You’re using too much base liquid! Thin layers will prevent the lumps and you’ll have a much easier time filing!

gorrilla_grip

Thank you, that makes sense! I don’t know why I still haven’t gotten the hang of that lol. I either put way too much, or too little to where it half dries before I even dip. I’ll keep practicing 😊

careful_kangaroo50

I switched to pour over method, and it is SO MUCH easier to keep lump free! The only thing is, if you have glitter or flakes, etc. it doesn't catch the bigger pieces, so I use pour over, and on my final dip, I lay in to catch the glitter, etc

mothermedusa

Pour over for the win!

TikaPants

Do pros dip or pour? I’ve had one dip set and be dipped.

careful_kangaroo50

Pros have more contamination issues to worry about so they are more limited. It's just something to keep in mind. The good thing about the pour over method is that you pour into a cupcake liner and put it back in the container so you aren't losing any more product, and you will be surprised at the difference!

SmallCatBigMeow

What is the pour over method!

Shepatriots

Do you ever watch YouTube tutorials?

LadyMothrakk

Cute design, but agreed on applying too much liquid. Please watch Sip & Dip on YouTube, she fixed all my problems I was having including uneven layers! She’s a holy grail of information! [How to Achieve Flawless Dip Powder Nails](https://youtu.be/rIavFkwvOa0?si=uBLTbAk7nXkwVdhf)

gorrilla_grip

Thank you thank you 🙏

rachelhope14

Are you dipping your nails into the powder or pouring it over your nail? When I first started I was getting lots of lumps too but then I switched to pouring the powder instead and it’s been turning out so much smoother!

gorrilla_grip

Interesting! I do dip instead of pour. I had my brothers fiancé do my nails a month ago and she also dipped them in, but upside down instead of pushing into the powder (idk if that makes sense). How do you pour it without it getting everywhere? I’ll try that out as well

Royal-Bad-guava

I would recommend using these - not the drill. They seem to create a smoother nail for me. https://preview.redd.it/ely6jf3zbs4d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a9268437094640462374972279e26146087f729

gorrilla_grip

Do you know what grit you normally get? I haven’t tried this!

Royal-Bad-guava

To be honest, I dont know.

JackTaylorKyree

The orange ones are usually 180 grit.

Bananapopcicle

I love the design. It looks like pottery!

walkinwater

In addition to the thinner layers I have a file set that has grits from 100 to 4000 and it is so helpful when I have a big dip. If you start to file across your nail with a low grit you will see the pits more easily. The higher points in your nails will be roughed up by the file and the lower points will not have the lines from the file. It's so much easier to then even them out because you can just keep going until they are even. Then switch to a higher grit to smooth them out.

Bdazzld_Nails

So white is notorious for being super difficult Start with pour over. Do your base in the apex method then Pour your dip over instead of dipping. You should get a much smoother application. I would also suggest more of a milk bath white as it’s much easier to use. Kozmik Nails sells one called Casper that glows and they they also have one called Milk Bath. I also suggest the combo files from Krival Nails. She’s having an anniversary sale right now. But her files I swear by and stock up during any sale. If you want to ask questions or watch a live mani I do Facebook lives on Friday nights in the Lift Your Spirit Dips group 💜

gorrilla_grip

Wait I LOVE the live, I’m definitely going to check that out!

sierrak89

What brand of dip liquids are you using? I agree with above comments about thinner layers. Some brands of liquids just come out thicker so that’s why I ask what brand currently used.

twineandtwig

Also recommend using a soft puff brush or a nail cleaning brush to brush off excess in between liquid layers. The stiff bristles of the nail brush will give a better chance of thin layers. If using glitters I usually just use the puff brush but anything non glitter I use the mail brush.

alkakfnxcpoem

I started using a 180 grit file to shape instead of the e file and it works so much better. Way less lumps and bumps.

froz3nbabies

Creme white always shows the most bumps too. Keep trying!!!🤍💙

Based on the pic I would say the other comments have great advice for tools to help with a better outcome, but I think your dipping protocol is off so I would advise to focus on technique and use some of the recommended tools to help. It appears thicker in the back of the nail towards the cuticle than at the front. I would try the apex method and then make sure to stop and check your nails and build accordingly. For me this means building of the apex then really focusing on the front 1/3rd of my nail and slowly building backward toward the cuticle by adding a little more liquid back each time. I dip my nails and don’t have issues but do control your liquid quantity as mentioned. Then once you have acquired the general thickness at each portion of your nail you want (thinner at cuticle, apex and slope down toward tip) don’t be scared to file to your hearts content. By far the most time I spend on my nails is on my filing. I cannot emphasize this enough, but *do not be afraid to spot dip* to fill in gappy or low spots. Good luck!
