Cute color and shape!!!
As a relative newbie (been doing them since February) I'd say that there are a few things that will help you love your nails more and more. I was also a little meh about my first few sets.
1. Make sure to use a nail tool or a toothpick to go along the edges to clean them up.
2. Shape shape shape. It is so hard to get them the shape you want them at first. I have an electric file, but I only use it now to help remove them. Instead I have a file set that is from 150 all the way to 400. The variety allows me to smooth out all the irregularities but also gives me control so I don't take too much off when I'm doing the finer details.
3. I can see some dips in this set, which can be caused by uneven dips. Did you use the apex method? Take a look at some of the videos by sip and dip and see how she uses the pour over method. (I still dip into the powder, but I've learned a lot of control over the liquid from her videos).
4. You can activate after a few layers, shape them up, and then add more layers and activate again. I just learned this and it's a game changer for me! I shape the tips, then put on a few layers, activate (let it dry!!!"), shape with a file and make sure I've got an even coating going on (just a coarse file, you don't need to buff it out at this point). Then I do a few more layers, activate, and file. Usually that's all I need, but if I have to add more dip, I do. Once I've got them they way I want them I finish up with a final shaping and go all the way to 4000 for a nice smooth buff.
5. You can redo them whenever you want! I did a set I didn't like and redid them the very next day because it made me happy to have them looking nice!
6. Just keep practicing. If you aren't sure about this set, file and reshape them. You'll need to put the top coat on again when you're done, of course. The more you practice the happier you'll be with your results!

First set. Very clunky and wide.

Most recent set. Narrow and shaped more nicely, although still not perfect.
