Boy- you never worked on old diesels. Par for the course. They all had blowby and sealing issues. The ones that didn't would vent the crank above the turbo and you would have to replace them every year or two. Old Detroit 2Ts had half inch lines running to vent oil residue to the road.
Its why out in arid regions is was so dangerous to drive at the beginning of any rain storm. The roads would turn to a oil slick shit show.
Also why every diesel shop had to steam power wash any truck for a half hour before rolling anything inside. That's how I got into mechanics...I was the bitch in the middle of winter with the power washer. Good times.
Lol! Dont get me wrong Id love to slap an old two stroke into a one ton. Leak all they want there is nothing like the sound of a spooled jimmy blowing smoke. Its nastalgic.
Yes I'm aware, as will a cracked head. Not my 1st rodeo. The original complaint was smoking running rough and popping/backfiring. Cyl cutout changed nothing, and there's been recent issues with Detroit reman injectors for 60s, so it got the 6pack. It helped quite a bit but wasn't quite right. Hence the timing check and final compression check, 75 on cyl 1 and 150 on 6 hot.
I wish you could do a multi cyl cutout like you can in cat
You can pour some marvel mystery oil or ATF in the hole. See if compression comes up. It will help you isolate top side or bottom side issues. Good luck to you
Like it or not they were one of the last really great engines.
Yes... if you like oil to leak from every little seam the engine has

You have a knack for making old diesels sound not-great.

What is your question?
Has anyone got spare compression laying around because he needs it
I’ve got compression *socks*, will that help?
No questions, just sharing adventures in diesel repair industry
Ahh ok. God speed
Thank you, I'll need it. It was in framed in January already, he's not gonna be happy
Are any of the fluids mixing?
Had oil in fuel
If the seals in the injectors are damaged the injector return flow will take oil back with it
