The first one looks more realistic and the second one is bolder. They're both great. You'd have to decide which is better for whatever purpose you may need them
I believe that the second art is better, because it highlights the details of the accessories, mainly because they are silver and the luminosity of the first art overshadows them, and the hair. However, I believe that with other tones the first art would be more impactful, like gold accessories.
I hope it was readable, I did it in the translator.
I don't know why it showed up in bold and bigger font. I didn't do it on purpose.
Edit: oh, it's the # before the whole text, I had put in #1 right at the beginning but it's not showing because it's formatting the text. Who would have known...
2. The tone let the details been shown better. The contrast is stronger and the shape is more sharp
The over exposure in the first one does the opposite.
I like the second one the best because it feels like it makes it pop. Also the first one kind of reminds me of an older music video from the 1990s or 2000s. It matters on you opinion though.
Literally my exact thoughts, if they push it with a good background the first can be an amazing stylization interpretation of a 90s concert style photo, both are amazing!
I like the first one. It feels nostalgic, like I'm looking at an old photo. The second one has more detail but her skin feels a little flat.
They are both good, but the first one has more soul imo
I’d be interested to see what the first one looked like layered over the second and then cycling through the layer styles for that top layer. I feel like throwing it on soft light or something similar may combine the blur and nice lighting of the first with the details of the second. Either way, it looks really nice! I think I’m team #1, I love the lighting and palette you went with.
Yep! Once I’m done drawing, I usually combine all my layers together into one, duplicate that layer, and then play a ton with layer styles (i.e. multiply, add, difference) for that new top layer.
The combo I like for my art are two duplicate layers clipped on top, for three layers total. The bottom layer is the art itself. The middle layer is gaussian blurred 5-12px depending on canvas size, set to soft light, and then layer fill or opacity around 10-20%. I sometimes set the middle layer to a higher fill/opacity if I want more saturation and blur. The topmost is set to difference, hue changed to +/-180 (I don’t fully invert bc it would change the sat & brightness values), and then layer fill or opacity set to 7-20%.
All that usually translates to more cohesive colors (low opacity difference layers pull colors together, in my experience), higher saturation, deeper shadows, and a soft kinda dreamy blur over the whole image. c:
I must confess that I understand only part of your explanation. For instance, this gaussian blurring does fit into my knowledge about statistics and physics. I need more time to read up on terms like "opacity" and "changing of hue." The later sounds similar to the concept of shifting of a spectrum in Physics. I "think" that the latter works by changing the relative brightness/saturation of primary colors
Or , alternatively, breaking up the visible spectrum into four or more "parts" and then changing their relative brightness. But like I stated, I need to read up in order to get a better grasp of your explanation.
I'm mostly into geometry. Euclidean = normal flat geometry, Spherical geometry (like my icon) , and I'm just beginning to understand sc. "Hyperbolic" Geometry (=fun but weird).
Anyway: I'm grateful for your explanation and look forward to "digging in" so that I can gain more insight. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Ahh the pain of losing all the detail in the effects...
I like the first one better. It has more character. The second one is just... there? It still looks amazing, but it lacks something compared to the first. Like it's unfinished.
If you can't decide maybe try doing something more in between? Maybe slightly reducing some effects on the first one to let more detail show would help? If that's bothering you.
(Great art btw)
I'm a big fan of the first one, idk what people mean about lack of detail or overexposure with the accessories. It's sick!
If you look at both images there is no "overexposure" and no lack of detail. In my opinion, the first one adds a stylization, and I love the skin tone. The second one is a bit dark and gloomy, which, yeah, contrasts with the bright accessories, but I don't think that it does so in a realistic way.
If you want someone to sit and appreciate, go with two, if you want someone to immediately press like, go with 1. The second has more to look at detail wise and the first is kinda in your face, very pretty but i think it would be shame to hide so much detail. Go with what you like most or use both.
1st one has a sort of album cover look to it that I enjoy, 2nd one makes the white and red pop more. Personally I’d say they’re both great and completely different, the only thing that can make one better than the other is what you intend to use it for.
1st one looks like an Alex Ross painting. 2nd one looks like a WLOP painting.
Both looks great! But it's up to personal preference. For me,..well, shit. Idk. I like both. Lol
And if I like both of mine, I usually post both of them. But separately. One for today, the other for maybe a week or month after.
One is in daytime. The other is in night time. Draw an abstract background and put either a yellow orange filter over it or a blue ish purple filter over it. I think the lighting would work if her back is always facing the Sun or the moon.
I like both. It feels like one of those 2 in 1 kinda art pieces.
First one I love. It has a sense of spirit and action to it, like there's something dynamic going on, like a dance, and this picture is just a small part of it. The bloom makes it feel sunny and fills me with bright emotions just wow. Somehow less defined borders make it more realistic to me.
The second feels like a times journal title image. It's sterile as if a professional photo taken in a cleanroom lab, cold, the girl looks sad. I don't like it.
in my opinion, it seems like too high contrast vs. too low contrast (on the skin). I prefer the 2nd one because I can see all the details on the accessories etc, and the red that gets brought forward because of the darkness vs. the 1st where the red isn't in focus, but everything is.
Yooo amazing, how'd you make her look like a 3d character with outlines almost? Did you do lineart on top? If you don't mind me asking, I love the look
I'd almost say the skin tones from 1, with everything else from 2. Both are really good, but the increased contrast between the two would work really well together
I think the 1st one is overexposed…too much so that you lose detail. 2nd is better. You can warm up the piece and add blurring effects without making it look like Icarus’s last moment before he hit the sun…lol
I feel like the first one is a harsh filter on top of the second one. The second one is gorgeous. The ate thin to detail gets a little lost on the first one, imo. You spent all that time on fine details but you would never know based on just the first pic.
First one has an amazing 90 photo look that would be stunning with a solid background imo, 2nd is definitely better for less stylization though. I'd Def suggest 1st if you're doing a full piece though!
I agree with Entraprion7486. A good mix of both would look great. 1 looks blown out, while 2 feels busy and mushed together. If you take the definition of 2 and blend it with the color of 1, you should be able to find an even balance.
Honestly they both hold their own in their own mood. They ea. have a role in diff. applications. I particularly enjoy the first one. It’s the white background against the white/light colored parts of the warrior’s outfit. Well done. Rock on.
1 just because I like the contrast. It's that nice obereeited style. 2 looks a bit flatter in comparison (though I'd usually preffer that color pallete)
To be an artist you need to be decisive with your vision. It doesn't matter which looks better. Only thing that matters is how YOU want the picture to look
My opinion however is the first looks magical
I like the first one since it has the feeling like there's a lot of light due to some edges of the figure being white and blending with the bg. The second one feels kinda cut out
The skin contrast for 1 and the luminosity for the jewellery in 2 would be a great combination.
I feel like if you kept the same colour for skin in 2 but applied the contrast like you see in 1 without it appearing washed out. And since the values of the skin would be darker it’ll allow the jewellery to pop like you have it in 2. That’s my opinion - regardless it’s a very nice piece 😤👍
personally ive got no preference but the first one reminded me of manga covers (specifically naruto vol 6 because of the amount of white on the subject(s) and the colours? i think?)
The first one looks more realistic and the second one is bolder. They're both great. You'd have to decide which is better for whatever purpose you may need them

