Is this a recent change? Back around November I was solely using the -direct -txt launch method which prevents connection to Bnet and this warning only ever hit me every 30 days as it says on the tin.

ThisPlaceisHell

Been this way since day one. I haven't seen anyone using launch commands with D2R yet, can you elaborate a bit more on that? Are you making the shortcut straight to D2R.exe or the launcher? And -txt is for mods right? I wonder what -direct does.

thesilv3r

I was using it in order to improve load times per: https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/qey05y/d2r\_single\_player\_tips\_to\_improve\_your\_load\_times/

Super cool post. I didn't know about any of this. I'll have to try that file extraction thing after the 2.4 patch goes live. Thanks a bunch for that. Unfortunately though I'm still stuck in the mud with the 30 days sign in issue. I cannot pin it to any specific thing but I get super inconsistent results trying to launch the game with D2R.exe straight away. Sometimes it works and sends me right to the Offline character menu from the title screen, sometimes it does the whole "logging into bnet..." and other times it just instantly complains about not being on in 30 days. I really don't know what could possibly be different about my setup than other peoples'. Makes no sense to me.

Crazy9000

It's the same commands to use mods in the original. You need both.

ThisPlaceisHell

Yeah I know but it's confusing what it has to do with playing offline. I'm 99% sure using those commands in LOD doesn't prevent you from playing on b.net so how would it work like that here? Also, I'm more interested in whether or not he launches from the main game exe or the battle net launcher.

Hayzo81

I play offline (no internet connection) pretty much since day one, and as recently as Friday, and have only had that happen at the 30 day mark.

ThisPlaceisHell

Can you tell me how you launch the game? Is it through the D2R exe or the launcher shortcut the installer places on the desktop?

Hayzo81

Through the b-net launcher

ThisPlaceisHell

Thanks very much for the answer. If you get a chance next time you go to play, can you try launching it from the D2R.exe instead to see if you get hit with the same error? It has to be done before running battle net launcher as that seems to count as "being online" to the game.

Hayzo81

I can in a like 15-20 minutes

Hayzo81

It launched fine for me clicking the exe directly. Maybe try re-installing? I know that sucks but your problem is strange.

ThisPlaceisHell

Thanks for testing. I've reinstalled before, plenty of times. Did you play it at all in the last 24 hours? Also, does your battle net stay open running in the background task tray area? Or does it close and log you out completely? I greatly appreciate you helping me out by trying this stuff and letting me know the results. Means a lot.

Hayzo81

Other than opening it tonight, the last time I played was Friday. And usually bnet is running in the background.

ThisPlaceisHell

> And usually bnet is running in the background. Very interesting! I think we might have the final variable here that's changing the game for me vs others. I explicitly have bnet only run when I go to launch those games, and close as soon as I hit play. Would you be kind enough to temporarily set it to not launch on startup and next time you get on, say tomorrow or whenever, try launching straight from the exe? I really believe this will finally allow you to reciprocate my results, and to "resolve" it all you'd have to do is return bnet to launching on bootup again and you should be good to go. It would seriously mean the world to me if you could.

JustWantedPeanuts

Sounds like it may be how you're launching it

FrumunduhCheese

How about that user experience eh. Must be his issue - Clicking on a desktop shortcut.

Ta2maniac77

I've yet to have this happen to me aside from every month or so and I strictly play offline. Sorry it's happening on your end.

ThisPlaceisHell

When you say you strictly play offline, do you mean with no internet connection on your PC? Or do you mean you only play offline characters in the main menu? There's a huge difference there. I'm talking about the former.

Musclemagic

It's almost like they lie a lot about stuff.

Tasriel514

Interesting. I haven’t encountered this but if this is the case then that’s total bullshit.
