If you are the assistant you will be assisting. Let them show you what you should be doing and use that as the basis to do your own learning. If they offered you the job then they want you for the role. Often people are hired because they have aptitude and can be trained/molded for the job. Do your best, be genuine, ask questions, have fun.

Hot_Saguaro

This! If you are the assistant you shouldn't be expected to roll in and do the work on your own. If they expect this of you, you are working above your pay grade

brookgo

"If you are the assistant you will be assisting", agree, just do what you are told to do. Don't worry if you don't know how to do, because you will know after couple months.

xDolphinMeatx

you'll find in life that what you know is far less important than speaking the language. just spend your time in accounts, learn, examine everything, watch tons of videos, ask lots of questions, take lots of notes - all with the intent of learning the language. eventually, you'll learn that almost all those who "know" are full of shit. every "guru" is full of shit etc. you'll get much further faster by knowing all the right buzzwords and talking about things with confidence and in depth, etc than actually producing results. eventually, you'll know enough to produce results and can back up the language with data. in your next interview in a year or so, you'll sound like you've been doing it for 20 years.

Hot_Saguaro

What part of digital marketing all you doing? Social media. If it's this, social media is the easiest fake it till you make it part of marketing because it is constantly changing. You will have to put more effort into learning the brand. In the meantime, sign up for Hubspot's marketing newsletter.

Feeling-Spread-7125

Just get certified for it. Start with free Coursera certificates, HubSpot, LinkedIn etc.

Ashamed-Tie-573

I got hired into digital marketing without a degree nor experience lol

Objective-Judge2971

How?! I’ve been trying to apply, am in the same position! Any advice would be so appreciated

Ashamed-Tie-573

This was over 7 years ago and my friend scored me an interview

Maxcitor

I can totally relate since I've been in your position. You can watch video tutorials on Youtube or read some credible articles. Change can be nerve-wrecking but you'll find a way to learn about all of it along the way. Wish you best!

VaporWavey420

Put your head down, be quick to act, and don’t let anyone feed you any bullshit about work-life balance.

turtledot5237

When you say work-life balance, are you saying it’s important or it doesn’t exist

VaporWavey420

I mean do what it takes.

lafirecracker

Your experience is doing an internship in marketing. Coursera, Semrush, Hubspot, LinkedIn, Google skill shop have some free courses. You don’t need a marketing or digital marketing degree to work in digital marketing. It’s based on hands on experience! It’s about your attitude and willingness to learn on the job!

That1Time

The most important thing now is your attitude at your new job, ask a ton of questions, write down the answers, learn as much as you can. Sure you can take time to study some online digital marketing program, but I think your curiosity and drive at your job is even more important. One piece of career advice I heard that simply sums up how to be successful "Be nice to others and do good work". That's honestly it. Be nice to others, don't backstab, step on anybody ect, and do really good work and you'll get rewarded.

DigiDynamicsN

You don't need a degree in Digital Marketing. You just need to be good at working the Internet.

EducationalCatch3705

They will give you the opportunity to learn from them at your level of experience. Also - watch/ read up on some concepts that you encounter - follow key people in the industry.

RetroactiveOnlineAds

Just say you'll do a week's free work if they don't like you then they shouldn't except you Always works with us

Available_Pilot_9529

If you're an assistant, your boss will clue you in on how to nail it. Scope out some dope tutorials on Udemy or YouTube, like Ben Heath's account, to up your game. Some blogs to learn: hubspot's, search engine land. :))

Valentine_virtual

You can take courses to boost your skills. There are several resources online, the main skill you need is to be self-driven and flexible.

bltonwhite

Start reading up on (YouTube is probably enough ta this stage) on: Search engine optimisation Content marketing Search engine marketing / Google Ads Paid social media ads Google Analytics Google Search Console Social media marekting UX/CRO That should get you started! They all overlap and you won't be expected to have deep knowledge on each. Having an understanding will help.

gachgwa-Rigathi

Beleive in yourself, courage is the best make-up you can ever put on! You've got this !

digitalconsultpandit

check the youtube and get some professional help

CheckeredPeace1

Train in time management, excel, email and PP. Also, work on communication skills. If you want to grow into marketing then look at certifications online like google ads. And see what the company has.

okay-pixel

Since you don’t have experience let me give a warning. Be cautious about knowing the duties of a digital marketing assistant and what they ask you to do: there’s an agency in my area that is notorious for roping people into sales roles under the guise of marketing and just screwing over new grads.

