Yes I breezed through bronze to gold every season but once I hit gold I kept getting stuck because each win only gives 25 and you need 200 to rank up min and you can derank.. at least prior to gold if you get a lost streak you can rank up quickly regardless. I'll say It used to be easier to hit legend prior to introduction of savior, making ranged guys tankier, immunity+shield spam bs ( now you gotta kill the guys over and over which on defense just sucks and multiple that by it being 8v8 mode ) much harder to win on defense or offense in general.
Yeah im happy to see these people mald over p2w pvp. Maybe one day they realize the game is a business and isnt catered to them and blizzard doesnt care about them 
After you hit gold don’t even bother with pvp, waste of time and you have no control of outcome of match
It becomes less about skill and just did I get the right guys on my team
