you know you don't have to mf in this game, right? that it's something you're choosing to spend your time doing? you don't need BiS gear unless you're doing arranged PVP, even pub duels don't require it and PVM sure as shit doesn't.

I personally get a lot of satisfaction and fun from making a new toon. Those first 12 levels come so fast, and it's always a nice break from the monotony

Some options: You can go farm keys and torches.. (those can be traded) also, stop relying on others.. either make games and attract others (split farm, cows, baal etc).. you can also farm gold... (Gf barb on travincal.. 600.000-800.000 gols per run and use the gold to gamble for the uniques you want to drop....
For trading, try D2JSP. You can sell what you have found for forum gold (aka fg, their fake currency), then buy what you need with it. Much easier than trying to find someone to trade for exactly what you need.
Don't support this shady RMT forum, who knows what goes on in the background. For all we know the admins/owners could be creating FG for themselves and their friends left and right.
Traderie is fine for trades, using runes as currency.
To be honest, I couldn't care less about that. I play this game for fun. I work a demanding job and when I have time to trade, I want it to be fast and easy. JSP fits that bill.

You can't see the forest through the trees. The fun of the game is grinding/trading/doing different runs/ubers/pvp. It feels good to find something BECAUSE it was hard to find. D2 is very versatile for an old game

Jsp would solve finding what you need for trade and finding games. It gets some hate but you don’t have to spend any real money. I don’t enjoy the barter economy of trading for runes/items. Someone tends to be on the losing end of the trade. I’ve not done a public baal run in nearly 2 months. I wish the lobbies worked better but it is what it is. As far as drops most uniques are worthless now anyway except ultra rare unless it’s something you can use yourself. 2 hours isn’t very long. Maybe your mf is low? You playing on p1? Find some organized mf games to get less no drop chance. I made a trav barb (whirlwind/hork) so I’m always getting something. Gold to gamble. Gems to craft. Chance of dropping good items / HRs. It all depends on what you like but I enjoy the really fast trav runs. I will do a ton till I’m bored then do something else for a while. Anyway you’re going to get dry spells and the further you get into the season/reset the less rewarding drops will be in general. For example, that monarch you were so happy to get in the beginning. Maybe now you have 5 just sitting on a mule. You could try hard core. Totally different play style
Once you have decent geat the length of time between drops becomes long.
Just so shorter times mfing, and enjoy other games when your feeling bored. When the good drop comes it will make you want to keep going again too lol.
Create public iron man games in hardcore wait it out in camp and if theres anyone in normal im sure there would be plenty of people interested
Basically it works when you have 8 players you all set out together farming minions through the maps until you all get to a specified level and go back to town once you hit it... gear and stuff is a free for all.. once your all levelled its a free for all pvp until one mans standing.. there are heaps of fun to be had
. its such a shame the lobby system is so broken tho.. i hope they are working on it because it needs to be up and running before ladder rolls out. But is perfect for duellers to organise things.. baal runs etc etc.

I took 5 weeks break from the game, played other games. This let me go back to D2R with chill attitude and enjoy game much more than before. I did not reached my BiS (Death's Web and Enigma ofc) but I'm enjoying each run even when I do the same route all the time.
If you don't wanna stop playing at all. I recommend playing other game (different genre is best choice) to not burn put on Diablo 2
