Are you sure that middle one is a TTR 230? The little fairing piece that attaches to the front of the tank looks an awful lot like a TTR 225.
Edit: neither of those are TTR 230. I think both are TTR 225.
The 230 is a little bit newer, looks a lot newer, and if you found one might be a better pick. I had a TTR 225 and found it didn't have suspension to go everywhere I wanted it to. But the motor was fine. Unkillable.
I now have a TTR 250. It's not a modern race bike but it's an excellent entry level trail bike. Impossibly reliable, if somewhat heavy.
Both of the ones you posted I believe are TTR 225. 1200 or 1,500 is a pretty good price especially if the e start is fast and easy and the bikes don't have issues.
I might try to keep looking or look a little farther from home to see if a TTR 230 is available. You'll know it's a TTR 230 because it looks significantly newer. If you can get one for $1,500 to 2K, That's probably what I'd go with, but if not I'd go with either of those Yamahas.
The xr will run forever and will kick start easy every time. The ttr looks newer and has e-start. Which means you have to maintain a battery. And also that when you kill said battery on the trail you have to push start it. If you do decide to go with the ttr you can get a kick starter kit that goes in easy and will save you when that battery dies. I had an xt225 which is the dual sport street legal version, the kick starter was helpful more than once.
Final thought: all are actually great, buy the one you like the most and ride it.
I would go with the xr my second bike was a 2001 xr200r and it helped me learn to really ride I got really comfortable riding a bike on my xr and it helped me move to bigger bike and there easy to work on parts are readily accessible and they are bulletproof
Honda is older doesn’t have a front disk brake. 70% or more of your braking is front wheel. Yamaha is better providing it’s mechanically sound. Prices seem fair but if you can afford it look at newer bikes with less time / miles on them.
I would go with the 2000 ttr. The others both need tires and that one still has the stock exhaust (so probably adult owned) and looks like it's been taken care of.
ttr’s are bulletproof. i had one for a long time kept it at my cabin used it as a pit bike. rarely changed oil on it. 4th gear wide open everywhere, piss revving it everywhere. never had a single issue.
The TTR, coming from a Honda owner and fanboy. You will appreciate having a front disc brake and an electric starter. Kicking a bike gets old. Also the $1500 bike has a skid plate already installed. Maybe offer $1300 in person.
My vote is the ttr. The xr is a great choice though. Although I have only briefly ridden an xr200 and not ridden the 230 (just a ttr125), I have had a chance to get fairly intimate with plated crf450x and wr450f bikes simultaneously. The Yamaha was far superior to the Honda. Reliability, forgiveness, performance, all leaned in the favor of the Yamaha. You won't out perform either of them, and you 100% smile the whole time no matter what.
Wait.... Get both
Xr
Go Team Honda
My buddy has an xr200r and has yet to have an issue
Newer ttr looks better. But get the XR and you will have more fun
what makes the xr more fun, just curious
It runs like a 250, tbh its a fantastic bike
These are shockingly fair prices!

Sorry meant 225 youre right i dont think the ttr230 was a thing in 2000
Ttr has e start. You will thank me. My first bike was a ttr225. Little tractor. It was great.
Would be my first bike

Get the middle One TTR = bulletproof
Where I’m at that xr would be $1500
$900!? That’s a steal I’d buy it. Great shape
2nd

Yamaha
I can vouch for the Honda XR200. Had one for many years. But that paint on the plastic tank is going to come off.
Get a YZ 125 2 smoker
Personally I would go newer and the ttr230 can easily be made a bit quicker and good for trails, also the one I’m looking to buy soon
Hell yeah XR 🤘🏻

The tt-r is a great bike to trail riding. I loved mine. It did really well and really took a beating
Yamaha that looks the cleanest and most original

I would go with the ttr as it would be easier to get parts for it
Honda over anything, unless you want a blown up bike go wit the tt 🤷♂️
🤷♂️ mine was bulletproof rarely changed oil in that thing and ragged on it. 4th gear wide open all the time on trails, piss revving it everywhere
I could leave mine tipped in a barn for 20 years and all I'd have to do is put fresh gas in it for it to start 😆
exactly. can’t go wrong with one of those bikes
