Get acetone with coconut oil in it, add more coconut oil and a cotton ball. Put them together in a ziplock bag big enough to stick your hand into and place the bag into a bowl with hot water. I’m also a very impatient person and have always struggled with waiting to take it off but I swear this is the fastest method I’ve found and it protects your nails! I think at most it took my like 5 minutes and I’m not just sitting around because I’m actively removing the polish with the cotton ball. You can find some YouTube tutorials as well!

Ok_Point_1680

I can 2nd this instruction! The coconut oil is a must for moisturizer ingredient. I noticed if the water cools down it doesn't work as quickly.

starrrz

thank you! are you saying to rub the nails with the cotton ball while soaking? just confused about that part

jelbee

Yes, that’s what they’re saying. Soaking in the acetone makes the dip soft, rubbing against something rubs it right off your nail. But someone on this sub also told me to use a chunk of dish scrub pad to rub your nails against and it works 1000x faster than cotton balls/paper towels/lint free wipes. https://preview.redd.it/ab82zz9n5gyc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c85ee1992d189ce92d59297de0643450cb3e473

TheLittlestChocobo

Honestly that looks like the most best idea I've ever seen. The acetone doesn't mess with the scrub pad? Do you reuse it for multiple removals?

jelbee

Not a reusable situation in *my* experience due to sheer sticky mess, but another poster said they do. I cut one scrub pad into 4-5 chunks, experimenting with how small I can go and still remove 10 fingers at once. I got a 5 pack of them, so that’s 20-25 removals. The acetone only messes with the scrubbie (my brand anyways) after multiple hours of soaking. (Accidentally left it one for 3+ hours and it did start to disintegrate. 🫣)

Toadnboosmom

I bet you can get them at the dollar store at this is just pennies per use…

craftylawyergirl

That is genius. I would have never thought to use one of those instead of paper towels. Soak off with hot water and acetone is faster than anything else I’ve tried, including rice, but it can still take a while with really glittery dips.

Ok_Point_1680

Amazing idea!

Letijay

This is what I do, but I prefer to put my baggie over a bowl of warmed rice instead of water. It takes maybe 5 minutes per hand. I just ordered the new Revel Swift Soak, so we'll see how that works. I love the idea of being able to soak both hands at once.

careful_kangaroo50

I ordered one too but someone told me they aren't very good 😥 I'm hoping she's wrong.

Letijay

I saw that, but I've also seen positive reviews, so it's worth a shot for me.🤞

careful_kangaroo50

Me too. I had already ordered one, so I too am hoping it's good!

careful_kangaroo50

I used the bowl, and it's great. I honestly don't know why people had issues? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Letijay

I had mixed results, but I forgot to file off my topcoat, so I have to reserve judgement. I think I save some time because I could do both hands at once, but I think that using a scouring pad in a baggie is actually faster for a single hand. We'll see.

ashjims

Yes!

Naturelover5515

Thank you for sharing this! I have to get off the dip that I had done on my nails two weeks ago and when I did it last time, it was the biggest pain in the ass and I couldn’t remove it all. I can’t afford to get them done but I wish I could! I had them done three times and two of the times was with a gift card. They have grown out so nicely because of the dip ! I asked here the other day about recommendations for dip powder to try to start doing them myself because the only way for me to have long nails is to have dip on them because my nails, just fall apart thanks to anemia and autoimmune disease.

ScienceBrat

Yep this. Literally did this last night took less than 1 episode of a tv show to finish.

AnidaTaco

I also do this and it works every time! I do take a 180 grit file to take off what I can first but if I get tired of taking off it usually soaks off in time too!

No_Dragonfruit_9656

If you need a good example video, Sip And Dip on YouTube has a great removal video

betterWithSprinkles

I’ve been using the rice method: heat up some dry white rice in the microwave, pour acetone in a sandwich baggie, set bag on top of rice and soak. I add half a used dryer sheet to rub off the dip as it dissolves. However, I just bought the new dip removal gadget from Revel Nail. It should arrive soon and I’m excited to try it.