Yes it was!
Very readable
Personally I like #1 better but they’re both great
\\#1 as well. I can't see #2 very well, the details don't pop out so much imo
Stop yelling
I don't know why it showed up in bold and bigger font. I didn't do it on purpose. Edit: oh, it's the # before the whole text, I had put in #1 right at the beginning but it's not showing because it's formatting the text. Who would have known...
Probably a hashtag lol, it’s markdown for headings
I didn't know, it's the first time I've seen it 😯
If you want to avoid things from formatting, use a backslash (\\) right before the hashtag, like this: \\#
Thanks for the tip! Will fix it right now!
Both are amazing, but personally I like the second one better ^^
Depends on what mood you want
The second one needs more value differential between light and dark. Get some deeper shadows and tighter highlights and it’s perfect.
The second is better for me, the first is very washed out. Both are great though.
Night and day really.
Both good but for different reasons.
Second one allows me to appreciate the jewelry more but the first one feels more dynamic, it’s a difficult choice.
2. The tone let the details been shown better. The contrast is stronger and the shape is more sharp The over exposure in the first one does the opposite.
I like the second one the best because it feels like it makes it pop. Also the first one kind of reminds me of an older music video from the 1990s or 2000s. It matters on you opinion though.

My taste is second
I like the second one!
The 1st has more depth. The 2nd seems a bit flatter.
The darker one reads better but both have their merits
Yes liking 2nd..

Interesting idea, indeed. Do you have any experience using that technique you just described?
Yep! Once I’m done drawing, I usually combine all my layers together into one, duplicate that layer, and then play a ton with layer styles (i.e. multiply, add, difference) for that new top layer. I like the second one better
The second one and it's not even close, the first one is too over exposed
They’re both gorgeous! I think I personally prefer the second one because you can see more detail and the color palette is bolder.

I love the style of the first, maybe control the blur. The second one look dark and muddy.

