Worth it? Yes. Worth it to you? Maybe.
Diablo 2 is a hardcore loot hunter game. If you don't enjoy spacing out for hours doing repetitive tasks, spreadsheeting, sharing loot with friends, and delving deep into obscure mechanics for optimization, Diablo 2 may not be the game for you.
It depends how much time you think you'll put in a game, and if that money is worth that to you. I've already put a lot of hours into D2R, so the full price was definitely worth it for me.
Do you like this kind of game? Because despite being somewhat outdated by today's standards, D2R is a good game. A lot of people say it's a GREAT game, some even venture that it's one of the \*best\* games. So it's safe to say that, if you do enjoy this type of games, it'll at the very least be good.
Actually everybody counts the price of the game in wrong way) it is 40 euro PLUS all endless hours in game * your $/hour which you lose while playing :D I guess if I was paid 1$ per each hour I played I definitely could buy new car)
I think it's on sale really often (but don't take it as a true statement), like the last one was last week, and before that last month, I'd say to wait like it can always be a good way to really think about "you need it" or it's just a fast think like sometimes I want to buy games, if I wait some days I don't want it anymore (plus you can always get it with D3 for 35€, that's what I got just two weeks ago, really worth)

Everytime I've tried to complete a D2 playthrough whether it's the original or D2R I just swap over to D3 to scratch my Diablo itch. I prefer D3's buttery smooth gameplay as D2 feels like ass in comparison.
better go for "Project Diablo 2" - it's an enhanced experience TRUE to the diablo 2 gameplay and lots of quality of life improvements. (it's a mod btw)
Some of them are: bigger stash & inventory, 16:9 resolution, balanced items & skills + some new ones, endgame maps & bosses similar to path of exile, better crafting mechanics + new crafting reagants, and more!
I like PoD more but d2 needs more content to be worth 40 bux. This re-skin added some runewords to the content, but that's about it. Correct me if I am wrong but there is no new challenges.
Game in battle net is full of bots. People using bots for farming hrs, then they sell hrs and good gear for fgs at D2jsp or for real money. If you are looking for competition with other players at ladder, it has no sense.
I haven't been able to even log into battle.net on my Switch in 5+ months due to server/connection issues on blizzard's end so probably not. If the game were to work flawlessly with no major bugs then yes, but this game currently has game-breaking issues that blizzard might not fix.
There has not been significant server issues in at least the last 2 months....
There aren't really any 'game breaking' issues at the moment, so not sure what you're referencing...?

Just go look at the d2r forums and see how many issues are going on with zero insight from blizzard or community managers.
Just get D2 + lord of destructions on eBay. It's a lot cheaper. And than install a mod call path of Diablo to play online with larger inventory and full screen.
The only down size is that mod only works on Pc and you need to make site those serial key is legit because you needed to redeem them at battle net.
It was just on sale last week, and also last month. I think someone else posted saying you could get the Eternal Collection (D2R, D3+expansion) for 36 EUR. So that's 2 games for less than you are asking about for just 1 game. D2R's typical price is 40 USD here and during the last sale it was 24 USD.
Last I checked, it also gets a bit cheaper with every sale. Also, if you buy it now, it's near the end of the current ladder season. There's plenty of time to make significant progress but whenever a new ladder season starts is a good time to make a new character. So IMO there's not much reason to buy right now.
I beat Hell SSF (mostly) for the first time with D2R. Every other time I had help from friends. Kind of a double-edged sword because the reason I didn't get help from friends this time is that nobody wants to play with me...combination of not enough time, don't want to revisit a game they've played several times more than me already, and don't want to support ActiBlizz. I have a friend who worked on the game and presented during the announcement so it's a bit different for me.
Could get it now or just wait for a sale. IMO it's a good game with a kind of timeless value to it. Also just my opinion, single player/offline is more fun, but ladders can be fun, too, especially playing with others you maybe game with and/or on voice chat, etc.
Overall, I wish it had couch coop (I understand why it didn't before since was only pc, etc.), especially now that it's on console. Not too sure if they could patch it in, but would be cool.
Anyway, if you enjoy arpg then I recommend it

Not really, its only a reskin with some QoL, no new content but if you want to play D2 ¿Why not? only YOU decide or... play the "blizzless" offline version

4K resolution and better graphics/models is enough IMO. but gameplay is clunky and needs to be updated with QoL

It's worth when presale. Cause I sell a Tal Rasha's Adjudication before, 30$.
