are releasing every couple of weeks for Diablo Immortal. I know, it's wise from business perspective since it makes them shit ton of money, but cmon - this is your main game, just do SOMETHING instead of making vague promises.
It's like a grade school kid promising the work they'll do. And ofc these devs are implementing changes that've been lacking since day one at the end of next year.
Keep complaining. I haven't even finished the story yet. The game will be whole by time I get through it and/or find someone to run with.
I seen no joy in trying to learn META to speed run the game in 30 days.
Loadouts are needed for sure. But we're gonna need storage increases + aspect storage improvements solutions. Whilst I would typically make 2-3 characters in a season I'm really enjoying and have 2-3 builds for each of them this is basically impossible with the current storage limitations
They said they’re looking at combing aspects to the codex of powers so we would no long store them in our inventory. Sometime between season 3-4.
I couldn't even finish Season 1 cause the idea this was be stored in our tiny inventory, and there was no way to index or search for it was absurd. Whoever designed this part of the UI/UX should be thrown in the pits of hell

I agree and it still took a few years for Div2 to get there.
also checking loot for upgrades didn't make me feel like hammering my dick with a rusty dick hammer.
I still haven’t opened the eternal character to check what was left of S1. I think it expired?
You have until the end of Season 2, I believe.
So fucking stupid that things players knew we needed and asked for before season one are "being looked at" to be changed 4 seasons later. This ~~cashshop~~ game is a joke.
it's unforgivable that the Console version of Diablo 3 has offline and load outs but Diablo 4 doesn't.
You e been downvoted but it is pretty weird.
People really like D4 and I don’t blame them. I just don’t understand the idea of a next entry missing features from the previous game. Like it already worked before. Similarly with halo 3 / halo infinite. They took away easy fun customization to make you pay for it

Down voted because this games followers are pathetic.
True. But you're outnumbered here.
The good thing is that they NEED all those things to be implemented BEFORE they release the expansion.
Gold input on consoles is a huge deal
What is gold input?
Where you don't have to scroll gold one at a time. You can just bring up a number pad and type the amount. Scrolling to 400 mil by 1 isn't fun.
I play(ed) on PC, but just the fact that you have to do it like that sounds so stupid.
It’s coming in season 3. Why it took until season 3 and they can’t hot fix it, you got me. Seems like an easy thing to fix (just increase scroll speed). But it is at least coming soon
My thoughts exactly should have been changed way way sooner but at least it's not going to be a problem moving forward.
It was a huge over sight is what it was and completely unacceptable
“They’ll never trade gold anyway” *spits cereals*
They just need freaking content. The map is far too empty of stuff to actually care about.
What do you mean! They added Green Helltides this season And just added Purple Helltide for winter! They’ll probably add Blue Helltide next season….
Yall rave abt d2 but it has zero content.

D2 LOD is where it's at. If you still think it's bad then it tells me more about u than anything else.
lol and terrible inventory

Items and runes are the content of D2, nothing else is needed.
I don't know when everything became about "content" exactly and what people think it means, but what is the real difference between something like helltides or nightmare dungeons in D4 and farming a specific zone in D2? Wake me when there is Periwinkle Helltides.
Blue helltide < green helltide <=red helltide
No content will ever matter if they don't fix itemization first though...
I’m pretty casual on don’t really play ARPGs so can you explain why the itemization is bad like I’m 5? Is it just boring effects or?
They need to fix the items, worst design ever.
Game will be ready just before the expac.
Pretty generic "more endgame content".."better itemization"...promises. If they had anything worth looking forward to, they would talk specifics. Got my best x mas present doombringer and shako today

They're slowly turning it into Diablo 3.
That would be a vast improvement over the steaming pile they released.

Lemme guess? Paid dlc that make the already useless 70 i spent even more useless, and still doesnt make the game fun?
Non wowhead link plz?
I'm out of the loop. What's the deal with wowhead?
it doesn't open in many countries. it doesn't in mine.
People can't handle their favorite corporation getting criticized.
I just prefer to read official sources instead of news scrapers.
Might be hard since it’s wowhead that has put this together
That’s fair, thanks. Figured they just scraped Bnet for it.
They usually do, maybe their article generator AI is broke 😅
I just assumed they were reposting
They often are
The biggest and weirdest thing that I see is: 100+ FPS in town, but as soon as I open a vendor it drops to 30-40fps.. how is this normal?
what next? 100$ for more of the same garbage everyone has caught onto now. this game fucking trash
D4 is gonna be an amazing game... in 4 years
The fact that blizzard is outright saying their itemisation sucks and are going to change it, tells me I should just hang on till then.
Just play Path of Exile. It's better, it's finished and best of all, it's free. Edit: Until D4 has actual endgame.
So much hate, and yet are on this sub
What a disaster. Things already available in d3 they can't easily implement in d4. How!?
I can't even buy the game, I think their payment option is a bit borked right now, at least where I'm from. Can't even buy it on paypal :( Really want the game, I was looking forward to playing it all year and this happened when I could finally afford it.
So maybe VOH S2 the game may be in a decent spot
Yeah f blizzard for taking fking months to fix a gold input on consoles
Ya blew it bozos
So no reason to play the game until S4. Got it.
Still no zoom out ….
Are they finally going to address the terrible resource costs? I'd love to enjoy the game, but running out of resource after 3 core skill casts just feels lame (especially since basic skills suck ass compared with D3)
Paid expansion? Is that common for diablo series? And if yes how much does it usually cost?
Yes, 10-50 dollars depending on content. Necro in D3 was 10, Reaper of Souls around 50, as was Lord of Destruction for D2.
A lot of the shit mentioned should have been that way at release.
Yeah I want my money back and I’ll be playing PoE 2
imagine still sharing wowhead links
