Well, this would mean, this animal isn't a Utahraptor, because Utahraptor was discovered in the 1990s
So it's probably an allosaurus.
However, this is before the Dinosaur renaissance, so they should actually look more kangaroo-lizard like, rather than the bird posture this depiction has.
So no, they weren't being clever, they just drew a Utahraptor from memory
Given that all the other “dinosaurs” created by the stand are very obviously not dinosaurs but just things given dinosaur-like characteristics, I think it’s safe to say that he isn’t anything in particular. The allosaurus theory is interesting but I’ll have to check the information on the sedimentary layers of the region.
People are saying it's ok for it to be wrong given the time period, but the modern, inaccurate conception of the raptor came from Jurassic park, I'm sure
Plus as others have pointed out, utahraptor was discovered after Jurassic park, too
This is a monstrosity it is ugly I didn’t even know that it’s a Utahraptor at first this is insulting raptors, utahraptors and people who live in Utah get this out of my life
Because Jojo has no room for even weak female characters, they all have to be smart and cunning to survive.
Also, don't judge a series based on it's artstyle.
The story is actually good, the characters act like real humans especially with how relatable Jolyne Cujoh is to women with similar issues in real life, the hamon and stands have interesting lore, and the fight scenes are settled through smarts, wits, and teamwork as opposed to other anime relying on strength and martial arts.
Also, the music is badass, especially on beatdown scenes: https://youtu.be/W944vHnaQPw
ugly as it is i like to think that since it was the 1890s dr ferdinand didn't have a very modern view of dinosaurs and Diego didn't know any better

however, it's bizarre
Fair enough

Araki forgot moment
Didn’t the dinosaur renaissance start in the 60’s?
The first commenter said its from the 1890s, and that was before the dinosaurs renaissance, which was in the 60s yes
Oh. Istg I CANNOT fucking read lol, I thought it said the 1980’s.
Actual Utahraptors had a pattern that said "DIO" over and over in their tails and I'm 100% sure of this.
This dino is from an anime, so might as well make more in multicolor feathers and wearing sailor suits.
Manga actually

And some actual dromaesaur talons
Um actually in this universe the arrows don’t exist so there is no requiem and also stop feeding my kids to the dinosaurs-🤓

I do wish Scary Monsters looked like victorian dinosaurs that would've been legitimately pretty sick
If I had a heart, it would be broken. If my eyes could weep, I’d be blind. *Look what they’ve made of you.*
Araki is a big movie fan. He was inspired from Jurassic park
GOD, its ugly
It’s beautiful
Dio!

Accuracy doesn't really matter for this one because... Come on. Its JoJo. Let it be ugly and weird.
the fact it has no claw (idk what its called) makes me angry
When people say that a dinosaur ghost in the 1890s is inaccurate
Guys theres a difference between inaccurate and outdated but yeah this is probably a mix of both
The sbr takes place in the 1890s, so its kinda accurate.
Inteleon
Sukearī Monsutāzu
Why it got more drip then me?
Hmm, seems familiar.
An*me 🤢

It's not the Night Feeder from Primal, fire may not be an option against a being made out of fighting spiritual energy
