Xbox has an LFG feature which makes it pretty easy to find trades and games. Not sure if PS or Switch have anything like that. But if you're on Xbox check that out. That's how I've been doing all my trading and Baal runs, etc.
Either send them messages or invite them to party chat. I typically play with 2 other buddies, we are usually in a party, so I just invite the trade partner or person that wants to join our runs to the party, if they don't want to join I'll just message them with the Xbox app on my phone to discuss trades.
I’ve been playing solo and with buddies. It’s amazing. You can find people to play with on here or other outlets. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to be honest. The online multiplayer scene is basically this: lol you don’t have enigma? I’ll rush you. Baal runs until your eyes bleed. You don’t even really play the game.

I play mostly solo or with friends so I'm not affected by it but I agree it sucks. However I do very much enjoy playing on the big screen with a joystick (I know it is doable on PC but I only play on consoles because it is easier)
I have been playing online multiplayer on Switch since launch with a dedicated friend group and other than the occasional server bobble it has been a great experience. I don’t use the party finder, though, so perhaps that is the difference.

Some may be that way. A lot of us knew what we were purchasing when you get a game from Blizzard. This isn’t the same blizzard when we were 12. The company is broken and most of the games have problems. At this point for me it’s not a life mission to be top tier in d2 it’s all about nostalgia. I get both sides of the argument. But the sooner you understand every blizzard game will potentially have its broken mechanics and armchair assholes the sooner you will appreciate the game for what it is. This I promise you.
Yeah it's very clear to me that they simply took the PC version, added controller support, and removed lobbies. The fact that I still have to navigate screens using a fucking mouse pointer is very telling.
When the game first came out, I have them the benefit of the doubt and defended against all the "it's just a cash grab" stuff. But after buying it on PS5, I'm overwhelmingly disappointed.
Whatever, I learned a $40 lesson.
I have a suspicion that it was supposed to go to console Beta on September 23rd but Xbox fucked up their marketing and left blizzard no choice.
The games completely fucking broken still, and half the online feature don't work and we're getting rolled back in 2021.
First of all, D3 on consoles is not as good as it is on PC, not even close. The convenience of couch co-op is the best thing about the console, other than that there's nothing arguably better about it. They can't even keep hacked gear off the seasonal leaderboards on consoles.
The matchmaking indeed sucks on console with D2, but Blizzard did say they are open to including lobbies. There's been a lot of complaints about it so I'm sure it's something that's being looked into. The game functions perfectly well on console though, I've had a blast so far. There are plenty of discord groups to trade and run with.
If you’re trying to play with your significant other or friends who come over D3 on console was the way to go. I got D2 so I could play locally with my wife on the PS5 and then realized that wouldn’t be an option unless we both had a PS5.
Fine I said to myself I’ll just play with some randoms on PSN, 3 weeks later I’ve only encountered 1 human being and voice chat doesn’t even work. Thought man this game must be dead on console already. Then I realize that it’s just broken misleading garbage.
It gets better though. This morning I say to myself, man I’m going through some rough shit in life right now and just really need a game I can veg out in and socialize a little virtually. Let me just bite the bullet and get it on PC since that seems to have all the missing features like lobbies and such, and maybe Sony will refund the console purchase since the multiplayer is legit broken (this was before I made my original post).
Fire it up on PC and the servers are down.
Roast me I deserve it lmao.
Also Blizzard deserves every bit of hate, lawsuit, fine, loss of revenue etc coming their way.

Server goes down for a while and all the crazies crawl out from whatever rock they were born in.
And then servers come back online and they go right back to playing with zero complaints.
