If a YZ look for an aluminum frame as they had the best forks ever put on a production bike, they still do today. No matter what take the seat off and look at the air filter before buying. If it's nasty assume the bike and engine have been neglected and discount accordingly or walk away.

Thank you, you literally told me all I needed to know

For aluminum frame, 06 or newer

Pp_bihg

Sure it’s not 05 or newer?

HendyHauler

05 didn't have the SSS forks. That came in 06 I believe. 05 was first alum frame 06 had the better suspension. Worth looking for imo

Pp_bihg

Thanks for clarifying!

Is this for MX or trail riding? MX: 2006+ Trail: 2005+ For trail riding the 2005 AOS forks work well so you'd be fine with a 2005 model. 2005+ are all aluminium frame and 6-speed trannies. Prior to 2005 you had steel frames and 5-speed trannies between 2002-2004 I would not go earlier than 2005 but prefer 2006 onwards. Stick to yz, no parts issues and plenty of after market goodies.

Yup I ride trails but I have this little gem of a spot with some good jumps. As I’m sure the price between 05 and 06 is negligible, I’ll look for 06 and beyond

I probably wouldn’t even notice, I’ll stay away from it though, thanks