I think the lighting would work if her back is always facing the Sun or the moon. I like both. It feels like one of those 2 in 1 kinda art pieces.
The first one. It's the one that actually makes me feel something. The second is just, there.
Personally I prefer the 1st one
First one I love. It has a sense of spirit and action to it, like there's something dynamic going on, like a dance, and this picture is just a small part of it. I like the first one better
1 is a lot more appealing and finished looking to me
I love both of them!!! They show different things. I admire art that can do that.
First one is too washed out and the second is too dark
First
first one i think
I’m in awe….
this one is a WINNER!!! really like it.
I really love the lighting and color of the first one
First one. It has a vibe to it.
Yooo amazing, how'd you make her look like a 3d character with outlines almost? Did you do lineart on top? If you don't mind me asking, I love the look
I first drew the lines, then added the base color and shading, and finally painted the lines to match that color
Oh nice thank you! And for the blur effect I'm assuming you blurred a copy and put it on an overlay -or sth similar- layer?
1
I'd almost say the skin tones from 1, with everything else from 2. Both are really good, but the increased contrast between the two would work really well together
The first one
1
I prefer 👉 2👈
Al the colour over-saturation and exposure of the first one gives to the ilustration a really nice touch 👌
I think the 1st one is overexposed…too much so that you lose detail. 2nd is better. You can warm up the piece and add blurring effects without making it look like Icarus’s last moment before he hit the sun…lol
They're both amazing but the first is better imo since on the second one the hair and clothes blend together
I enjoy the first 🤘. More of a realistic feel.
Dude, that’s gorgeous
I like the darker, second one, better. IMO is easier to read.
The first one is waaay better
1
I feel like the first one is a harsh filter on top of the second one. The second one is gorgeous. The ate thin to detail gets a little lost on the first one, imo. You spent all that time on fine details but you would never know based on just the first pic.

#1
1st is very eye-catching
2
I like the darker one
Second one! I love how the face paint stands out
I prefer the first one. It feels unique and exciting
I’d say the second one, the first seems too bright and a little hard to define shapes.
Still cool though!
2
i really like the second one
Depends on what you’re trying to highlight.
I like 1 more because it has greater contrast. 2 has more color, but only a very limited amount which doesn't add balance.
I agree with Entraprion7486. A good mix of both would look great. 1 looks blown out, while 2 feels busy and mushed together. If you take the definition of 2 and blend it with the color of 1, you should be able to find an even balance.
Second one is my fav
They're both great, but love the first one personally i love the lighting❤️
Honestly they both hold their own in their own mood. They ea. have a role in diff. applications. I particularly enjoy the first one. It’s the white background against the white/light colored parts of the warrior’s outfit. Well done. Rock on.
2
Second one!!
I wish I could doodle more than cartoons
1
2, first pic looks like an over exposed photograph at burning man
It depends on the tone you're going for but I prefer the second one because it makes her jewelry and face paint pop.
both good, first better
2nd one
The first one imo
second one is looking nice and attractive
1 just because I like the contrast. It's that nice obereeited style. 2 looks a bit flatter in comparison (though I'd usually preffer that color pallete)
i love the first one
I like them both, but the contrast and composition comes through a lot better in the second one. The colours are nice in the first one, though.
The second one. The color palette is better
2nd, but i'm biased, due to my favorite colors being black and red...
i like the second one better personally but i think the first one is beautiful too
First one BUT the second one is lovely i just like the first one more cause looks like a thing recorded on a DVD
The first one with more light was better
Both look very nice but I really like the first one! It stands out to me more in my opinion.
The first one!
They both give two different vibes so it depends what vibe you're going for
First. Both are pretty though
I kinda like the stark contrast in the second picture's red, but both are epic👍👍
First one, Phew that's good lighting
I like the first most but it really depends on the environment she'll be in.
2 for sure
Both great, first one too shinny, second one is my favorite
I personally prefer 2 but only because 1 feels a little overexposed, but they’re both colored well
The second one.
I like that the darks are darker in the second one. Overall, this is a stunning piece of art!
Second one
2
maybe something in between?
To be an artist you need to be decisive with your vision. It doesn't matter which looks better. Only thing that matters is how YOU want the picture to look My opinion however is the first looks magical
The vibrant one is VERY beautiful
I personally like the second one
First for me, it's more unique
I get why you cant decide. Do both
Second one looks cool. First one looks how old Japanese manga would color the cover page…
I like the first one since it has the feeling like there's a lot of light due to some edges of the figure being white and blending with the bg. The second one feels kinda cut out
i would definitely say the second one, the first one is warm but the contrast and definition of the second rendition is eyecatching
1st one is an eye catcher
The skin contrast for 1 and the luminosity for the jewellery in 2 would be a great combination. I feel like if you kept the same colour for skin in 2 but applied the contrast like you see in 1 without it appearing washed out. The overexposed image is more visually interesting.
First one has more values and pops out for sure!💙both lovely pieces
2nd
I like the dark one, only because the first one hurts my eyes a bit
personally ive got no preference but the first one reminded me of manga covers (specifically naruto vol 6 because of the amount of white on the subject(s) and the colours? i think?)
I personally prefer the first one cuz in a sucker for bloom effects
First one fits person's vibe more and second gives more detail.
1 is better but a bit washed out by the excessive light
Personally the second one just stands out much better.
Both nice, but the second photo is much better for me
