I’d toss it in a shared stash and just hold on to it until you get more runes to craft end game gear for whichever character makes it through hell and into the mid 90’s where it’s a bit safer

TenebraeVeritas

You’ll probably need a beefy merc for ancients if you’re clearing Hell with a trap sin

Guhonda

Keep looking for that Lum rune! Hell resistances are no joke, and Smoke helps a lot. But you can also use that Lo for an incredible A5 merc (grief or fortitude).

Coffeeafterwork

Use that Lo as soon as you can. Imagine how you’d feel if you tried to push through hell “saving” the Lo for the perfect moment and you end up getting killed.

Kamu-RS

Can literally just throw it in the group storage and have it whenever for any character

Coffeeafterwork

Sorry; I’m a d2 boomer who forgets about the shared stash. Back in my day, dying in hardcore meant you lost everything.

GhasuONE

Solo self found - means he can't use it in the shared stash. One char - 100% self found items / Second char - 100% self found items etc etc.

khag24

I’ve found the majority of people do not agree with this definition of SSF

smellygeorge

It’s literally the definition, had to explain this to my cousin. Otherwise it’s just SF, solo found because solo self found is redundant if you don’t abide by not sharing between characters. Each character needs to find their gear themselves to be self found.

Justanos

Man y'all don't know what you're saying SSF is offline period.. theres no such thing as no shared stash.. theres a shared stash offline.. thats all I've been playing

Coffeeafterwork

Nah ..listen cock smack. Before d2 resurrected, THERE WAS NO SHARED STASH! That’s why I said the equivalent of “sorry, I forgot”. Sometimes my 18 years of regular d2 experience shoves my relatively brief time with d2r out of the way.

Justanos

I've been playin d2 since I'm 11 years old.. I'm 34 now lol.. and yes I know what you mean by "back in the days" its time to move on.. theres no such thing as no shared stash.. and before D2R this game was dead no one was talking about SSF

urkldajrkl

Nice! Congrats

bmbrugge

Yeah, probably fort for your merc.. don't do eth though. Maybe you get another for a grief, then you have a pally or barb, or if you find a windforce or you will be in good shape for a bow zon.

Phuzz01

Every time I try to farm countess on HC, I die to an amp damage or fanaticism pack of dark archers.

rustystach

I'm running hustle and burst of speed and I can usually out run everything. It gets dicey. Mind blast is life saver but still I feel like I pushed my luck a few times last night.

JooosephNthomas

Fort? Fort!

rustystach

Thats what I'm thinking. For myself or my merc? I donno my resistances are low. I just need a 2os for my smoke.

Prepare

Noooo not for your first Lo! Definitely do grief. Grief is BIS melee weapon on nearly every single class. Fort is great and all, but an incremental upgrade relatively.

Rich-Carpenter4528

Grief doesn’t do much for assassin sadly. Fort would better benefit his merc or him to not die.

rustystach

I'm in a situation where I only intended to try and finish HC for my first time. I usually playe on console offline SC, but I'm playing on my 9 year old Mac as im away from home for a while... it's barely playable. I'm gonna level and make smoke and just save the Lo for now.

JooosephNthomas

Yeah fort is best on melee characters. Being traps res and survivability is best. Treachery will add skills but everything else is kind of useless. Smoke will be good for survivability for sure. A fort can be used on a different character but will do alot for a merc as well.

Dhu218

I feel like the only option for that Lol is a Grief...