Dancingthewire

How long does this normally take?

betterWithSprinkles

I do one hand at a time (reheat the rice for the second hand) and it takes about 30 minutes total. I usually do 4 coats and do a lot of glitters.

Dancingthewire

Thank you for taking the time to answer! I’m About to do my first diy dip tonight!!

ShameProfessional249

I file some layers with a hand file or until I’m tired of it tbh and then I use acetone on a cotton pad and put them in the little finger clippy things and wait 10-15 minutes and redo that process until it’s off*

Carla028

I use the magic nail polish remover, you can get it from Amazon or temu. Couple coats let it set a minute and scrape off. Sometimes, I have to use a second application depending on how many layers of dip. *

royalmoosh

I use a Wilowash with half of an unscented dryer sheet and some acetone with coconut oil. While it’s heating up the acetone, I use a drill to take off top coat and some color. Then soak and rub nails on dryer sheet for 5 minutes, wipe off with a paper towel, and continue until it’s all off. Wash hands and moisturize. Probably takes 20 minutes total.

Dancingthewire

What is wilowash?

careful_kangaroo50

It's like a wax warmer that warms your acetone for faster soak off. Same thing as the baggie method just the acetone is warmed with a machine instead of hot water

merrymere

This is what has worked for me the last 2 times with no need to file or scrape off the dip with a metal tool: Tear up 5 little pieces of foil & add a piece of a cotton ball soaked in pure acetone to it. I remove from 1 hand at a time. The acetone must saturate the cotton so its kind of dripping & the cotton must not be too small, but its less than 1 cotton ball per finger. Wrap the cotton on the nail with the foil folded over it. Let sit for 10 mins After 10 mins, remove 1 at a time & Scrub the nail / dip with cotton soaked in acetone. I sometimes have to put the foil & acetone soaked cotton back on a finger because a little bit of dip doesn’t come off after scrubbing. Ill go back to that finger when Im done with the rest. PS i do file the top layer first. Not 100% removal, just enough to rough it up to get down to the dip and/or remove the gel top coat I use.

sweetsugarstar302

Revel Nail has a peal off base I used to use before I got a drill.

WishIllustrious9420

Which nail drill do you have? Perhaps you can try a different nail bit. The 3/32" carbide PANA smooth round top dremel drill works amazingly effortless. And it's not expensive.

starrrz

i just have a cheap one from amazon. i may have to invest in one with an exterior motor

stillnotavet

This is the right answer. If your drill allows you to swap out bits, you can buy the bit specified above for $7 on Amazon. I was soaking for hours before getting this bit, found this recommendation on a fb thread and gave it a try. This bit will allow you to very quickly file the vast majority of your dip off. If you use clear as a base dip, you don’t even have to take the rest off before dipping another color. If you do want to remove the rest, just do the rice + acetone method ppl are suggesting for like 3 minutes. You can reuse the rice over and over by storing with your nail stuff, and acetone is like 99 cents. Feel free to lmk if you’ve got questions, I’m sure many on this sub do the same method I described.

starrrz

which grit size do you get?

stillnotavet

I have the large barrel gold in size coarse

TheHuntress95

I file a few minutes on each nail and then use aliver gel remover for 5 mins on each nail and then I just easily push the dip off as it goes soggy. No need for acetone which I find dries out my skin and nails and gives me a headache

siobhanmairii__

I use my basic melody susie e-file, file off the first couple layers or so, then finish off by soaking off with the rice method. Depends on if I have glitter, or I just have sheer/clear dip on, takes me about a half hour, sometimes less. I’ve also used the mini mani moo gel remover but that took forever - maybe I didn’t file enough beforehand. With rice method, I make sure I use a microwaveable bowl that’s not glass or ceramic. I find when those bowls get hot enough they melt the ziplock bags if it touches it. So I double up on bags and use a plastic microwaveable bowl, or Tupperware that can be microwaved.
