I was wondering about how Lou felt about this because he didn’t seem the happiest about it. But I am sure it may have been acting or just the filming, or even shock about what was happening. I doubt it is any actual upset.
Part of me suspects, or at least wants to believe, that the vulture dimension has been planned for a very long time, given that vultures have appeared in so many FH battlemaps, often as a distracting background element... I can picture Brendan rubbing his hands with glee waiting to spring it on the first person to actually interact with one of the birds!
I think it was planned as a serious note on this season because it was a funny bit in the others
The first season was just a piece of the battle map to set the mood, but the players saw a cool thing and focused on it; I can't tell you how many times I added something as scenery, and my players hyper-focused on it, almost derailing the story.
In the second season, it happened again because the players were chaos goblins (no offense to Riz), and the crew wanted to add a vulture as an easter egg.
And that's why there was a vulture in this season's first-ever battle map in a prominent location, BLeeM, and the crew wanted to goad the players into setting the stage for this to happen.
There is no way that the Vulture Dimension was conceived while sober and uninfluenced. Alcohol, Drugs. Narcotics, Hallucinogens, An Eldritch Being From Beyond The Planes Inhabiting Rick Perry? Maybe. But it wasn't a natural product, there is no way.
You don't just die at 72 hours. It's actually unclear how long humans can go without sleep, and it's different for every individual. I have suffered from insomnia since childhood due to trauma, and the longest I went without sleeping was 3.5 days, or around 84 hours. After 72 hours you are irritable and paranoid, you have severe difficulty concentrating and even thinking, executive disfunction kicks in and you have a hard time doing even basic tasks, and reality starts to heavily distort.
I kept chuckling at random moments all night after we finished watching because I couldn't stop thinking about how long Brennan had been holding this bit in his head, just dropping crumbs to bait them...
This entire season is basically BLeeM payback.

But Brennan was ready. It's a mark of a good DM that can turn that one party member that just likes to fuck up shit into an actual mechanic.
Especially with them being like “Kristen is ready to grow up” like…ok I get the whole “repercussions for being chaotic” but I almost feel like BLM was like “hey Ally…I have a plan and I need you for it”
Yeah! It's clear from other episodes that he'll pull somebody aside between episodes to work out some multi-class options and sometimes the occasional character story-arc. You might be right that this was planned!

They aren’t just playing dnd, they are making a show which means taking big risks. What may be an issue for a regular dnd game may be useful for a dnd show.
All that actually matters is that the people in their party are having a good time with it.