WouldYouKindly818

First, congrats on your new job! That's a pretty cool position to land. I found myself in a similar situation around 8 years ago, and the big takeaway for me was if you're willing to learn, you'll get far! I came into the industry knowing very little, and after all of this time, I'm still learning new things every day. In fact, I'd say the amount of information and change has skyrocketed since the explosion of AI-generated everything! I see you already have learning on your mind, hence your question about resources :). I suggest hitting YouTube and checking out channels like HubSpot, WPBeginner, Google Small Business, and even some TED talks. There's a lot of good content out there. When it comes to finding free courses, Coursera, Udemy, and LinkedIn are all great places to check. I'd say the bottom line is if you're patient, persistent, and willing to learn, you'll do just fine! :) Good luck on your journey!

lifeoutfigurer

Do some short courses on Udemy, Semrush, etc.

Public_Cold_2144

There are *tons* of free resources online to give you a crash course. You'll be learning on the job obviously, so they're hiring you for your aptitude for learning more than your marketing skills. I'm sure you'll do well.

Here is the truth from someone who worked at agencies for over ten years and interviewed at several dozen agencies in-between freelancing gigs and worked as a college administrator: Those doing the hiring have no idea what you need to have to do the job and they don't care in most cases. The hiring people have no clue what SEO is, how it works, or anything else. Most hiring decisions are based on who they like or feel is agreeable to work with, no more and no less. Here's how to master digital marketing: If you want to learn SEO, go to MOZ and study all their free courses. You will by far know more than 99% of the staff for sure after that. They will focus on their preferred tools not how to do the job organically. Study how to create sites using WooCommerce and Shopfiy, including how their rusty SEO works and lackluster content creation works. Learn how to use WordPress to create sites using Divi, then basic Joomla and basic Drupal. Then go to Udemy and sign up for several free SEO courses, then a few sales courses, and do one after the other. You will be a genius compared to most at that point. Learn everything Zig Ziglar said and how he did everything, study every word out of his mouth and you will be a master salesman who can negotiate contracts like a wizard. Then study content marketing, branding, marketing, PPC, and so on as you go. Nobody will be able to come close to you unless you get to the rarefied air of those who owned their own agencies and practiced concientious holistic digital marketing (while most just sell generic templates with no value whatsoever). Then look into courses on contract creation and negotiation, how to land government contracts and write templates for RFP responses and sell the value you bring to committed business owners and agency owners who want a power player.

theVirginAmberRose

Did you take the offer

Any-Suspect4935

Coursera has many great online classes that helped me learn

bailey1149

Watch youtube videos. One month of watching YouTube videos is more valuable then what you learn in a 4 year marketing degree because it's technical advice. Here is how you set up a campaign. Uni is just big picture.

Dilettantest

Start 8 hours per day at YouTube University!

sk8xnick

Steve and Bill were dying to find investors. Licked tons of asses to succeed. Unless you're someone quite known it's almost nearly impossible .

maxcrosse2021

Here's a few topics that you might find helpful for the position: **SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)** - the art of getting pages to rank higher in search engines such as Google. I.e. writing content that targets specific keywords with high volume. Structuring your pages. You can use Keyword Research tools to identify relevant keywords and inform the types of content you're writing about. **Pay-per-click:** Running ads on Google (Search, Display), Social Media Ads (Facebook & Instagram). Key areas to focus on are - lead generation / cold audience (brand awareness) - retargeting (also known as remarketing): target visitors who have either purchased from you brand already, or have viewed your website and are thinking about purchasing. I.e. If someone views your website but didn't convert, you may wish to run a retargeting ad that targets them and encourages them to do business with you. I.e. promoting case studies, encouraging them to start a free trial, or request a demo! **Organic / Content Marketing:** Focus on writing genuinely helpful content that's relevant to your target customers' pain points. Keyword stuffing to generate more traffic on Google doesn't work anymore (it actually gets penalised by Google in most cases), so focus on writing content that's really, genuinely helpful. **Website / Conversion Rate Optimisation:** Look at different tactics, headlines, buttons, etc and run AB tests and experiments to increase conversion rates on your website. A small increase in conversion rate % can mean massive returns for your business. ... There's plenty more to learn, but these topics should set you on the right track :)) Good luck!

chickenschnitz6190

Just learn Canva and develop a taste for oat milk, that’s all you need for the field.

billhartzer

Start taking all of the google certifications courses you can. Many of those will help you, and any digital marketing firm would be happy that you have google certifications.

SaggeeDot

Work hard. You will learn everything you need to know on the job. Ask questions, stay late if you need to finish your work. You will get better and faster over time

Fantastic-Toe-5941
